“Russia has finally realized that the Western “leadership” (‘Chest-puffers’ as Maria delightfully phrased it) only understands blunt and direct messages.”
That realisation was attained by some in the late 1960’s after the “Prague Spring and Tet offensive in Vietnam”, and was a component part of facilitating the ongoing transcendence of the “Soviet Union” by the Russian Federation, and the ongoing transcendence of “The United States of America” by the the Russian Federation, all through not engaging in “blunt and direct messages”.
That this was not perceived by many was also a component part of facilitating the ongoing transcendence of the “Soviet Union” by the Russian Federation, and the ongoing transcendence of “The United States of America” by the the Russian Federation, since from the early 1970’s onwards “The collective West has been living in a fantasy land.” and continues to live in a fantasy land in some assay.
This also facilitated the professionalism of Ms. Zhakarova and others as an ongoing process.
Thank you for your observations. I must say firstly that, as I do not consider either the SU, RF or USA as chemical or molecular objects, I do not use “assay” and consider “analysis” to be the superior usage in this context.
That aside, whether transcending, ascending or descending is occurring is merely an observation of fact at any given moment and can make little contribution to accurate forecasting by itself, without a host of other causal factors being examined and assessed for effect.
The 1970’s saw the US move the dollar off the gold standard, and this singular (and sneakily underhanded) event was to usher in two critical factors: 1) the ability of the US to offshore its inflation, thus avoiding devaluing the dollar; and 2) the acceptance by the rest of the world (either willingly or unwittingly) of this massive advantage accruing to Washington.
This financial advantage ushered in the ability to ‘buy’ people at virtually all levels, and began the process of rewarding feckless loyalty over merit based on competence, and this slowly led to the utter ignorance and degeneracy we see permeating most of the western world (and much of the developing world as well).
Putin, Lavrov, Peskov and Zhakarova have seen for two decades the way that good manners and polite diplomacy have simply been wasted on the vast majority of the “chest puffers” — or to be blunt, the complete ignoramuses and uncouth cretins that pass for western representatives these days.
Russia of course should not, and will not, stoop to the low levels of these creatures, but has (as Saker has often pointed out) had to bide her time to build up strength, post the disastrous 90’s.
It appears from Maria’s interview above, Lavrov in China recently, and from Putin’s recent address to the Federal Assembly, that Russia is ready to assert her views without fear or favour, just the unvarnished reality.

“post the disastrous 90’s”
The 1990’s were not disastrous although perceived to be so by some which in interaction facilitated “the present”.
The Russian Federation has always implemented its strategies without fear of favour, or resort to advertising since the opponents are prone to attempt to bridge doubt by belief which reduces requirements of efforts by the Russian Federation, which also in interaction facilitated “the present”.
“…at any given moment and can make little contribution to accurate forecasting by itself”
That has always been understood by the Russian Federation and informed its practice; in contrast the opponents’ practices have rarely been informed by such understanding which in interaction facilitated “the present”
Hence
“Putin, Lavrov, Peskov and Zhakarova have seen for two decades the way that good manners and polite diplomacy have simply been wasted on the vast majority of the “chest puffers” — or to be blunt, the complete ignoramuses and uncouth cretins that pass for western representatives these days.”
is more likely to be a projection of your beliefs rather than the views of Mr. Putin and Mr. Lavrov, whom have understood the utility of “colleagues/partners” since at least 1991/2; since they were in education Mr. Peskov and Ms. Zhakarova probably understood this at a later time.
The beliefs/opinion of “The Saker” that ” (Russia) had to bide her time to build up strength.” was a function of facility, an “explanation” proposed by June 2014 in respect of Ukraine and the acceptance of Crimea into the Russian Federation, when the Russian Federation did not do what others thought they had to/must do in respect of Donbass, rather than perceiving that the Russian Federation chose to follow strategies rather than the had to/must do follow strategies proposed by others, there by extending the “Collective West living in fantasy land.”
Corroboration can be gained through accessing electronic copies of articles and comments directed through the Saker portal in the period from 1st February to 30th June 2014 (including some of those comments that were “moderated”).
