I really like this painting of …..are they eagles?. Name of artist?…Did you get a chance to click on the LiveCam monitoring in Pennsylvania a pair of eagles nesting? The male goes hunting for food while the female sits on 2 eggs. He covers for her by sitting on eggs while she eats….so beautiful. Eaglets should hatch around March 21,,,,9 more days ….they are fragile so they won’t fledge until June or July and even then the parents will remain to watch over them and teach them how to hunt etc…

I have seen much bigger gators than this one :-)
but yes, they do travel on foot very long distances over land. Once, in the Tiger Bay State Forest I saw a mother-gator with her kids in a small pond in the middle of the forest. The nearest lake was several miles away. Once I even photographed a gator in a forest (a rather rate sight). They are amazing animals, beautiful and very majestic in their own way. It is like seeing a dinosaur. I love gators (and snakes too!). I know, I am weird….

Florida is wild, but quite safe. Our alligators very rarely attack, and usually when they do there is a really major human mistake involve. Our bears (black) very rarely cause problems. Our panthers are very shy and hide from everybody. As for our snakes, the big ones (Eastern Diamonback) are very peaceful and our nasty ones (Pigmy rattlesnakes) are very small. We do have rather ill-tempered cottonmouths (water moccasins) near the water, but mostly they stay away. Still, and just in case, I carry a 9mm gun with me with some nasty +P FMJ-FN in the clip. You know what I fear most? The mosquitoes and the fire ants – now they are truly nasty :-)

Members of the European Parliament are prohibited to reveal the details of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), member of the European Parliament Marina Albiol told Sputnik Thursday.
“They have made me sign the confidentiality declaration which prohibits to reveal the content,” Albiol said.
The TTIP is a deal currently negotiated by the European Union and the United States, which aims at eliminating trade barriers in a number of economic sectors to facilitate trade between the two regions.

It has some pictures of a plume going straight up. I have prepared a simple Matlab code for such an event. I tried to find the article discussing these photos with exact map locations where it was photographer and where it was claimed to be fired. However, I could not. These numbers are left as parameters in the code. The code is self explanatory and is well commented. You will need Matlab to run it. It gives the results as a figure. One may vary the relevant parameters to match the reported setting.

Matlab is a computing software. It is available for most operating systems. However, it is not a free software. Most universities have this for students free of cost, at least within the university. Most users usually have a cracked version for their ‘personal use and non-commercial’ use. The package could be found from the internet.
One comment if anyone is running the code. There is some issue with the format in the comment section. In Matlab, any statemen following ‘%’ is treated as a comment and ignored.
When I copied it here, some things in one line has wraped to the second line. This should be corrected as follows to avoid run-time error in matlab.

In the above line, before running in matlab, the last word ‘point’ came to second line due to a wrap around. This should be adjusted before running in matlab by backspacing to bring the ‘point’ to the line above where it was intended to be.
Therefore, if it gives an error in certain line, use backspace to bring that line or the line after to the above line. Hopefully, without much difficulty it should be ok.

Yes. That should be adequate for this task. I used matlab, because this is what I have been using for a long time. If you see the lines of the code, it is quite understandable. The math is basic pythagors theorem and just use of time = distance/speed. Final few lines are for plotting, which is quite easy with matlab. May be it is also easy with phython. If you want to run in matlab, I suggest to use help of some one familiar with it.
I describe the procedure used below so that one may use what software he/she wants.
The idea is as follows. Assume all lie on a single plane (reasons discussed in my first comment).
h = height of impact explosion and
b = ground distance of impact from launch site (I assume this value, one should sweep over possible values or use the value if this is known)
Let x3 be the straight line distance
1) x3 = squareroot(h^2 + b^2) ,
missile travel distance will be a bit more than x3 due to curvature, this excess from straight line be ‘p’ percent. This adjustable for any required trajectory.
2) excess = x3 *p/100
3) let x1 be the distance between the launch site and the photographer and x2 the distance from impact point to the photographer. Since x1 is not known, let us sweep it from 10m to say 30000m
If missile is traveling towards the photographer,
3a) x2 = squareroot( (x1-b)^2 + h^2 )
If missile is flyin away from photographer,
3b) x2 = squareroot( (x1+b)^2 + h^2 )
now, let the launch be at time t = 0 sec .

I believe with the BUK missile there is a blast at launch, also a sonic boom (which I would guess would rattle some windows), then the target blast.
The “witness” if the story is correct spoke of a noise or explosion unlike any other. Sonic boom?

Ground distance from photographer in Torez to impact somewhere near Rozyspnye is about 15 km. (Pls tell if you have a better estimate)
Sound travelling hypotenuse of 15 km horizontally, 10 km vertically will take 53 seconds.
Missile travelling just the vertical 10 km is takes at least 11 s ( vertical launch; or more than that otherwise)
So t2 is 64 seconds (or more) . That needs t1 = 49 seconds (or more). Making ground distance from launch to camera in excess of 16 km. –That is not realistic.

