The news of the martyrdom of the great General Hajj Qasim Soleimani – may Allah have mercy upon him – has deeply aggrieved us.
Indeed the unparalleled role of (Soleimani) during the (several past) years of war against Daesh in Iraq cannot be forgotten.
I send my consolations over the loss of this dear martyr to your eminence, to his respected children and family, and to the honourable Iranian nation, and especially
the dear people of Kerman, and I ask Allah the Gracious to raise the (spiritual) status of (martyr Soleimani), and that He gift his family with outstanding patience and great (heavenly) rewards.

Can someone please clarify a question:
When the US invaded Iraq (second time during Gulf War 2) Grand Ayatollah Sistani apparently ordered the Iraqi people NOT to resist the Americans (and British):

Apparently this was because they were not united and they would be destroyed by the Americans. Apparently he said that the time to resist will come, but it is not now (c.2003).
Following the murder of General Soleimani, and the tremendous reunion of previously divided Iraqi groups, has Sistani now given permission for the people to resist the Americans?

Ayatollah Al-Sistani was solely talking about Daesh/ISIS. No mention of resisting US/Nato at the moment. No overt support for Moqtada al-Sadr’s call for international resistance.
IIRC before the illegal invasion of Iraq in 2003 he ‘fatwa-ed’ that Iraqis were to resist. A month after the invasion however he said they were to cease resisting. Don’t know the reason/s but it could be he was worried about destruction of Shi’a holy sites in Iraq eg in Najaf, Karbala.
He’s a bit controversial in that he’s seen as ‘moderate’ by Iraqi Shi’as and therefore liked by the Empire. Apparently suggested for the Nobel Prize by that great warrior for peace and justice Thomas Friedman.

The whole concept of suicide attacks has it’s roots in Shia radicalism. Takfiri Sunni terrorists took over that concept and brought that to a whole new level and primarily against civilians. First suicide attacks started in the 1980s after the Iranian revolution. Sunni Islam has no history of suicide attacks and no culture of self-mutilation, Shia Islam has a tradition and a culture of self-mutilation during certain religious ceremonies.
Nothing new in this, but the current round started with the Lebanese booting the US out in 1983 with a truck bomb. This was then copied by the LTTE in Sri Lanka in 1987 and then largely developed as a more individual tactic from there (including using females). Nothing to do with Shia Islam per se. The terror attack (politically motivated) on the hotel in 1946 was against the British: During the British Mandate, the southern wing of the hotel was turned into a British administrative and military headquarters.
This is in contrast to what radical Palestinian Islamists (Hamas) have been doing with ideological and financial sponsoring from Iran: suicide bombings against civilians of a certain ethnicity/religion, against ordinary people traveling in a bus.

The entire point here is that people who are willing to die for their cause, generally win. Iran has no other choice at this stage than taking the initiative of striking Israel as the first target in its retaliation campaign as soon as General Soleimani’s body is finally put into rest in his home town.
Once Israel is under siege and extremely busy battling Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad and IRGC forces deployed in Syria, the Iranian regime will have to wait for America’s military response and then, strike back with all of its arsenal.
If the Islamic Republic of Iran and its allies are capable of inflicting casualties to US forces in that region (including the IDF) surpassing the 20K+ mark in less than 2 weeks of intense and brutal combat operations and, the IRGC is able to permanently blockade the Strait of Hormuz, destroy critical energy infrastructure in the middle east (i.e. refineries, pipelines, power plants, oil installations, platforms and tankers) and furthermore, Iran is able to cope with the indescribable punishment that is going to be subject in that period (Iranian casualties above the 50K+ mark and the total destruction of its oil and nuclear facilities) do not be surprised that a cease fire will be agreed by all warring parties.