“The 1970’s saw the US move the dollar off the gold standard, and this singular (and sneakily underhanded) event was to usher in two critical factors: 1) the ability of the US to offshore its inflation, thus avoiding devaluing the dollar; and 2) the acceptance by the rest of the world (either willingly or unwittingly) of this massive advantage accruing to Washington.”
Self-absorption is a facilitator of myopia.
In 1968/69 these forecasted by some two critical factors helped also to catalyse the process of preparations to transcend the “Soviet Union” which remains ongoing, and simultaneously, but with a lesser initial velocity, the transcendence of “The United States of America” which remains ongoing and hence “two” apparently metamorphised into “more than two”.
Thank you for your co-operation in illustrating some components in the petri dish of the opponents’ culture.
These western “leaders” are prime examples of CS Lewis’ “men without chests” from his book The Abolition of Man. His famous quote:
“We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst.”
By denying the values that have been bred in our bones since the beginning of time, whether that be from divine instruction or from the brutal lessons of evolution, we wind up with the parasites we have today. The men without chests are not/were not restricted to “western leaders”, they are endemic in the social relations self-designated as “The United States of America”, although the men without chests who are not “western leaders” seek to deny this through their denials of agency – in emulation of a song whose chorus is “It wasn’t me”- , and evangelising their “victimhood”, whilst simultaneously believing that they have facilities sufficient to evaluate phenomena and guide others with their revelations.

“Putin, Lavrov, Peskov and Zhakarova have seen for two decades the way that good manners and polite diplomacy have simply been wasted on the vast majority of the “chest puffers”
Not every chest puffer remains a “chest puffer” since some former “chest puffers” can learn from experience.
Some other “chest puffers” such as the former Director of the CIA and President George H. W. Bush would never consider “Apologising for America” remained “chest puffers” thereby becoming complicit in the lateral process of transcendence of the “United States of America” by the Russian Federation.
An illustration of this trajectory of experience offered by a former and self-recognised “chest puffer”:
I am not good with sports metaphors, but you hit out of the park.
Bang bang bang, MZ returns every shot, and them some.
My god, what a performance—just an expression, that. What a showing. Choose your word.
Concerning sports figures of speech, one of my favorite moments is where she calls out Fasbender when she instructs him: “This is not a game.”
Nosirree it is not. Western commentators and even diplomats and elected officials seem to be incapable of getting past the game metaphor and “gaming” theory, to grasp that the situation is deadly serious. Perhaps they are happy to be blown up with insouciance—the rest of us are not.
I agree that MZ could well be the next leader of Russia. That is, she appears to be entirely competent to take over. Empress Maria I of all the Russians.
We share the enthusiasm for just how well Maria rebutted all the BS that gets continually thrown at Russia, and did it in such a classy style.
I note many here have stated how they would like MZ to be President of the RF one day. I myself have no doubt she is more than capable to do this, but I am not so sure I would wish this upon her! Having said that, I do also believe Maria would make an ideal successor to Lavrov as Foreign Minister.
I of course do not know her personally, but from what I see, she seems an incredibly NICE lady, far too nice a person to have to even be in the same room as some of these foreign muppets.
I know Putin cannot stay forever, but I am sure he has been ensuring that a great team is being readied for when the time comes and they are called to serve.
If Putin has to step away prematurely, my preference would be for Nikolai Platonovich Patrushev to step up, as he has a formidable intellect and is hard-nosed enough to scare the pants off any opponents of Russia’s interests. The only downside is he is actually older than Putin by a year or so.
Anyway, we live in interesting times, as they say.
Also great was the way she took the “gotcha” Nord Stream 2 questions to the next level without cutting a sweat.
Judo move. Use the questioner’s momentum to take him where he didn’t, actually, plan to go . . .
(Same with the Navalny question; Fasbender might have ended up thinking, “Gee, I wish I hadn’t asked that . . .”)
Of course, she was prepared for this. And didn’t lose the opportunity to sock it to the Germans who are undercutting their own national interests and, BTW, apparently think nothing of making very serious, very valuable, long-term contracts and then breaking them on command.
That is, the Germans are edging close to being as “agreement incapable” as their transatlantic boss. (Always to be borne in mind, though, is that Germany is by law an occupied country.)
But if the Germans cave, Germany (and of course the western investors who in a sense are “along for the ride” in a ) will take a much bigger hit than will Russia.
