Elections in Russia: the turnout was good, the result a crushing victory for Putin’s party. There is exactly zero signs of a “Russian Maidan”. The popularity of Putin is as high as ever and much, much higher than the popularity of any western leader. The Putin-bashers everywhere have clearly failed to even have a marginal impact.
Fall session of the Duma: all the party leaders spoke and all agree that harboring any hopes for sane relations with the West is a waste of time; the consensus is now that Russia must 1) turn to the rest of the planet 2) accept the challenge to deal with a hostile and aggressive West 3) use this opportunity to disengage Russian from the western political, economic and financial system.
Banderastan: the Ukie and EU Parilaments signed an association agreement with great pomp, standing ovations and backslapping. Truly a historical moment indeed: the EU and Ukieland will now go to the bottom together. Great – they truly deserve each other. The amazing, paradoxical and, frankly, funny thing is that neither side can afford this partnership and that both the EU and Ukieland will suffer the negative consequences of this disastrous agreement.
I recently came across a really funny poem in Ukrainian written by the Ukrainian author and poet Oles Buzina which, I think, perfectly expresses the nature of what happened:
За що людськую кров лили?
За те щоб ціни повишали,
І знову плакали хохли.
За те щоб Крим, знов став московським
І щоб донбаським став Донбас.
За те, щоб долю України
Рішав в Європі підарас.
My (free) translation of this into English would be:
Why did they stand on the Maidan?
Why did they shed the people’s blood?
So that the prices would rise higher
So that the Ukies could cry again
So that Crimea would become Moscow’s
So that the Donbass would own itself
So that the Ukraine’s future
Would be decided by the Euro-homos
Novorussia: the special status offered by Poroshenko is not for Novorussia, but purely for NAF controlled territories. Besides, as the Novorussian leaders have correctly pointed out, the Ukie Rada has no authority to pass any rules in Novorussia. Conclusion: the the words of a senior Novorussian leader – this new law is just the basis for further negotiations, nothing more. Apparently, there is already a wave of panic in the usual “this is the end, Novorussia has been sold out, Putin is a traitor” mode (what else is new?). Guys, take a deep breath, wait a few days, and you will see this law for what it is: Ukie wishful thinking floating in a nauseous bubble of hot air.
[note: I have not seen the text of the status offered to Novorussia by Poroshenko. If you see it, please email me the link or post it here]
Military situation: the Ukie counter-offensive has still not started but I still consider it all but inevitable. Amazingly, the NAF has still not succeeded in stopping the JRF at the Donetsk Airport from shelling the city. Considering the human cost of letting these Nazis continue to murder civilians and the political costs of looking unable to finally get this airport under control, I cannot understand why the NAF seems to be unable to solve this problem.
I. Bezler |
Interesting promotion in Novorussia: Igor Bezler, the military commander of the strategically crucial city of Gorlovka (just north of the Donetsk-Debaltsevo line) has been awarded the rank of Major-General and appointed as the Head of the Intelligence Service of Novorussia. He is a rather mysterious and very controversial figure. It will be interesting to see the reactions to this nomination.
Economic situation: the Ruble is falling against the Dollar and the Euro, but the Russian Central Bank makes no effort to prevent that. Clearly, the Russians do not believe that this is more than a temporary phenomenon made worse by speculative selling.
My comments about Fedorov are eliciting some dismay. Sorry friends, I call it as I see it. So I would like to re-post here a comment I made yesterday: Fedorov and I probably agree on most goals and values, we are definitely on the “same side of the barricade”, but I cannot say that I am impressed by his analyses which I find superficial and, no offense intended, simplistic. He does a lot of good stuff, with the Duma for example, and I have nothing against him, but he is does have a tendency to go into a “panic mode” which I don’t like. Now, he is WAAAY better then Dugin, but both have this tendency to go “the house is burning! the house is burning!” when was it needed is slow, painstaking and meticulous daily work towards the goal. You might wonder whose analyses about the Ukraine I like most: Sergei Glazev’s. Nikolai Starikov is often also very good.
Paul Craig Roberts: some commentators have been very critical of him. Personally, I have a great deal of respect for him and I find his analyses very good. I have nothing bad to say about him and I can think of many extremely insightful articles by him.
The campaign to slander and discredit me: I think that it has petered out and failed. I am quite sure that those behind this campaign will try again, but for a while at least they are licking their (self-inflicted) wounds. My only message to my detractors who have in vain tried to slander me will be a quote from the Russian singer Boris Grebenshchikov who once wrote “”нет рук для чудес, кроме тех, что чисты” or “only clean hands can accomplish miracles”: this is why you will never accomplish anything.
Let’s not dwell on it any more, turn the page and move on.
Now, in conclusion, a few very important reminders and general comment about panic and hysterics:
First: what we are really dealing with is a US war on Russia. No, it is not waged with conventional military forces or, even less so, nuclear forces, it is waged by the use of the Ukrainian people. As they now say, the US will fight Russia down to the last Ukrainian. Sadly, this is quite literally true.
Second: really, there is no such thing as the Ukraine, or even Banderastan or Novorussia. These are (correct) political categories, but really, if we are really honest with ourselves, this is what we have: an occupied Ukraine and a liberated Ukraine. That’s it. This is really the core of what is taking place. And just as in WWII, the Ukraine is really only a battlefield for a move to Moscow.
art: Josetxo Ezcurra |
Third: just as Kutuzov could not “sell out” Smolensk or Stalin could not “sell out” Kiev, Putin cannot “sell out” Novorussia. Regardless of your assessment of Putin’s morality, values, ethics or goals, you cannot possibly believe that he is that stupid and that his entire entourage of advisors are that stupid. And even if Putin was that stupid, along with his advisors, he still cannot change the fundamental geostrategic reality that what is under attack is not the Ukraine, but Russia. I would add that Putin, Lavrov and many other top Russian political leaders have said many times that in Yugoslavia it was really Russia which was the target of the attack, just as it is Russia which is the real objective of the war in Syria.
Fourth: an almost constant panic mode bordering on hysteria is just not the right mode to *understand* this war, much less so wage it and win. I will gladly admit that I myself a guilty of this “sin”, but at least I am able to differentiate between my fears and my analyses. I would remind those who in Russia and in the West who are constantly predicting an apocalypse that none of their predictions (NATO attack on Russia, US nuclear attack on Russia, upheavals in Saint Petersburg, a Russian Maidan, the Ukie Nazis running over the Donbass, etc.) have materialized so far. Let me give one simple but extremely telling example: for many months I have been arguing that Russia was covertly helping Novorussia while my critics argued the contrary. My detractors were clamoring that Russia was standing by and doing nothing. Well, who was right? I am not saying that just to gloat or ridicule my opponents, but to make a very different point: I did not have access to any secret info and all I could do is use my knowledge and experience of Russian policies and methods and they told me, quite unequivocally, that Russia must be covertly helping. In contrast, my critics based their “analysis” on a mix of fear and words, statements, made by various officials. Now it is undeniable that they were wrong. Of course, they never admitted to that but they very gradually included the undeniable fact of Russian covert help into their more recent presentations. Fair enough, but I wish they would at least have learned their lesson. But no, they did not. They are still functioning in exactly the same mode, mistaking their fears and prejudices with facts and analyses. Thus my advice to all of you, my friends, is keep listening to these “prophets of imminent doom”, think about their arguments, but just remember that, so far, their record is quite telling: 100% wrong.
Quoting the “Iron Felix”:
There are very few people as evil and odious in history as Felix Derzhinsky, the human demon who created the Soviet secret police, the ChK. But, as the American say, “even a broken clock is right ever 12 hours” and, as Malcolm X liked to say “I am for truth, no matter who tells it”. Well, there is a great quote by Derzhinsky which I recommend we all keep in mind and try to live by: “Чекистом может быть лишь человек с холодной головой, горячим сердцем и чистыми руками” or “a Chekist can only be a person with a cool head, a hot heart and clean hands“. Of course, this was not at all how the real Chekists were, but the notion of a “cool head, hot heart and clean hands” is very good: a cool head to avoid panic, a hot heart to be truly dedicated and clean hands to never believe that it pragmatically is right to do something which is morally wrong.