Why is the number coming from the above method not realistic. One key assumption is all points of interest to us lie on a plane. For this, do can you point out if there is a mistake in the equations I provided? The reasoning for each step was mentioned. If anything wrong, please point out.
Why the value you got is not reasonable?
The result values would depend on the parameters we choose. It also depend on the trajectory excess we choose (I do not have an idea what would be an appropriate number), speed of missile etc. Some parameters will not influence that much, ie change in parameter to change in result is small.
(By ground distance, b, I mean the the distance from the point on the ground vertically below to the point in space where impact took place. )
I do not have a value for b. We have to choose it based on existing claims from media or so. If the location you mentioned (Rozyspnye) is assumed to be “b”. The from google maps, the distance to torez is around 11-12km (photographer was somewhere there as per claims). Let us say b=11.5km. In this case the missile flew over torez to that place.
For Mach n = 2.5, (we need an expert to tell what is reasonable. one may try a range of values and see what results we get). With these parameters, my model gives, the following result by varying x1.

The photographer location in the map is more or less clear based on the claims. If some can give an exact loaction on map for point “b” (the place about missile is claimed to have it), then we can calculate how far x1 should be. To set right numbers for excess value, mach speed etc we need some one with expertise.
My idea is to point out to those experts, who know the claimed geometry of the incident to use the given methodology to calculate the delay for the photographer. Based on this one may be able to disprove the story. If we get numbers that support the claim, then we are back to square one. This is an alternate method to indirectly verify the claim. I hope, those people give a try. Or if anyone has information on the claimed locations of events, please post it.

If the numbers happen to fit the delay in the story for a claimed geometry, then there are several possibilies
1) A happy coincidence
2) The story is fake and the faked guys chose the numbers well
4) Sounds from something else

I am NOT using assumption that the launcher, camera, and impact are on the the same line. I am not using matlab.
Still the simple estimate I gave applies, and using matab or not is not going to change it.
* Assumption made is (1) two sounds observed by cameraman are launch and impact sounds and (2) they arrive 15 seconds apart.
** In any case the input needed is the distance between the camera (in Torez) and the impact (which was taken as Rozypnoe 15 km away). This distance is something we know (or should know).
What follows from the estimate is that launch must be too far from the camera (the photo shows several kilometers distance, but not over 10 km distance)
Conclusion is that for any launch point satisfying the time delay condition, the distance between camera and the launcher must be over 16 km, and so assumptions made (*) are not working.
Your argument sounds correct. > 16km hold if the distance to photographer is 15km.
I will recheck mine to see if there is any issue. One thing is that I do not use the ground distance to the photograher as a parameter. In my case, “b” is the ground distance to the impact point from the launch point. So, if I put b=15km, it gives a smaller distance for the distance to the photographer.
May be if I plot the delay vs the ground distance of impact to the photographer our results would agree. I will update in the next couple of hours.

Using the google map distance measurement, the distance to Rozyspnye from the photographer is 11km not 15km. So your argument would mean that distance between photographer and launch should be atleast 13.5 km to get a 15 sec delay.
Now coming back to my analysis. It is correct. My calculations fix the distance of impact from the launch site. This is ‘b’. The ground distance from photographer to impact point is given by
(x1_all – b).
The corresponding plotting code need to modified to plot((x1_all-b) …
Now, I will try to use the distances from google maps for the locations indicated in the above link and calculate what would have been the delay at the photographers location. (By the way, path from launch to impact is almost a straight line.) For this case,
b = 22.5 km, x1 = 11.1km, x1-b = 11.4km, h = 10300m
Choosing mach 2.7 speed, sound speed 340m/s
For excess =0%, delay should be 39.4sec
For excess = 30%, delay should be 47 sec
For excess=50%, delay should be 52 sec
Excess path is only going to increase the delay. So this cannot be blamed.
Since these delays is way off from the 15 sec told in the interview of the photographer (see link http://ukraineatwar.blogspot.com.au/2014/12/interview-with-eyewitness-who-made.html ), we can conclude that it is impossible for this guy to take photo from this location and hear a delay of 15 sec.
While I commend the academic analysis here, two factors make the BUK unlikely:
1) The smoke trail from the solid rocket fuel of this huge 16′ long missile can be seen from a great distance. Theoretically, over 100 miles at 32,000′. Obviously atmospherics reduce this but if you watch Youtube videos of real BUK launches you will get some idea of the trail -and that it can stay around for a long time, even up to 20 minutes. It is not a contrail from a jet engine, these are smoke particles. In a populated area, nobody saw such a trail.
2) The BUK shrapnel is large and shaped a bit like an ‘H’. None of the MH17 holes show the diamond shape elongated tears that this would make. The ’30mm cannon shell’ like cockpit holes are way too small and round. A BUK does not cause round holes. Other ground-to-air missiles so far, e.g. SA6, suggested by obfuscating ‘experts’ can’t reach anywhere close to 32,000′.
If an air-to-air missile was used then it could not be from the ‘separatists’, since they had no aircraft, and it is unlikely that these small IR engine-seeking warheads would alone cause the cockpit damage seen.
Although the pic cannot be ruled out there are too many unknowns in the report to run a program on. Should be three blasts when the sonic boom is included.
This would also fit many accounts of two explosions. The sonic boom and the actual explosion at target.
Going by the accounts of two explosions, this would indicate nobody heard the blast at take off (if BUK missile was used).
Analysis of projectiles is required.
How about a program that will determine the authenticity of an article.
I see a number of holes on the article that this program is based on.
A program that gives a report on various articles based on – 1. is there a reporters name. 2. is there a witness name. 3. how does this fit in with known facts. (At the moment pictures are known facts, also eye witness at the time must be considered) Witness statements at the time, on video must be considered.
This witness’s pics were posted to facebook by the SBU? within a few hours of the shootdown. How did the reporter find this person? Ukraine SBU?

