According to the BBC Western leaders are having a great time in Munich: they are re-igniting the Cold War under the pretext of – what else? – “supporting democracy” in the Ukraine:
European Council President Herman Van Rompuy said the “future of Ukraine belongs with the EU” while US Secretary of State John Kerry said the US backed Ukraine’s “fight for democracy“.(…) Mr Van Rompuy’s opening speech referred to the EU’s offer of close association with Ukraine. “The offer is still there and we know time is on our side. The future of Ukraine belongs with the European Union,” he said. Mr Kerry launched a broad attack on “a disturbing trend in too many parts of Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans“. He said: “The aspirations of citizens are once again being trampled beneath corrupt, oligarchic interests – interests that use money to stifle political opposition and dissent, to buy politicians and media outlets, and to weaken judicial independence.” Mr Kerry added: “Nowhere is the fight for a democratic, European future more important today than in Ukraine. The United States and EU stand with the people of Ukraine in that fight.” He said the “vast majority of Ukrainians want to live freely in a safe and prosperous country – they are fighting for the right to associate with partners who will help them realise their aspirations“. In an apparent swipe at Moscow, he added that “their futures do not have to lie with one country alone, and certainly not coerced“. (…) The White House has confirmed it is discussing possible sanctions against Ukraine with the US Congress. Before arriving in Munich, Mr Kerry said that concessions from President Viktor Yanukovych had “not yet reached an adequate level of reform“.
Ain’t that something? When Yanokovich does exactly *nothing* to stop the neo-Nazi rioters from burning cops, seizing government buildings, threatening to “go on the attack”, calling for the overthrow of the government and openly calling for the intervention of foreign powers the West considers that as “trampling upon democracy”. But when Eltsin orders his tank to shoot at the Russian Parliament and kills thousands of civilians the West gives him full support.
Go figure…. Democracy is so complicated to understand….
In the meantime, Yanukovich has made it known that he has the flu and that he needs some time off to recover. Seriously, I kid you not. The Ukraine is on the edge of a civil war, and that fat clown is on “sick leave”.
Which raises a question in my mind: who is the most despicable person and the most pathetic President – Eltsin and his vodka or Yanukovich with his flu?
Now, there is good news coming from the Crimean Peninsula: the government of the Crimea and authorities of the city of Sevastopol have come to a full agreement. They have jointly decided to create and mobilize a “citizen militia” which will act in support of the Peninsula’s police forces. In other words, the Crimean authorities are preparing to secede from the Ukraine if the regime in Kiev falls. Furthermore, they are preparing to defend Crimea against any possible attempt by the nationalist to take it by force. Truly, they have no choice in this matter because the nationalists all want to kick out the Black Sea Fleet form Sevastopol, revoke the special status of the Crimean Peninsula, and “Ukrainify” it. For the people of Crimea a nationalist coup in Kiev is truly an existential threat.
As for Russia, I can only repeat what I wrote earlier: Russia will not directly intervene in this conflict. The only exception to this principle would be a violent attempt by nationalists to seize Crimea by force. In that case there is no doubt in my mind that Russia will intervene militarily, even at a risk of a confrontation with NATO.
Personally, I think that the West will order the nationalists to refrain from trying to take Crimea by force. Whether these rabid psychopaths will listen is anybody’s guess.
The Saker
Slaker,
Just more of the same from the ‘democratic’ forces, using swarm techniques. What happens to the folks in Ukraine doesn’t matter much – anything to undermine Russia. I sense that Yunokovich doesn’t know what’s happening to him and doesn’t realize his peril.
Good grief! Just the term democracy make my stomach turn, two wolves and a sheep voting on who’s for dinner.

Kerry, Ukraine opposition leaders agree ‘concrete further moves’ to settle crisis

The same exact Israeli puppets who sent terrorists to Syria are instructing the Ukraine “opposition”.
One of the ways the Russians neutralised these zionist/NWO “color revolutionaries” was to give them enough rope to hang themselves. They sat back let the sods expose themselves as puppets of western masters, recorded the goings on and then made sure every Russian knew about those connections.
