⚡️ #Opinion by Maria Zakharova:
💬 Josep Borrell’s recent deliberations (https://eeas.europa.eu/headquarters/headquarters-homepage/110293/tensions-rising-our-eastern-borders-unity-remains-our-strength_en) about the future of Europe, published in his blog on January 30 have confirmed my long-time suspicion that his blog has a life of its own and that the EU’s foreign policy chief may not even know what exotic texts are posted there on his behalf.
The new entry plays on the Western media’s psychedelic phobias about “Russia’s aggressive actions against Ukraine.”
However, time goes on, yet Russia has not invaded Ukraine. The plan of the United States and its British allies, who have ordered this tune, is clear: invent the “Russian threat,” announce their resolve to fight it heroically, stage a provocation and eventually declare victory over Russia.
Their goals are to divert public attention from domestic political crises, invest billions of dollars into arming “fragile democracies” and use the situation to reinforce their “invincible” image, which has been frayed by the debacle in Afghanistan.
As for the European Union, we never doubted its biased stand on the conflict in Ukraine. The EU is trying to protect its sphere of influence, which it outlined back in 2013 when Brussels was unscrupulously pushing for an association agreement with Ukraine despite the arguments of the legitimate government in Kiev.
Ultimately, Ukraine has not been admitted to the EU club and is unlikely to be admitted any time soon. In fact, the ongoing Western performance has killed any hope that Ukraine can be admitted to a respectable association: who needs a country that could be “invaded by Russia any day?” NATO has done Ukraine a very bad turn indeed.
President Vladimir Zelensky has announced that the “patriot games” waged over the past few months cost Ukraine $12.5 billion, or 8 percent of Ukraine’s GDP of $155.6 billion.
A new emergency macro-financial assistance (MFA) programme for Ukraine of up to €1.2 billion was ceremoniously announced on January 24. This is almost ten times less than Ukraine has lost from the latest round of anti-Russia hysteria and will only increase Ukraine’s debts. As the EU has admitted, nearly 90 percent of its assistance (€15.1 billion of the €17 billion it has provided since 2014) was issued in the form of loans, which Kiev will have to repay.
As they say, with friends like this, who needs enemies? But then, we have warned more than once that Ukrainians’ interests are the least of Western concerns.
Maria Zakharova For president of Russia when that post is ava.
Tom 123
Why not. Her work in the Russian Foreign Ministry has given her plenty of experience.
I’d run, but I’m a “career warfighter”. (Whatever that means)
I would fully endorse Zakharova though.
So, they [the usual suspects] have a strategic outcome of “$12.5 billion, or 8 percent of Ukraine’s GDP of $155.6 billion, plus the cost of Russia’s excess defence response budget (unknown, but likely more than trivial) in reaction to this, for a “macro-financial assistance (MFA) programme for Ukraine of up to €1.2 billion” investment — emphasis on “up to” — and no doubt contingent on how well it $feeds the military industrial complexes (mic) of various national actors.
So, the bottom-line profit/loss statement comes down to how much inventory could be shifted in the western mic system via exploiting a largely self-funded Russian-vs-Russian (Soviet) civil war.
Very well written. The West with its debt trap and Austerity measures will kill more Ukrainians than died in the Holdomar.
The Bear is in the boxing ring >
Round one: take THAT… USA…below the equator belt…now you lost Argentina…biff…
Round two: take THAT …EU…right on the nose…your incompetence and mendacity is exposed….pow…
If I read this correctly, this artificially hyped hysteria is one of those sidelined modern age approaches into accelerating sales of unnecessary and junk arms and weapons.
“The plan of the United States and its British allies, who have ordered this tune…”
Now when source of problem is clearly defined, we can hope for a solution.
As always, the money goes into the pocket of some and the bill is left for the people to pay. Ukraine today is something similar to Paraguay of the late XIX century, or the famous country 404… The reality is disheartening.
“…the EU’s foreign policy chief may not even know what exotic texts are posted there on his behalf”.