US to attack Russia in 2015. Evgeny Fedorov
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0zRD-Ulv2s
This is the nearly two hour session with students Maria and Artyom. It’s mainly about the psychology of the current war, the nature of the fifth column in Russia and how momentum is building up to purge it (no, not by firing squad) before it can be used in a Usanian attack. Some new ideas, overall a great cohesion and Illustration of ideas and a lively presentation. Recommended.
The Guardian: two major geopolitical events: UA/EU treaty, Donbas ‘special status’ law – two agency press releases, no comments allowed.
That in itself is the essence of western ‘democratic’ neoliberal neofascism that purports moral superiority to the global southeast and the 99%.
Free Novorossia!
Nussiminem, I do like your ‘Euro-peon’ ‘You’re-A-Peon’ wheeze. As I seem to recall, Tiberius was moved to observe of the Roman Senators who voted him increased powers that they were ‘Men fit to be slaves!’. I judge it a good, and infrequent day when I meet anyone who knows anything about any problem of any consequence. The citizens of my failed state seem mesmerised by the MSM, obsessed only by sport, ‘celebrities'(God spare us!!)and greedy materialism. It can’t end well.
Just listening to that diabolical golem, Hanoi’s favourite stool-pigeon, John McInsane, urging a full blitzkrieg on Syria, as part of the ‘War on IS’. Hardly a surprise, but truly evil, as ever. These creatures are, in my opinion, emanations straight from Hell, the most evil vermin ever to scuttle upon the Earth.
The Rift:
I see a lot of people mention the right sector in Maidan Square protesting, but then it got me thinking.Could it just be the same as that Sheriff Joe who is always stalling and saying he can start a court case against Obummer, but never does, but as long as he keeps up the act, the people blissfully carry along thinking something is being done, but it never will.
(But in this case) Putsch Porkie’s right sector terrorists are keeping the people out of Maidan Square (and anywhere else in public) in the same manner. Therefore giving the impression that the people are not angry, perhaps he thinks sugar and oil will make them happy.
This whole peace plan bullshit needs to be nipped in the butt. Time to deal with the Bandernazi’s before more innocents are killed.
I, for one, would feel much better if Glazev replaced Euro-pidara Medvedev — at the soonest possible juncture.
Is it safe to say he is Putin’s number 1? I hope so. Maybe it’s time to make it official.
With Glazev in Medvedev’s position it would ensure the continuity of Putin’s Eurasianist legacy. I’ve noticed that trolls have been issued orders to demean him (Glazev) at every opportunity.
Zion dreads the thought that Glazev might eventually replace Putin. He is the one who ensures that any cost/benefit analysis, by Western assasins, remains fraught with unknowns.
It is likely that Mossad would NEVER consider assisting the US in any attempt to kill Putin, although accounting for individuals is more difficult. Since most assasinations are contracted to them, Mossad, it is likely that competing intel agencies couldn’t manage such a project ‘successfully’ without starting a nuclear war. I sincerely hope this scenario is a-way off the table for AZ decision makers but in the event that it isn’t, I think it’s safe to say the Russian Social Revolution will remain in good hands. We’re at that stage now and this is an important milestone.
One does not need to panic to admit that the “liberated” Donbass (not much) will not get much.
Hello Saker, an OT request to you and all.
Could someone kindly help with recommendations for reliable books.
So often I search for the “best book on…”, then research the recommendations and read the reviews. Only to find that when I get the book it’s highly slanted and unreliable.
Saker and commenters here know far more than I about history, and I would greatly appreciate your wisdom in directing me towards reliable books on these subjects:
1905 and 1917/18
Lenin
Stalin
The end of the Soviet era
A general history of Russia
The Yugoslavia break-up
Freemasonry.

