Anyone note that this exact area of northern Syria could be where the Ottoman empire goes to die a second time in almost exactly 100 years, with 2 names especially prominent then & here now?
The Free Syrian Army-affiliated Sultan Murad Division, a Turkish-backed rebel group, issued a warning for civilians to leave the ISIS-held villages between northern Aleppo’s Aazaz and Jarabulus, and labelled them military zones. Hours later, Turkey deployed a mine sweeper to remove the landmines planted by ISIS along the Syrian-Turkish border near Jarabulus. The Turkish-backed group began its offensive against ISIS with the support of heavy artillery fire from Turkey, which led to the capture of three villages near Jarabulus.
I feel good about your reports but I’d feel a whole lot better if I didn’t think Russia was being defeated in the financial war.
If Russia can’t even see that investment for interest is a malignant social cancer and that complicity with the Empire’s portfolio is a plague on humanity, how can she escape the consequences?
If the table which Russia seems so desirous of sitting at collapses, maybe Russia will achieve sovereignty against her will when she is forced to rely on her own resources.
Luckily the North has her back but it’s that soft-headed middle that will send her South unless she stops prostituting herself for nothing.
I don’t take interest on my money as little as it is. I feel better when the law of love is on my side. I just wish Russia was along for the ride.
After seeing the most fortified rebel city get obliterated, now the trend is when the SAA approach’s the civilians make the rebels and terrorists leave and hand the city over to government control.. 3 cities in the last 3 days. But this will only work were the civilians have some say with the rebels and they are not under control of foreigners. Its better than the entire place being razed to the ground and any opposition being killed now that the Syrians have accurate artillery. If Ratyan can be defeated so easily with their elite terrorist forces and foreign weapons, the rest should be scared.. very very scared.. The defenders were wiped out pretty much. Reinforcements never even got to the front lines before being wiped out.

Iran is sending more Special Forces of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to Syria. Military planes are landing in Damascus and Aleppo airports respectively carrying 6000 officers and soldiers of the “Sabereen Unit” to support the on-going ground offensive in reef of Syria. The Lebanese Hezbollah is also injecting fresh forces to the same area where also the Syrian Kurds are advancing against Salafist Jihadist led by al-Qaeda in Syria, also known as Jabhat al-Nusra, and their allies. Russia, the leading force dominating the Syrian sky, wants to guarantee a seat to the Kurds where Turkey and Saudi Arabia rejected their presence around the negotiation table of Geneva peace talk, expected to regain meeting by the end of this month of February. Iran and Russia are determined to change the map of Syria to the advantage of Damascus before the end of this coming summer. Cities are surrendering without fight like Dayr Jamal, and others, like Tal-Refaat, are negotiating an exit to rebels to avoid the destruction of their city.
A high-ranking military officer operating in Syria said, “the IRGC Sabereen unit operating in large Aleppo outskirts (North, South, West and East reef) was established more than ten years ago in Iran and were selected as a Special Elite Forces. These are trained to participate to warfare combat, to penetrate deep into and behind enemy lines and above all to fight Jihadists. These are the spearhead against al-Qaeda in Northern and western reef Aleppo and Eastern reef against the so-called “Islamic State” (ISIS) group. Over 47 officers and soldiers are reported killed in the last Aleppo offensive. ”
“Iran misinformation campaign in the last few month deceived the main stream media who believed its forces are withdrawing from Syria, when the military transport aircraft were conveying fresh troops to Aleppo to plan the breakage of the blockade around Nubbl and Zahra, the two northern Shia cities besieged for over three years by al-Qaeda and its allies. Following the downing of the Russian Jet, the Su-24 over the Turkish-Syrian borders by Turkey last year, Russia reshuffled its military plans to get much deeper involved in Syria and aim to cut all supply lines and link between the Jihadist and their safe heaven in Turley. Therefore, plans were drawn to control the borders starting from reef Latakia, where the military offensive is advancing rapidly and from the north of Aleppo. An operational room was established in Aleppo to direct the northern and the southern fronts where al-Sabereen unit is mainly engaged”.
According to the source, “when Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates expressed their will to send a military force to Syria, as agreed with the United States of America, the answer came from the commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Mohammad Ali Ja’fari. His forces are directly involved on the ground in the North against al-Qaeda (Nusra) and the North East against ISIS. This means the IRGC and Hezbollah will be face to face with any troops landing in their operational area without any coordination with Damascus. The Iranian military operational room is in charge of recovering the bordering area between Turkey and Syria and to fight against any enemy force at the exception of the Kurds and their allies, considered non-enemy forces”.