Russia has been a very reliable supplier of gas to Europe for many, many decades. This supply arrangement has been based on long-term contracts with favorable prices for Germany/Europe.
If Germany bails out of NS2 at the eleventh hour, will Russia ever be willing to sign a contract with Western counterparts again? Will investors maybe sue the pants of Germany, not only for lready sunk costs but also for lost future profits?
I think it would be very, very stupid for Germany to pull the plug on NS2.
But that doesn’t mean she won’t do it.
Indeed just like Catherine the Great, under Zhakarova’s reign, Russia’s culture will be revitalised and Russia will achieve many great things. The second golden age of Russia which began with Vladimir Putin, will continue under Maria Zhakarova. Imagine the sight of western hags and histrionics – Clinton, Albright, Pelosi & consorts ;-)
>”Maria Zhakarova will be Catherine the Great after Putin The Great”
Yes, Mr V, I agree. But…
“will”?? She is not ambitious. More like “shall”, as in went VVP asked himself (he’s said) “Is this my fate?” Mother Russia calls, the Russian obeys. She is for Russia. Is cultural quality, and maybe also bred by the circumstances of the geography…genetic and non genetic and epigenetic mechanism remain mysterious. The “gods” decide.
There are certainly others also qualified to lead the Russian Empire ( Margarita Simonyan said this (revisionist? empire) was her desire and I believe it’s a popular idea, and in a sense Russia right now is an old established empire), but the absolute best does seem to be this brilliant and moral lady.
The lady is impressive when she conducts briefings in English, but even more so when ranging freely in her native language. What a characterful and incisive virago……I think I am in love….everything she said was true…
A double blast, what does Russia want military prowess for, her fabulous looks and intelligence surely disarm the west into impotence at one glance and hearing.
President Putin has admitted that he is concerned about who will take over when he retires but he has not had an apparent heir that he is grooming. It would be like him to have had one in plain sight all along.
Impressive. Immensely impressive.
Not just the graceful look, but the thought process, the content/words and the delivery, in a calm measured and forthright manner.
Russia is blessed with this stateswoman.
MOSCOW, April 26. /TASS/. Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov on Monday notified the US charge d’affaires in Moscow Bart Gorman more retaliatory measures in connection with US hostile actions would follow soon.
Hopefully also lots of unwanted persons and organisations will be be temoved shut down as hinted at previously. Peskov states that Z’s wishes to change Minsk….have more negotiators….other countries join in etc will actually terminate Minsk.
So we expect more from Nato /EU/ USA until autumn russian elections? Especially concerning elections probably.
Some while ago, someone sugested Symonyan was on the same level as Zakarova.
Not for me. Id say Symomyan is flirting material, whereas zakarova is the marrying until death does us apart kind.
No nonsense, no fakeness or wokeness. Just a woman doing its job almost as an art form.
Common Sheeple have no idea, but anyone that can see through the fence can see how western so called leaders are outclassed on every level by their russian equivalents.
I did not mean to imply this, this point taken was the re-establishing of the Russian Empire as a popular idea, at this time, which she expressed. Her upbringing included perhaps far too much foreign life for her to take a heavy role, I think. Of course MS is not on the level of Maria Z.
It’s very refreshing to see across the board attitude in Russia and China of “Cut the Bullsh*t”. Putin, Lavrov, Xi and now Zhakarova, not giving an inch.
The German interviewer did his best, but she shot back and shot down all his arguments.
I enjoyed and agreed with most of Ms. Zhakarova speech (because IMO it was a speech, not an “intreview”).
After I have listened to a speech, I always ask a question. For just exactly WHOM was the speech intended? I always keep in mind before answering that almost all of the time important discussions between the members of any nation’s ruling class, as well as inter-national discussions between the members of the ruling classes of two or more nations, are carried out in secret, not, for lack of a better expression, in public.
So, with the above in mind, for just exactly WHOSE ears was Ms. Zhakarova’s speech intended? To me it is quite obvious. (Hint-question: why are important discussions almost always carried out in secret?)
‘I am far too polite and professional to call Western politicians a bunch of ignorant f***wits, but there does seem to be a dawning emergence of insight in Western populations that, were I to express matters in such terms, that they might concede that I did indeed have a point….’
