Addendum: check out this funny article too: https://southfront.org/southfront-is-run-by-the-russian-military/
Note by the Saker: as a longtime wannabe “Putin agent” I am jealous of SouthFront! Considering the superb performance of the Russian military everywhere in the recent years, I think that being accused of being “run by the Russian military” is the highest possible compliment. I hope that I will deserve such a compliment one day too :-)
The Saker
Well, I am telling all my friends not to use Paypal after what they did by seizing funds intended for South Front. Not doing business with someone is one thing–stealing from them is another.
OK. Gen. Votel—a lean and hungry look there is about that man and for a quick clip, you got it. There is no coincidence that Isis /Al Nusra/ got meaner with the bombing of civilian areas in Syria and the illegal push of the US military into N. Syria supposedly “against” Isis. So when the US military with the help of the Kurds takes Raqqa are they going to surrender it to civil authority i.e. the central government in Damascus? Don’t bet your bottom dollar on it.
One can hope that the Russians are telling the US special forces to keep hands off the SAA in the area. Now what happens if the Kurds start fighting with the SAA which has happened and the SAA calls for Russian air support and the Kurds call for US air support? Oh what a tangled web.
“So when the US military with the help of the Kurds takes Raqqa are they going to surrender it to civil authority i.e. the central government in Damascus? Don’t bet your bottom dollar on it.”
You hit on the “main” problem with that. Of course they won’t hand it over. They will use it in their “Assad must go” plans. Its a terrible mistake for Syria and Russia (as well as Iran) to let that operation take place.
Yes
Agreed. Somehow, Putin seems to be doing everything half-way right, from Ukraine to Syria. Perhaps he is severely limited in his actions by low funds, the yet insufficient strength of the Russian military currently in development, the unknown to us internal political problems. Still, it leaves too many question marks. Frankly, I am presently not even certain of clarity of his objectives; and in any case am not holding my breath further.
Agree fully. I am still scratching my head over why Putin loves to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory twice in a row, from ukraine and syria respectively
You are not the only one. I can’t decide if the reason is Russian inferiority complex toward West or the fifth column screeching for cooperation with “our Western partners” or that I don’t have all the facts from behind the closed doors negotiation between US and Russia. Nevertheless Russia’s behavior after Minsk and after Syria’s truce doesn’t make sense to me.
The Kurds are IDF proxies. The last thing the Kurds will do is surrender any territory to the legitimate Syrian or illegitimate Iragi governments. They are annexing territory with the goal of creating the nation of Kurdistan, Israel 2.0.
I completely agree with you on your point that it will be a terrible mistake for Syria, Russia and Iran to not make an effort to impede the NATO/US/Israeli terrorists and their Kurdish allies. At the moment the Empire is doing exactly as it wishes. Be it a bombing campaign or inserting Special Ops forces. They do so regardless of the possibility of negative consequences. Because there have been none for them.
aren’t the rocks and trees supposed to be screaming about the degenerate perverts
hiding behind them…?

Hi Saker,
Seems SouthFront have sold out, they are giving credibility to Stratfor reports and relaying the MSM propaganda of conflict between Iran and Russia over Syria. Also notice that they give very little info about Ukraine which is where they started. Smacks of the Al Jazeera sell out.