Could possibly be this is the same strategy Yanukovich & co. are working on. Like the Russians, sitting back and giving the coup makers enough rope to hang themselves with it. An interesting interview with the mayor of Kharkov that may be hinting at such a strategy:
Russia is the only country to help Ukraine in crisis – Kharkov Mayor
http://voiceofrussia.com/2014_02_01/Russia-is-the-only-country-to-help-Ukraine-in-crisis-Kharkov-Mayor-1725/
It’s obvious the ziofascists/NWO strategy is to trigger a crackdown on their puppets. We all know why. With the Ukraine guv not doing this, that strategy is failing. Not letting your opponent’s actions control your next moves is the first basic step to frustrating their own moves.

Another interesting interview:
Ukraine affair displays ‘absolute disconnect in US foreign policy’

Sample:
“DM: You see, there is a debate as to whether the people on the streets are being control by the opposition or are they out of control of the opposition. There is the information that I’m sure you have reported on already that some of the computers seized from some of the opposition parties indicate that this has been planned for quite some time, including the violent component of the protests.
So the question is, do the people on the streets follow the opposition? We know people like Klitschko who meets Kerry says one thing and then talks to the supporters on the street, and speaks in a whole different language, a very violent language. And of course as your viewers know, there are many people in the opposition who are extraordinary unsavory in their views. And these are the people that John McCain for example sat down and had dinner with when he was there in December, these are neo-Nazis.
Interestingly enough John McCain has made a surprise visit to Budapest today. One can only wonder what he is discussing with the Hungarian government. As we know, there is a large Hungarian minority in parts of Ukraine.”

The west seems too desperate to afford to loose any steam now. Even civil war seems to be included in their attempt to colonize Ukraine, so what now?
NATO have been busy, up until Russia gave them a bloody noose in Georgia, turning Black sea into a NATO lake so Crimea and Odessa oblast must be crucial that regard and McCain is in Hungary obviously trying to stir something up on that front. If Russia feel threatened and they should certainly do at the prospects of having NATO getting comfortable, sabre-rattling and building it´s infrastructure so close to Moscow (NATO´s amnesia-ridden kriegs-fuhrer, the Danish prick Anders Foggy Ratmussen was very triumphant in his speech), they must pull out the big guns sooner or later because if NATO is countered with a language they clearly understand´s (Georgia) they eventually chicken out. So, if NATO can´t get Donbass, Odessa and Crimea by local fascist mobs, what use would Lvov and the western part (if partitioned) be to them? That´s a little bit too risky just to give EU a market and some cheap labour, isn´t it?
In the news was that an´independent´ Russian TV station: Dozhd TV was blocked by the ´evil dictator´ Putin.
At least one new topic in the endless barrage against the RF and its president everyday.
Not surprising that in Wikipedia, I found as partners: BBC, Deutsche Welle and…. Voice of America (!!!)
So, CIA written all over it. In their comments section I usually try to debunk and enlighten, but lately Iḿ getting censored quite regularly!
re.: The future of Ukraine belongs with the European Union
Eastern and Western Europe have been two separate entities since Diocletian first decided the Roman Empire was just too damn big to be manageable (293 AD).
The current situation in Spain, Italy and Greece would suggest that Western Europe is not ready for the size it has already aspired to.
That being said, the real difference of opinion here is whether the policies of a (re)united Europe should be “negotiated” through violence or diplomacy.
What the situation calls for is a United Europe eReferendum, polling people from Lisbon to Vladivostok, to see whether the critical mass would indeed choose Violence over Diplomacy.
While we’re at it, there are a LOT of diasporic Europeans in North America. WTH, let’s poll them too! And Australia. Surely anything the NSA can do, we can do better. This IS the 3rd Millennium, after all.
It is more like a desperate action by the Empire to maintain total control in Europe.
Nowaday, except the Quislings, who in Europe would not see Russia as a contra-balance force for the hegemon?
It was reported by BBC that a leading opposition activist was kidnapped and tortured for several days that showed a video clip of him being treated in hospital with clear visible signs of beatings.
As many are speculating, it may that Yanukovich’s strategy of rope-a-dope is working. The demonstrators don’t offer anything, and they are obviously on the payroll of the West.
What would happen if Russia had an argument with Ukraine over gas now? Russia had offered a lower price and some help.
Are there any provocations the West could easily try?
Paul
What of the legitimate issues that face the Ukrainians outside of Western Empire, for example Donestk Oligarchs who take over businesses and engorge themselves? This in conjunction with the extended family of Yunokovich?