MOSCOW, April 25. /TASS/. Russia has launched an effort on creating the list of unfriendly states, which are banned from hiring Russian citizens for work in the diplomatic missions, and the United States is among them, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on the Rossiya-1 TV channel. “As you know, yesterday the decree of President [Vladimir Putin] was published, which contains a whole number of measures on fulfilling the already existing federal laws, under which those states, which are declared unfriendly, cannot hire Russian citizens as staff for their diplomatic and consular missions. What are these unfriendly states? The list is being drawn up now. As we understand, the whole story began with another wave of unfriendly US steps. As you understand and I can confirm this, naturally, the US is on this list,” the diplomat said. “You will find out about the other states as soon as the government’s decree is published and the respective list emerges,” she noted. Zakharova stressed that the president’s decree was a retaliatory measure against other countries’ hostile steps. “We have always highlighted that our foreign policy is absolutely peaceful. But we have also always stressed that all steps, which we consider as unfriendly and hostile will never remain unanswered. That package of measures, which is being taken now, is certainly a retaliatory measure. These aren’t aggressive steps by our country, this is a response and protection of our country from hostile and unfriendly steps by those, who are preoccupied about us, and those who are somehow trying to halt our development: through the containment policy and through isolation attempts,” she explained.”
Tass is spelling her surname Zakharova….is Zhakarova also a recognised version?
I would really love (for people with acoustic problems, e.g.) that articles like these would be accompanied by a written transcription.
Yes, I admire Ms. Zhakarova – but, pitty – I am not able of listening…
And, please – don’t send me to “google translate subtitle” – crap. This is (as I said) just: crap.
hearing Maria Zakharova I feel like a confirmation of the impression I’ve had for quite a long time. It is as if the politicians in the so called “west” remained stuck in the 1990’s when they had a global hegemony, and they are absolutely blind to the world in the 2020’s, where they would have to deal with a tri-polar world leaded by the US, Russia and China. That’s the great danger of ideological views, they detach from reality and lead to one mistake after another. Will the neocons get any wiser?
RE: Salvador Berrnardo Hurtado on April 27, 2021 · at 10:01 pm EST/EDT
” It is as if the politicians in the so called “west” remained stuck in the 1990’s when they had a global hegemony,”
Knowledge is a function of testing hypotheses/questions, whilst “answers” are often a function of beliefs, including the beliefs/connotations inherent in definitions left undefined, including but not limited to – hegemony..
The opponents did believe that they had a global hegemony during the 1990 – (notions of full spectrum dominance and the end of history being just-in-case-that-is-not-the-case mantra to simultaneous dispel “evil/negative spirits whilst attempting to encourage positive thinking in others ) – whilst as has been the case throughout history in any lateral system no component has hegemony but momentary primacies with half-lives which can be used as vectors of transcendence.
The opponents’ beliefs in their own hegemony during the 1990’s facilitated the simultaneous ongoing processes of the transcendence of the “Soviet Union” by the Russian Federation, and the transcendence by the Russian Federation of “The United States of America”, defined as coercive social relations not limited to areas with Canada to the North and Mexico to the south..
The collective West has been living in fantasy land through much of its history although for convenience sake some limit the period framed as most useful in analysis from 1962 until 2021.
“That’s the great danger of ideological views, they detach from reality and lead to one mistake after another.”
Consequently some would render your sentence above as:
“That is one of the opportunities afforded by resort to ideological views by opponents, they detach from reality and lead to one opportunity after another – The American War as the Vietnamese refer to it being just one illustration – whilst others seek to “reform/return” the entity into a former fantasy land they believe once existed.
“whilst others seek to “reform/return” the entity into a former fantasy land they believe once existed.”
That was the purpose of Mr. Gorbachov and his associates from circa 1984 onwards to which even the contemporary head of the KGB and his associates felt aggreived, leaving some to deduce that the primary thing that is international is stupidity, which some seek to render more palatable by designating it as folly.
To facilitate the purposes of many, it is largely beneficial that the “Collective West is living in fantasy land”; Ms. Zhakarova like many is making an observation not a complaint, although when she and others were less experienced a level of complain remained in the mix, to which others who believe the entity is reformable and hence a process of transcendence is not necessary, assign their own interpretations.