“The battle of Ratyan was a real turn in the northern campaign. It was the most defended city and the heart of al-Qaeda and its allies, fortified since years above and under the ground. It was also the operational centre leading the siege around Nubbl and Zahraa and the northern front. The Russian Air Force destroyed these fortifications and killed hundreds of Jihadists, according to their own count. The fall of Ratyan set an example to other northern cities that are negotiating a surrender term without fighting. This is what happened in Deyr Jamal, Alqamiyah and Kfarnaya, at the outskirt of Tal-refaat, the last city before Azaz and through it to the Turkish borders. Tal Refaat is also negotiating surrender with the advancing forces. Forces are finding cities already abandoned but well fortified with several long tunnels and weapons left behind. With the breakage of the siege, thousands of fighters protecting the two cities were divided to the Northern and to the southern fronts. It helped increasing the strength of the spear-head units and giving a unique opportunity to the advancing forces against al-Qaeda and its allies”.
“Russia, Iran and Hezbollah aim to change the military geographic map of Syria to their advantage before the end of this coming summer. The one billion dollars invested by Saudi Arabia to offer 13000 TOW anti-Tank guided missiles helped only to increase the destruction of the Syrian cities. Instead of pushing ground-armoured troops, Russia is using its Air Force to destroy any resistance and Iran is sending more infantry, relying less on tanks. Hence the need to inject more specialised troops to fulfil important military objectives, planned in the next six months. These forces, from Iran and Hezbollah, are still coming in large numbers to respond to future military plans”.
“Russia is also aiming to impose an ipso-facto on Geneva peace talk by supporting the advance of the Kurdish forces in the northern front to the Turkish borders. Turkey and Saudi Arabia can no longer ignore the Kurds, mainly following their control in reef Aleppo of Kiffin, Dayr Jamal and other cities, joining already controlled area. Rejecting their participation is against any logic. As the Kurds control now a large front – and are expected to control more land – the international community can no longer accept the Turkish-Saudi blackmail. The Kurds will be part of a comprehensive solution to the Syrian war”, the source concluded.
” Head of Chechnya: We have infiltrated ISIS in Syria”
It’s worth quoting a few sentences from this article:
” An extensive spy network has been set up inside Islamic State,” Kadyrov’s office quoted him on Monday as telling Russia’s state-controlled Russia 1 channel.
He said Chechnya’s “best fighters” had been sent to Syria to gather information about militants’ structure and numbers.
“Thanks to their work as agents the Russian air force is successfully destroying terrorist bases in Syria.”
Very interesting offensive by YPG.. While SAA moves in from the north and keeps al queda busy, YPG is trying to sneak behind the lines to join up with their Aleppo cousins.. This might be a way to trap IS and Al queda into smaller pockets rather than a larger offensives to take densely populated areas and create 3 smaller cauldrons between the YPG and SAA. Enter your own land military forces, Washington does not intend to, civil society does not approve. And make war by proxy – a common tactic of the United States. As after a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry said the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Adel al-Dzhubeyr America endorses the intention of the Kingdom to send troops to Syria.
Syria has not requested assistance, so the appearance of foreign forces, which in opposition to Assad and the opposition supported the legitimate president of enemies, could trigger another round of escalation in the civil war.
The United States in the person of the US Department John Kirby, in turn, confirmed that Saudi Arabia supports the plan to send special forces into Syria.
Al Dzhubeyr stressed that initiated the beginning of the military operation in Syria is Washington. In this regard, the participants of the international antiterrorist coalition led by the United States hopes that a new operation in Syria, headed by America.
CNN reports that the current operation to the new upcoming Islamic countries to mobilize 150 thousand soldiers. By the special forces of Saudi Arabia to join the fighters from Morocco, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE and Qatar, and probably the military of Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.
You know it is things are in dire straights when our favorite disinformation outlet starts calling on yehawa to bring on the second coming. Didn’t hitler also wait for jesus to show up?
The five-year Syrian civil war, faces its most critical moment. Saturday, Feb. 6, a combined force of Syrian army and Hizballah troops and an Iraqi Shiite militia under Iranian officers, were led by Russian air and Spetsnaz (special forces) officers into pressing forward to encircle 35,000 rebels trapped in Aleppo, the country’s largest city.
As they tightened the siege, 400,000 Syrian civilians were also trapped and forced to bear heavy Russian air bombardment and savage artillery fire from the ground forces closing in on the city.
Rebel supply routes were cut off Thursday and Friday when Syrian and Hizballah forces captured the Azaz Corridor connecting Aleppo and all of the northern province of Idlib to the Turkish border.
Tens of thousands of refugees fleeing from the beleaguered town are massing at Bab al-Salama, the last Turkish border crossing to be closed against them. This is the largest Syrian refugee exodus since the start of the civil war.
The rebels under siege are painfully short of weaponry for fighting off the massive, combined offensive, debkafile’s military sources report. Their only remaining recourse is to surrender or be ground into submission as the conquering force knocks over their positions and takes over street after street.
