Apparently, my post today expressing my disgust with the way outside forces were arrogantly deciding the future of 7 million citizens of the Donbass was interpreted as an admission on my part that I have given up on Putin (even though I had clearly written “Let’s even add to this, for conversation’s sake, that Putin has decided to yield to the terms of these AngloZionist and that the Kremlin has also come to terms, “). Some even interpreted it as an indirect admission on my part that the Novorussian forces are doomed. Nothing could be further from the truth.
First, how do we establish the likely course of action of a leader? Well, unless we manage to establish some kind of telepathic connection I would suggest that we should avoid any kind of guesses about intentions or motives. I would suggest that the best way to try to predict one a leader will do is to do two things: a) we can try to form an image of his personality and character and b) we can look at what he did in the past and project that as a likely thing he will do in the future. With these criteria I personally see absolutely no reason to suspect the man of being anything but a sincere patriot, a man of exceptional courage and willpower and a man who spent all this time in the Kremlin trying to free Russian from AngloZionist colonization while opposing the US hegemony elsewhere. I note that all those accusing Putin of betrayal or cowardice do not offer a single argument to make their case which is solely based on suspicions that Putin is, in fact, not what people think he is. Clearly, 80%+ of Russians disagree, and I wonder what it is they know which other’s don’t. But nevermind Putin right now, what I really want to discuss is the Novorussian resistance.
Guys, please do not let the fall of Slaviansk and the cities around it lead you to believe that this is the first in a long string of defeats which will end with a full invasion of Novorussia by the Ukies. I think that by now we know enough about exactly why Strelkov decided to withdraw. Basically, he knew that Slaviansk was untenable, he wanted to preserve his forces and equipment, and he wanted to get some order and unity of command in Donetsk and, to a lesser degree, Lugansk, where all sorts of behind the scenes negotiations involving Akhmetov were taking place. I don’t want to go in this right now, but I want to make a simply point. Taking Slaviansk is nothing compared to the complexities involved in an operation to take Donetsk or Lugansk. Please remember that the Ukies had a HUGE advantage in all of the following categories:
- Numbers
- Armor (MBT, APC, IFV)
- Artillery
- Attack aircraft
- Attack helicopters
- Supplies
- Ammunition
- Mobility
- Intelligence and Reconnaissance
All of these are negated during offensive urban combat operations. Let’s rapidly take them one by one
- Numbers – Strelkov will hire or mobilize many more soliders
- Armor (MBT, APC, IFV) – are vulnerable and of limited use in cities
- Artillery – is hard to direct and causes huge damage which looks very bad
- Attack aircraft – have a hard time finding their targets
- Attack helicopters – can be shot down from all sides
- Supplies – cities are usually well supplied with critical supplies
- Ammunition – is easier to move around due to sorter distances
- Mobility – is done mostly on foot and is restricted
- Intelligence and Reconnaissance – is very hard to do, it is easy to hide in a city
I am not saying that this is a done deal and that all well be great from now on. But I am saying that if it took the entire Ukie military, supported by death squads paid for by oligarchs so long to take Slaviansk even though they used literally every weapon in their possession (including MLRS, cluster bombs and chemical munitions!) it is most unlikely that they will succeed in taking Donetsk or Slaviansk anytime soon. Or ever.
So even if (that is a hypothetical, ok, I am not saying it will happen) Putin decides to betray Novorussia like Milosevic betrayed the Bosnian Serbs, that does not at all mean that the Ukies will be able to take control of Novorussia. And remember that time is very much on the Novorussia side now, because the economy of Banderastan is in free fall and sooner rather than later a social explosion will happen in Kiev and the rest of Banderastan. Finally, even if (that is a hypothetical, ok, I am not saying it will happen) the Ukie forces somehow manage, against all expectation, to invade all of Novorussia, what will they have gained? A large territory which will not provide them with anything of value (see here for the reason why the Donbass cut off from Russia is useless) except a large and desperate population, filled with hatred for the invader, which will maintain a constant and most painful and costly partisan war against the Nazi occupier supported by a never ending flow of Russian volunteers sneaking across the border to help the resistance.
In conclusion, and no matter how bad things look now, do not let yourself be deceived by those who believe that this war will end soon. No, unless the Ukies come to their senses and get the hell out of Novorussia (something which Uncle Sam will never permit them to do, of course), this will be a LONG war and A LOT will change before it ends. And it will end with the defeat of the Nazi regime in Kiev. I have no doubt about that at all. But yes, it will take time because, as I wrote earlier today, this Nazi regime has the full support of the US and EU who “will fight Russia to the last Ukrainian solider”.
So this is not an appeal for optimism. Just for realism.

I just saw this FP article on Geoffrey Pyatt’s twitter feed, but I don’t know either how to create a hyperlink by html, nor why your site doesn’t create them from an url. ‘Putin’s Secret Weapon’

News: Merkel donates funds to rebuild Slavyansk and Kramatorsk (UA Nazis ethnically cleanse Donbass, paid for by US Nazis, German Nazis finance reconstruction).
News: Putin makes statement in speech ‘asking the Russian people to help those in East Ukraine’ – is there a video or translation available?
News: ethnic cleansing in East Ukraine penetrates DailyKos website, comments indicate the US propaganda narrative is failing.

The army of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics has 20,000 fighters – Gubarev
Gubarev said the militia fighters would be paid from 6,000 to 9,000 hryvnias (approximately 600-900 USD), explaining that the only source of finance for the army was the people. Gubarev promised that “a full-fledged army with surveillance and counter-surveillance services, a control center and logistics support center would be created soon.”