Pravy Sektor Coup as ISIS Scenario: NATO to Feign a ‘Unilaterial’ Alliance With Russia
I love this blog and I come here almost every day for sitreps and more! It’s amazing but “okay i get it” that the Saker hasn’t run any of Jaquin Flores’s pieces. Fair enough, it’s his blog!
But so far, just about every forecast Flores has made has come to pass. Remember that only he and Cassad had the right line on the 5 July Slaviansk maneuver when it happened.
He’s made a lot of videos and had a firm handle on NATO’s long term goals going back to Jan. and Feb!
Now he has something yesterday out about a possible US backed Pravy Sektor covert ‘coup’. It’s modeled after Al Nusra, FSA, and ISIS.
He’s not throwing all his eggs in that basket, but I’m sure it need to be looked at.
If you can read Russian then you have already seen today where the first signs of this are already happening.
Spying on his FB I saw that Flores is frends with Pravy Sektor leadership, so who knows whats up with that?? But it leads me to think he knows stuff.
Also Alexander Dugin regularly likes his posts and they seem to know echother and work on same projects.

Back in the early Stone Ages Nicholas Risanovsky’s “A History of Russia” was the best around and I think it still is, many editions later.

PCR a friend of Cockburn??? Really? I see him as a limited-hang-out kind of guy, and reading his pieces has been satisfying bc he’s fairly high up and still seems to get it, but he’s almost always been urging Putin to do what, well, what the Empire wants him to. So ultimately a Putin-basher until the Protocol Papers got signed. I still read him though; I just see him as an official Gatekeeper of the Conversation.

Is your pessimism temporary or are you pretty much living there? I’m serious, not at all sardonic, bc I’m pretty much pegging my view of things on that Brazilian election and it’s not looking very good.

“Since the beginning of our work together, coordinate and send relief goods to the territory of war Donetsk and Lugansk national Republics, we are faced with the problem of delivery of aid collected by people in remote from the Russian border with Ukraine regions. The cost of sending goods collected for example somewhere in Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk often exceeded the value of these goods. The situation seemed hopeless.
First aid Russian humanitarian came transport company “KIT”. With an extensive logistics and warehousing network the company has provided its resources completely free of charge. Hundreds of tons of cargo today monthly delivered through the transport company “KIT” , Rostov-on-don, where are then sent to the war-torn city of Novorossia. We sincerely Express our gratitude to the company, which not only refused their profits but also took the brunt of the costs of shipping goods from other regions of Russia. Very pleased that in Russia so difficult for all of us the time arises socially-oriented business, which is not only focused on profit, but ready in case you need to lend a helping hand to all in need! In unity is strength and victory!…”

“Along with maybe 35 IQ points (and boyoboy, do I wish I were kidding about that).”
I had been wondering about that obvious IQ drop among western societies and finally, through painstaking observation and testing, came up with a theory to account for it.
Baseball caps.
Seems as soon as one is donned, their is an almost immediate 20 point drop (and an additional 5-10 if the cap is worn backwards). The point loss also seems to continue accumulating as long as the baseball cap is worn.
There are a couple things about this theory I still need to continue research on:
1) Is the IQ point loss permanent if the person ceases wearing the cap? And if only temporary, how long does it take to recover the lost intelligence?
2)Does what is written on the caps, or it being just a blank cap, in the amount of point loss and the rate such loss accumulates?
Note this IQ loss doesn’t seem to occur with other kinds of hats I’ve tested, with the exception of the bowler. I’ve only tested a few varieties so far, though.

Hi Saker, sometimes we talk about no importance things, compared with things much more serious as the upcoming Western attack on Assad.
The fucking Obama says he is going to bomb Syria and he seems to be the master of the universe, while Putin, quiet, a small insignificant rat.
The loss of Damascus will be a serious defeat for the Moscow’s strategic
interests, and Russia will prove not to be able to defend allies.
This time, the strategy of the rat will not work. Assad needs Russian troops, not jokes.
If the Kremlin will allow this infamy, then Putin is a fart.

