Having issues with new ‘registered’ user send message to the mods using ‘support’ account
userid: support
passwd: support
Then send message.
- When you attempt to enter a comment you will get the following ‘Only registered users can comment’
- Click on the ‘registered’ link
3. Click on ‘Register’ at the bottom left to continue your registration.
4. Fill out desired user name
5. provide a valid email address (will be used to send link for password entry)
6. This screen appears .. then check your email for link to password scree
7. This is the password screen from your email link
8. you can modify the computer generated password to one that is more suitable
9. Now go back to the comment screen
10. select ‘registered’ and enter you user name and password

Well, you know, some people believe we were better off without computers…everyone is entitled to their opinion. I do believe having posters registered will cull drive-by shooters, trolls, hasbara, who hide behind the no-registration system.

Tried again about 15 minutes later as supposed I made an error typing email address but found both name and address registered (so asked to choose alternatives).
Please advise.
I believe it has to do with the gmail account. all failures so far have been gmail accounts … gmail blocks the email if it is not configured in a special way … i’m reading about it at this time .. if you have another non gmail account i can remover your current haymer doots and you can try with different email … let me know how you want to proceed

Hello, I created account JonLX but did not receive an email over the next 12 hours. I tried the ‘create account’ option again, in case I entered the wrong email, didn’t hit enter sincerely enough, etc., and was informed that this account already exists. I tried the ‘forgot password’ option and was again told I would receive an email.
FYI. I am using Firefox. The login page is not secure, I had to add the https:// prefix to thesaker.is.

are you using a gmail account … it appears that google is very picky about its email and will not even receive email if it does not like how the email header is formatted if you have a non gmail give it a try .. i am still trying to understand what needs to be changed to please google mail

you know me on the blog as Rob. The one from Germany. Since more ‘Robs’ are around I registred as ‘Rob D’ (‘D’ from ‘Deutschland’ :-)) with my regular mailaddress. Both are registred now, but I never got an e-mail with log-in stuff, so I’m stuck.
What can we do to solve this?

gmail accounts do not receive email as google thinks they are spam .. do not even get to spam folder .. i am having my wordpress mail configuration modified to allow gmail accounts to receive email. Not sure when this will be done .. my quess it will take 2-3 days

Unfortunately it is not true that Google thinks it is spam (as I understand it, anyway) – Google routinely blocks all communication with certain email addresses – incoming or outgoing or both. They call it defence against “spam” as a legal trick which is virtually impossible to disprove, but the fact is it is plain censorship, nothing else. Google is the biggest email censor on the planet. The best solution is not to use Gmail. I can’t think why any Saker reader would want to use Gmail anyway, but it is your free choice. Just be aware that a significant number of real people cannot contact you!

Those of you who are clearly registered but didn’t receive the confirmation email just do a Lost Password and get in.

Got bitten by the Gmail problem, so created a free account at Protonmail.com. Seems to have worked out OK, although I had issues with Protonmail screwing up the login password there so I had to reset it.

Could not make it work for me—-but I am bad with technology. I decided to read what I could and was glad I got a donation in before this axe fell.
I registered yesterday. Everything went fine. However, the confirmation e-mail went into to my junk mail folder. I noticed this right away, as often times sites with logins/registrations have this issue. Hope this helps anyone else out having issues…

I sympathize with the dominance of Google. (Gee, it sure would be nice if one of those more advanced than us ‘Muricans progressive Eurolemming vassals…or a Zone B country or 3…would implement some basic anti-trust law and separate all the non-search stuff Google has bought up over the years using its excess profits from its market power in search…but I digress)
Having said that, Gmail is far from the only service out there. There’s no technical reason why Google must be allowed to dominate policy choices about websites. A couple links for those wanting a different email provider (focused primarily on Zone A users although these are generally available in Zone B). There’s Yahoo, Microsoft Outlook, AOL, Apple iCloud, plus smaller/targeted ones like GMX and Proton and even ones like Yandex for those Zone Aers who like to spice things up with a little intel/surveillance/guilty-until-proven-innocent risk in their online activities.