Good Post Saker :-)
To some you may seem schizophrenic but I see you as someone who is balanced between their heart and their head, capable of empathy but fully grounded in objective facts.
The Banderstan government will fall once winter arrives and there is no gas or money for food and the Oligarchs starting killing each other over the crumbs. The USSA and EUSSA will not bail out the Ukraine, cutting their losses since the great prize of Crimea is permanently lost.
Russia cannot directly intervene since southstream is critical to Putins endgame of securing Russia’s European customers while removing Ukraine as a vulnerable transit point. US LNG is a fraud and without Crimea, other pipelines like Whitestream remain a pipe dream.
Finally, when the Banderstani’s are overthrown, there be no place on earth that they can hide from inevitable retribution. They will be paid back by their own blood.
Keep up the great work.
Milosevic did not betray Bosnian Serbs.
Thanks to him, Republika Srpska exists today!
I think the junta must understand pretty clearly that if Novorussia political structures take root and an organized and effective military force put together then their enterprise will stall rather quickly. They are already denied the IMF funds for not having settled the ‘dispute’. Then there are the right sector agitators. There is considerable time pressure on Kiev and their backers to succeed fairly quickly I would think. I view the situation as dangerous and unstable and I don’t think they will allow it to simmer along but will try by any means to bring it to an end soon. US rhetoric is very belligerent – “Russia must…”.
If Strelkov and the DPR/LPR succeed in stabilizing and controlling their territory Russia will be forced to choose at that point about open support of their cause I would also think.
FP fear mongering – what a hoot. The false flag video linked a couple posts back is work checking out if you have any doubts about what the West and their Ukrainian minions are capable of (as if Maidan snipers and Odessa aren’t clear enough).
Israel, EU and the United States should beware . . . this is now the time in history when whole peoples have been pushed past the point of no return and are quite willing to take up arms and risk death. Intelligence agencies and corporations are running the western governments. But they aren’t smart enough and don’t have enough soul to understand what is really happening. Any open-source analyst following Twitter could be doing a better job at policy, strategy and tactics.
You know, if this is the world these people want to live in, where 90% of humanity are slaves, I’m personally happy to die in a nuclear blast in order for that not to happen. Not really worth it. The human race is not gonna survive anyway, we might as well stand up and fight.

Saker, great posts over the last few days, and thanks for posting the Strelkov interview.
Something in there strikes me as very key, and I wonder if you can comment on it with regards to this post: could the Ukie army/militias apply the same strategy to Donetsk in terms of not engaging the resistance, but bomb all residential big job locations, effectively destroying i.e. Akhmetov’s businesses and forcing a mass exodus of Novorussians?
What is keeping them from doing so? What is Akhmetov’s current role and side in all this (the last I heard was during the Mariupol issue where the Ukie army ‘took over’ shortly after Akhmetov’s employees had cleared hurdles and the resistance had cleared out (another Ukie ‘victory’)…
Josh
Can somebody tell me why some of the Oligarchs, notably Akhmetov, are still operational? WHY?
Unless he is squarely behind the people of Donetsk republic, he should be squarely behind bars.

Why doesn’t Putin turn off the gas for non payment. Poroshenko needs to choose between domestic needs or destroying Eastern Ukraine. Every day that gas flows free to those deadbeats in Kiev makes Putin look pathetic. They have no intention of paying. Didn’t they cut off gas to Crimea?

“The other illusion that is dissolving is that the Russian Ruling Class, including Putin, is somehow, at the root, different from the Ruling Class in the US or Europe. They are Capitalists one and all and the Peoples Republics were showing Socialist tendencies that could not be tolerated by those in power in Moscow or Washington.”
It is no longer useful to divide the world into Capitalist and Socialist. That paradigm’s usefulness has passed into history with in depth collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. This event heralded the end of history and the triumph of the liberal uni-polar world of universal individual human rights, LGTG, R2P, Feminism, consumerism, nihilism, etc. Putin’s Eurasianist Russia is dedicated to a multi-polar world of natural order. The natural order is NO privilege without responsibility.
Neo-liberal global governance is by the 20 percent ‘deep state’ on behalf of the 1 percent billionaires. The control of the 80% is by scientific dictatorship of pharmaceuticals, carbohydrates, mind control media, mind control academia, militarized police forces, unconstitutional political law internationally and domestically, and finance. Russia’s ‘deep state’ rejects this role as enforcer of the oligarch’s vile vision of human greed and degradation. Of course, this vision must struggle against the corruption of man’s post modern tragedy. Traditionalism is the work of centuries for us and our children.
These ideas are formally expressed by Alexander Solshenitsyn (Gulag Archpalego), Alain de Benoist ( Beyond Human Rights), Alexander Dugen (The Fourth Political Theory), Julius Evola (Revolt Against the Modern World), and G. I. Gurdjieff (Beelzebub’s Tales To His Grandson), Boris Mouravieff (Gnosis-Study and Commentary on the Esoteric Tradition of Eastern Orthodoxy), etc.
These human minds are addressing the inherent contradictions of neo-liberalism of the post modern wreckage of the Age of Enlightenment by providing a framework to understand the destruction of human traditions of family, religion, hierarchy, responsibility, etc. as the scientific governance of neo-liberalism’s bee hive vision of human destiny threatens human potential; not to mention the vast suffering and meaninglessness of modern life’s freak, sadist, and zombie circus.
It is within this paradigm we begin to understand the Eurasianist commitment to regaining the roots of human traditions. It is well mankind progresses, but the wholesale destruction of the hard earned knowledge, technology, traditions, etc. of our ancestors by the revolution of the Age of Enlightenment have nearly destroyed the anchor of human life; leaving us bewildered, stunted freaks governed by psychopaths.
Now, we see Alexander Dugin’s influence on Vladimir Putin. Putin is a Eurasianist, committed to nurturing Russia’s traditions of family, ethnos, religion, nation, work, etc. There are oligarchs in Russia, but their privilege is curtailed by the traditionalist vision of NO privilege without responsibility. We cannot call the Russian oligarchs Capitalism. They do not govern, but serve Russia. The poor and the rich are always with us. One must feed the crocodiles, lest they devour you! Russia has crocodiles, but they are confined and domesticated by the Russian traditional hierarchical vision.
The individual is nothing, except in the matrix or traditional community. The vision of philosophers and poets has a place at the table in Russia’s Kremlin. These visionaries are shunned or worse in the West. Prophets are only heard after collapse and great suffering of tyranny, anarchy, gulag, collapse, and war endured by the Russian people during the last century. Great suffering sharpens the mind and psychological awareness of people and 80% of the Russian remnant support the leadership of Vladimir Putin as competent and authentic. He is a man of honor, reason, tradition, and courage elevated to a position of power by suffering Russia in its hour of need. I trust the human mind tempered by hardship and betrayal; these minds recognize truth!
Privet Saker,
I admire you for your analytical and your writing skills.
I can mostly agree with your point of view. Don’t let trolls distract you.
I also don’t know anymore, what to think of Putin. There are pros and cons etc, as you and some commenters have pointed out.
But even with all this in mind I wonder, why not even RT or ITAR-TASS are reporting the true scale of “collateral damage” by western zionazi aggression.
Only some blog sites plus http://www.globalresearch.ca still point to the true brutality.
How can it be, that Israel yet another time invades Gaza (8 dead children during last 24 hours), mobilizing 40 thousand troops.
Etc etc etc, you are aware of that. Only because _some_body killed these 3 Israeli teens (false flag?).
How can Putin and Lawrow still stay passive, after things like this happen every day in Novorussia:

At the same time, France, USA and germany ecided in a phone call, to prepare further sanctions against Russia.
IS THAT NORMAL???
It is about time to shoot back.
As long as this is still possible.
The West will attack anyways. No matter how unbelievably calm, wise, patient and peaceful Moscow continues to be. It is a waste of lives. The West will always want to destroy Russia, no matter what!

I am against violence for any reason and under any circumstances. Because we have evolved a brain that’s demonstrably capable of music, compassion, happiness, we must be capable of the confidence in our beliefs that non-violence requires. Demand that clear conditions for peace be stated by your partisans, then stand with them without threat to their enemies. Peace is the only way.
important for NAF #1 regain south border cutting off forces between mariupol and lugansk region. #2 once secure control of south border with Rostov region push to regain mariupol and its airport so AIR support can begin once secured. #3 Russia awaits the true identity of the people to show, cowards or PATRIOTS?? you vote to be independant do you expect someone to give it to you or are you willing to earn it and fight for it. there is much COST for Russia if she acts and the people are sitting back watching and not doing anything themselves. Donestk is a mess, 3 months to achieve a strong center and they still have kiev goons among them. many fled when Strelkov arrived knowing he would clean house, why was no one else cleaning house before him??

In an ideal world you could rely on such organizations such as the UN.
In reality however, they are part of the empire’s long arm, serving the empire and only the empire.
If you propose “peaceful methods”, then you do the same as these dead burnt alive civilians did.
And now look how they ended!
I always had the same pacifist’s values system.
However: This passivity lets such things happen, instead of preventing them.
How many deaths did you count on Crimea? 0 or 1.
And now compare to Novorossia!
Which approach saved more lives?
I can understand the necessity for Russia, to fist having attempted it the peaceful way.
But when if not now comes the time for a reaction, after it has become obvious, that the WEST is not end never interested in true negotiations?????
Time is running out, the bloodbath is getting worse and worse by the minute.
Analysis of certain features of the politics and economics of The Ukraine in recent years that could help explain the events there.
Regardless of which one can agree or not, I find important figure “the swamp”, which could well be extrapolated today any European country and the U.S. itself.
(IMO, the cancer to be removed).
It also makes clear what the main goal to beat would be by militias ( future Novorussian army ) or a possible Russian intervention, the “family of Dnepopetrovsk”
( Primary tumor )
Interesting also, in the last paragraph:
“… the atomization of ordinary Ukrainians and their inability to defend their collective interests make the Maidan, in elections and referendums are extras in the hands of state-oligarchic groupes, more organized and aware. As an own organization of workers from Ukraine does not appear, to express their interests and not the interests of the “nation”, the “South-East” or the state, a democratic scenario in the country’s political life can not be done. ”

An interesting analysis of the Novorossiyan propaganda war:
Among ostensibly pro-Novorossiyan analysts, bloggers, and activist-journalists, blaming Putin’s lack of bellicosity for the real crimes of the Kiev Junta has become increasingly popular since the tactical withdrawal from Slaviansk. This is bound to have disastrous results and is itself the product of an intentional disinfo project from NATO’s ‘alternative’ media establishment.

Akhmetov is not in Donetsk. But he has many people in his pay.
I’m absolutely sure that there is a reason for everything. Judging by how Putin normally conducts his interviews with the western media it is obvious that he is a very shrewd politician. I can’t believe he wouldn’t use anything that would might advanced the interests of his country. At this point there is no reason for creating massive reactions among Russian population before some of the informational dent is made in the awareness of the western population. Patience and knowing when to move, is the key in winning any conflict. The wall street monkeys are too blinded by their own greed and bound to make some mistakes along the way. One of those mistakes will be fatal. Putin has to be super careful, the future of Russia and the future of the world depends on it. NO NEED TO RUSS AND NO NEED TO POSTPONE. The Judo kick will be gentle but deadly.

