Reminder: John Kirby is a “spokesperson” (yup, that is the correct newspeak) for the US State Department, presumably the branch of the Executive in charge of *diplomacy*. Well, all I can say is that considering the level of US “diplomats” today, I sure hope that Donald Trump will (finally!) appoint some *real*, professional, career diplomats and not yet another bunch of rude, condescending, ignorant and, frankly, stupid amateurs like Kirby.
To have a superpower represented by this guys is just a national embarrassment, especially when compared to Maria Zakharova, who not only hold a Ph.D in history, is fluent in Chinese and can dance like a pro, but also has a superb ability to convey the Russian position with grace and intelligence.
Question: I get a feeling that Kirby is afraid of intelligent women. Is that only me?

He is a member of the 7th Floor, can’t-shoot-straight gang who just publicly shot himself in the foot. Call in Marc Toner who at least has the intelligence/heart to laugh at the more patently stupid things he has to say.

And what else it’s new? All these State Department “spokespersons” are/were as bad as each other, every single last one of them – remember oh… what-her-name, Jen Psaki? One piece of work she was! The worse of the lot if you ask me, and that’s sayin’ something!
Having said that… and not trying in anyway to minimize nor excuse Kirby’s actions in any way whatsoever, but I have the nagging feeling that this guy fancies our trooper gal, Gayane, and as a result, he’s acting like a school-boy pulling her pony tail and then excusing his bizarre antics as her being part of the Kremlin establishment or whatever…
Don’t ask me why, but I’ve been having that feeling for some time now after seeing them interact and seeing the sparks fly (mainly on his end, to be fair). I for one; wouldn’t be surprised if these two get hitched after the US-Russian relations get normalized under a Trump’s administration.

We mustn’t underestimate Admiral Kirby. According to Wikipedia, he “is a 1981 graduate of Saint Petersburg Catholic High School, and a 1985 graduate of the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in history. He holds a master of science degree in international relations from Troy State University and a master of arts in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College”.

Before attaining the position of US State Dept spokesperson they must go through a battery of tests including personality, charisma, historical knowledge, intelligence, etc. Judging by the performance of Kirby, and Psaki before him, only those candidates who spectacularly fail every one of them are seriously considered.

Glad to say, in the last couple of months the lies have increasingly grown to be to much for many Finns to swallow. Kirby is an arrogant person (I was going to use a three letter abbreviation but realize the Saker doesn’t like that!) who thinks that just because he made admiral in his earlier life, he can lord it over an international press corps. I served in the US navy as a very junior officer, and I would hate to have someone like him as my commanding officer.
