The Saker – other than a falcon with superb eyesight capturing everything that moves – is also an extraordinary analyst of Russian military and Current Affairs. The thousand-pager opens with an Outstanding Foreword by Pepe Escobar, who in a few paragraphs characterizes The Saker’s writings eloquently from a bird’s view, submarine’s perspective and a Big Picture outlook from the desert. Well done; getting the best out of The Saker.
Integrity of writing, justice, honesty and realism – are all trademarks of the Saker. He may be Russian with brilliant ideas and inventions, but he never loses his North. His love for objectivity, for realism and for critique when he deems it as a must – is refreshing. Emotions from the belly, inspiring one’s heart and mind – but always with a string of realism.
“The Essential Saker” weaves through 12 chapters, from western instigated wars and conflicts, to Russian strategies and the western phobia with homophobia, interlinking such human flaws and capacities as pride, greed, arrogance – and wisdom. But the narrative also covers facts, illuminating Russia’s relation with Islam, with the West, analyzing history from the artificially created Cold War to the end of ‘equality’ between the US hegemon and the new Russia with Vladimir Putin – to the rise of the Anglo-Zionist Empire, pointing rightly and aptly to the tail that wags the dog – and all its implications for history still to come and be written.
The Saker looks also at Washington’s lies, slanders, hypocrisy and falsehoods – and the empire’s tool ‘par excellence’ that seems to never fail them – the false flags. Paris – Charlie Hebdo, the Boston bombers, come to mind – all to intimidate and repress people; let alone 9/11 – to terrorize the world no end.
The Saker is an extra-ordinary Russia analyst, distinguishing very pointedly between the ‘Democracy Russia’ and the new Russia under Putin; the former being befriended by the empire, because weak and down-trodden, easy to be exploited and manipulated to serve Washington’s purposes; the new Russia, however, with a statesman as an equal or superior to the emperor, is hated, needs to be slandered, denigrated and made the world enemy number One. So – aggressing Putin’s Russia is the order of the day.
‘The Essential Saker’ is not just a guide through recent history with a view from and at Russia – it’s an eye-opener for whoever wants to understand our complex everyday history –and that from a point of view of full integrity and truth.

“Geopolitics made understandable by an expert connecting dots – A Review”
“is also an extraordinary analyst of Russian military and Current Affairs.”
That may be Mr. Koenig’s opinion but why specifically was this “review” published on this blog at this moment?
To remind to the readers of this blog who come here over and over again seeking an antidote to the dis-information spewed by the MSM that nothing in life is free and that buying the book is one of the ways of supporting this web site.
Thank you and others for your/their prompt information.
It may be a function of your experience and therefore the following may come as a surprise.
For those with evaluation criteria, experience and methods there is no such thing as disinformation, only information, which is generally evaluated by accepted criteria and methods, hence not reliant on assertion, including assertions on the motivation of some “coming here”.
Really? How amusing. As a double philosophy major, I learned to (a) examine the argument, (b) then examine the counter-argument, (c) then consider the middle positions – for false axioms held in common, etc, (d) then hold the argument up to a mirror to see if it has a reflection (lol), (e) then hold it upside down and shake it to see what falls out of its pockets (shekels, for example?) (lol). Only then do I consider that I might have information.
Wow! Who knew -other than anonymous?
I am shocked, shocked I tell you!
I will apply vigorously recursive ‘accepted’ criteria and methods while eschewing obfuscation and the dreaded assertions when reading the hardcopy ‘Essential Saker’ that I have now received and which is hardened against bots, pixel personas, and subversive digital meddling that the electronic verson like all digital media could potentially suffer.
Because its Christmas silly.
Because Koenig finished reviewing my book and because I post all the reviews of my book I can find.
What did you imagine?!
It’s a great book.
Glad to see another great review! You can do the Saker a solid by posting this at Amazon too.
Saker is a legend.
Peter Koenig,
Yes I now understand all that – I have read the author’s books – Pepe Escobar’s Globalistan in Corfu when it was incredibly hot – and I was with my wife and family…and well my eldest son’s girlfriend….5 of us including flights our own car hired all through well a quite popular British Company…for £1800 inc….and we turned up…well the lot of us…squashed everything in the hire car….and we arrive at this…You Guys are taking The Piss…
All This is OURS For a Week???
It’s Our Private Villa Complete with The Biggest Swimming Pool in Corfu…?????