I’m not so sure. Uncle Sam might grant asylum for ukrainian nazis just as for so many other murderers and criminals Uncle consider useful. Saakashvili not only got asylum, but well paid job at some college in Washington as well. Some Chechen terrorists also got asylum as well as office paid by american taxpayer. Mykola Lebed – right hand of Stepan Bandera was promoted to CIA director. Iran Shah etc. etc.
In this regard Washington is very special place. This city has by far the biggest number of war criminals, former satraps and mass murderers in the world. Maybe even exceeding all other cities combined (maybe with exception of New York and Telaviv).

the war being fought against east Ukranians is a war being fought against all of Ukraine.

The IMF and EU are funding Kiev. The IMF said they wouldn’t give them the next handout if they didn’t gain control of the east, but I wouldn’t believe anything they say.
Putin is doing a similar mistake that Saddam did in the Gulf, even if Crimea was not an actual invasion, but a referendum.
Saddam invaded Kuwait, with the tacit approval of the Americans, I must emphasise.
Then he waited and waited and waited while a coalition prepared itself, found a wonderful excuse to station a huge military apparatus in the Gulf (Bahrain, North East Saudi Arabia, etc).
I was amazed that he waited, instead of denying the Americans that build up.
If he had invaded Saudi Arabia and took over the Monarchy, the geopolitics of the Arabic Gulf would have been changed in a dramatic way.
Instead he chose the cowardly way to hold to his little gain, Kuwait, like Putin, Crimea, and he paid with his life and the destruction of his Party, Power base and country.
This is what I envisage is currently happening with Putin, he is doing the same mistake, a dreadful and deadly mistake, whilst the Americans are building up their power base in Eastern Europe.
Russia at this rate will be encircled, and the US will then try a nuclear strike.
If they do and Putin is still in power, he might not even retaliate, the way his trend is showing, and will try to negotiate while maybe St Petersburg is suffering the aftermath of a nuclear attack, like Hiroshima or Nagasaki.
These neocons are crazy enough to believe that what worked with Japan will work again with Russia, or China.
One does not negotiate with lunatics.
PS. This was a view which I posted on The Guardian Newspaper which got it obviously censored, and the account making it banned, this is free speech EU style for you :-)
The West wants Novorussia to be the new Palestine (Gaza). The Palestinians receive ‘aid’ from Muslim nations, but this doesn’t prevent the monstrous psychopathic Talmud butchers of Israel periodically exterminating all significant leadership across Palestine, resetting the Humans of that land back to ZERO.
Likewise, the Israeli/US/EU plan for Novorussia is never ending Israel-style Holocaust actions against anyone with the ability or desire to resist. It won’t matter how much covert assistance Russia gives the people of Novorussia in the future, just as it doesn’t matter how many billions of dollars are given to the people of Palestine. The West will simply ensure that such assistance is blown to dust everytime Novorussia starts to build itself up again.
And, of course, the leadership in Novorussia will be encouraged to follow the Palestinians, and give up ever effective means by which they can strike back, in the name of ‘peace’. Notice how the Jews of Israel expect to butcher Palestinians without ANY effective response. Palestinians gave up their ability to bomb Israeli sites in response to Jewish terrorism as part of a ‘peace process’. So now the Jews of Israel can mass slaughter the Humans of Palestine without expecting to lose even one Jewish terrorist life.
Within a year, Novorussia will have its sky saturated with assassination drones. The homes of all Novorussia leaders will be blown to pieces as soon as each new leader arises. Every resistance group will be formally declared ‘terrorist’ by the EU and USA.
Russia’s covert assistance is WORSE than useless. Why? Because it does nothing but encourage the Humans of Novorussia to think they stand a hope of victory, while providing absolute encouragement to Kiev to implement the ‘Gaza’ solution. The West is going to give Kiev indefinite resources, and indefinite funding for the ‘Gaza’ option.
The West’s greatest tactic is to introduce ‘cancer’ to all Earth’s great issues of morality. The West is falling over itself to congratulate Israel for the holocaust in Gaza and Kiev for the holocaust in Novorussia. In response, Putin is on his knees, begging for crumbs in the EU, just as Tony Blair taught him to.
Have we forgotten how Putin personally tore up the legal contract to provide Iran with a state-of-the-art air defence system, because Blair and Israel told him “No!”. By showing that he is afraid of EU/US sanctions, Putin has backed himself into a corner. Like a spineless blackmail victim, the West will demand more and more from Putin.
Most horrifyingly, Russia’s spinelessness now activates the full blooded plan to take Russia down. Those that rule the West had many of their military leaders highly critical of plans to take on Russia. But Russia’s lack of meaningful action to save the people of Novorussia from a Gaza-like fate proves to these reluctant military people that Russia no longer knows what it means to fight for the things that matter most.