How like the home life of our own dear Joe Biden. It is becoming increasingly obvious that people who rule us are entirely different from the people who pretend to govern us.
“The plan of the United States and its British allies, who have ordered this tune, is clear: invent the “Russian threat,” announce their resolve to fight it heroically, stage a provocation and eventually declare victory over Russia”.
I would go one step further. The overall plan is to destabilize Russia, break it up and subsequently plunder it. Ukraine has been given the role of proxy fighter, where the intention is to use it to provoke Russia into a war, after which sanctions would be applied in the hope they would break Russia financially. Wishful thinking. Sanctions introduced in 2014 actually boosted Russian infrastructure. Russia cannot be broken financially. It’s trade with just China amounts to 140 billion dollars.
Kosta
That has always been plan A, to humiliate and destabilize Russia.
From the wars in Yugoslavia, the expansion of NATO,the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and now Syria, Libya and the Ukraine, it has always been to break up Russia and steal all its wealth!
You are spot on there, the Soviet Union broke up,but the Reich isn’t satisfied with that they want Russia Balkanized, same with China, thats how deranged these people are, they have to be stopped and stopped dead.
This and other clear-headed blogs keep on pointing out that Washington and London have been warning against an imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine for at least three months.
What clear-headed people tend to overlook is that the public attention span for international affairs is less than one week, so they never remember that the terrifying warnings they are hearing today are much the same that they have heard scores of times before.
Also that a Russian invasion of Ukraine can be announced at any time, whether one has actually happened or not, and most Westerners will believe it. (They believed that Martians had landed to exterminate us when they heard Orson Welles’ radio play of “The War of the Worlds”, for Pete’s sake).
Anyway, look at those thousands of Russian soldiers, sailors and airmen who have invaded Crimea, which everyone knows is part of Ukraine. They have even set up military, naval and air bases!
Not to mention the LDNR, which is just full of Russians! Talking Russian, talking to people in Russia, and wielding Russian weapons.
In response to your claim that the warnings of an imminent invasion of Ukraine by Russia are now three months old, I suggest these warnings go much further back in time.
To this point I site Moon of Alabama’s post of 7 February, 2022. They go back to 30 July, 2014 and are repetitious ad nauseum. They are uniform in their hysteria.
Before talking about Ukraine, you need to know a few facts. “thousands of Russian soldiers, sailors and pilots” did not invade Crimea – they were based at military bases in Crimea; “naval and air force bases” in Crimea since Soviet times; “The DNR, which is just full of Russians! Speaks Russian” – 83% of Russian speakers in Ukraine – https://peremogi.livejournal.com/3703137.html . Give a request in which language Ukrainians request information on the Internet; “talking to people in Russia” – because the kinship relationship; “owns Russian weapons” – it’s no secret that the Ukrainian army is armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle.
Speaking of “fragile democracies”, those that come first to mind are the USA, the UK, France and Germany. They were so fragile that they have long ceased to be democracies.
recent RT comments
> State of emergency over some trucks honking…..
–> The truckers will be charged with attempted democracy.
> Now let’s imagine for a second that some of Russian officials will come down Canada and hand out some cookies and show support for these protesters. I wonder how would mass media react
Soon you would pay mercenaries to get onto the house of commons and shoot both truckers and police, who would pay for such a diabolical plot?
Blinken and Borrell are making presentations at the USA -EU Energy thingy…German Ambassador to Poland says it is still possible NS2 can be blocked… Putin not attending Munich Security Conference due soon….maybe participants will self explode in their ever increasing volume of self importance of whilst they are scurrying around searching for alternative supply routes of energy……we await all their final statements of confusion.
Baerbock meeting Zed again today. ..Sholz saying something somewhere too…..we await their final statements of confusion…oh and troops moving round again and being delivered to Poland from Uk-presumably to bolster the new happiness arrangement between the two .
And that ex Russian General previously a hardline nationalist public letter oops an embaressment?( maybe his outdated views are partly why Russia has now to take further “action”)…plus more rumours from intelligence sources yet be again it is all gonna cost and hurt Russian military much more if it invades.
