I have come across another video of a Donbass militia volunteer giving a status update to local residents in a public square somewhere in Slavyansk. There is a Q&A session at the end. If Mr Bazov has the time and inclination, it would be interesting to know what questions are asked (to give us a view on the concerns of the non-militia locals) and the respective answers.
This all links to the issue of poor PR on the Russian side. They don’t seem to appreciate the saying that lies travel halfway around the world before the truth has time to get it’s boots on.
I know these sort of videos are produced by the innocent victims in this mess, but they really should have proper English subtitles at least to allow their message to be seen by the rest of the world. English unfortunately is the lowest common denominator for global messaging.

A question wrt the PR: Why isn’t there more of an effort by the Novorossia groups to address Ukraine, especially in Ukrainian? Northern Lugansk is largely Ukrainophone (mainly agricultural). Doing so will force a rift in nationalist groups between state and language issues, and could in principle lead to progress on issues such as language education and modernisation of the Ukrainian language regarding scientific matters.
And meanwhile, the Polish Foreign Minister was taped saying this on the phone:
“The Polish-American alliance isn’t worth anything. It is even harmful because it creates a false sense of security for Poland,” the person said. “(We are) suckers, total suckers. The problem in Poland is that we have shallow pride and low self-esteem.”
Using vulgar language and expletives, Sikorski argued that the Polish-U.S. alliance could alienate two key neighbors of Poland, Russia and Germany.