Need I say more???
If you go thru the article, and substitute CIA for GRU, Washington for Kremlin, Navy Seals for Spetnatz and Stuxnet for Estonian cyberattack, you get quite a good description of the current US modus operandi

The article by Joaquin Flores elucidates the conscious or unconscious harm done by reflecting the meme that Russia has failed by lack of overt support of Novorossiya. The reflection may be by paid or volunteer agents of information war or alternatively by ‘useful idiots’. There are many comments on Vineyard of the Saker which fall into the disinformation category. The article will inform the well meaning so we can counter and educate in this interesting real time information war. We learn as quickly in time of need!
http://syncreticstudies.com/2014/07/09/novorossiya-the-propaganda-war-methods-and-framework/
“Among ostensibly pro-Novorossiyan analysts, bloggers, and activist-journalists, blaming Putin’s lack of bellicosity for the real crimes of the Kiev Junta has become increasingly popular since the tactical withdrawal from Slaviansk. This is bound to have disastrous results and is itself the product of an intentional disinfo project from NATO’s ‘alternative’ media establishment.”
“But the meme was mirrored by the NATO side (meaning all infowar assets, blogs, editorials, etc.), the mirroring was amplified until the mirrored source attracted primary attention, and then the switch was made towards simply blaming the Russians and Putin for not ‘acting’ quickly and decisively enough. This became no longer a plea for help in the form of further intervention, but another piece of evidence in an assembly of evidences that Putin is self-interested, cowardly, inept, etc. and so on. All of the latter are pretexts for his removal, and subsequent destabilization of the entire Eurasian project.
In the evolution of this meme, this wrong direction was taken up by trusted sources and popularly read public analysts in both the Russian and English speaking spheres.”
“Some mechanisms behind why pro-Russians have succumbed to this are fairly easy to understand. From this it can be untangled. Putin’s competency is being used against him in this vulgarized meme. Those calling for him to ‘do more’ are premising this in having built up his abilities to such a degree that it is unfathomable that he is acting upon a trajectory that is both complex and constrained by reality: he is dealing with 5th and 6th column detractors within the power structure, and he is also pursuing a long term plan which does not succumb to the news cycle and the recency effect that takes hold among the various target audiences of all forms of media.”
“Finally there are just a considerable core of people who are pro-Russian and anti-Putin for either nationalist, pseudo-liberal or communist reasons and cannot understand that now is not the time to take the opportunity to point out that Putin is insufficiently nationalist, insufficiently communist or insufficiently liberal (or too nationalist, too communist, or too liberal) under the guise of journalism or tweets about Ukraine and Novorossiya.”
“The KJ is engaged in a war of aggression against a people pushing towards national liberation. Rather than blaming NATO, the KJ, and those 5th and 6th column within Russia who are in fact responsible for the repression of Novorossiyans, instead the protective ‘father figure’ is blamed for inadequately fulfilling his role as protector. This dynamic is possible through a manner of perception one might characterize as childlike.”
I really don’t want to be a pessimist, but in the long-run, this rebellion will fail. And the reason is clear, the forces amassed against it are formidable and the idea that a small region can hold out against the concerted efforts of not just Kiev but of Washington is just romantic.
The mass defections of Ukrainian military forces doesn’t seem to be happening. And no matter how many MIL helicopters or APCs the Donbass rebels can take out, Washington has assured that it’s replacement is immediately flown in from former Warsaw Pact nations now in NATO.
Even if they can hold out, time is not on their side and their plight is invisible in the broader world. More specifically. the crimes of Kiev are invisible. On top of all that, we all know that the “decision makers” will do whatever the please, in order to pursue “the greater good”. The greater good here is to maintain “territorial integrity.”
And so, just like how the powers-that-be ignored the anti-Iraq war protests that began in 2003 before the invasion itself are a testament to that. The continuation of Gitmo is another.
So, no, prepare yourselves for a disappointment.
I don’t think the banderaivtsy will try to take the towns and cities of Novorossia, but will instead sit back and bombard them, like they did in Slaviansk, expecting that eventually the people will reach a point where feel they cant take any more of the terrorism and demand the antimaydana forces to leave.
Since I also still think the main goal of the western anglo/zionist terror campaign against Novorossia is really against Russia, for the reasons we have all noted on this site, taking Novorossia is probably not a high priority for the anglo/zionists. Keeping the violence going is their main goal right now.

Very well said, and thanks for the essay link.
– prepare yourself for disappointment – fuck you. Did Che prepare himself for disappointment? Jesus Christ? Subcomandante Marcos? Malcolm X? The list goes on and on, of people who have done the opposite, and refused to live like slaves, believing that nothing will ever change, cowards like you.
You should prepare yourself for arms and travel to Donetsk.

Why is time not on NovoRussya’s side? Please elucidate this claim.
And despite the fact that the MSM isn’t highlighting Kiev’s crimes, the truth is getting out.
The NovoRussians are experiencing what the Serbs and others have experienced, and peoples are comparing notes with each other and waking up. Just because your newspaper doesn’t mention the war means little. Like in the former USSR, citizens learn to discount official lies and search for real news.
The fact that the MSM is covering up Kiev’s crimes is doing a lot to discredit the MSM and its propaganda.