“Can you please explain how Russia is the real objective in the war in Syria”
I can’t recommend this article strongly enough to all on this site. For me suddenly the light went on. It explains the significance of the threat to the US dollar posed by various countries (of course Americas favourite enemies such as Syria and Iran et al – all looking to trade outside the dollar). I didn’t have the full picture of how the US survival depends on their ability to control the world money supply. It suddenly makes complete sense of US foreign policy actions (and recent attacks on selected countries) and why they are apparently going mad.
Scary though because of the huge potential for war.
THIS IS A MUST READ ARTICLE. Hope you do- I will be interested to hear what you think?

CanSpeccy – ok, so Putin should just let Russia’s strategic interests get overwhelmed by USA’s agression..
Who said that? I said PC Roberts was offering bad advice when urging Russia to cut gas supplies to the EU. To do so would (a) cost Russia hundreds of millions of dollars a day in lost revenue, and (b) make enemies of countries such as Germany that desperately want to get out from under the control of the US and work constructively with Russia.
The fact that Putin has followed what I take to be the sensible course of ignoring Roberts’ wild advice seems to refute your position. Or are you calling Putin a traitor for not cutting Europe’s gas supply and and ruining Russia’s reputation as a reliable and responsible trade partner?

Today five field commanders signed up for their regiments to become units of the Army of Novorossia. Two of them – Bezler and Khodakovsky – are just as good as Mozgovoy, but far more publicity-shy.
Mozgovoy didn’t sign up yet, but I think that he (and almost all others) will. He seems a bit reluctant to give up his newly-found stardom and subordinate himself. It’s understandably tough, he recently said that he only started to fully live his life.
The new guy who will become the commander-in-chief is General Korsun. That’s surely not his real name. No pics of him could be found. In his only interview from couple weeks ago that one of my buddies was able to locate and translate for me, Gen. Korsun says all the right things, up to going all the way to Kiev. It’s my bet (judging by the suddenness of his appearance and supreme confidence) that he is Moscow’s point man. There is not an ounce of caution or moderation in him. He is a “war until total victory” character.
If Putin is starting to consolidate NAF’s field commanders under one roof, and the guy in charge says that Novorossians must not limit themselves to just two regions, that ought to mean three things:
1. Ukrainian Army is close to collapse, if not outright extinction.
2. Army of Novorossia is about to embark on the strategic offensive.
3. Russia is fully in, but every effort will be made to obfuscate its participation.
To those who believe that Putin betrayed Novorossia my advice is that it’s too early to make such a judgement.
What I see is Russia conducting an extremely secretive, complex, publicly ambiguous operation that is designed to confuse just about everybody, friend and foe alike.
Looks like they succeeded.
In short, nothing that is visible is what it seems to be.
It’s time to calm down, stop hyperventilating and let events to sort it all out. Or risk changing your opinion every few days and look like a fool.
I myself will go on record and predict Novorossia with Kharkov and Odessa – victorious and officially recognized by Kiev – by the end of next year.
PS. Russian strategic bombers practicing runs on USA’s West Coast, or its subs launching ICBMs during NATO’s meeting doesn’t strike me like even a hint of surrender on Kremlin’s part. But rather a warning to the West to keep away, or risk a global catastrophe.
@Can you please explain to me how Russia is the real objective in the war in Syria?
Russia is the real objective of all wars. It was defined by Sir Halford McKinder as far back as 1904:
“The basic notions of Mackinder’s doctrine involve considering the geography of the Earth as being divided into two sections: the World Island or Core, comprising Eurasia and Africa; and the Peripheral “islands”, including the Americas, Australia, Japan, the British Isles, and Oceania. Not only was the Periphery noticeably smaller than the World Island, it necessarily required much sea transport to function at the technological level of the World Island—which contained sufficient natural resources for a developed economy.
Mackinder posited that the industrial centers of the Periphery were necessarily located in widely separated locations. The World Island could send its navy to destroy each one of them in turn, and could locate its own industries in a region further inland than the Periphery (so they would have a longer struggle reaching them, and would face a well-stocked industrial bastion). Mackinder called this region the Heartland. It essentially comprised Central and Eastern Europe: Ukraine, Western Russia, and Mitteleuropa. The Heartland contained the grain reserves of Ukraine, and many other natural resources. Mackinder’s notion of geopolitics was summed up when he said:
‘Who rules Central and Eastern Europe commands the Heartland. Who rules the Heartland commands the World-Island. Who rules the World-Island commands the World’.
His doctrine was influential during the World Wars and the Cold War, as Germany and later Russia each made territorial strides toward the “Heartland” (Wikipedia)
The Middle East must become a base for the attack against Russia. Syria so far impedes the realization of this objective.

In the course of the rally, the radicals pushed deputy Vitaly Zhuravsky into a garbage container. Three men grabbed the official, and, even though he was saying that he was on duty, the men pushed the official into the container, shut the lid, and then left.
After the steady rise of enthusiasm for war in Ukraine voter polls through the summer, Ukrainian politicians in favour of the military campaign against Donetsk, Lugansk, and Russia, have suffered a dramatic loss of support across the country.