Its like Well Really Really Greek…
You simply can’t imagine it….My wife swam naked in the pool every morning before the kids woke up.
The kids are now 10 years older…and my son is going to be a Dad…and our daughter is back now to live at home after 6 years away at University and stuff.
My wife and I are going to be Grandparents in about 3 months time ..in our home…our kids live with us – even my daughter (soon to be auntie) has come back home.
We didn’t move after our children were 4 and 2. We brought them up in a family home – like we were.
It’s about growing roots..somewhere you can always call home..and travel home to and its just the same…all the love just as you were a young child…
My wife and I love babies..and we are going to have another one…
Its a big old house. My wife and I own it. We worked for it. We live here in our village in England,
Is that O.K.?
Tony
dear Moderator – why is this above comment on the thread…its bizzare – doesn’t belong here
There are certain rules we follow when moderating Ann. Mainly we censor anything outrageously racist, insulting to other commentators or writers, gratuitously offensive and “troll” like, or very obscene. Otherwise, we tend to go for being tolerant, understanding and realizing we all have different points of view. Since the above doesn’t fit into any of the banned criteria, it went through.
You are welcome to complain about my decision of course, and to join us, as we are quite short staffed and your contribution would be welcome. Especially to me after 4 or more hours late at night!
Perhaps Tony is some kind of secret agent delivering an important message in code :)
Why not volunteer to become a moderator? Then you may delete commentary you find ill suited for the blog, those you do not find agreement with, and on and on, blah, blah, woof, woof.
The moderator in this particular case is gollowing the rules established for commentators. Simply because in your own opinion you find a comment “bizzare” you believe it should be censored. There have been many, many comments here which I personally find “bizzare”. However, since I am not the owner or moderator my opinion on televance matters not a hill of beans.
A lovely Christmas story. Thank you Tony– and Merry Christmas!
Hi Saker, glad to see you’re getting some of the best people out there to review your big book. A thousand pages…that’s a big book !!
I’m looking forward to receiving the book.
This website is very useful, and I wanted to support it by buying the book.
BTW there are very very few webpages in existence which are not full of scripts which can potentially mine data from the surfers computer.
This website is clean.
I will submit an impartial review after I have read it.
Many thanks
RIA Novosti (РИА Новости) reports on 23 December 2015, http://m.ria.ru/world/20151223/1347451190.html :
Ukraine is on brink of a political suicide:
The present regime in Ukraine needs no external threats to destroy the country. It is executing that task all by itself, writes Bloomberg.
It adds that according to Transparency International, Ukraine ranks “142” by corruption on the list of 174 world countries (rank “1” indicates the least corrupt, rank “174” is the most corrupt). (Incidentally, Mother Russia ranks “only” “136” (:-)) … Serbia ranks “78” … while the rank of honour “174” occupies Somalia.)
Check table at http://www.transparency.org/cpi2014/results .
Bloomberg article titled This Time It’s Not Putin: Ukraine Flirts With Political Suicide is at http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-12-22/this-time-it-s-not-putin-ukraine-flirts-with-political-suicide
The numbers are false and corrupt.. I would say the USA is absolutely #1 in corruption using $ figures, where corruption is big money.. Here billions change hands, not pennies.. Heck it is n industry were money is fleeced from the public to the insiders by any and all tricks using capitalism.. Just because the vast majority of people are not in a position to be corrupted makes no difference when their voice or actions are irrelevant. But there are also excuses.. I know of people in positions who would accept like sexual favors to grant amenities not supposed to be available.. Maybe money is not changing hands but it s corruption.. What about expense accounts? They are business and not paybacks.. But looking at it another way it is buying influence for your gain even if you are not directly paying them. Would be far easier to give them 100 bucks rather than wasting everyone’s 2 hours.
What I have found the world over is, corruption exists everyone… The US definition only matters because they use laws based on it to blackmail others. In every country you have to learn how corruption works.. Like Auslander was saying when he went to get a permit and asking if it could be speed up.. Well money might not help there but knowing someone who has a friend who is a relative who is married to her brother might.. So they are 136th? Somehow the US based think tank was able to figure it all out and put them as a number…
Peter I just want to bring to you attention who “The German Marshall Fund ” is.
The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is a think tank and grantmaking institution dedicated to promoting greater cooperation and understanding between North America and Europe.