Latest VICE dispatch 55 shows graphic proof the retreat wasn’t accomplished as seamlessly and without losses as Strelkov’s initial account suggests. The video plus testimonial of one of the rebel fighters who partook in the retreat paints a picture of chaos and a disorderly retreat to Donetsk. It was a rout. Gubarev during his speech avoids stating rebel casualties by saying they’re still tallying up the official count.
Do they actually have a plan to protect the Donetsk population or are they just selling hope and prayers, because Kiev’s artillery based assault template isn’t likely to change for the better. Those people at the rally seem unaware of the fate that befell Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. Tragic.
Bob Kay:
“The KJ is engaged in a war of aggression against a people pushing towards national liberation. Rather than blaming NATO, the KJ, and those 5th and 6th column within Russia who are in fact responsible for the repression of Novorossiyans, instead the protective ‘father figure’ is blamed for inadequately fulfilling his role as protector. This dynamic is possible through a manner of perception one might characterize as childlike.”
and Anonymous 1:23 and 3:08 who do not like people’s negative assessment,
and вот так who do not like people question Putin,
True it is out side factor got RF into this crisis (if the two Anonymous consider Novorossia’s problem is RF problem), however, it is RF/Putin’s reaction/action dealing the crisis that shape and defines out come. So far, RF’s action has encouraged its enemy to aggressively, actively harm Russian people and Russian interest, and there seems not end in sight. That is why people asking questions.
You know when I read about Palestine’s plea for world to stop Israel from aggression, I thought about RF’s plea at UN, do you hear any difference? That is what RF projects on the world stage. Not quite a image of strength and confidence. Eventually, such short sighted action will bring great harm to RF, and in much greater cost.
One can tell dirty words to people who disagree, and tell them to go to Donetsk, but if you are in RF, the war will get to you, in time, after they finish Donbas. But I have heard Russian people in RF are think differently than some so called Russian that posting on this site include the one who swear. They are not happy with what is going on in NovoRossia. It is nature to question the man in charge, and hold him accountable. After all, it is not US where politician can ruin the country and get away with it, is it?
Pug,
How long has Palestinian be oppressed? How long has the world community know about it? Why do you think the war will have to end in very short time? Did Serb win the conflict?
Do not believe people who tell you the conflict will be over by the winter, It will not. Not if US/EU actively trying to prop Kiev up. Not if RF not actively, effectively helping its people, overtly or covertly.
Saker is right, time to act is now.
It is slowly becoming clear why Putin and RF did not want war in Ukraine, i.e. why they asked for holding up referendum. Without DNR and LNR, what would KJ attack? Yes, KJ may have still attacked Novorussian people, but without any international legitimacy. Note that the last two words are often mentioned, by a variety of western politicians, as justification for KJ bombing of civilians.
If you google “Solzhenitsyn on Putin” it appears that A.I.S. was quite sure that V.V.P. knows what he is doing. And that was only based on his first 8 years in office.

There is a really good article up at Club Orlov
What if it all becomes obvious enough?
“What if Putin, being a strategic thinker that he is in addition to being a master in judo, has an intention to make not just eastern Ukraine but the whole Ukraine a failed-state-showcase of what happens when the US, Nato, EU, and the IMF causes havoc in eastern Europe. Maybe he is giving a lesson to Germany, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, etc. and especially his fellow Russians what happens when the US supports the rabid fascists in their region.
He realizes that the neo-cons and the Atlanticists, being the mindless psychopathic and sociopathic killers that they are, are incapable of grasping the lessons and consequences of their actions and will press ahead uninterruptedly and fail to see the trap that is being laid in front of them.”
The writer grasps the reality of psychopathy in the US admin (and elsewhere, of course). I don’t agree with the cold calculation attributed to Putin in this article because he has tried to head off the violence at every turn but there is much to think about in this short article.

First a circular firing squad, then Strelkov euphoria, now collective histrionics. All in the course of 3 days.
Given you all badly need a drink, allow me to present another pov.
Firstly, has it not been established that the vector of forces playing out in Ukraine is all geopolitical?
Is it not recognized that all the major players have internally conflicting interests? And that a globalized world is a co-dependent world?
So, what are the primary interests of each of the major powers as articulated now in the Ukrainian theater? That is the systemic layout and as of now, the balance of forces. Every disruption of that balance will generate a compensatory disruption
by the competing/codependent actors. The operative concept here is the Buddhist one of “codependent origination”, and it will likely develop step-by-step.
Go through the list and ask who is in position to alter the balance of forces and radically change the landscape? How?
My answer is none of the big players. If they don’t constitute a null set, it’s close.
So it comes down to local initiatives, and they are all answerable to the larger context – all aspects of it – in a multi-dimensional feedback loop. (this is my amateur understanding of 4th gen warfare in a codependent world).
So who’s is the most highly potentiated initiative and depending on what?
Go thru the variables ; do it your way.
My conclusion is that the war is Strelkov’s to lose, and the oligarchy falls in the process.
..
I’m glad to see Juan and other popular bloggers like Suchan sort of better clarify their ideas and clear their senses since the withdrawal from Slaviansk. This hit all of us very hard, and of course we were all very upset by it.
Hopefully analysts there in the region like Joachim Flores who have colleagues on the ground in the fight will keep on helping us to stay grounded.
I like that Juan and Suchan and Flores all are covering this closely but take different angles.
In his latest piece Flores delves a little into psychoanalysis of some bloggers and says:
Novorossiya: Analysis of the Propaganda War – Methods and Framework
“There is also an element of hubris which is typical among western journalists and intellectuals, even those sympathetic to the Russian struggle to build multi-polarity. This involves ‘back-seat driving’, ‘Monday morning quarterbacking’ and ’20/20 hindsight’. Western liberal society produces within its intellectuals and advocates a false sense of expertise on subjects which they are merely conversant in. The western intellectual will produce ‘corrective’ advice for figures they in fact admire for any number of reasons which may be related to self-worth or self-esteem. The primary defect is a conflation of their personal desires, or maximalist goals for that which, on the other hand, is actually possible.
But instead the fact remains that these leaders are operating upon information and implementing plans outside the real scope of knowledge and apprehension of the western journalist or intellectual in question. ….
At any rate, it is ineffective propaganda. Negativistic or low-vibrational memes about Putin’s actions, or lack thereof, will not affect let alone coerce the Russian apparatus into a different course of action. It only whittles away necessary support at a critical time. From the well known subject of basic political messaging 101, responding obediently to criticism is generally an admission that said criticism was true…..
…Another reason people may be more upset and frustrated with either Russia or the defenders of Novorossiya is that they identify more closely with it. When our opponent and real culprit – in this case NATO and the KJ – appear to be winning, we have a healthy tendency to first examine within ourselves what we can be doing better. When we identify closely with Eurasia, this can dysfunctionally result in emotively based and irrational attacks on the Eurasian initiative when we perceive it or them to be an extension of ourselves.”
Interesting stuff, I wonder if the guy has a background in psychology or intelligence work? Certainly he knows more than a few things about media messaging … Or maybe he’s just an agent himself(?!?!) …
based in Belgrade hmmm (ok ok im just being paranoid!)
Would suggest the the Ukies have no intention of invading the cities. Quite the opposite – they intend to surround the cities, cut them off, lay siege , destroy the infrastructure (gas, electricity, water, sewage treatment and food supplies) from a distance, destroy the major factories and wait for people to be starved out of the cities. There is every likelihood that the Ukies intend to clease the entire area of anti-Kiev resistance and leave a population willing to work for near nothing.
What do they plan to do with Donbass? They intend to cover it with franking wells (80,000-140,000) of them under contract to Shell oil.
Donbass is to become a huge gas well supporting only that population that is needed to keep the wells going.
http://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2014/07/06/donbass-russians-subject-unparalleled-ethnic-cleansing.html
If the militias stay in Donetsk and wait for the Ukies, they will be waiting a long time.
Another one, from mrZ:
The kremlin have its own made heroes (put-medv), any others are threat to them, especially folk heroes.
There is another …little…issue. Putin is trying to avoid WW3.
The US and Ukraine are in crazy mode (this thing being completely ran by the neo-cons) and things have to done very carefully otherwise we will get the ‘big one’…and all you will be dead (I live in Australia so I might be ok).
NATO is spoiling for a fight with Russia, it wants to do it. There is some daft idea that they can obliterate any Russian forces in the Ukraine and then re-take the Crimea.
Their well honed forces fresh from their ‘stunning victories’ in Afghanistan (and for some for them,) Iraq are going to hammer the Russians in to the ground.
There are two little faults with this thesis.. one if somehow they did , Russia would use tactical nukes…..If, as far more likely, they get absolutely thumped then they will use tactical nukes.
After that starts then goodbye (what?) 4-5 billion people?
And NATO (ie the the US and the UK) are so insane at the moment that they will do it. They want this war, badly. Will they actually give the Ukraine nerve gas and/or tactical nukes… they might do.
Will NATO troops bomb the heck out of eastern Ukraine..you bet they will. How many of those planes they are flying now are (say) actually Polish?
So these are the big stakes.
At some point the Russians will move in, because NATO will keep escalating till they do. Whatever it takes. Gas, death squads, concentration camps, ethnic cleansing, mass extermination, even direct attacks on Crimea or even Russia itself…they will keep ramping it up until Russia intervenes.
And then it is on.
This is shades of WW1 all over again, except it will be gigadeaths this time.
Any thoughts on the traitor problem? It seems that this has been one of the biggest problems, one that the pro-Russian side has not been able to effectively counter to this point.
Does it look like power will be centralized under Strelkov?