There’s no doubt all hell is going to break loose. And Putin has done a good job of buying time and avoiding heavy duty hostilities. But the time has come to take a stand in Ukraine and Syria. Russia’s diplomatic position and principles will remain consistent. However those positions will now have to be backed up with actual force, i.e., S400s in Syria and Iran, more support for Novorossia, and a clear statement from Russia that it will work to defend China, South America, etc. from imperialist aggression. The moment of decision has come. The 0 public information policy, the ‘capitalist’ period, the extreme passivity – all that has to end. The statement must be made flat out. Do this – and you will pay the price. Of course, that statement was made a long time ago in reference to Ukraine and Georgia – and ignored by the Nazi pigs of the west. But the time has come for strength. The rest of the world depends on Russia – Russia is our only hope – and even here in America.

Neither China nor South America have asked Russia to “defend them from imperialist aggression” so Russians won’t be issuing any statesments volunteering their services any time soon.

The people who have advice for Putin seem to have no ability to deal with the “demons” in their own country. So how can they advise others in matters in which they have no personal experience themselves?
In tonight’s episode of The Battle of Civilizations — Hillary Clinton takes on Vladimir Putin in…

In this case being a unilingual English speaker is a double whammy. You will unable to understand Putin while being forced to endure the Madonna-esque acting talents of Ms. Billary.
To all those Putin bashers living in the West, this is how you lead a great nation. Stop whinning that Putin isn’t doing enough to liberate you from your own foolish choices. See the body language and know that YOU let people like Clinton, Hollande, Harper, Cameron, Rasmussen, etc. to infinity, take control of your destiny.
Putin isn’t coming to rescue you so get off your ass.

This is so bizarre, beyond anything I have seen from them yet.
I am not one of those individuals with sufficient free time at the moment to dig into the text of this agreement, but I can say the anger at it from the usual Svoboda Party Nazis like Katerina Kryk is instructive:
https://twitter.com/Kateryna_Kruk/status/511814277330907136
It looks like Ukraine basically pretends it still has sovereignty over LNR/DNR, while Donetsk and Lugansk have de facto sovereignty limited principally by their economic lifeline to Russia and landlocked status after not taking Mariupol, rather than Kiev’s meddling. And while they insist this was the same deal Poroshenko offered in April at the start of the ‘ATO’, in reality it was not — Porky then was following the ‘promise them everything and hang them later’ policy whereas today it is the Ukie ultranationalists and Nazis who have been promised quasi-status quo ante bellum only to realize as Kryk does that Ukraine has surrendered Donetsk and Lugansk forever.
The Ukie Nazis can go on fantasizing about a coup toppling Poroshenko and then launching a renewed offensive towards Donetsk, Lugansk or even Crimea — just as some on our side still dream of a ‘to Kiev’ or at least rolling the tanks into Kharkov ‘solution’. But the cold hard reality of Ukraine’s shriveling economy and desperate cash situation would mitigate against that, as the onset of winter and the need for men to be back near home and hearth to repair the damage left behind by the Ukies limits the potential for a successful Novorossiya offensive (not to mention all of the hardware the Ukies are now receiving from NATO countries or that will be ‘left behind’ when NATO troops depart following this exercise).
Even Nazis need money and the original Nazis recall got plenty of foreign investment and cheap loans from England and the USA during the 1930s to prop things up.
Fron now on I’m assuming everyone who isn’t Nora is a troll.
The new crop of graduates from Hasbara U are much better than they used to be. Practically you will be nodding your head in agreement with everything they say till the last line where they casually mention Putin is weak — Putin has lost — Putin is a traitor — Putin makes me hor-nee.
Meanwhile doctors and psychiatrists across America are reporting a sudden surge in the number of self identified Republicans seeking to be cured of their longing for a man like Vladimir Vladimirovic. In a secret poll 83% of well bred Anglo Misses and a whopping 94% of Log Cabin Republicans admitted to imagining a “hook-up” with the shirtless horse riding Russian Czar.
Amongst Democrats, almost 74% claimed to have had a similar fantasy displacing former favourite Barack Obama and proving once and for all that once you go black you can indeed actually go back.

In fact, he’s doing nothing at all, methinks.

Regarding comments on Paul Craig Roberts. It seems to me there is a campaign to discredit him – quite an aggressive campaign.
You can tell which journalists are working for or with the feds by the content of their writing. Whether you agree with all his conclusions or not, he unfailingly tells the truth and writes with absolute regard for common people. That should tell you something.
Many journalists I previously admired in the alternative press, such as Amy Goodman and Thom Hartmann, appear now to be working to disseminate and maintain the official version of events. Writers on the American left appear to be shilling for the neocons – sometimes with subtlety, but with unmistakable dishonesty. How do I know? They are not telling the truth. These are not stupid people. They have access to the same information we have. They did a much better job in past years (or so I thought) of informing the public. Something has changed in their news reporting.
Journalists should be judged by their avoidance or presentation of truth. Do they tell the truth? That is all you can really know. The rest of these assertions and questions about Dr. Roberts are nothing but speculation and overreach – and not to mention frankly curious in and of themselves.

You are absolutely right. I found exactly the same to be true, but the praise from the ignoramuses is compensating for the lack of depth.