Once the combined forces fighting with Bashar Assad’s army take Aleppo and northern Syria, the opposition will have suffered its heaviest defeat since the war began. The rebels groups’ capacity to continue fighting the regime will be gravely diminished.
Their desperate plight – and the fresh surge of Syrian refugees in unmanageable numbers – cut short the conference in Geneva for a settlement of the Syrian conflict, before it got underway – and prompted reactions from sponsors of rebel groups.
In Riyadh, Brig, Gen. Ahmed Asiri, adviser to Saudi Defense Minister Muhammed Bin Salman, announced Friday that Saudi Arabia is ready “to participate in any ground operations that the international coalition launches against ISIS.” This offer was taken as a veiled response to the SOS from the rebel stronghold in Aleppo.
In Washington, State Department circles, in a briefing to US media, said the time had come to establish a no-fly security zone in northern Syria. They said: “Once a zone were established we do not believe Russia would challenge the stronger US and NATO forces, particularly if they were operating mainly from Turkey.”
The next day, Friday, Moscow came back with a sharp response: Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said: “Russian air defense systems enable early detection of threats to Russian aircraft flying combat missions over Syria and provide adequate measures to ensure flight safety.”
This was a reminder of the sophisticated air defense S-400 and S-300 missile systems Russia installed at its Syrian air base after the Turkish air force downed a Russian warplane in November.
Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem put it more crudely: “Any foreign troops entering Syria would return home in wooden coffins.”
He advised armed opposition groups fighting the government offensive in the area to lay down their weapons because, he said, “government advances signal that the five-year-old Syria war is nearing its end.”
Saturday, US Secretary of State John Kerry urged Russia to implement a ceasefire in Syria, saying its bombing campaign was killing women and children in large numbers and “has to stop.”
He told reporters on his return from a trip to Europe: “Russia has indicated to me very directly they are prepared to do a ceasefire,” adding “The Iranians confirmed in London just a day and a half ago they will support a ceasefire now.”
debkafile’s military sources have seen no sign of any ceasefire or even a slowdown in the Russian-led Syrian-Iranian Aleppo offensive.
“Parties to the Syrian conflict, including anti-government armed groups, as well as Al-Nusra Front and Islamic State, have committed “serious violations” of the rights of detainees, including torture and killing, United Nations investigators say in a new report.
The 25-page report, “Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Deaths in Detention,” goes back to the beginning of the conflict in March 2011 until last November. It is based on a total of 621 interviews, including with over 200 former detainees who witnessed one or more deaths in custody. ” https://www.rt.com/news/331832-un-report-syria-torture/

Any confrontation will take place in Syria
Vladimir Avatkov, director of the Moscow-based Center of Oriental Studies, assesses the situation as extremely difficult. In his opinion, the likelihood of an armed conflict between Russia and Turkey is very high.
“Turkey had serious plans for Syria,” he said. “Russian military action has become an obstacle for them. Ankara now has several options for how to act. Firstly, it may send troops to Syria as part of a coalition. Secondly, it may start to provide more assistance to the Syrian radical opposition. Of course, it may take a wait-and-see attitude and do nothing, but this is unlikely. I think Ankara will actively seek ways to implement the first two scenarios.”
Nevertheless, experts interviewed by RBTH agree on one thing: If there is a military conflict between Russia and Turkey, it can take place only on Syrian territory.
Retired Major General Alexander Kostyukhin, who previously worked in Turkey for a number of years and is well acquainted with the military realities of the country, believes that even in the case of provocations from the Turkish side, Russia will not attack Turkish territory, but limit itself to Syria.
“If Turkey hits Russian forces in Syria, Russia can strike back only in Syria, but not in Turkey,” he said.
“However, the Syrian government army, in responding to the actions of Turkey, may enter Turkish territory. That’s a possibility. Further development is difficult to predict, because it depends on the degree of involvement of other parties. In particular, on the extent of NATO’s support for its member state,” he said.
Well I must say, the military campaign does seem to be going rather well lately, what? I even saw a mainstream media article conceding that the Syrian military was making significant gains. The desperate attempt at spin was basically reduced to
(1) Gosh, the Russians are bombing really hard and that’s destructive, isn’t it awful? (Clearly the US and its allies would never do such a thing)
(2) If the terrorists are in full retreat and might lose the war completely, what’s going to happen to the peace talks?! No, really, I kid you not, the article was basically complaining that if the legitimate government wins and establishes peace, the peace talks will be torpedoed. Won’t somebody please think of the poor peace talks?

It should be noted, all of these states for the most part Muslim, while Syria has always been a secular state.”

Russian hands-off warning to US, Saudis, Turks amid crucial Aleppo battle