A sonic boom is quite possible. How strong this would be compared to the lift off sound I am not sure. I was hoping that someone will suggest more information about missile characteristic here.
For example, on trajectory, impact point, how strong is sonic boom, how long into the flight would the sonic boom happen etc, possibly some numbers on the loudness of each would be also good.

That “plume” has long been relied on as evidence of the BUK. In fact there is not even evidence that it was taken that day, only the word of the supposed photographer (anonymous).
In fact the plume image shows a clear sky, whereas the crash smoke photo from the same source, and all other crash photos from the day, shows substantial cloud cover, so the plume image may not even be from that day.

Peter: Yes, the there are a lot of variables. This method is based on certain assumptions. When I saw a number for the delay was specified in the report, I thought this is something testable. A vertical plume (and the corresponding angle of view) made some simplifications possible.
One may refine the idea to include a sonic boom. Here one would have to test a range of values by taking into account launch profile (acceleration etc)of a buk. For example, consider a minimum and maximum flying time for a buk to produce the sonic boom.
One thing the program has shown is that, it is almost impossible to get a 15 sec delay between launch and hit if it was fired away from the photographer. When fired towards, it is a bit tricky. One way is the consider the minimum and maximum values of certain parameters. This would locate at which location the 15 sec delay correspond to. If the predicted location is way off from the reported one, then it gives us confidence to reject the claim the report. However, if we cannot do that, then we are back to the old situation.
This method is based on a physical model. The idea is powerful and simple. It is possible to model more effects, for example, curvature of earth, deviation of path from the plane etc. Closed-form expressions may be difficult. But a technical person could do this.
My intention was to share my idea about this so called eye witness report. May be someone could refine it.

Now, I will try to use the distances from google maps for the locations indicated in the above link and calculated what would have been the delay at the photographers location. (By the way, path from launch to impact is almost a straight line.)
I took the assumed launch point as what was claimed by the photographs. Put the photographer in the shown location in Torez and the hit point as above Rozyspnye (suggested by ABC).
For this case,
Distance from launch point to Rozyspnye , b = 22.5 km ,
Distance from photographer in Torez to launch point, x1 = 11.1km,
Distance between Rozyspnye and photograpger, appox. x1-b = 11.4km, h = 10300m
Choosing mach 2.7 speed, sound speed 340m/s
For excess =0%, delay should be 39.4sec
For excess = 30%, delay should be 47 sec
For excess=50%, delay should be 52 sec
Excess path is only going to increase the delay. So this cannot be blamed. What this shows is that the photographer could not have heard the sound of launch at hit with a delay of 15 sec as was told in his interview. This is my conclusion.

The fact that we haven’t learned/heard anything from/about audio or recorded information about flight and other data [as both ‘black ‘ boxes have been recovered] of MH17 is fully self-explanatory. What I did has been clearly stated. All simplifying assumptions, reasons etc. If there is anything wrong in the analysis, you or anybody else is welcome to point out. But do it with proper reasoning. I am not interested in anything else. This is how science is done.
If the locations where sounds are produced are known it is possible to calculate the delay at a particular location.
In fact, according the results, it turns out that the photographer could not heard a delay of 15 sec (between launch sound and hit sound), as was told in his interview, at his location for the given location of launch and hit. This in fact is to the disadvantage to the claims of the photographer.
If we have sufficient data to refute a theory scientifically, that is the best way to do it. I saw a possibility, I tried it and shared it with the community. I do not expect everyone to understand it or appreciate it. It may turn out that, this analysis is too simplistic. However, for now, I have nothing to think otherwise. In fact, any scientific questioning is highly welcomed.

For the above to be addressed, we propose a few remedies that may open the debate and conversion. In our opinion, the collective Opposition and concerned backbenchers must, on behalf of all Canadians, demand a formal, immediate, open and transparent inquiry into how the PMO is utilizing tax-payer resources to contaminate and gaslight discussion and comment threads.

March 6th (day after last known Putin public meeting photo) was in the interval when the security services were most concentrating on the Nemtsov assassination.
I hope Putin is fine, but if he was killed around then, I’d suggest Nemtsov killing’s primary purpose was to distract the security services.
And that would fit with the Nemtsov killing being so threaded through with weird seemingly illogical and mysterious features. All the better to drive the security guys nuts, and make them take their eyes off other important things.
Man, I hope this is not true. If Putin died, and the causes were not totally natural, then we all know exactly who is responsible.