“Can you please explain to me how Russia is the real objective in the war in Syria?”
You can find a good analysis here (albeit poorly translated):
The New American Plot Against Russia and IranBy Vladimir Alekseev, special for Iran. Ru
“…because of the fact that without Iran, Iraq and Syria is impossible to create a viable alternative to the project “South Stream”. A pro-US opportunities dwarf the emirate of Qatar LNG is not enough even for a considerable decrease in the price of Russian gas to the EU. Another thing – the eruption of Iranian gas to Europe with its largest field “South Pars” and start gas exports from Iraq, which is scheduled for 2016.”
@ CanSpeccy,
Q: If Russia were to follow Roberts’ advice it would turn her largest customer into a wounded and infuriated enemy. In fact, Roberts looks very much like a tool of the US State Department in its effort to drive the EU to war with Russia.
R: You kick a bully in the nuts, smack him around a little and then you bring him down, so he listens the next time you say, “Stop or don’t do it.”
Mr. Putin has been extremely patient with a tantrum-throwing, pampers-chomping, attention-derived western world.
The time for niceties is over [or do you applaud all those sanctions against the Russian state?], gloves off and open up to the rest of the world.
I thought the ‘homo’ insult at the end of the otherwise perceptive poem was a bit much really.

It seems more compatable with firefox and you might have to copy a dll to the proper place. Read the FDM forums on where that is since it seems to change with new versions of firefox..
Hey its free and I use it for downloading regular files for a long time. It is supposed to work with many streaming video sites. There are better ones but you got to pay money for them. I tried some of the browser addons but they lose the link once you close the page.

When we were kids we played with dolls and stuffed toys. The girls had Barbie and My Little Pony and the guys had GI Joe, Action Man and Transformers.
Now we are grown up but some people still play with dolls.
Personally I try, unsuccessfully, to avoid using words such as ‘he must’ or ‘she should’ because they go right back to childhood and playing with dolls.
Among some others my purpose is to understand and explore, I know that nobody important will read what I write, much less follow any guidance I might mistakenly post.
As a rough rule of thumb, I tend to devalue or ignore articles and posts that are trying to advise those with whom they have no connection.
BOT TAK, when I started at university, in the very first lecture – more an orientation session than anything – the head of the school pointed out the students wearing baseball caps and suggested that, if we wanted to do well at university, students should not work with those wearing such headgear because they were worn only by the lazy and unintelligent. More than that he noted that, if we had no choice in the matter for some reason, then we should particularly avoid those with a reversed cap as these indicated an even more extreme version of the disability.
His advice proved to be valid over the years.
His name for baseball caps was ‘IQ Reducers’. I’d not argue with that as an accurate description.

Nora, I’ve been a pessimist since childhood, but not pessimistic enough! The world is ruled by evil monsters, and how to be rid of them before they destroy us all has bothered me all my life. To make matters worse, the monsters are growing more stupid, vicious, greedy and self-deluded by the day. If you want an example of what I mean, read that reptile Tim Garton-Ash in today’s ‘The Guardian’, a shit-rag that qualifies as ‘liberal’ in the mad, bad an dangerous to know West these days.
RE: You can tell which journalists are working for or with the feds by the content of their writing.
BINGO!!! DINK DINK DINK!!!
This why I think the US empire is on the ropes without much time since they have even brought out the kitchen sink. But it also let us know that most all western blogs, news-sources and reporters are compromised. Places I read for decades and thought were decent turned out to be shills in subtle ways trying to manipulate stories to bias our views. You dont do this unless you were told to do it and you dont compromise your sources unless it is a desperate move.
I dont agree with everything Paul Craig Roberts says but there are things Russia can do without just cutting off supplies. Demand Gold or Rubbles as payments. Blow up a few pipelines which should be really easy with what all is going on in Ukraine. Which alone would raise prices. Actually move armed forces into defensive postures all across the western front and start ranting about NATO attack is imminent and we are prepared. Anything NATO does including passing wind should be followed by loud yelling about seeing NATO nuclear missiles and armored units being moved to the outskirts of Moscow for a first strike.
It is what Nato is doing! And Russia trying to appear reasonable would make Russia seem weak and scared. Be a bull frog and puff up. All the major wars started because one side thought the other was weak and scared. Yea its bad for business but for months now we knew what was coming. And nothing has changed no matter what and this is how Japan was forced to attack the USA in WW2. By that time they were so weak that they could not attack everyone else rather than the USA because they would not have been able to defend against the US at the time and thought a first strike would cause an armistice and time enough to consolidate enough for a decent peace treaty like had with the USSR.
Change posture to Nato placing missile defenses around Russia is a declaration of war against the Russian Federation. Dont be subtle about it. Add primary enemies as the US and Nato. If the last 200 years have shown us is, being meek and accepting means shock and awe. It just might save billions of lives.