Plenty of popular movements get crushed beneath the fascist boot. With regards to hoping that someday the MSM will come out against Kiev is totally naive.
If the issue doesn’t resonate with producers or editors, it is scrubbed. Editors and producers have traditionally never moved against the official position be it back in the Gulf of Tonkin days, to the invasion of Grenada or Panama, the rise of the RPF violence against Hutus which led to Rwanda, to the EU and IMF machinations that undermined states like Yugoslavia.
Let’s remember that the USA and UK sponsored RPF violence out of Uganda and now that group is in control of Rwanda. And from that base of operations, then began to escalate violence in the Congo next door, including the creation of a proxy government under Kabila. It’s hard to see the Donbass being victorious over such forces. The only time I can think where a nationalist force outside the Washington consensus being victorious was Vietnam, but that required sizeable aid from the USSR and millions of dead.
In the case of Kiev and Donbass here, if you are expecting the MSM to come out against these operations and in favour of this independence movement, think again. It requires the MSM elites to move against the statist elites in government, and that just never happens in any concrete way. It requires that the MSM elite admits they were wrong, which again, will never happen. That’s why the refusal to shed light on these activities is REQUIRED by the MSM. That way, public opinion will not shift in any significant amount. I bet Kiev could literally set off a nuke and the MSM would squirm out of it.
We all know that nice guys always finish last.
Now, people will argue that social media will save the day. The problem is that social media might appear to be a mile wide, but it’s only an inch deep. It’s the latest panacea peddled so people buy or act in prescribed ways. It’s also promotes vanity,
Relying on social media is fraught with even more dangers. For starters, it Balkanizes people into increasingly more radical and fractured camps. True, the MSM used to do this, but never to this scale (because it never had the capability). You end up with two camps on either side and each attempts “to score points”. It creates as much division as it unifies.
It promotes confirmation bias and will be used to greater effect by less savoury types like fascists and statists.
Not only that, but people just don’t bother to read anything expansive. I used to blame television formats for this but now not so sure. The rise of the listicle and other newer forms of abbreviated “journalism”, for me, is the biggest threat facing us because so many other problems flow from this.
It certainly doesn’t help that the Western population suffers from ADHD and so easily distracted by careful use of officialdom. Social media is not necessarily the cause, but it certain does make people even lazier.
As for this idea that the MSM credibility is heading into the toilet is, sorry to say, hoping for something that never going to happen. The MSM gets discredited on a regular basis but ne up just chugging along as if nothing happened.
All this is why trends are not in favour of the Donbass. Sure, one off events can have dramatic effects, but run the probabilities.
I was never a supporter of the use of violence in the Donbass. It is true that they never did that much more than the mobs in the West like Lvov did, but the people in Donbass were never going to be favoured by Brussels or Washington.
Sadly, cynicism has yet to disappoint me.
Dear Saker
To you, all friends of Russia and MULTIPOLAR world.
There will be in Russia people who will turn against V.V.P. because he “betrays” Novorosia. This people will get support from NATO/EU.

