June 3rd combat SITREP update by “Juan”
- No sleep from 05:00 02.06. Please excuse spelling mistakes.
- During a protest near Lviv in west Ukraine by women demanding the return of their conscripted sons and husbands the women were beaten by Tyagnibok’s Svoboda Party operatives. Two women are in hospital.
- Artillery fire commenced against the town of Severodonetsk 04:20 local time.
- Slavyansk and Kramatorsk heavy fighting resumed dawn today. 3 enemy BTR’s destroyed before dawn 03 June 2014 Kramatorsk area. Casualties unknown.
- Lugansk fighting and artillery bombardments started dawn in outskirts. One flats building hit by artillery and on fire. Casualties unknown.
- 27 children including some milk babies were successfully evacuated from Kromatorsk after dark 01 June. Destination unknown.
- Intense fighting around Kramotorsk Aerodrome from dawn today. The distinctive sound of a German MG3 was clearly heard. This weapon is known to be in Nats armories in small numbers and some rechambered for Russian 7.62 x 54 round from NATO 7.62 x 51 round. High cyclic rate of fire.
- Ukraine Army is blocking all traffic in and out of Donetsk City and Slavyansk. No medical supplies are allowed in to either area. The prohibition of evacuating children from both cities is still in effect by Junta. Sick and severely wounded evacuation is prohibited.
- Reports of very heavy fighting suburbs of Slavyansk 08:10 local time. Reports of tank cannon fire in the area of fighting are unconfirmed. Tank cannon have a distinctive sound different from artillery of the same caliber.
- 09:29 local time column of tanks and BTR’s have fought their way in to Slavyansk with right sector infantry. Very intense fighting extant in actual city.
They always wanted the chance to get the Right Sector where they wanted them. Now there are hundreds right there inside Slavyansk and Krasni Lyman. We’ll see if the anti-Right Sector forces are up to the challenge. They seem to be playing Rope a Dope now. An MI-24 was shot down but the Igla rocket barely damaged it. Video shows it continuing to fight for awhile. It landed in friendly territory, meaning the pilot will be back in the air again soon probably. Reports of a Frogfoot being shot down have not been confirmed with photographic evidence of any kind. It looks like they can lose this without decent anti-aircraft weaponry.
I asked before, do the rebels have IR technology like the Ukries? Do they have night vision glasses?
According to the social media page of Strelkov, at 15:40 it’s about to rain heavily in Slavyansk and Krasny Lyman. They have been shooting at the Frogfoots with ZUs but now the planes and turntables (everyone’s word for helicopters) won’t be flying at all because of the rain. So the Right Sector troops will be fighting it out with the rebels wihout air cover for an hour or two.
please go home anonymous, play one of your war ego shooters. theres real people dying right now, thats not exciting … maybe you can spare a tear
Remember svd, that Right Sector tried to stage a second coup in March in Kiev but were talked into leaving the city and joining either the Natsgvardia or one of Kolomoisky’s battalions. The new powers that be, possibly including most oligarchs and maybe the socialist EU (that the Right Sector hates as much as Russia does) and the USA (but I doubt it), would have considered RS to be loose cannons and not wanted to ever give them a second chance at creating another coup or assassinating politicians that want to make deals with Russia or allow federalization.
If that is the case, then this might be a trap for Right Sector. It’s possible that Avakov (whom Right Sector wanted fired) and Poroshenko want those troops that just entered Slavansk to be effectively entering the Hotel California.
In the Great Crusades, troops were sent to fight whose sponsors didn’t want them to come back.
This isn’t a wild conspiracy theory either. At some level there must be truth to this. I’m not sure, however, if the rebels were forewarned about today.
Yes, the events of the day are horrifying. Nobody is thinking that this is “exciting”.
@Anonymous 13:26,
I believed the same thing you mentioned too ( from the start of the Maidan protests);i.e. that Right Sector fools are exactly the equivalent of Hitler’s “Brown Shirts”. Just like the original brown-shirts, they are to be eliminated when they are longer needed. To this effect, I believe they’re using Eastern Ukrainian separatists to exterminate them. Yarosh is definitely a paid agent, the fools that follow him deserve their fate. They want as many Reich Sector idiots as far away from Kiev as can be managed.
Also, on the other side, some of the Vostok battalion members are somebody’s infiltrators (Akmetov’s?); native Donbass forces need to watch these guys very carefully. They should monitor for any signs from this unit, regarding creating dissension in the ranks as well as setting up false flags (bombings, artillery, other atrocities) against ethnic Donbass Russians to enrage the public in the Russia Federation. Kadyrov was emphatic that he didnt send the Chechen contigent of this unit, what if he’s telling the truth?
This is a very ugly situation. Someone is trying to force an overt Russian intervention.
This may upset people but in military affairs, humanitarian affairs and geopolitics, facts and numbers matter. Russians have to coldly assess how many Russians will die if Russia intervenes directly vs how many will die if they don’t. If fewer will die if Russia doesn’t intervene (weighed off against Russia’s geopolitical interests), then Russia will not intervene overtly. They will continue to provide covert support to drain their enemy and cause the final bankruptcy and debt default of THE Ukraine; forcing the EU, IMF and London Bankers to eat their ties and develop ulcers and the attendant compulsive constipation a sore-losing pyschopath experiences when they lose.
They should not intervene overtly as long as they achieve victory without doing so; minimizing the loss of life and economic damage to all those on their side.
Thanks a lot, Saker, for the fantastic job and of course a huge thank you to Juan.
Considering the crass disinformation reigning around our mass medias (Same lies as BBC here with RFI), it’s essential to spread the truth as much as we can so I’ve made a French translation of the SITREP on my blog : http://gaideclin.blogspot.fr/
Foreign Policy (a US establishment blowhorn) says no fascists in Ukraine (it’s paywalled, but the first paragraphs tell it all)

