Former Lebanese minister Wiam Wahhab said in a recent television interview that Iranian ships are loading their cargo and heading to Lebanon, despite ongoing US efforts – according to some observers – to financially choke the small Arab country.
Wahhab, a prominent Druze ally of Hezbollah, challenged the United States to militarily target these ships if it dared. The former minister was responding to concerns raised by the television host that the US may sanction the Lebanese government for accepting this urgent relief from Iran, or even forcefully stop these ships from reaching Lebanon.
The former minister explained that the Iranian goods will indeed reach Beirut, and they will be paid for in the Lebanese pound, thereby decreasing demand for the scarcely available US dollar and easing the crisis in the country.
Since October 2019 Lebanon has been in a financial crisis that has seen businesses close and prices and unemployment soar.
The Lebanese pound, which is officially pegged at 1,500 to the dollar, has lost over 80 percent of its value since October and is now trading at nearly 9,000 to the dollar on the black market after sharp falls in recent days.

It looks like America is on the verge of disintegration.

Even allies have began to quietly move away from the US and start to contemplate life without it playing a central role.
Just listen keenly to the EU officials whenever they speak.
Four more years of Trump with his tempermental recklessness and incoherent policies will ensure that for America, there is a reckoning.

Well said, the recent defeat suffered by the US at the UNSC illuminated this isolation on the world stage. The headline by The American Conservative sum it up: “The Iran Obsession Has Isolated The U.S.” They want to eat their cake and have it but the world said know through the UNSC.

It is self evident that you cannot give what you don’t have, the AZ have successfully placed mediocrity over competence in America politics to their detriment through self damaged contradiction inherent in neo-capitalism. They are loyal only to whoever will pay their bills, so that the likes of Pompeo and a acclaimed war criminal like Bolton can hold political appointment shouldn’t be a surprise.
Hopefully, Iran is on the winning path with its policy of resistance politically and militarily. Even now it is safe to say Iran is on its way to victory economically as America keep sanctioning itself out of these markets and Iran making inroads through them with the US hapless to intervene. But am still cautious if the egotist Trump won’t make an irrational move like what happened with the murder of Qassem Soleimani if he thinks it would boost his reelection chance. A total fiasco in my opinion.
There is however a caveat to the issue of there allies in Europe, make no mistake the opposition is not against the US empire but against Trump policies which is not just weakening the US empire but the dominance of the western neoliberalism camp in general who are in favour of America interventionism to destroy any rivalry to power moving away from the Western world which has been in charge of world affairs for over five centuries. Israel Shamir aptly capture it when he wrote in Unz review: “It is better to have America and the West divided under Trump rather than united under the DNC.” This is the underlying fact of the likes German chancellor Angela Markel opposition to the US (read Trump), another four years under Trump and the empire the way we know it would be gone for good, weakened beyond rescue. Hopefully that is what will happen for the sake of world peace.
The fact that virtually all the powerful groups want Lichmaster Biden instead of Trump has me hoping for a Trump victory as well.
It would also be cool if Australians woke up to what is going on over here. I think it will take a complete crash of the housing bubble to get people to apply thinking. Right now everyone is still terrified of the rona and the crafty Chinamen!

Johnny, good point. ln 2013 lranian and Chinese warships entered the Med via Suez to warn off NATZO’s armada that was threatening Damascus with cruise weapons. Russian warships were already in the Med, in the Syrian port of Tartus, and this triple resistance force — Iran, China and Russia — caused the NATZO armada to back off. In that incident the contribution of Iran and China was more psychological than military. But over the past 7 years their power has increased, both militarily and politically.
Nevertheless, I still think this Iranian shipment is mainly psychological. The Iranianzmcould have sent food to Lebanon overland; but they want to assert the global maritime principle of Freeedom ofthe Seas. As they have already done in the Perslan Gulf and in shipping much needed aid to beleagured Venezuela.
Iran needs to help Lebanon with some bitcoin mining rigs. The middle east has the potential for a lot of cheap solar energy to power such mining. No need for US dollars and instant trustless settlement.

Quite a while, hope you’re doing great. I’ve really missed your comments on Iran and axis of resistance issues on this platform.
As I’ve come to realise America will make a superpower out of Iran with all the strategic blunders committed by its leaders. Often on this platform people comments the firepower of America as dwarfing that of Iran forgetting that if this is what would determine the outcome of any confrontation between Iran and the US, then America would have erased Iran off the map long time ago especially at its weakest stage immediately after the revolution.
But what are we witnessing today? Iran rising in all ramifications challenging a superpower head on, this is not borne out of a junky adrenaline to draw a confrontation but a long term strategic calculus that has a clear view of the real position of the hyper power. Iran has perfected the art of taking advantage of America’s self inflicted injury, this even more than anything else have the effect of dissuading the saner section of the America military decision makers from declaring any disastrous invasion of Iran.
America is an empire in its twilight and those are aware would love to prolong the earth shattering consequence.