jo6pac,
Wow. I’m still trying to get my mind around that; it just seems so totally incongruous. And obviously speaks well about both of them.
In trying to understand PCR better though, I’m thinking maybe he’s far-sighted, historically-speaking: a way better grasp of things that *did* happen, as opposed to *are happening*. He seems to get so much, but then his suggestions for Putin still end up redolent of Old School CIA-dom. It’s either a personal limitation, or an institutional one. I obviously read him and I like him: he pulls a lot of stuff together quite nicely and there aren’t too many people out there at his level willing to say any of it out loud.
Besides, trolls notwithstanding, who wants to live in a world where the only things you read are those you already agree with 100%? You can see right here on this blog what happens to brains when they’re hermetically-sealed and not a breath of reality can come in, and you can sure see it everywhere else in the good old US of A. People work out their bodies, they need to take their brains out for a walk every once and a while too, instead of just screaming “Noooooo!” every time they bump into a fact that doesn’t fir with their preconceived notions, or thinking an utterly unsubstantiated assumption *is* a fact simply bc they agree with it.
Where-Wolf,
Thank you, my dear! ;~) I kinda think there may be one or two other folks around too, though… But yes, the air gets pretty thick here sometimes.
Just over ten days ago, as the pro-independence forces in east Ukraine were on the march with significant gains on the battlefield, a ceasefire was signed in Minsk, Belarus. According to the terms of the ceasefire, the pro-independence fighters were to lay down their arms, cease their offensive to regain lost territory in the Donetsk and Lugansk region, and disband.
In exchange for this, the US-backed government in Kiev was to agree to an amnesty for pro-independence fighters, commit to economic development in the east, and agree to enshrine decentralization in law to provide autonomy to the east.
Most importantly, the ceasefire was to stop the Kiev government’s shelling of major population centers in the east and stop the slaughter of military forces on both sides.
It turns out to be a grotesque sleight of hand, with Kiev receiving guarantees at the September 5, NATO summit in Wales that NATO members would provide the military equipment to finish the pro-independence forces in the east after the ceasefire gave time to re-group a badly beaten, largely conscript Ukrainian army.
This grand deception came to light yesterday, as Valery Heletey, defense minister of the US-backed regime in Kiev, bragged that, as Reuters put it:
NATO countries were delivering weapons to his country to equip it to fight pro-Russian separatists and “stop” Russian President Vladimir Putin.
We are already seeing the result of this bait and switch, as yesterday saw a dramatic resumption of the US-backed government’s shelling civilian Donetsk, which is under control of the pro-independence movement.
The ceasefire provided pro-US Kiev forces time to regroup and absorb NATO weapons under the guise of stopping the violence, with the intent of slaughtering rather than negotiating with the pro-independence forces. This is no great surprise, as the February coup itself proceeded with US cooperation just as a compromise power-sharing agreement between the elected president, Yanukovich, and the Maidan rebels was signed.
It remains a great mystery why the pro-independence forces would strike a deal with a Kiev regime which came to power as a result of a US and EU sponsored coup in February, and whose veracity and track record of fair play is rather wanting.
A greater mystery perhaps, is why a Russia that was accused of “invading” Ukraine as the NATO summit kicked off, would agree to the decapitation of a Moscow-friendly independence movement next-door as it consolidated its gains.
Whatever the case, the bloodshed in eastern Ukraine is about to resume. The pro-US regime in Kiev, by deception, is about to claim bloody victory from the jaws of defeat.z

Anonymous 06:26,
Real life is not black and white. It’s quite possible for PCR — and every other person on the planet, including you — to be right on some things and wrong about others. Americans have been quite conveniently brainwashed into two opposing teams, and carefully taught not to think, just swallow whole all the bad stuff about the other team while genuinely — and quite foolishly — believing everything their team does is superplusultramajorgood. Nonsense! That’s fine for a four-year-old: it’s absurd for an adult.
And no, just bc you don’t *like* something does not at all mean it’s not true. It simply means you don’t like it.
Please try and understand that the real world is loaded with complexities: the very same person can be quite correct on some things and quite off the wall on others. A thinking adult can handle that. A brainwashed bot… can’t.

Then why are you here?

It is hard for me to tell whether you two are serious or kidding but, what the hell, I will confess to you that ever since I came to the USA I have been convinced that there is an directly link between baseball hats and IQs. In fact, I think these baseball hats are a “tribal recognition sign”. For example, in Florida, the following are almost mandatory for anybody with a low IQ:
a) pitbull dog (always introduced as “so nice and so kind”
b) tattoos
c) pick up truck instead of normal car even though you do not need a truck at all
d) American flags (even better if combined with POW and Confederate flags)
e) warnings (on cars or fences) about guns
the following are not mandatory, but certainly add a lot of punch to the message:
f) Harley-Davidson bike
g) a sign with “In Loving Memory of” on the back of your truck’s rear window (never on a car)
h) a 9/11 “terrorist hunting permit”
i) an-anti Obama sticker on your truck (high IQ Obama-haters don’t have the sticker)
The sight that really “scares” me is a truck with a male driver wearing a baseball hat, a pitbull either in the back of his truck or staring out the window, with a US flags, the “In Loving Memory” decal on his rear window and a “this car insured by S&W” for example. Unfailingly, the follow is true about this creature’s driving:
j) on a one lane roads drives 5-10 miles under the speed limit
k) on a two lane roads always drives on the left lane (preferably next to another car to prevent passing
l) on red lights starts late and slow and gets really angry if you pass him
m) always immediately accelerates if you put your blinker to show your intend of passing
the following get’s him extra bonus points:
n) a gunrack
o) assorted garbage in the back of the truck
p) huge wheels and an ridiculously elevated truck body
r) smoking while driving
But that is Florida specific. The only US-wide IQ reducer must be the baseball hat, I agree. This is also the best way to spot a US tourist abroad.
I had no idea somebody else had noticed :-)
Cheers,
The Saker

re: Baseball Caps:
I do agree up to a point. It is usually the jock type sports fans wearing them, who ALREADY have a kid’s mentality though are also incurious, ignorant, rah-rah go-team-go simple folk. Easily lied to, and easily led. The hat just makes them more easily identifiable.
There are also those who wear them to be fashionable. $40 throwback hats with the tags//labels on them still for some odd reason – i.e, the hip-hop crowd.
And some of us, like me, wear one to cover our encroaching baldness when it rains (I have a black hat with SPETSNAZ stitched on the front in olive green, in Russian).
I can’t seem to find a hat that doesn’t either
a) make me look like an old man – like a fedora
b) make me look like a weirdo – like a beret