Everybody will get support from NATO/EU against Putin or whoever is the president.

He realizes that the neo-cons and the Atlanticists, being the mindless psychopathic and sociopathic killers that they are, are incapable of grasping the lessons and consequences of their actions and will press ahead uninterruptedly and fail to see the trap that is being laid in front of them. Remember that psychopaths always think that they’ll never get caught, that they’re invincible and they, until the very last moment, will always deny their doom (just ask Napoleon and Hitler). So what if Putin’s strategic advisors egged on the Kiev regime to bomb unimportant civilian locations making them think that there was concentrated partisan militia and now scattering the militia in various areas where they can take down invididual KJ troops. Could it be Putin’s motive to get the KJ bogged down in eastern Ukraine and at the same time causing increasing revulsion of the people in Russia proper.
It’s one thing for the patriotic Russian media to educate on how the US caused mayhem and failed states in Libya and Iraq. It’s quite another to show that the US is causing this same mayhem and failed state right on their border and in the process killing innocent Russians. Indeed by demonstrating the barbarity of the US and its KJ puppets, Putin may in fact be delivering a blow to the fifth columnist pro American forces in Russia. “See what your American friends are doing to our people”. To the sixth columnists that Joaquin mentioned, Putin can call their bluff and tell them “If you’re so upset at what’s happening in Donetsk, don’t get angry at me. Why don’t you start mobilizing and organizing your own people and the public to volunteer to help out the resistance. Either put up or shut up.”
The US and Nato have nothing positive and constructive to offer. All they can do is create mayhem, death and failed states. That’s all they know how to do. All they can do is blackmail, sanction and threaten states like Bulgaria into not letting a gas pipeline through their territory. Now I’m absolutely certain that the whole of eastern Europe and Germany will eventually come on the side of Russia. I have no doubt now. The truth is so obvious. If Putin had intervened right away in eastern Ukraine then this process of Europe and Russia learning about the US and Nato would have been pre-empted. Putin wants this process to continue to its conclusion. Unfortunately innocent people will die but sometimes a few have to be sacrificed so the world can learn the truth. I’m sorry but that’s how the world and politics work.

What the regime is doing more efficiently that I had hoped is mining the huge trove of Soviet era equipment stored or semi-abandoned in dumps all across the Ukraine. This gives them an almost endless supply of ammunition, artillery and replacement vehicles.
What it is going to do now, having made a terrible example of what happens to cities that defy it, is to isolate city after city and==having done so==offer the defenders a deal and try to establish counter examples of the cities that comply. This, in any case is probably the “counter insurgency” strategy the Americans –who see their press control fraying–are pushing them to do.
If Moscow, as is rumored. really acts to cut off their supply lines from the Crimea, that will be a stab in the back from which the resistance can hardly recover and internal pressure for deals will mount.
Alas.
I agree with “the pug” above: time is not on Kiev’s side here (or Washington’s). Dmitri Orlov agrees, too.
I just want to mention here that the hip news source VICE is regretably just another MSM propaganda source, wearing hipster clothes.

I’d be inclined to agree with you, except there is no reason for Kiev to even bother and more reasons to do the opposite of the above. Why negotiate and appear “weak” when you can crush your opponents with near impunity?
Is Poroschenko “a nice guy” and would it be enough to overcome the willpower of everyone else in his government? Would he have allies and would those be enough?

In the past VICE did some very good reporting from various parts of the world, with an original style which I found very refreshing. However, in what concerns the Ukraine and Russia, VICE did the mistake of hiring a Russian-speaking creep who is clearly a hateful russophobe and who turned the VICE reporting from the Ukraine into a pseudo-free-media soundboard of US State Department views.
Simon Ostrovsky is, frankly, an exceptionally toxic kind of provocateur precisely because he does not sound like Psaki, yet he very much works in a tag team with her.
I would not give any more weight to anything Ostrovsky produces for VICE, then I would to Stratfor or Debka. These are all pseudo-alternatives sources who are as much part of the AngloZionist propaganda system as NED or anything funded by George Soros.

Now, you need to put what is happening in Ukraine within the bigger world context.
a. When Southstream is up and signed. Ukraine becomes worthless to Nato and the Americans. Why? Because the Ukrainian pipelines will be worthless. Getting Southstream done is a priority.
b. Banks. People you really need to start reading about what is happening to Banks around the world.
I personally follow http://www.jsmineset.com/ to get a clearly picture on banking.
Canada, Germany are considering or implementing laws that would allow government or creditors to confiscate people’s savings. Cyprus part 2, except that it will be your own accounts and savings.

Why do we need to know about Banking?
Petrodollar.
Russia is already at war with the US. And in this war, the US is losing. Why? Russia and China partnership. Both have been dumping US treasury bonds, buying gold, and making new financial agreements that exclude the dollar. Petrodollar breaks, US collapses, it is going to get ugly.
c. BRICS.

19:00 on Nato expansion. The clip is 30 min long, and the whole clip is a key on understanding Putin.
What is happening in Ukraine, has never been about Ukraine. It has always been about Russia. Now the question we must ask ourselves after watching this clip, do we have Putin’s back? Because I do not believe there is another leader out there, trying to ensure his country is not enslaved by those who believe in a unipolar world.
If we have his back then we need to stop projecting our own doubts and fears onto the man, because frankly he has enough to deal with. Private whining, sure. Public whining, no as that will only help fuel the US propaganda that wants to see Putin toppled from within.
Again, I am completely disappointed in Saker. Seriously, man, get a grip.