Strelkov just sadly announced the capture by Ukr forces of Krasni Lyman. On the map, Krasni Lyman is off to the east of the main highway behind a mountainous state park and the Northern Donetsk River along the state road T0514. It can’t be called a suburb of Slavyansk really. It’s a separate town 10 miles to the east of Slavyansk with that one road separating it from reinforcements from the west (Izzum). If a NFZ was effectively established in the region (old S-300s found along the road for instance), the Ukr unit that just captured Krasni Lyman would be isolated. To me, this has to be a trap. The Ukr unit is way out on a limb now. Anyone disagree?
sorry, it was purely an emotional reaction. comment 1 just sounded like some guys that sit in cinemas and laugh and chat when something really “actioned” happens in an action movie. and just having seen the scenes in lugansk and realising how brutal and grey the reality of war is i just snapped at you. i guess some expert will explain to us after the butchery is over how it all went and who had what and why. so maybe for now spare a tear or if you have someone to pray to, spare a prayer. oh and somehow spread the truth, that fascism truly rears its head again in europe.
All I can say is that the forces controlling the Junta seem to believe that they have very little time available to them. They seem to be in a tremendous hurry. And in their hurry they are intent on performing as many atrocities as they can.
They want Putin to intervene. As long as he does not, it is a losing hand for the forces controlling the Junta.
May dear God go with you.
I hear you. Rand Paul’s office says, however, that only a few people have been calling about the Ukraine situation. He is a coward or uninformed and sees no reason, as a member of the opposition, to speak out against Obama’s insane Ukraine policy.
Senator Heller is the next highest level politician in the US who could try to say boo, but we’re hearing silence from him too.
Putin’s “personal diplomacy” is going nowhere. These people are Russian. He is the President of Russia. They are calling on him for protection (not the UN, not the West).
How has his UN resolution fared? It’s dead on arrival.
Does Putin consider this an internal Ukrainian matter? Then let him stop sending mixed signal to people standing up to tanks with their bare hands!
If this was chess, Putin would be close to check, on his way to check mate. When the Ukraine election was followed, not by reasonable attempts at diplomacy, but aerial bombardment of civilians, Putin should have lashed out and forced the West to contemplate an incinerated NY, London and DC, or a negotiated settlement. They would have chose the latter.
This is the New World Order. Submit or fight. There is no middle ground; for they allow none.
Senior Russian politicians and officials will be shooting assault rifles and driving tanks this week in regular reserve officer training, supervised personally by the defense minister. … These are 286 State Duma MPs and staff members, 72 senators and upper house staff, 23 people from the Audit Chamber and nine representatives of the Central Elections Commission.
Organizers of the basic training plan to deliver several lectures on the main directions of Russia’s military development, global security, informational security, and the latest concepts in military strategy.

The West has opened an infinite check book for the “junta”, which is not a Junta at all.
It is the Western-leaning people that were there before the street uprisings, not anyone new from out of power or that represents “the street”. The people in charge simply moved an election forward (at great cost) they did not take with force what they could not have taken in other ways. The force was just because they could, because they get off on causing pain and misery.
The average Ukrainian has wagered that now that the infinite check book is opened, they are better off not rocking the boat. They might be right.
Those thinking that “time is not on the West’s side, don’t understand what the West is and the kind of people that run it.
BASTARD KILLERS AND MURDERS
The loud voice comes here too…
I come with a love, mine alone,
But now it can be yours.
No wind or light
Confers such blight
As love does
This burntout love of mine
Cool only in the eyes
Eyes that reck the blight
Of this love…
Nowhere the sign
Nowhere divine
For now man and woman
Stand each alone
No wind or light
Confers such blight
As love does
After this sick battle
Of tin men at war
I stood screaming
As love does
Screaming I wrestle with the dead
To search each bloody hand
For youth. Come,
Come here to me, man
And tell me if this blight
Of time and execution
Shot your seed upon this earth
Where blood feeds upon stone.
Fuck this dead man
I drag aside
He’s looking in my eyes
As he gives me one love
And no wind or light
Confers such blight
As this my love encrusted
Encrusted on a stone
Where metal erased his name.
Oblivion will not come
To that red signature
Of one whose love was bought
Of one whose love was sold
Love wasted
Of such tender words
And of such strong paces
And through this world I now and all,
All who hear me out, will carry
Carry this love alone
As the first and last reason for living.

It seems to me that Putin won’t let this slaughter go on for much longer.
With the UN resolution he has now got a ‘trail’ of his attempts at a peaceful solution, which has been negated and shunned by the West.
He’ll be in Normandy on June 6th, where Obama – who happens to be there as well – won’t speak with him, but Putin will speak with Hollande and Cameron.
I think Putin will tighten the screws there and then, and draw a red line – like, no more fighting by the weekend or else.
Unlike Obama, he’ll not waver or retreat.
