After Hezbollah announced the death of one of its fighters in the Israeli attack on Damascus on Monday evening, Israeli media reported “fear and vigilance in Israel” over Hezbollah’s expected response at the Lebanese-Palestinian border.
On Tuesday, July 21, Hezbollah announced the martyrdom of Ali Kamel Mohsen, who found martyrdom during the Israeli assault on the outskirts of Damascus airport on Monday evening.
Israeli media reported the “fear prevailing in Israel over the expected Hezbollah response, which announced that one of its members was killed in yesterday’s attack on Syria.”
Roi Kais, commentator on Arab affairs for the Israeli channel Kan, said in a tweet that Hezbollah’s announcement of the martyrdom of one of its members “certainly changes the picture.”
Kais added: “Here we have to remind of Hassan Nasrallah’s equation: Any member of Hezbollah killed in Israeli attacks on Syria will be avenged by a retaliatory response at the Lebanese border.”
For his part, commentator and strategic issues analyst Yoni Ben-Menachem spoke on Twitter about “the vigilance in the Israeli security establishment for fear of a response from Hezbollah on the northern border.”
It should be noted that regional sources have today denied to Al-Mayadeen the information that an Iranian officer was killed as a result of the Israeli aggression in Damascus’ outskirts.
A Syrian military source stated on Monday evening that 7 soldiers were injured, reporting as well material damage as a result of the assault.
Syrian air defense systems intercepted the majority of missiles fired by Israeli planes against southern Damascus from the occupied Golan.
UPDATE: On July 23, Al-Mayadeen announced that Israeli army drills planned at the Lebanese border have been canceled, and that one Israeli soldier died and another was injured when their vehicle overturned in the occupied Shebaa farms (confirmed by Times of Israel): even before the Hezbollah missiles —which will not be long in coming—, fear is enough to avenge their martyr!

Press TV sputnik and rt are reporting that Various US fighter jets possibly F15 have conducted some aggressive and “dangerous” maneuvering close to a Beirut-bound Iranian passenger airplane inside Syrian airspace.
The IRIB News described the US-led aircraft’s maneuvering as a “provocative and dangerous” action that forced the Iranian passenger plane’s pilot to precipitously lower the altitude.
It hailed the swift precaution taken by the pilot as “courageous” but said it led to some injuries among several passengers.
The official IRNA news agency also cited the Iranian pilot as identifying the jets as US warplanes.
Several passengers said their heads hit hard against the ceiling after the plane had to swoop lower. Footage, meanwhile, showed blood running from the top of the head of one and several others, who had suffered scars, while one passenger was seen lying down apparently unconscious on the airplane’s floor.
You have to be a special kind of dirt bag to be in the US Armed Forces. Absolute scum. I’m ashamed to be a United States citizen and have been for most of my life because of crap like this. Trump is souless for having allowed this type of behaviour.
One obvious question is, why – in the entire past long six years – has not Russia downed a single attacking Zionist entity in Palestine’s plane in Syria?
(Another question, addressed to those who mechanically parrot “what do you want, a WW3?”, would be, why exactly do they think that downing that marauding scum would cause no less than “WW3”?…)
Probably for the same reason why the Izraelis or the US have never attacked directly the Russian units at Khmeimim and Tarsus.
One of the biggest mis-conceptions is that Russia is in Syria to fight Izraelis and/or US. But that was never their goal. The russians try to achieve three (rather limited) limited goals there:
* To acquire a warm port with access to the Mediterranean sea – which they already achieved in Tarsus, and are currently expanding to a full blown naval base.
* To achieve a (rather limited) presense on the ground and in the air to serve as what the NATO would call a “trip-wire” force – which they achieved in Khmeimim.
* to exterminate as many allah-ackbars of russian origin as possible, fighting for ISIS (so they won’t have to deal with them on russian soil) – as far as I could tell, this is still work in progress.
Despite being there at Assad’s government invitation, russians never claimed that their goal is to protect Syrian Arab Army, or the government itself. Quite the contrary, when the subject is brought to discussion, Vladimir Vladimirovich insist that the fate of the syrian government would be decided by the syrian people.
Indeed, the russian provide technical assistance and expertise, in exchange for basing rights. And they do provide air cover, when requested by Damasc (after all, as far as the russians are concerned, Assad’s government is the legitimate syrian government). But from russian perspective – that’s just good business.
It should be noted that during the last several months there were a lot of provocations against russian patrols , initiated by the US, but probably they’ll go down after the US elections in November pass – a short, victorious war, far away from home was, always preferred way for the american politicians to distract the populace from problems at home. But the russians, so far, seem unwilling to take the bait.
