by Stephen Karganovic
US Vice President Joseph Biden just completed a “three day visit to Serbia.” The phrase in parentheses is the spin Serbia’s puppet government in Belgrade puts on it. He actually spent only a couple of hours in Belgrade, just enough to deliver instructions. From there he flew off to Prishtina to spend the bulk of his time on Serbian territory in the NATO occupied province of Kosovo with his real friends, who were put in charge as a result of the 1999 aggression against Yugoslavia.
It is assumed that Biden’s visit will be the last to the Balkans by a senior Obama Administration official, so it may be of more than passing policy significance. What kind of message did Biden bring to Serbia and the occupied province of Kosovo?
There is no reliable way of answering that question other than by observing carefully Serbian government’s moves in the visit’s wake, which should give us the necessary clues. Official statements make it clear that the overall purpose of the visit was to strong-arm the Serbian government into accelerating its alignment with NATO and EU, which are practically synonymous. Explicit (and rather ominous) reference was made to Serbia’s standardization of arms and equipment with NATO. Another important “unfinished business” item was to put the final touches on Serbia’s abandonment of NATO-occupied Kosovo. Next month, for no discernible reason other than an otherwise empty, symbolic gesture of Western-mandated “regional cooperation,” the Serbian cabinet will hold a joint session with not only its counterparts from Albania, but also with officials of break-away Kosovo, who will attend as a government entity even though Kosovo is legally a part of Serbia. Needless to say, the agenda of “regional cooperation” and strict adherence to Biden’s injunctions must prevail, and the separatists will not be arrested by the Serbian authorities for treason at this meeting.
An important additional feature of Biden’s ultimatums, according to well-informed sources, is explicit policy coordination with the Western power block on an increasing number of levels, including adopting sanctions against Russia. It does not matter that at this late stage of the game it is clear that sanctions imposed by economic powers far mightier than Serbia have been a fiasco and that Serbia’s participation with the Western sanctions wolf pack will have no tangible economic impact whatsoever on Russia. But being forced into taking such a disloyal decision will symbolically confirm Serbia’s submission, and that is the point of it.
One of the details noted by some observers is the American side’s admission that US legal advisors helped the Serbian government make reforms to its criminal law code, police institutions and whistleblower protection measures. Even those who have long suspected that American influence in Serbia was strong may be dismayed by this revelation that Washington was directly “helping” Belgrade even to write its laws.
But that is only the tip of the iceberg. Western emissaries, including their local Serbian NGO hirelings, are in charge not just of writing laws but are stealthily reshaping Serbia’s other strategic institutions as well. For instance, Western “advisors” are rewriting Serbian schoolbooks from the low grades on up. Western officials are ensconced in all major Serbian government ministries, purportedly to offer advice on better performance. That at least was the public rationale behind the “delivery unit” scam that was perpetrated by the unindicted 1999 Kosovo war criminal Tony Blair, when slightly over a year ago his agency was hired to impart its management wisdom to Serbia’s government. But in reality they are there in a supervisory and intelligence capacity, of course. A likely forthcoming step is for the Serbian government to use its current parliamentary majority to remove the constitutional provision which mandates that Kosovo is an inalienable part of Serbia. That is a key feature of the Kosovo “normalization of relations” plan ordered by Biden. The otherwise pointless joint cabinet meeting, including Kosovo “ministers” in a setting that implies separate statehood, is an incremental step in that direction and one of the fruits of Biden’s visit.
Some argue that, as a counterweight, there are the planned Russian-Serbian military drills next month near the Croatian border. From this and other evidence of similar nature it is suggested that the Serbian government is engaged in an intricate “balancing act” between the two blocks, and even deserves some praise for its diplomatic adroitness.
It is theoretically possible that such sanguine observers are privy to some strategic information which the rest of us do not have, but a safer bet would be that they are deluding themselves with regard to Serbia’s “balancing act.” The Serbian government is as entirely in the pocket of its Western puppet-masters as the Serbian people are committed to the closest possible alliance with Russia and the Eurasian block. The regime is using the politically inconsequential President Nikolic as a Russia-friendly façade, just as it is using PR stunts such as joint exercises with Russian forces, as a tool to deflect attention from its steady slide into the Atlanticist political and military camp arrayed against Russia.
It is becoming increasingly clear to even the most torpid observers that Serbia’s governing clique is being ferociously pressed to accept a geopolitical choice that is patently immoral, opposed to their country’s values and traditions, and contrary to the national interest. The time has once again come for “Serbia is to find its soul.” That was Winston Churchill’s memorable remark, made in a different context but in an eerily similar situation, following the 1941 popular coup in Belgrade which deposed a craven regime that in its time made a disastrously wrong geopolitical choice by signing a short-lived pact with the Axis. The way for Serbia to find its soul today is to urgently start working to restore its natural alliances and to forswear the execrable political choices that are being made for it by the country’s corrupt elite.
