@anonymous: thank you *very* much. I am reading his book right now and I enjoy it a lot. While I find some of his points less than fully convincing (like when he says that the sack of Jerusalem by the Romans did not result into a massive exile), I do very much agree with this fundamental thesis that the so-called “Jews” today are definitely not an ethnicity but rather a social group united by a set of values. Frankly, I come to the conclusions that what we call “Jews” is a tribe which has no connection whatsoever to the Old Testament Jews.
