Does anyone know the extent of Zakharchenko’s injury? It was a standard rifle round 7.62, hit his lower leg or ankle. Must have been a damage to a bone or bones. He can barely stand, so he is not nearly healed.

These leaders are charismatic, heroic and just regular guys before this all broke out. Yes, they had military backgrounds, but obviously never thought they’d be career soldiers. In fact, if they were, they would have been in the Ukraine military. Only Bezler was Ukie army out of all the leaders.

I wonder if the Lugansk army had a similar ceremony. They performed very well at the cauldron, even the Cossacks who had several bad raps in the past did very well this time.

They did some kind of surgery; his first hospital interview shows him groggy from anaesthetic and on IV drips. He limped out on his own to go home, then slept for 3 days, according to the next interview. He’s getting better.

Lugansk had similar ceremonies, yes. It is the regular day for doing so — honour the old heroes and pin medals on the latest batch.

The cooperation between the two armies was excellent. They have fought together before.

I haven’t heard more, but when I was 19 I busted my shinbone. Because of poor circulation in the area, the hardness of the bone, and all the weight on it, it took over nine months to heal enough to get the cast off — and the orthopedist surgeon bent it back to straighten it once because it had bent out of shape after doing a lot of walking on it (and playing some badminton while in a walking cast — which broke a few times in the course of healing) while the bone was still too soft.
This could take a while to heal completely.

Do they have an equivalent of a Purple Heart for him (and Motorola) — wounded under fire?

      • Penelope on February 26, 2015  ·  at 2:21 pm EST/EDT

Mine was treated w a pin internal to the femur the full-length of the femur. It healed entirely in 5 weeks, stronger than the surrounding bone. But I was only 28 and used crutches to put NO weight on it as instructed.

        • Blue on February 26, 2015  ·  at 3:41 pm EST/EDT

Quick check on web at one site:
          http://www.doctorsecrets.com/your-bones/broken-bone/time-to-heal-broken-bone.htm

          Upper leg (femur) 12 weeks
          Knee (patella) 4-6 weeks
          Lower leg (tibia,fibula)10-24 weeks
          Ankle 6 weeks
          Foot 3 – 12 weeks

So it depends on where and how his injury was — and how complete the healing is that one talks about.
My fracture was compound — maybe being shot is similar,. and surgery also takes it longer to heal.
But I’ll guess he won’t be playing badminton, which should help.

In any case, his job doesn’t include a lot of physical stress, and especially now that the combat has calmed down a bit, so it shouldn’t slow him down much. The big task right now likely involves a lot with the economy and social services, and refining the governmental structures and functions. They should have some phone calls or conferences with people like Randy Wray and Michael Hudson, and work out some arrangements with Russia, China, and maybe the other BRICS. If west Ukraine collapses they could have a lot of refugees streaming in, which would complicate matters.

NATO uses the 7.62 x 51 as opposed to the 7.62 x 39, which is the AK round. The 7.62 x 51 (.308) generally has a heavier bullet and is therefore able to deliver more energy (and thus more damage) to the target.

NATO is sticking its big toe into Ukraine. Time for the militia to put a 50 caliber round into that toe.

Bodybag the Brussels relief corps. Send them back to Europe in body bags.

It is clear the Ukies can’t field a competent military. The next round will be totally led by NATO. Not that they did well in the cauldron last week. They were the first to exit the fight.

700 on buses meant for citizens. That’s NATO. Can’t win on the ground anywhere on the planet.

The man is highly respected by his former soldiers. That’s about it for his military career. Some day, they’ll bring him back for a special ceremony if he doesn’t get himself rubbed out on the streets of Moscow. He talks too much and all of it creates problems.

Thanks for posting this touching event which affects so many. War brings out the best and worst. We should not have war at all. Its roots go deep into our past. This one is but one leaf on that evil tree. There is a reason for it which can be uncovered. But oh what a snake pit we find when we seek causes. Most would not touch that personal cauldron with a ten foot pole. No wonder angels do not take human bodies; they fear to tread where humans go. More at thelovegovernment.com.