She is absolutely right that the West – particularly US politicians especially if they are Democrats – are living in a fantasy land.
This is because they are not real people.
Most are drug addicts or one type or another and their minds are diverted with an array of things including corrupt payments from them being on the take in one form or another – aka the Clintons, Biden, Harris etc,,,
This is why the US and other western entities will collapse in the end.
Britain and the EU arent much better.
Boris and Marcon are just fools. And Merkel (like Hitler) is unwell and unfit to make decisions.

Katherine
Thank you for your kind words Katherine!
Cheers, WT
Katherine
I still believe that NS2 will NOT be completed
I do not think that Germany can resist to USA.
You may well be right.
Katherine
A genuinely nice lady, in her position is a one-off, and will never be president of Russia.
This woman will one day be President of Russia. Mark my words. She is being prepared for the job and is studying at the feet of vertuosi of diplomacy.
Maria Zhakarova will be Catherine the Great after Putin The Great.
Later…
her mentor is lavrov, her president is putin. she grew up under yeltsin. her becoming president, how could it be other wise?
This lady inspires awe with her encyclopaedic mastery of Russian foreign policy and that of its “partners”.
A true stateswoman, of similar calibre to Lavrov or Putin. She puts virtually all Western politicians to shame.
what a fantastic interview – Russians are so beyond the rest. Thanks Saker and translator – I read all the subs- they were great
The lady is impressive when she conducts briefings in English, but even more so when ranging freely in her native language. What a characterful and incisive virago……I think I am in love….everything she said was true…
A double blast, what does Russia want military prowess for, her fabulous looks and intelligence surely disarm the west into impotence at one glance and hearing.
Does this German guy know what hit him? He got a lot more than he bargained for. He just keeps blinking like a little dear caught in the headlights.
I wonder whose job was to pick him up off of his chair.
Maria features briefly in the ‘spokesperson’ section of my satire …
For those interested the link is … https://youtu.be/G7jfCcfxrYo
I fully agree with you. Maria is a noble woman Sym is not. more like what you say of her.
I did not mean to imply this, this point taken was the re-establishing of the Russian Empire as a popular idea, at this time, which she expressed. Her upbringing included perhaps far too much foreign life for her to take a heavy role, I think. Of course MS is not on the level of Maria Z.
Noi in Italia desideriamo un portavoce come Maria Zhakarova, un ministro degli esteri come Lavrov e un presidente come Putin. Grazie.
It’s very refreshing to see across the board attitude in Russia and China of “Cut the Bullsh*t”. Putin, Lavrov, Xi and now Zhakarova, not giving an inch.
The German interviewer did his best, but she shot back and shot down all his arguments.
It’s high time that the West show some humility.
After putin the Great, Maria Zhakarova the immense!
Good for Russia good for the world!
When Vladimir Putin retires as President of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, now aged 45, would be an ideal candidate for this position.
Maria gives a classic demonstration on how to use a very sharp scalpel to cut the Western arm off and then beat the West with the soggy end.
Wow. She is a very smart, and well-read spokesperson. She doesn’t have to look at notes. She knows her subjects and is very confident. I like her.
This woman is a force of nature! She is a role model for younger women and a treasure for the rest of us. What a terrific interview!
‘I am far too polite and professional to call Western politicians a bunch of ignorant f***wits, but there does seem to be a dawning emergence of insight in Western populations that, were I to express matters in such terms, that they might concede that I did indeed have a point….’
That woman is amazing!!! Brilliant, refined, articulate and attractive!
Also she has been on Rossiya 1 on Monday
The Queen of all National Press Secretaries makes this guy look like a Clown. No “Circling Back” like Psaki, another Clown just like this guy.

Reply to Salvador Berrnardo Hurtado
One can only hope they will become wiser in the fullness of time, for their own benefit..
Welcome to the 21st Century.

“This is why the US and other western entities will collapse in the end.”
Probably you are forgetting an old Beatles song
“…with the help of their friends”.
Her Facebook profile is interesting, and entertaining.
Tô the quote by Maria zhakarova: Yes they are. they absolutely are living in a fantasy.
