General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian federation
October 17th 2016 briefing
Lieutenant-General Sergey Rudskoy
Oct 17, 2016
Chief of the main operations directorate of Russia’s General Staff
says Moscow has agreed with Syria on declaring a brief humanitarian pause in the flashpoint city of Aleppo.
Rudskoy said Moscow will halt its airstrikes on Aleppo from eight AM to four PM local time on Thursday. He added that Syrian troops will also refrain from targeting foreign-backed militants during the unilateral truce. The Russian military official also expressed Russia’s readiness for providing medical personnel with unhindered access to Aleppo at the request of humanitarian groups. Rudskoy, however, ruled out a lasting ceasefire in the flashpoint city for now. Moscow’s proposed eight-hour pause in Aleppo airstrikes has been welcomed by the United Nations.

Hopefully that “Pause” is just to reorganize, revictualize, resupply and get ready for the final push against the jihadis! It is imperative that this war be shut down before the US election brings another insane administration to power in the US!
The temporary ceasefire seems to be “working” as expected. RT reports the terrorists, which I assume for 5th column reasons (they never learn) labeled “rebels”,shelled government held West Aleppo, killing 3 adults. And wounding 27 others, including children.Seriously ,when a Russian owned network apes the West in calling the terrorists ,that “Russia” herself is fighting,”rebels”. Then you “know” there are deep problems, that need a purge to correct.Someone with some power, needs to clue them in on the use of words in English speech. To explain that calling your friends governments as “regimes”,and your terrorist enemies as “rebels”,is not adequate in English. It plays directly into your enemies hands. Now I suspect those at RT,”know” that already. And that is why its done. Its 5th column traitors “playing” the system to support the West. But whether the Russian leadership is aware of that as well,is the interesting question.I can accept (barely) the argument that calling enemies “pardners, friends, and colleagues” is a form of mocking them. But the same excuse isn’t acceptable regarding “regime and rebels”.That is out and out following the “Western party line. And damaging to your own cause.
I agree I can’t stand reading Sputnik or RT – they just repeat whatever the western govts say
Even Poreshenko is on Sputnik running his mouth off about the Normandy meeting. With no analysis
No analysis – can’t see the pint of these news sights. Russia are wasting their money
Its not that I don’t think RT serves a good purpose. I just believe there are improvements needed. To eliminate 5th column influence. I approve of at least half the stories they do. Its those that ape the West I disapprove of.
