Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu says his country is set to introduce fresh security measures following a recent blast that claimed the lives of 28 people in Ankara.
After a meeting with security chiefs in the capital Ankara on Saturday, Davutoglu said that a new anti-terrorism “action plan” is currently being prepared.
I wonder how the Turkish population feels about Kurds….if I was in the Turkish army, I wouldn’t want to be going into Syria to attack Kurds who are fighting extremists.
If Turkey cannot resolve its Kurdish issue and continue to breed ethnic polarization, a new Gaza might be created right at its borders, this week’s guest for Monday Talk has said.
“I suggest that Turkey stop dealing with foreign matters for a while and look inside to resolve its own difficulties and reestablish the peace process in order to solve the Kurdish issue and then, with stability and security inside, use its potential to become a source of inspiration for other countries in the region. Then, it can be more confident in contributing to the resolution of regional problems,” said Ünal Çeviköz, a veteran ambassador who serves on the board of trustees of İstanbul Kadir Has University and writes for web-based news portal Radikal.
Çeviköz also said Turkey’s problems with Syrian Kurds are very much linked to its domestic Kurdish problem.
Hezbollah Official: Halt of Military Aid Sign of Saudis’ Failure to Win Lebanon’s Support
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior official at the Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement denounced the Saudi regime’s decision to stop military aid to Lebanon as a sign of Riyadh’s failure to attract the Arab country’s political support on regional issues.
Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency on Sunday, Nazih Mansour, a former parliamentarian, pointed to a recent decision by Saudi Arabia to halt a multi-billion dollar package of financial aid for the Lebanese Army and security services, saying that it is a sign of the regime’s failure to win the support of the Lebanese nation and government.
It shows that Lebanon’s nation has backed the anti-Israeli Axis of Resistance, to which Riyadh is opposed, he added.
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Britain and Saudi Arabia have been accused of waging a behind-the-scenes PR offensive aimed at neutering United Nations criticism of Bahrain for its human rights record, including use of torture by its security forces.
Documents shared with the Observer on Sunday reveal that the UN’s criticism of the Persian Gulf state was substantially watered down after lobbying by Britain and Saudi Arabia, a major purchaser of British-made weapons and military hardware.
