Good interview, thanks.
The Taliban spokesman mentioned three committments against terrorists operating from Afghanistan:
(1) Disallow training grounds for terrorists.
(2) Disallow fundraising centers for those with foreign agendas.
(3) Disallow recruitment centers for terrorists.
That is good so far. But I notice that Shaheen said nothing about disallowing bases in Afghanistan for ETIM and the like. Are they unwilling to expel the terrorists, or unable to do so? Perhaps the ban on training grounds is basically a ban on bases?
Shaheen also mentioned that the US damaged the airport on departure, including the airport. Yes, the Yanks would do that out of spite. He mentioned that Turkey and Qatar have repaired the airport. I have two questions:
(1) Does that mean the Taliban now have total control of the airport?
(2) Is the airport now in condition to receive airlifts of food?
ETIM has no place in afghansitan : Suhail Shaheen

Oops. By “including the airport” I mean “including the radar”.
This site really, really needs a preview function, one that lets someone see his comment exactly as it would be posted.

MI5 and MI6 train senior Pakistani intelligence officers at British army base north of London
UK has given 57 training courses to Pakistan military in recent years including in ‘military psychological operations’ and ‘joint information operations’
UK government routinely praises Pakistan for combatting terrorism but US officials regularly chide it for supporting the Taliban
Former UK ambassador to Afghanistan described the Taliban as ‘Pakistan’s proxies’
British army veteran who served in Afghanistan says bereaved families of those killed and wounded ‘should be demanding answers’
Its a confusing world?
Thanks so much for posting this Andrei – I hope that Afghanistan will figure it out.
Segregated universities is not perfect but a start. I read somewhere, that’s their plan for now.
Segregated universities, that would be like the ‘private’ schools for boys and girls that we have in the west. If segregated schools work in the west, why not Afghanistan?
Cheers, M
Yes, but they will say that in the West it is a ‘private’ matter, and it’s not Afghanistan’s business :>)
California that is considered the most liberal state, has probably more ‘Girls only’ schools that all of the other States combined.

It seems that Hypocrisy is a religion over there.
talking to Kabul and Qatar is not progress though – yikes.
as I see it, you are grasping.
the talibs or one or another of their ideological/theological is allies will soon make a hostile move towards china(or one of the intel services, be that western or pak). with all the hardware strewn around bandits, the road initiative is as good as dead.