Maybe at some near time we can get kinda a complete summary of alliances…visegrad 4…Budapest 12…..UK Poland ….USA and Poland plus Baltics…UK Ukraine military contracts..France and Russia arrangements after Macron Putin but no Minsk progress????Etc etc.Maybe the written to countries in OSCE might bother to reply.
oh and Bojo phones Pres Putin today????? Truss might visit 10th Feb?
Scholz was with Biden.
Vladimir Vladimirovich do not waste your precious time with this obese clown called Bo Jo ,please……
Vlad must be in his element right now, every high ground you can name, he’s on it. He can play hardball with these lightweights ( metaphorically speaking, as that fat sloppy douche will have the caviar all over his shirt ).
“The new entry plays on the Western media’s psychedelic phobias about”
I’m an old hippie, so I know a bit about psychedelics. :)
There are definitely phobias in play about Russia. But, they are not psychedelic in nature or cause. People under the influence are more likely to talk about ‘I see that everything is interconnected.” to “I can see God inside you”. People under psychedelics are more likely to be going around hugging people and saying “I love you”. A concert where much of the crowd is taking psychedelics ends with a bunch of happy, laughing people leaving the arena. Its actually quite a sight. Laughter and joy and love everywhere, and if their is a sour, American voice in the midst, it sticks out like a sort thumb by contrast.
The age in America where one saw widespread use of psychedelics was San Francisco in the 1960’s. What you saw were people talking about Peace and Love and hugging each other and trying to end a war. You did not see ‘phobias’ leading to declarations of war. The SF Hippies never declared war on anyone, and never even thought about nuking anyone.
Today’s Americans are insane, and they definitely have phobias. I’d almost say that psychedelics might do them some good, but no. Some people don’t react well to the idea that they might be seeing and talking to God within an hour. They seriously freak out. Apparently the day when they see and talk to God scares the crap out of them and they run like heck to try to keep that day at bay.
Lyrics from the famous psychedelic band that made the rock n roll hall of fame …
“Well the first days are the hardest days,
Don’t you worry any more,
‘Cause when life looks like Easy Street,
There is danger at your door.
Think this through with me,
Let me know your mind,
Wo, oh, what I want to know,
Is are you kind?”
leading to …
“Goddamn, well I declare,
Have you seen the like?
Their walls are built of cannonballs,
Their motto is “Don’t tread on me”.
Come hear Uncle John’s Band playing to the tide,
Come with me, or go alone,
He’s come to take his children home.”
–Uncle John’s Band
As Jerome John Garcia (“Uncle John”) used to say when anyone asked him about politics and elections, “Choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil”.
Yes, but what other excuse could they possibly have because they never in God’s world would ever vote for the other party, well that is if we had another party that is.
Your post brought back reminisces of a bygone and much more innocent era., memories of Abbie Hoffman and the counterculture, and the great anti-war protests and movements for civil rights (“human rights” according to Malcolm X). What a totally different country it was back then, full of idealism and the vision of a new type of society. And what it has become today! Unrecognizable! I really miss the hippies. During a visit to California a few years ago, I met some of them in a small town with banners of peace and love and protests against Israeli atrocities. When I told them I was a visitor, one of them replied: “We are all visitors”. What a profound statement! Ms Zakharova is much too young, thus her loose and superficial statement on “psychedelic phobias” of the Western media, an in-depth analysis of which was presented in “Manufacturing Consent” written by Noam Chomsky and Ed Herman in the eighties.
The 1960s counterculture is the problem…not the solution. The 1960s counterculture laid the foundation of the Global Homo-Woke US Empire of today…
Perhaps she meant psychotic phobias.
Maria, Lavrov, Peskov: everyone in the government of Russia and China is chosen for meritocracy. Why the mediocrity of people and mediocrity in activities and projects in the USA? Because in the US there is no meritocracy. The truth can’t stand rejection! Apparently Argentina has fewer Zionists than Brazil. Russian diplomacy is now taking off the mask of the lying Empire.