Founded in 1972 through a gift from the West German government on the 25th anniversary of the Marshall Plan, GMF contributes research and analysis on transatlantic and global issues; convenes policy and business leaders at major international conferences; provides exchange opportunities for emerging American and European leaders; and supports a number of initiatives to overthrow goverments, to promote coluor revolutions…etc.

@ Natoist for money
Your information on GMF in itself is quite interesting and useful. However, is GMF in any way connected to the sources I cited above? Please clarify.

@ mmiriww
Yes, the cited listing by Transparency International is obviously skewed. What is interesting though, is that even an established western mouthpiece such as Bloomberg publicly admits that Ukraine is a political mess on the way down. That is why RIA drew attention to it.
From a moral Western Christian: ( Paul Craig’s Christmas column)
All Americans have a huge stake in Christianity. Whether or not we are individually believers in Christ, we are beneficiaries of the moral doctrine that has curbed power and protected the weak. Power is the horse ridden by evil. In the 20th century the horse was ridden hard, and the 21st century shows an increase in pace. Millions of people were exterminated in the 20th century by National Socialists in Germany and by Soviet and Chinese communists simply because they were members of a race or class that had been demonized by intellectuals and political authority. In the beginning years of the 21st century, hundreds of thousands of Muslims in seven countries have already been murdered and millions displaced in order to extend Washington’s hegemony.
Power that is secularized and cut free of civilizing traditions is not limited by moral and religious scruples. V.I. Lenin made this clear when he defined the meaning of his dictatorship as “unlimited power, resting directly on force, not limited by anything.” Washington’s drive for hegemony over US citizens and the rest of the world is based entirely on the exercise of force and is resurrecting unaccountable power.
Christianity’s emphasis on the worth of the individual makes such power as Lenin claimed, and Washington now claims, unthinkable. Be we religious or be we not, our celebration of Christ’s birthday celebrates a religion that made us masters of our souls and of our political life on Earth. Such a religion as this is worth holding on to even by atheists.
As we enter into 2016, Western civilization, the product of thousands of years of striving, hangs in the balance. Degeneracy is everywhere before our eyes. As the West sinks into tyranny, will Western peoples defend their liberty and their souls, or will they sink into the tyranny, which again has raised its ugly and all devouring head?
As an x Catholic priest and x Christian new age priest, I read your comment with interest.
PCR has many virtues but his vision is clouded with wishful thinking and weak kneed logic.
Yes, we need a moral force like religion but real religion that literally means “tying back into source.” Patriarchal religions are problematic to say the least since they poison the wells of source.
Lenin spoke the most violent language imaginable but he also had some god nuggets like: religion is the opium of the people. Whether it’s true or not I don’t know, but he reportedly said on his deathbed that if Russia had ten Saint Francis’s he could have saved Russia. I was a Franciscan monk myself and know Francis, although misguided by Innocent III, was one mother of a lover; and a former warrior who at the end waiting for his mistress, Sister Death, lay naked on the earth so as not to miss her and her finale kiss of bliss.
I’ve been heavy into old and new age religions and everything in between. I’ve found out by bitter experience and much loss of money and time that the only religion worth its salt is a religion of love. But that’s a problem too unless it’s true love.
What can I say about Miss Religion. She could be happily married or running a whore house in Buenos Aires, to misquote a poet. I wrote a book about my version of our original love religion at thelovegovernment.com. It could be just one more straw blowin’ in the wind or it could be the straw that breaks the patriarchal empire’s back. Or the straw in the mattress for She’sus and her cold back.
There’s a new world coming for Christmas that has nothing to do with Saint Santa or Baby Jesus. It concerns the Womam She’sus which means the womam in all of us males and females. Even deeper it’s the Lover She’sus which means the lover in all of us males and females, the one who said “I have come to cast fire upon the earth and how restless I am until it is blazing.”
@ Dennis James Leary
One is sorry to see that what you wrote here is devoid of sense to an extreme. What “Woman She’sus”, what “Miss Religion”, what “woman in a man”?… Is this some bizarre attempt at homosexual propaganda, or rather an effect of some medication, licit or otherwise, or all of the above? In either case: what you write has nothing to do with the topic – which is Saker’s mastery in analysing contemporary world geopolitics.
I bought the book from Nimble and donated it to a local book store. I hope it ends up in the hands of one of the millionaires around here who catches the spirit and releases some of his millions for the cause.
