In many comments I’ve seen people calling the Minsk Package of Measures as a ‘dead letter’. Here is a reminder. The very first item is 1) Ceasefire.
The second item is 2) Withdrawal of weapons.
Do we really consider that a ‘dead letter’, or the most basic start of ending the war?

Those two items are not an end to the war, but a sort of ceasefire. We’ve already had a couple of them, but may not have another, as a real end to the war might occur. In other words, one side wins.
If Moscow wants something like the Minsk accords implemented, the first step is to take control of Kiev. The world is ruled by force.
It is very interesting when people from the West talk about the Minsk agreement.
It is people who never read the agreement and simply repeat what they have heard.
and
people who know what the agreement is about but pretend that it is something that it isn’t.
I think, ultimately, this agreement will be implemented.
Just how will Minsk be implemented?
The Ukro-Orcs have flatly refused to implement it.
Remember that Minsk is not a peace treaty or a resolution of the conflict, it merely calls for the Ukraine government to sit at the table with the Donbass to negotiate a deal. But Ukraine refuses to sit at that table. At the same time, the other co-signers refuse to apply any arm-twisting to force the Ukraine to the negotiating table.
And even if they did, there is no reason to think that the Ukraine would negotiate in good faith; it would be just more stalling. A year or two down the tracks nothing will have changed on the ground, the Orc-work at the LOC will still be going on with the Donbass continuing to be shelled and attacked.
The Ukraine will not negotiate in good faith until:
1. The forces shelling the Donbass from the LOC receive a serious ass-kicking.
2. The Kiev government realizes that the entire Ukraine will be dismembered and divided up by its neighbours if they don’t sit down and cut a deal with the Donbass.
This does not mean that an invasion is necessary. Standoff weapons will be able to accomplish #1 above. Russian intelligence surely is aware of force and supply concentrations of Nazi groups such as Azov Battalion, Privy Sektor etc. Motor pools, weapons and supply depots can also be taken out by precision stand-off weapons.
If the above does not bring the Ukro-Orcs to their senses and bring them to the table, a full-out invasion is all that is left.
If such an invasion needs to happen, the Russians should take and annex a strip of land along the entire north coast of the Black Sea, from the Donbass to Mariupol to Odessa and on to the Romanian border. Likewise, this strip of land should go east across the north coast of the Sea of Azov.
Let the Hungarians, Poles and other states bordering the Ukraine help themselves to what they want. In the liklihood that nobody will want the hardcore Nazi-Banderite Galacia, ring-fence this and let them fester.
If this means that the Germans will not sign off on Nord-Stream 2, so be it. Without the gas from Nord-Stream 2, Germany and other recipients of this gas will, sooner rather than later have a wintertime “freeze in the dark” period. If this effects a few million Europeans, Germany and the others affected will be down on their knees begging Russia to send gas through Nord-Stream 2.

I have seen the News here in The Netherlands.
The evacuation of Donetsk is being presented as a ploy, or else an indication that the Russians are about to attack. They indicate that we can know nothing about conditions there because Western trusted journalists are not permitted. Apparently they have not yet heard of social media or the internet, where news is also being posted by local ‘trusted’ Westerners!
I have yet to hear any mention of the 150K troops massed on the DonBas border.
The genocide is being scoffed at as Russian misinformation.
None of the speculations mention that the Russians could simply contain the entire Ukrainian army by going behind their lines in the Ukrainian controlled parts of Luhansk & Donetsk oblasts … an obvious indication that Ukraine does not fear any invasion and the speculation experts are just mouthing talking points.
The narratives are so worn in and ubiquitous that nothing will get through to them.
Not a soul is even worried about the future of a Europe without energy … they are too stupid to realize that energy is not a consumer product but the entire basis of productive economies.
The goal is to make Europe entirely dependent on the United States of America, in every way: militarily, politically, economically, even socially and culturally.
The fate of the United States of America, despite the wishes of her people, is to provide the nucleus and headquarters of a Global Government, where its combined and interlocking elites in the fields just mentioned will provide leadership in those areas, for all of Humanity, forever.
To resist the ” obsessive lunacy ” of this Modernist juggernaut is the ultimately spiritual task of the Russian civilization, But as trends go, it might be best as part of that spiritual task to wall off Russia and her allies from literal contamination from the West. Russia does not need to be a resource colony of the Germans either, to the Devil with Nordstream 2 and similar projects.
Yes it’s incredulous that these so-called bought & paid for politicians aren’t concerned about their publics energy costs/bills, their country’s future energy security, by continuing to blindly back a sick depraved country that’s acting in its own interests. The natural gas economy in the US is highly financialized. The banks have big exposure to this scheme. A contract for natural gas delivery is a hard asset in their hands. Biden is the bankers’ boy, and has so far failed to deliver the cancellation of NS 2. This may be why the Stock ‘Market’ has been so shaky of late
UK/US do not honor agreements because they do not had to. And they will continue to do so until they suffer consequences for it.
Soup of misinformations, disinformations, and semi-informations we are force-fed has only one purpose: to hide this simple truth.
People say it’s a dead letter because 1) it’s been ignored by all sides – except Russia – for seven years going on 8; 2) if any Ukraine President tries to implement it, he will end up in jail for treason, in exile or dead; and 3) the US doesn’t want it and the US controls Ukraine.
And as for implementing it after Russia kicks Ukraine’s ass, at that point, Minsk becomes moot because Ukraine won’t be able to do anything against Donbass anyway. Russia may still want Ukraine to implement it, but whatever is left of Ukraine still won’t be able to do it because the US will still not let them. And whatever’s left of Ukraine will probably still be neo-Nazi/hard line nationalist-controlled, so they still won’t want to do it.
Ergo: “dead letter”. In other words, as per my usual phrase, “It ain’t gonna happen.”