US Ambassadorships are very costly to whomever can afford them, still, I suppose the new ambassador and his motley crew of degenerate parasites will get it all back and much more at the other end.US Democracy, can’t beat it, although, it will beat you.
imo Maria Zakharova would be a fascinating woman with whom to enjoy a fine dinner and conversation.
always a highlight in any thinking man’s life.
If you were to type in Ukraine Historical Population Data then you’ll find that since 1991 Ukraine is losing on average 0.5% of its population every year, with no exception . . . . . the only upward economic trend is Debt. Go Figure, must be a correlation in there somewhere.
anyone make sense of Macrons twaddle tonight at the joint press conference with Pres Putin who was speaking very directly and understandably..perhaps with a sense of frustration?. Why is everyone else incapable of realising stuff needs to happen now?
Kinda felt the translator could not make much sense of Macron either.
???????
The German Chancellor just mentioned that Germany has pumped $2 billion into Ukraine. Some people think this enables Germany and France to “pressure” Ukraine into implementing Minsk. What they don’t understand is that all the money they’ve shoveled into Ukraine is simply stolen by the corrupt politicians and oligarchs. Therefore there is no way to pressure Ukraine because those elites aren’t the ones unemployed or starving, and they don’t care about those who are. Even withholding any further economic support won’t work. They need conflict with Russia to keep their jobs just as the US politicians do. So it’s impossible to pressure Ukraine. Only the US could do that by directly threatening the politicians they control in Ukraine. And since the US wants this war, there’s no way Minsk will ever be implemented. And once the war occurs, Minsk is a dead issue.
right on !!!!!
Germany and France want the Ukraine to implement Minsk? News to me.
I judge by actions — and leaked cables — not pretty words.
Ukraine is a trap being set for Russia.
What we are really seeing is the multi-level multi-dimensional attack on Russia which is also being as a warning to China and others.
Its like Rubik Cube – the sub-faces changing position constantly with every move made by the EU NATO Biden forces across 3 dimensions in space and time..
Its up to Russia to see where the structure of this cube is heading and what moves can changes its final positioning.
And whether its deliberately being set for a final set of values or its random action in a general direction is the question.
Putin being a master chess player should be able to see where these moves are heading and think in a #D way.
But what we have, like the Middle East, is some players wanting peace and other players and external elements wanting conflict / war. And variations of this at different points in time. And determining the correct response and outcomes in this complex pattern time series will show how good Putin & Russia is.
Who is setting a trap for whom? I suggest that NATO is walking into a trap through its own intellectual and moral incompetence. The NATO forces that are ‘accumulating’ in the Ukraine currently, are doing Russia a big big favour. They are nicely gathering into a cauldron of their own making. If a real slugfest develops, Russia does not need to spend as many resources to eliminate them, as NATOs taxpayers have had to fund for this one-way trip of theirs.
The “trap” is getting Russia to react in some way that can be used or twisted (by false media reports into something else) to justify an escalation.
And sorry typo, #D =3D.
This is true as far as it goes, but Russia can do nothing and still be blamed for an incident that justifies Western escalation. That’s what false flag ops are all about.
Everyone’s has a plan until a Kalibr missile comes calling. ‘Hellooooooooooooo, anybody home?’ ‘Sorry you’ll have to come back later, I’m doing the dishes.’
Btw – everybody is talking – referring – linking to VPs part of the press conference yesterday.
Does anybody has a summary – a link – an opinion about what Macron had to tell during exactly that conference?
I guess they both did the presser – or am I wrong?
Маша,you are the best. Too bad Uncle $hmuel doesn’t have really strong women like you in his service. Instead, he has idiots like Cookie Nuland, Susan Rice, the moron Jen Psaki,
Samantha Power, etc. Let’s not forget she with the alligator mouth, Hillary Clinton.
‘Call a c***sucker a c***sucker and call a c**t a c**t’
Diplomatic speak for saying that you disagree considerably with Joe Biden and his poodle yapdog, Boris Johnson.