In my travels there I have heard how easily it is for successful business people to have their businesses taken from them and they are impoverished as a result.
That coupled with some of the Police Force abuses in parts of Ukraine, there must be something that can be done to clean this up.
I know there have been attempts in the Russian Durma to introduce legislation to curb corruption like disallowing foreign capital and real estate holdings of sitting members and their immediate family. This I think is a good thing to strive for as is also the clear declaration of financial support for NGO’s that receive finance from outside sources.
Are there any politicians at the national level in Ukraine that would be for the betterment of Ukraine and not just enriching themselves?
Can’t say it is much different though in the West with Politicians but maybe less brutal in their methods. Corruption though is corruption and it is in abundance in the West as it is else where.
Jack, he has clear signs of being bandaged but his story has withered away about being beaten and left for dead. Its just another inane western provocation aimed at the gullible (no offense intended).
Not that I want to promote the “competition” but I found this really insightful. As a (central) European you often start with the (mistaken) default assumption, that the further you go east the more underdeveloped the countries become. This article shows with a lot of economic statistics and facts that the west part of Ukraine is economically backward and the east is more developed. It also connects this to the difference in the political situation.
http://darussophile.com/2014/02/everything-is-annihilated-the-split-of-ukraine-on-the-basis-of-economic-data-important-text/
D.
My take is also along the lines of Yanukovich not swallowing the bait; not due to his great competency or anything of the sort, but IMHO being wisely advised by the Russians.
Here is the summary of an article by Nikolay Starikov, a politicolog from St. Petersburg:
Yanukovich let the enemy have the initiative, sacrificed some things along, and then forced him into a corner.
Victory of the “opposition” is out of the question; it’s now negotiating an acceptable form of defeat.
Violent takeover of power in Kiev or regions inevitably leads to a split, which, in turn, leads to a war. West is fully aware of that fact and doesn’t need it.
If Ukraine falls apart, West gets all the “zapadnyaks” (westerners) with nothing else, while Russia loses them and gets all the industry.
Nobody knows how is this going to end. Only the trio Yacenyuk – Klichko – Tjagnibok maybe does; that’s why they look so unhappy.
1. The pressure on Yanukovich to sign the association agreement with EU began when he refused to sign it. Until then, as president he was not delegitimized / criticized / reproached for anything.
2. Noone remembers the agreement today. It means the goal has been reached: Ukraine was not given to the EU on a silver platter.
3. Ssubsequent steps of the “opposition,” lead by the American embassy & its domestic quislings, are a dangerous chess game for the common people (pawns whose well-being & lives mean nothing).
4. Yanukovich didn’t swallow the hook nor was he defeated. He let the “opposition” to have the initiative, sacrificed few things along, and then cornered his enemy.
a) He let the “peaceful” demonstrators to show their true faces (burning/beating/stoning conscripts) by not preventing the attempt to storm the presidential office.
b) Parlament then passed a set of laws threatening the opposition leaders with prison sentences putting them into a difficult position: they had to react quickly or retreat as cowards & lose support.
Nonviolent protesters would appear as if people support the coup, but the street fights with police in front of TV cameras did the opposite turning them into law-breaking bandits instead of freedom fighters.
c) Berkut unit prevented an attempt of few hundred well-armed / trained bandits to storm the Rada (parlament) building; > 200 were wounded; whole world saw this for a fact.
Unfortunately, all TV channels being in the hands of opposition provide no other way for a victory in this media war.
Note: it was done on Sunday evening; the building was almost empty; noone tried to enter it from the other side; the trio’s goal: a show of its “argument” – bandits in action & their brute force.
d) Passive resistance of the government’s forces infuriated the bandits. The crowd turned into an uncontrolable mab; a new argument in the government’s hands: unlike you, we control our forces.
e) Understanding well its bad fate, the opposition began to negotiate. It doesn’t need the Maidan any more. When the battles began, numerous western “diplomats” began to avoid the Maidan square.
The trio’s task is to reach any compromise & present it as a victory. Too late! Laws recently passed become active; thus, no agreement was reached.
f) It’s the “opposition’s” turn. Ouch! It fails to convince the world that the newly appearing dead protesters were victims of the Berkut snipers. It’s quite indicative that the western press didn’t thunder: “bloody regime!”
g) Again, the passivity of the Berkut forces, which only motionlessly stand in cordons, debunk the theasis about “brutal regime” which can’t be really accused of anything alike.