Mulga Mumblebrain the first people the Europeans exterminated… Their belief’s were so beautiful, hence why they were so easily defeated.
It involved worship of the earth, which is personified as a mother goddess; they honored the mother goddess to ensure their crops and their own well-being. The pantheon of gods included a storm-god, a sun-goddess and a number of other elemental gods. Their religion was based on the principal ideas of the old Near East: that everything in nature and the cosmos was alive and was penetrated by divine forces. This concerned the visible world of the people, like the sky and the stars, the earth, vegetation, animals, rocks, mountains, rivers and springs; but also the atmospheric signs, like storms, thunder, lighting, rain, and their consequences like fertility and dryness. In such a religion, the powers of the universe and the phenomena of nature are conscious living identities, acting by themselves: they are gods. Each object contains non-visible natural powers, which belong to the whole universe. Each of these natural powers are admitted in the great divine phenomena of a cult. In early times the distance between man and the divine supernatural powers was very large. Man had a strong belief in the oneness and the interaction between everything that existed and was alive. With promises and gifts man tried to get protection and prosperity. “Do ut Des”, I give with the purpose that you will give, is the foundation of the prayers and offers to the Gods. Often there was a belief in a life after death. The gods are immortal, but the gods need food and beverages, and like humans, gods can be jealous, angry, revengeful, but also friendly, helpful or generous. Like humans, gods cannot be only good or only evil. So humans try to be on good terms with the gods via cultic rituals. The concept of the earth-bound deity was deeply rooted in the indigenous consciousness from prehistoric times. Pictorial and written sources show that the deity of paramount importance to the inhabitants. Many gods are connected with the earth and water.
After the Late Bronze Age collapse, they moved to the rest of Europe, Iran, India and created the caste system in India, probably because the indigenous Indian population were far more advanced farmers who would run away into the jungles rather than stay and die but their cities were destroyed as seen in the Indus valley civilization (Here is where Gold became so important in India) and when you dont find a caste system that means the indigenous population have been exterminated after all, exceptional people wont accept others no matter how much more advanced as equals.
Looks like they have not stopped exterminating people for the last 4000 or so years. Sanskrit and Lithuanian are closely related. If so then the foaming at the mouth about Nato bases and the whining and crying wolf temper tantrums makes a lot of sense while the influence of the indigenous Indians moderated the ones in the sub continent. That last dark ages lasted almost a 1000 years and the one after that in the middle ages over 200 years. How many years this time?

Common Core has many serious flaws. To name one example, it has eliminated teaching of the US constitution.
The right is not wrong in believing that an educational program coming from the feds will not be aimed at enlightening us – intellectually or otherwise. These are the same lunatics who are supporting Kiev, remember? Elevating humanity is not part of their agenda.
About snopes.com. I have seen questionable work coming from them before. I hope that story is a fake, but so many bizarre things are going on in US public schools now that I can’t be certain.
And, yes, Common Core also contains instructions to teach very inappropriate sexual material to children beginning at a young age. This is a fact. It is going now. I have seen Common Core documents that substantiate this.
Try reading Common Core curriculum. That would be a useful exercise.
RT is producing a documentary on Zero Tolerance policies at American public schools. It will be worth watching. American school children are being carted away and handcuffed for the most bizarre reasons. I read a story two days ago of a teenage girl who was just suspended for 7 months (a senior, who will not now be able to graduate) because she left a diary at school, which a school official picked up and read, and in it she mentioned having experimented with marijuana. So they threw her out.
A bizarre level of insanity is creeping over the culture. My personal belief is it is the result of changes pushed by the feds, like so much else (such as the growing levels of police violence and impunity.)
The American left view of the world, which now includes believing that critique of the American government borders on paranoia, has become deranged. They also believe that Russia has invaded Ukraine…
I counted myself among them for many decades, by the way. To know the truth in America now you cannot take sides and must listen carefully to what both sides are saying.
Do you read articles from the American left now regarding Russia? It is all propaganda. On the other hand, Libertarian websites, at least, which are read by many conservatives, are writing the truth about the situation. We must be very careful in sterotyping people. Many of those idiots in baseball caps are reading the truth now, while my smug (useful idiots) New York Times loving friends are steeped in nonsense. So who is smarter? Those who think they are smarter and believe lies or those without pretenses who can recognize truth?
By the way, fact checking websites in the US tend to support the government agenda. Everyone is a conspiracy theorist as far as they are concerned. I have never read one I trust.
Dutch news reports that Ukraine is doing ‘a purge’, Ukranian parliament signed a law including corruption check of all officials and replacing them, to root out all corruption from the Yanukovitsch era.
I don’t see this in any other media, no idea if it’s true.

There are a couple around where I am who have full sized American and Confederate flags mounted on poles attached to the bed. :D