Slowly but steadily rising Russia will deal with this situation when the time is right. The ZioNazi block is running out of tricks…

His tongue speaks the same

Speaking again for us to tell

Here we go again, promoting a color revolution in Serbia…
How come we don’t hear Putin urging “Serbia to find its soul”? Could it be that he is “privy to some strategic information which the rest of us do not have”? Or maybe he is just “deluding himself” by the fact that Serbia did not and will not join western sanctions against Russia and that Serbia did not and will not join NATO.
To further confuse Kremlin, Serbia DID join Russian Victory Day parades despite loud protests from the west and Serbia DID hold a military parade for Putin when the Empire was trying hard to sell the “Russia is isolated” meme. And then we have those tricky Serbian official news agencies that make such a big deal about Russian and Chinese state visits while treating the visits of US officials such as Biden and Nuland as practically non-events. But, according to Mr. Kaganovich, every pro-Russian move by Serbian government is a façade, while every west-soothing stance must be a real deal.
It is becoming increasingly clear to even the most torpid observers that Mr. Kaganovich is a shill. Unfortunately for him, there aren’t enough gullible Serbs around that are willing to buy his medicine. He is, of course, free to write a political platform and present it to Serbian public for evaluation…during the next general election…in 2020.
It is NATO operatives that reside in the Serbian Defence Ministry, not Russians. You will find Tony Blair’s “advisors” in every other Serbian Ministry, but no one from Russia.
While it is no doubt true that ordinary Serbs are hostile to NATO and sympathetic to Russia, it remains to be seen how much they can influence the Serbian “democratic” process which is designed to confuse the public and bring to power any one of a dozen NATO-financed political parties.
NATO operatives? Tony Blair’s advisors? Really? Would you care to name a few?
Saying that ordinary Serbs are hostile to NATO while at the same time they keep voting for “NATO-financed political parties” implies that ordinary Serbs are stupid. Is that what you are claiming?
“Saying that ordinary Serbs are hostile to NATO while at the same time they keep voting for “NATO-financed political parties” implies that ordinary Serbs are stupid. Is that what you are claiming?”
So what would be your thinking on that. If ,as we keep hearing,Serbs are hostile to the people that destroyed them. And yet keep on electing supporters of the same NATO that bombed Serbia. What reason would you give for that behavior.
The Word we are looking for is “Ignorant.” That describes things more correctly. Just like the Donbass didn’t reject the disolution of the USSR and the creation of an Independent Ukraine. They were ignorant of the intent, not stupid.
In Serbia its a boiling frog scenario going on.
@Diaspora_M
Sorry, but “ignorant” just won’t fly. After decades of geo-political turmoil literally banging on your head, you would have to be STUPID not to understand some basics. I dare say Serbs are neither ignorant nor stupid. You really need to come back here and talk to some ordinary folks…you know, the farmers and miners type. It might change your perspective.
Oh I’ve spoken to them, I still do every so often. I also ran into an interesting group of people who actually thought they came up with what became the yellow revolution on their own. That it was all their idea. What a wonderfully effective psyop for them to believe their protest changed something for the better and wasn’t a coup.
They are in the distinct minority and even they Love Russia and Putin by leaps and bounds over the West. Still run into ignorance especially in the cities… Same “progressive” mindset as in the west makes them blind.
As for what you describe with Uncle Bob, I agree with you, I think you hit the nail on the head.
@Uncle Bob 1
The way your question is structured is wherein lies the problem. It implies that Serbian people’s hostility towards NATO is a hearsay, while their government’s support of NATO is a fact. The truth is exactly the other way around:
Nobody in Serbia likes NATO! The number of people that would opt for joining this organization is on the level of statistical error. THAT is a fact…and what you “keep hearing” (unfortunately on this site as well) is that current Serbian government is pro-NATO, submitted to US, puppet of the west and similar nonsense. The number of people in Serbia that keep spewing that nonsense is slightly larger than statistical error, but thankfully still inconsequential. The term that is often used here to describe them is “hurray patriots”.
Don’t get me wrong. I’d be happiest man alive if Serbia could fully be incorporated into the “Russian World”. Heck, I wouldn’t even mind us being a federal unit of The Russian Federation, but you need to understand that for Serbia to completely stop flirting with the west (at this point in time) would be suicidal.
The people that are asking for this course of action are either being irresponsible and petulant, or even worse: malicious. What they consistently fail to address is: What happens next? Will the Empire sit idly by and simply allow Serbia to move in that direction? And if it tries to prevent it by force, how can Serbs defend themselves? Will Russia be able to help? Unfortunately, Serbia is not Crimea, it’s not even Donbass. Serbia is surrounded by NATO. Does Russia really need a new front, especially one where it holds much weaker cards?
This now is a big players game and any rash and uncoordinated move by the “small fish” can only be detrimental to the common cause. I strongly believe that most Serbs understand this…and are voting accordingly.
Very well said, thank you
They have replaced the old Turk with the new one from the West. This will give them an opportunity to blame victimization into the next two centuries. .
Serbian goverment is totally submitted to US, no doubt about that. Who in their right mind would welcome a war criminal such as Biden? The man who at some stage was the main proponent of NATO agression on Yugoslavia in 1999? The man who said that Serbs are monsters. The man who is forcing Serbia to recognise Kosovo as an independent country? Give me a break. What is happening in Serbia is a disgrace for generations of Serb who sacrified their lives for freedom of Serbia and Serbian people. Serbia today is just another puppet of US hegemon.
You think, they are running out of tricks? Not so fast! Yes, many things don´t develop as they would like to. That makes them panic, meaning unpredictable. True, that they are loosing ground almost everywhere, a new experience for them. Agony I call that. Hopefully Russia can keep a cool mind.
The U.S. government, having illegally sent American troops into Syria, is now threatening to attack the Syrian military if it endangers those troops, an Orwellian twist that marks a dangerous escalation, explains Daniel Lazare.
“As we’ve said in the past,” he added, “the Syrian regime would be well-advised not to interfere with coalition forces or our partners.”
Such statements are little less than Orwellian since the United States has essentially invaded Syria by inserting military forces without Syrian government permission in violation of international law. What Davis was saying, therefore, is that the U.S. will prevent Syria from protecting its own forces on its own soil, which was rather like the Wehrmacht condemning Poland for daring to defend its own territory in September 1939.
Sen. McCarthy was essentially right. Only it should have been called jewish instead of communist.
Look up Warren(as of the JFK. komission) and Tito.
Ferinstance…
Can you direct me to a good, concise summary of what the Clinton I Administration did to the peoples of Yugoslavia in the 1990’s? I’m afraid I was trusting in the the American mainstream media at the time. Thanks.
i think the Saker has written quite a bit about it, search for it on this site.
Essentially, it was a major abortion/lewinsky. At the time Russia was toothless.
Yet, the islamic stronghold in Europe is well established.
A gift, that will keep giving.
NATO/Jihadist stronghold it seems, if you are referring to Kosovo..

Within the US, Joe Biden was known as the Senator from MasterCard. He ‘represented’ Delaware, which is a corporate controlled internal US tax haven. US corporations often have their official ‘HeadQuarters’ listed as being in Delaware, even if no other operations are there. Well, until they flee the US completely and move abroad to avoid paying even the limited taxes in the corporate state of Delaware.
Its a sure bet that the Senators from Delaware are strongly dedicated to representing corporate interests. Thus, Sen. Joe Biden was known as the Senator from MasterCard.
Its also a sure bet that Biden was not named VP because Obama felt he needed help winning the 3 electoral votes of DE. Biden was named VP to bring the bankers money on board and to make sure the bankers knew they were on Team Obama.
So, if Joe Biden is visiting, its a pretty sure bet that what he’s doing is delivering the instructions of the Masters of the Universe. A
Thanks for the info, Anon, SK, and other commenters… Mein Gott, watching Biden on “The Weight of Chains” is just… “nauseating” ain’t even the word. It’s not as though the Powers that Be/Were even try to answer accusations any more. That anyone in this country would lecture _anyone_ from Serbia about human rights is an unforgivable disgrace. The US political establishment seem to be the only ones on earth who actually believes anyone takes their nonsense seriously. RT’s reporting on State Department briefings beats anything in comedic film, and State has no clue; no sense of irony. Nor history. The results of combined ignorance and arrogance are all around us, perhaps the last “Olympics” were some kind of staged last hurrah. One can only hope.
Admittedly, the rape and dismemberment of Serbia was a dry run for subsequent NATZO attrocities, culminating in the attempted rape and dismemberment of Syria. However, I do not see Serbia resisting NATZO on its own, any more than Syria was able to resist on its own. Fortunately, the courage and integrity of Syria’s Dr.Assad attracted the interest of other leaders with courage and integrity – notably, the Reverend Nasr’Allah of Lebanon and President Putin of Russia; entraining support from Iran and China in turn. Having outfought and outwitted NATZO, these 3 leaders are building a new Middle East: the Arch of Stability that runs from Syria and Lebanon through Iraq to Iran – and on to the Far East and its New Silk Road of world trade. Serbia likewise should look for allies. There is a natural Arch of Orthodoxy in the Balkans: Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece – with cultural and geographical links to Russia. These 3 countries ought to leave the EUSA and NATZO, and align with Russia. Unfortunately, I do not see any Balkan leaders showing enough courage and integrity to attract allies – certainly not in Greece.
Serbia, unfortunately, can not rely on any Balkan country, nor even orthodox one. The only instance when there was apparent unity was the 1st Balkan war in 1912, and even that unity (Bulgaria, Greece and Serbia) was organized from outside, mainly by England, in order to expel Ottoman empire from Balkan peninsula, which, regrettably but not unexpectedly, was left incomplete.
Serbs tried to, through Yugoslav concept (an ethno-geographic and nonreligious unification) resolve the problem of being constantly pushed around and invaded by colonial powers, or stabbed back by the local ones, but that, as it turned out, was only partially successful. Tito, fearing Stalin, tried to expand this concept to Balkan federation (geographical-socialist concept), by uniting with Bulgaria and Albania, but that fizzled out when Stalin discovered it.
Now Serbs are divided into 3 countries, approximately where they were just before WWI, and the chance of their unification, in near terms, is small but not negligible. Each country is under direct supervision of EU or USA gauleiter, and a large number of ISIS troups stationed in Bosnia, Albanian mercenaries in Kosovo, Croat Ustashis and Nato mercenaries all around, guarantees swift massacres at any thought of uprisal or reunification. And I am not saying it lightly.
There is no other nation in the world (except perhaps Congo) that has been genocided 3 times just in the 20-th century like the Serbs, always by the “civilized” EU-nations, amply helped by the not-so-civilized Balkan nations. In the WWI, in WWII and in the wars of 1991-1999.
The current leadership of Serbia, not impressive by any of the usual standards, can not objectively do much, since Serbian military is almost completely disarmed, while economics, finances, health and education are under control of EU-satraps. And one can imagine how that looks and feels! The current leaders, therefore, have no other option at present but to avoid unnecessary loss in lives and markets while waiting for the opportunity to reunite with republika Srpska and Montenegro. Whether or not there are secret movements to prepare for just such a historical moment I don’t know. I should hope so. Serbs do have a credible history of doing precisely that.
But they also have a credible history of paying a stiff price for that.

Welcome back Spiral, it is always a great pleasure to read your comments.
Your comments are spot on Spiral.
Look if Russia really wanted to help Serbia then send 20 Billion worth of the most high tech equipment you have to Serbia. Send the S-500 anti-missle, etc… But, Russia won’t do it. Why? Well people will say they have limited resources. Ok, i understand that. That’s the point. Russia cannot compete with NATO economically. If you are a country on the bubble about whether to join Russia… like Brazil you see what happened with them and how the CIA took that country over.
Even if Russia gave Serbia 20 Billion in military aid what would NATO’s response be? NATO would literally invade Serbia with ground troops. Don’t kid yourself. What’s going on in the world is so heartbreaking. I thought with the end of the Cold War humanity would move FORWARD. Instead, we are repeating the mistakes of history. Make no mistake about it. Full spectrum dominance is what they want and what does that mean. It means controlling everything and they will destroy Russia. They will try. This time around you can not count on Serbia to slow them down or anything. Serbia pretty much doesn’t have a military. Certainly not one to stand up to NATO. They couldn’t in 1999 and it’s even worse now.
Romania and Bulgaria are nothing but NATO stooges. Don’t expect anything from them. They sent soldiers to kill Russians in WW2. This is who they are. They hate Russians. Ukrainians, Poles, Croats… they hate Serbs and Russians. This is how they DEFINE THEMSELVES. THROUGHT THEIR HATE. The Red Army should have depopulated Eastern Europe of all the Russophobes and now they have strength again and THEY WILL ATTACK.
It’s in their blood. They are evil. Americans and Anglo/Zionist biggest export is hatred. That is all they have HATE. That is who they are … HATE. Let’s just get it over with and let’s have it out. If this is how it ends so be it. Americans are just getting unemployed and living in squalor. Same with Serbs and other Eastern European peoples. I just hope when the moment comes Putin doesn’t hesitate and destroys them. And don’t forget to throw 1000 nukes at Israel, too. Too bad about the Palestinians living there, but it’s for the greater good. There is nothing worth fighting for. Let’s just all die.
Serbian people just like this situation as tehy incline to the West.
We can pretend that we do not see this but the majority is still obsessed with the west and the western way of life as they always were. They just adore USA, American films. The young elite dreams about just visiting New York.
Historically, Serbs know very well Russians, French, Germans, Turks etc, friends and foes. What they do not possess in their collective memory and experience is the one of the Anglos as anything special. They were never really in the direct collision course with the empire, until the 90’s. Serbs considered Anglos as allies and admired their culture. The fact is: “Serbs do not forget history.” Kosovo might wait for some time on “to do next” list, but knowing Serbs they will take it back even though it means fighting the empire directly. In their essence, Serbs value their freedom and their land more then any material stuff west can offer. They are not afraid to die in a good fight. But the time is not ripe yet. This is a very dirty game going on. No honor in this sh** nowadays. Petty cash. We need to recover. Empire is still strong. We lost too many good man in the last century and we are surrounded with their mercenary states at the moment; exactly like in the WW2. This needs to be played smart for a change, otherwise, I am afraid, they will mince-meat us, even if we somehow win in the end. Half of my ancestors died fighting the west or the east. That’s not a problem per se. The problem is to f*** them properly at the end, once and for all. Before that happen we need to have our naive, needy and culturally infected to wake up and see through the BS. We need that collective certainty. Anger is here already. Not long to go I trust.
That might be true about Serbian people that YOU hang out with.
I don’t see the bulk of young people in Serbia, these days, being obsessed with the West or adoring the USA, anymore. If they have jobs, they work very hard for abysmal wages. But it’s better than nothing. Luckily, families are still close-knit.
Darko’s belief is ‘old hat’ and applies to Titoist times. Then, everybody adored America and wanted to live there. It was chic. Now, young people are aware of what is going on in the West. What will happen when people from the western countries move to the East in search of work. That might just happen.

As has become known Republika Srpska newspaper “Blitz!”, in the course of its yet last year’s visit to Serbia, Vladimir Putin and President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic signed the secret protocol proved the new military base of the Russian Federation, allegedly in southern Serbia. The history of the database runs from the last year, however, recently Moscow visited one of the members of the Serbian Cao Ganchuan, during the visit of the specified parts of the cooperation.

If Washington is now writing the law in Serbia, that really means that corporate America is doing so, because they are who write the laws in our country–using the bought and paid for congress and presidency as a facade, of course. And, if Serbia refuses to comply, by allowing Washington to brainwash its children and giving Washington legal jurisdiction of the land through proxy stooges? I suppose it will be embargoed and sanctioned even from its cowardly Balkan neighbors by command of the Exceptionalists. It will probably be cut off from Russia by both land and air by the now all NATO countries surrounding it. Just wait, before long Washington will be demanding Ukraine to stop all transit of Russian gas into Europe. It’s all in the name of freedom and democracy, mind you. Joe Biden is nothing like the thug Dick Cheney who preceded him in the office. Old Joe could trade popsicles to the Inuit in return for their oil drilling rights in the Arctic and never lose that shit-eating grin he always wears.
Saker,
An article worth reading from our friend Orlov.
‘ “Russia is ready to respond to any provocation, but the last thing the Russians want is another war. And that, if you like good news, is the best news you are going to hear.”
A whiff of World War III hangs in the air. In the US, Cold War 2.0 is on, and the anti-Russian rhetoric emanating from the Clinton campaign, echoed by the mass media, hearkens back to McCarthyism and the red scare. In response, many people are starting to think that Armageddon might be nigh—an all-out nuclear exchange, followed by nuclear winter and human extinction. It seems that many people in the US like to think that way. Goodness gracious!
But, you know, this is hardly unreasonable of them. The US is spiraling down into financial, economic and political collapse, losing its standing in the world and turning into a continent-sized ghetto full of drug abuse, violence and decaying infrastructure, its population vice-ridden, poisoned with genetically modified food, morbidly obese, exploited by predatory police departments and city halls, plus a wide assortment of rackets, from medicine to education to real estate… That we know.
……. ‘

You left off mention that Biden was greeted with a big rally for Donald Trump when he was there. It was led by Vojislav Seselj.
I really think it was Serbs way of protesting Biden and trying to annoying. The do think Trump is a much better alternative to another Clinton though.
And there is no mention on Montenegro and Russia’s loss of it – how it joined in with the sanctions and now criticizes Russia in lockstep with its western masters.
Russia was investing in little Montenegro more than in Serbia and it did this despite Montenegro’s mafia government and after it turned against Serbia. Russia in fact seemed a bit pleased of Montenegro’s “independence”.
Fact is Russia did nothing to support Serbia against the attacks and sanctions of the west and went along with the sanctions against the Bosnian Serbs and the remnants of Yugoslavia when it still existed.
When Serbian athletes were barred from the Olympics, Russia did not seem to care at all.
Russia even threatened to turn off gas to Serbia over Serbia’s debt around the time Milosevic was being most pressured by the western-backed opposition forces. It almost seemed as if Russia wanted Serbia to go over the edge and the Milosevic government to fall.
And once the western-puppet government gets in, the elections will be rigged to keep it or replace it with another puppet government.
Russia forgives huge amounts of debt for countries like Afghanistan, but never helped Serbia at all, despite its standing up to NATO bombings for 78 days and nights (and with weapons and coordination that was ostensibly created to go against the Soviet Union).
So Serbia had to suffer from the tool that was meant for the Soviet Union and Russia would not help Serbia rebuilt from all that devastation at all.
And Serbia’s putting up with NATO’s savagery actually gave Russia license to bomb harder in Chechnya in late 1999 and into early 2000.
The mainstream media, western officials and “human rightists” could not criticize Russia at that time without bringing back so many instances where NATO bombed civilians “collateral damage” and wrecked the infrastructure.
Russia wasn’t held back by the propaganda and condemnation, as it usually was/is, due to what Serbs had suffered and how long they endured.
Biden was a member of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – Death, Famine, War & Conquest, during the breakup of Yugoslavia. They should have washed the streets after Biden left the bastard. Dole, (he lost his mind long time ago) Lugar, and Lieberman. Add to this the AH McCain (will never forgive the North Vietnamese farmer for saving this ah) and of course lets not forget Clinton and the whore Madeline Albright who was hugging the Kosovo drug lord and while slave trader Thaci
At this stage I don’t think there is much point in speculating about Serbia’s destiny- those who are in a position to influence things on the ground will no doubt be doing it, for ordinary folks going about their lives in the Balkans it is a waiting and watching (and praying!) game. Yes, the situation on the surface appears depressing as the article states, Serbs look subdued and ‘pacified’ Western Wermacht style etc. etc. but somehow I am reminded of the words in the following poem
Srbija je velika tajna;
ne zna dan šta noć kuva,
niti noć šta zora rađa,
ne zna grm šta susedni grm sanja
niti ptica šta se događa
između granja.
Ne zna gušter šta puzi ispod kamenja,
niti kukuruza struk sluti
šta se u susednoj njivi sprema.
Svakog časa sve se menja,
nijednog kuta ni lista nema
da nije tajna.
Ko zna šta krije u sebi
i ta nevina rosa sjajna;
ti seljački poslovni krici
što se s brda na brdo čuju
zaveru možda kuju.
Ko će u toj zemlji kada
znati šta i devojka mlada
u nedrima netaknutim nosi;
kakvu tešku tajnu
u rukama svojim drži dete;
i starica pogrbljena svaka
do kakve se uputila mete.
U toj zemlji i vetri,
i mirisi, potoci i reke,
i crkvena zvona
potajne prenose vesti,
na prvom zavijutku
gde šuma počinje ona
ko zna šta možeš sresti.
U toj zemlji ni zečijoj stopi
neprijatelj verovati ne sme,
ni tragu volovskih kopita.
Dogovori su možda tajni
i žetelačke pesme
i udari šumskih sekira
i uspavanka uz kolevku svita.
I could not find an adequate translation to English so I will try a few key lines. Apologies in advance for my amateur attempt- the main point should come accross:
Serbia is a big secret
A day does not know what the night brings
Nor a day what a dawn will birth
…
Who know what the innocent morning dew
In its midst hides
Or the peasants’ shrieks
Echo from hill to hill
A plot they may be minting
…
In this land, rabbit’s steps
Enemy should not trust
Nor the trace of oxen hoofs.
Agreements may be secret
As the harvest songs
And the forest axe
…
Who wrote the poem? Very significant, the secret of the harvest songs. What the mother sings to the child can outlast empires. No coincidence, that Serbia produced the most beautiful voice in the world for performing an ancient tradition of religious song, Divna Ljubojevic, nor that her performances were both serious and popular.
Desanka Maksimovic
When speaking about Serbia being at the geopolitical crossroad one should keep in mind that during Communist times former USSR was extremely anti-Serbian. The ideology of Russian Communist leadership before WW2 saw Serbs as „hegemonists“ and supported all other nations and minorities against Serbs. The name of the state was USSR but we all know that it was in fact Russia’s policy and ideology. The fact that Communists did the same thing to Russians does not help much. Why Russians, as the greatest nation in the USSR, allowed that, is another question.
Russia was not more helpful in the Milosevic’s times. Russian leadership voted for the economic sanctions against Serbia in the UN SC. That was not situation that required any Russian soldier to die to protect Serbs, just a vote in SC. But Russia failed to support Serbia. We must understand that Milosevic needed both 100% support in his own country and outside support from a powerful ally to achieve the goal of protecting Serbian national interests and survival. He did not have inside support because Anglo-Zionists payed numerous NGOs to undermine Serbian interests inside and he did not have outside support of Russia. It was impossible to be a successful leader if pressed hard from both inside and outside. (Not even Putin, with his great support of Russian people and powerful nuclear weapons at hand, is ready for open confrontation with the West.)
Serbian people is intelligent enough to see that fighting alone against Western propaganda and NATO’s arms is dangerous delusion in a world that is so indifferent. The fact is that although there is many Serbs that like Russians and Russia, majority are no longer ready to openly support anti-Western attitude. Elections show that clearly. Anti-Western political options will not get majority support for a long time to come. After so many mistakes made for the last hundred years Russia must accept the fact that there will be some consequences to pay for it’s illusions. One of them is that for many decades ahead Serbia is lost for Russia.
And, no, I am not voter of either Milosevic or his Socialist party. And, no, I am not anti-Russian. In fact I am strong supporter of both Russia and Russians, but the realistic one.
Yes, Russia has never apologized for voting in the sanctions and allowing or voting in the airstrikes on Bosnian Serbs and the ICTY.
And the famous British writer, Rebecca West, wrote in her book “Black Lamb and Gray Falcon” that Russia heavily financed the “Bulgarization of Macedonian Serbs” for “generation after generation”.
This would have been before WWI, when Bulgaria turned upon its biggest benefactor, and jumped to Germany’s side.
Serbia: iretrievably spoiled brat, used to bully everybody in the neighbourhood, old and young, lulled in its conviction of being indispensable, chosen, heavenly, divine…..predestined by the collective will of the Serbs to rule (at least) all of the Balkans. Very similar to a certain Middle Eastern „democracy“
Russia: slowly, but steadily loosing the hope that the spoiled cousin can ever grow up to be a responsible and trustworthy member of the family; less and less inclined to put up any longer with such lying, cheating and backstabbing air-monster who, if allowed, wouldn’t hesitate a second to start a wholesale planetary slaughter if it will soothe his passions and ego
Spoiled brat: The syndrome is characterized by “excessive, self-centered, and immature behavior”. It includes lack of consideration for other people, recurrent temper tantrums, an inability to handle the delay of gratification, demands for having one’s own way, obstructiveness, and manipulation to get their way
Why, hello there neighbor :)
How many “brats” would you like to kill in the next iteration?
What a malicious comment! And so wrong. First, such a generalization applied to entire population makes no sense. Any decent philosophy or sociology textbook makes it absolutely clear.
Second, as long as this generalization applies only to political leaders and their decisions, you will have to go back and review few reliable history books.
Finally, I am not a Serb but grew up and was educated there. My family witnessed Serbian genocide, fought in WWII, worked on rebuilding devastated state after WWII until Yugoslavia became one of the most respected country in the world. Now, after 1999 and Nato destruction, it is occupied and exploited again, 3rd time in 20th century.
What spoiling brat syndrome are we talking about? Look for spoilage elsewhere.
Regards, Spiral
So, you reckon you know Serbs that well. Projecting much these days my dear trusty neighbor. Would you be able to define your national essence that well? If your feelings for serbs somehow define who you are, then you certainly qualify for the the serbian citizenship, no? I can sense you would fit just fine living with those terrible serbian bunch. You might even be eligible for an Israeli passport and the perks comming with it. Who knows.
Who exactly did Serbia bully?
Oh great, an anonymous, bitter loser who can’t spell correctly.. As the French would say:
“Il faut laisser pisser les moutons”.
Thank you for the french saying … I enjoyed it very much. Here is a link that gives the history of the expression.. http://www.expressio.fr/expressions/laisser-pisser-le-merinos.php
Again it made me smile.
mod-hs
My pleasure HS! Cyberkisses xoxo
I beg your pardon, madamme, I am just a common Albanian. Please excuse my spelling. I do not know French. Men, hvis det passer deg, kanskje vi kan konversere bedre i skandinaviske spraakene?
It’s not your spelling, but the content of your post at 10:21 a.m. that is offensive.
A sincere apology would have been much better than your faux-gallantry and your sleazy pick-up line…
” …bitter loser who can’t spell correctly” – and then out of the blue – “It’s not your spelling, but the content of your post”….
See what I am talking about? They just can’t make up their mind…
But, my dear, you must agree that it is not an optimum solution to always apologise to the spoiled brats – they understand it as a confirmation of the validity of their convictions. That would be counter-productive and mutually harming. And this is not a “faux-gallantry”, much less a “sleazy pick-up line” (you give yourself too much of a credit) – this is just the truth expressed in a dispassionate manner.
@jj
We are, along with Bosnians, Croats, Montenegrins, Macedonians….the product of ex-Yugoslavia ruled by the Serbs. You had it in your hands – and you blew it totaly, all right. You destroyed Yugoslavia and sooner or later it will dawn to you. The Russians (or, at least, those of them who are not impressed by the West) already understand who is responsible for the entrance of Bulgaria and Romania into NATO and EU. You always scream against the West – and somehow the West always capitalises from your actions. Strange, isn’t it? In fact, without you, I guarantee that very few of the above mentioned nations would think about flirting with the West the way they do now. They’d flirt with Russia, too – why not? But, to be fair, you had a lot of help – the zeal of Mr. Vitaly Churkin (starting in 1991) in assuring that you do a thorough job is remembered. And look where you are now.
Wrong. The ex-Yugoslavia was NOT ruled by Serbs. Tito was a CROAT-SLOVENE who was installed by the Brits and Americans. They heavily supplied him and acted as his air force in WWII. They helped him assault and take over Serbia.
The next most powerful after Tito were SLOVENES – Dolanc and Kardelj.
They had a policy of “Weak Serbia, Strong Yugoslavia”.
They allowed immigration of Albanians into Kosmet and Yugoslavia while they prevented Kosovo Serbs who had been cleansed by Albanians and Nazis from returning.
In fact, they stated to Stalin that they intended to eventually give Kosovo to Albania.
They were ANTI-SERB.
Serbs who didn’t vote for the communists were killed and jailed and Serbian soldiers POWs had to immigrate to other countries rather than back to Serbia or be killed.
On the eve of Yugoslavia’s dismemberment it was mostly non-Serbs who held the reigns of the power.
Also many mosques were being built in Bosnia and Kosovo during the Communist rule while the Serbian Orthodox Church was repressed.
They prevented the building/finishing of the Temple of St. Sava.
Also Serbs had a special workers’ tax placed on them and this money was going to the Kosovo Albanians.
In the early 1980’s, before the anti-Serb policies and active dismemberment of Yugoslavia got started by the U.S., the U.S. newspapers were full of Albanians chasing Serbs out of Kosovo, terrorizing and using funds sent to Kosovo to buy up Serbs’ property.
This is a pro-Russian, pro-Orthodox Christian and anti-NWO site by Saker and the Albanians are pretty much the opposite of that.
Albanians have been tools by outside countries against Serbia.
The country of Albania was actually created by Austria to block Serbia from the sea.
Albanians were involved in killing and ethnically cleansing Serbs in Croatia and Bosnia-Hercegovina. You can’t pass up an opportunity to kill Serbs.
You were with the Nazis in WWII and with the Axis powers in WWI.
You have destroyed and damaged so many beautiful Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries in Kosovo and were used by tools to displace them.
Now Albanians are in Syria, having joined the terrorists groups such as al-Nusra and ISIS. They even have posted their videos on youtube, included the Albanian who decapitated a Syrian soldiers and downloaded that. The same Albanian also tied a man to a pole and killed him with a anti-tank grenade.
Albanian smugglers are the main ones at Calais, France now, illegally smuggling all the migrants into Britain (for a big fee) including themselves.
The British news has been full lately of Albanian “double murderers” who’ve been living off of benefits in Britain for years. Seems all these Albanians have at least killed 2 people apiece.
Anonymous,
Serbs don’t have any better opinion about you either.
Speaking about spoiled brats, I think that Kosovo Albanians were the real spoiled brats. For decades Serbian authorities allowed Kosovo Albanians not to pay for the electricity provided by the state company. Now that the electricity company is in the hands of, if I am correct, Turkish company, Albanians must pay for the electricity. They are very unhappy about that. If some Albanian does not pay, he is immediately disconnected. And if he tries to prevent company’s worker to disconnect him (which was tolerated by the Serbian authorities), police immediately reacts. Electricity is not free anymore. “Independence” granted by the USAians and NATO has price. In money.
Now the readers of this blog know how “cruel” Serbian authorities were. They allowed Albanians not to pay for the electricity. How many Western democratic governments provide free electricity to national minorities on a large scale?