Time works for the police.
An emotional mab is a dangerous force indeed. Yet, its weakness is it doesn’t last for too long.
(cont)
h) Next argument of the opposition: takeovers of administration institutions in the regions. West fails to get the desired picture of a “people’s uprising,” and Ukraine slowely fades from the news, while Maidan is left with less & less of growling to do before it’s over. Only a violent removal of the protesters would turn them into martyrs, but Yanukovich is smart enough not to give them such a present.
i) A masterful victorious movement by president Yanukovich: offers the post of prime minister to Yatsenuk and the post of deputy minister for social matters to Klichko. A knockdown!
If they agreed, it meant:
– Taking responsibility for something they wanted Yanukovich to be solely guilty for before the elections;
– To their great shame, Yanukovich can always remove them from the posts;
– Social matters = a curse, like the agriculture in USSR, failure (success) is guarantied (impossible);
– Nothing was offered to Tjagnibok despite most of the bandits being his followers;
– Refusal of the posts is equaly bad: then the trio are only noisy clowns unfit for the job(s).
j) Thus the opposition’s answer is taken from Trotsky: we don’t accept, but neither refuse – because it has nothing to say / offer. Knockdown!
What now? The trio will try to discuss termination of the laws against them, declare a victory, & end the Euro-Maidan. Other Yanukovich’s concessions arent’ nothing but a rope.
Conclusion: Government has brought the opposition into a situation in which its every additional move is self-destructive.
Overthrow didn’t and won’t succeed (Euro-Maidan mab is not told that truth yet).
Victory of the “opposition is out of the question; it’s now negotiating an acceptable form of defeat.
Russia doesn’t need a split Ukraine nor a war on its borders either.
SO, support from the West to the “opposition” is wining down, while Russia’s help to Yanukovich remains in place.
United under the crap that was the USSR, Russia and Ukraine developed many great things together and still do. From shipping to Aerospace technologies.
Would be a shame to see that to go. Also, which country supplies heavy lifting rocket engines to NASA and US Military for space launches??? Sure as hell isn’t the USA and which country provides a vital life line to the International Space Station?? Scratching my brains out over this one but again, sure as hell isn’t the USA.
Makes you think, in the name of empire and greed, they are prepared to cut their noses off to spite themselves. NSA must have supplied Bibi Nutjob with some great intel on Congress and the White House to have their balls so collectively owned.
Oh look, a hornets nest, lets go over there and kick it a bit and see what happens. Morons.
It’s Jews in the East fighting Jews in the West.
The nationalists are fighting for a Ukraine controlled by Ukrainians, and not ny Jewish puppets.
I deeply hope that they will succeed in freeing themsleves.
And hey, national socialism is the future for Europe. It’s the only way for the White race to survive.
“The aspirations of citizens are once again being trampled beneath corrupt, oligarchic interests – interests that use money to stifle political opposition and dissent, to buy politicians and media outlets, and to weaken judicial independence.”
Has John Kerry ever visited the USA ?
And hey, national socialism is the future for Europe. It’s the only way for the White race to survive.
Because that worked so well the last time.
I don’t know the situation in Ukraine from the post Cold war period but it sounds like Yanakovich is a Yeltsin like character and Russia’s support stems from there support of his PM.
The Nazi rabble, especially in Western Europe, shows convincingly that National Socialism much boils down to unrequited love/feeling of neglect among White trash populations. Like a madly jealous lover, an average present-day Nazi in Western Europe rages and fumes, correctly noting that the predominantly White imperialist Establishment fails more and more in delivering the bribes from global looting to preserve social cohesion and upward social mobility for Whitey.
As regards Eastern Europe, there is still a significant, should I say, “more backward” part of the Nazi community that remains über-faithful, die-hard, delusional Western worshippers as we’ve seen among the Balts, Psheks, and Ukros. All the hardships they have endured courtesy of Western imperialism are consequently blamed on Moscow.
Ergo: Whether in the West or in the East, National Socialism reamins the opium of the insecure White petty bourgeoisie. Take that.
One more good article on Ukraine. Yet another zionazi so-called US ambassador inciting yet another civil war for the benefit of his sick zionazi establishment:
