There has already been three months (!!!) since the Russian air intervention started. Watching the tiny red-coloured area under control of the Syrian government forces, it seems that that area has been practically frozen, unchanged. So, one is naturally wondering: at that rate, will the Syrian government ever take possession of the whole country? The Russian air force has probably stopped the total loss of even that tiny territory, but is that all that it will ever achieve?
It would be interesting to know what the Russian own projection is: what they really expect they can accomplish – and when. All we have been hearing from them so far has been “this target was bombed”, “that village was liberated by SA”, “that type of aircraft was used”, “this type of rocket was fired”, and so on and on, ad nauseam.
Any actual projections from the Russian general staff or/and Russian government?
Some of the areas retaken are of military importance, and progress isn’t just a matter of amount of area, or even just military actions since the politics and intelligence play a big part. A key question is how effective Assad, Russia and allies will be in stopping the US and it’s accomplices from supplying and supporting the terrorists, and funding it through illegal trade. There is also the issue of strengthening and arming the SSA, making the alliance more effective, and improving the situation in Iraq. There are many things going on with the wider war.
Here is an example of progress made that is not in terms of area. Eliminating ‘minor demons’ is an ongoing campaign which is showing success since replacing them will take time and resources and may not be successful.
Christof Lehmann (nsnbc) : Zahran Alloush, the commander of the Jaysh al-Islam alliance was killed in a Damascus suburb. August 21, 2013 the Saudi intelligence asset Alloush was commanding Liwa-al-Islam when he gave the order to launch the chemical weapons attack against the East Ghouta suburb of Damascus. Zahran Alloush has been on the payroll of Saudi intelligence since the 1980s.

An in-depth investigation by nsnbc international, in 2013, concluded that Zahran Alloush was the commander who gave the direct order to launch the chemical weapons attack in East Ghouta on August 21, 2013.
ObamaDempseyBandarThe investigation also concluded that command responsibility for Alloush’s decision led directly to the U.S.’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the White House, and to the Saudi government.
Alloush would also be in control over choosing the “security guards” UN inspectors had to submit to while gathering evidence after the chemical weapons attack in East Ghouta. (see details and names in the report).

You could take the reports from the LAPD or Chicago PD on clearing out crime ridden areas of gangs and drug dealers and change the names and places.. You can kick them out of the main areas but not the outlying sparsely populated areas and deserts.. The aim is always to provide security to the mass of people paying taxes and the bureaucracy that is a society..
Perhaps you shouldn’t be so critical and unrealistic – Anonymous – what’s your name? – considering the fact that the USG/NATO is involved AGAINST Russia & Assad, what did you expect? Without them (including Turkey) it would have been so much better.
Ald_Aba has a whole bunch of pictures showing the defensive lines of the SAA..
Basically they are earth berms with tanks and artillery in them to protect villages in out lying areas.. Every single area need soldiers to man and protect the places or gangs would take over. It is not like if someone commits a crime the cops will come and take you to jail, these guys kill the cops and terrorize the population. So any place close to major roads and infrastructure needs these kinds of fortifications.. Like a thousand years ago.. Which is also why if they gather in strength they can over run an area easily.. A dozen soldiers each in the 10,000 villages.. With cities protected by barricades and check points every few blocks.. Just hops we don’t ever have to live in a place such as these.. Never knowing when they will come for us. Where nothing is safe.. US democracy brought you this.. Coming soon to your neighborhood.. Syria like Libya was some of the safest countries before this export showed up on every store shelf..
If you believe this I got a bridge and some swamp land to sell for real cheap… Next we will be seeing Obama crying on TV about the poor Syrian children bombed by Russia..
Yes,when I saw the report on that ,it had the strong “smell” of fake all over it. The picture of Erdogan’s face sitting in the limousine with the “jumper” standing outside it with a smile on his face said it all. Hopefully people in Turkey are smart enough to not believe that BS. But they did vote for him, so maybe not.
I simply love this! All you folks, ask yourselves the question: How could a man capable of saving a man from jumping – while not even getting out of his car or even disrupting his cell-phone shady family business conversation – shoot down a Russian plane? Just tell me…
I think the point we were making is that he “didn’t” save anyone from suicide. As for the shoot down, he didn’t “personally” shoot it down. When you are a President you give orders is all. I’d figure ,everyone knew that without it having to be “spelled out” for them.

Thank God for soldiers, who give up Christmas and have these kind of days, every day.
What a hard life.

Interesting, never heard this one before. “Ralph” … wouldn’t that be a pseudonym … perhaps …?
And, oh, I almost forgot. If any, what was your point about the actual topic?
Thank you.
Ralph is my real name…as The Saker can confirm.
I’m sorry, I can’t help you if you can’t grasp simple logic to discern what my point is.