This is going to be treated by the West as a major escalation, because it de facto recognises Donbass as a separate entity:

    http://rt.com/politics/233743-russia-ukraine-heating-medvedev/
PM Medvedev orders commencement of gas deliveries to embattled Donbass
    February 19, 2015

Russia’s prime minister has ordered the Energy Ministry and state-owned corporation Gazprom to prepare for natural gas deliveries to the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk Republics after the Kiev regime stopped selling fuel to the regions.

“There is a problem related to natural gas deliveries, caused by the decision of Ukrainian authorities that has not yet been canceled. The situation is that natural gas is not delivered to a number of settlements,” Dmitry Medvedev told ministers at a cabinet meeting on Thursday.

“I would like the Energy Ministry and Gazprom to prepare their suggestions on rendering aid to these regions in the form of natural gas supplies. Of course this will be needed only if Kiev does not take urgent measures to resume gas supplies under the usual scheme.”

“In any case, people must not freeze there. Prepare the necessary suggestions and report on what is done,” Medvedev said.

Medvedev’s press secretary Natalya Timakova told Interfax that Gazprom would send natural gas to Donetsk and Lugansk “on a commercial basis,” but noted that the sources of financing were yet to be determined. The agency also quoted an unnamed source “acquainted with the situation” as saying that the possible scheme could include a bank credit.

Earlier, representatives from Donetsk and Lugansk told reporters that the natural gas supplies to the regions had been stopped without warning and that existing reserves would only last for less than a day in subzero temperatures.

Ukrainian PM Arseny Yatsenyuk announced an energy blockade to the southeastern regions in a press statement on Wednesday. He ordered the cessation of deliveries of natural gas and electricity in a unilateral step.

The prime minister of the unrecognized Lugansk People’s Republic, Gennady Tsipkalov, told Interfax that since the Ukrainian side was not commenting on the gas cutoff there was little hope that supplies would be resumed anytime soon.

“They deliberately aggravate the situation, step up the political and economic pressure. They did it now, when outdoor temperatures dropped and gas consumption in our regions increased,” he added.

Tsipkalov also noted that Lugansk authorities could potentially cut off the natural gas flow to the districts of the republics that are currently controlled by the pro-Kiev military, but chose not to do so in order not to adversely affect civilians.

“We will not do the same out of malice and hatred. We have had enough of all this.”

Also on Thursday, head of Russian Emergencies Ministry Vladimir Puchkov told reporters that another convoy of trucks with humanitarian aid was starting for the southeast of Ukraine in the nearest hours. The deliveries include medical supplies and food.

    Ukraine Enters The Endgame

Back in March 2014 we forecast that it in the aftermath of the US State Department-sponsored military coup in Kiev, it was only a matter of time before Ukraine (all of its sovereign gold having since “vaporized”) succumbed to full blown hyperinflation and economic implosion. Less than a year later, precisely this outcome has finally played out, and as a result, the entire nation has finally entered its economic endgame, one which has two conclusion: either it joins Greece in becoming a ward of Europe (of which it is not an official member) and the IMF (thank you Joe Q Public taxpayer), or it quietly fades away into insolvent “failed state” status.

One can argue, nevertheless, that by having set de facto a frontier between Kiev-occupied territories and freed ones, the Kiev junta has implicitly put things this way, and Russia simply acknowledges it; in my opinion autonomous gas deliveries do not imply any acknowledgment of sovereignity, only of autonomy — which Kiev junta has already done.

      • Palloy on February 26, 2015  ·  at 10:07 pm EST/EDT

Yes, it seems quite reasonable from the Russian point of view, but I doubt that Kiev, Washington and Brussels will see it that way.

When I see this video on Pantsyr (beautiful, with that music and that light) I have the same feeling when I hear Mozgovoi, Givi, Sailor, or any of the other lesser known among the ranks of the NAF men, I love humility and simplicity of these people and I have the impression that they have both feet firmly planted on the ground they walk on. I see that prevails in them a sense of community and the importance of teamwork, undoubtedly legacy of the Soviet past, and will be, along with the heroic nature to overcome the suffering and sacrifice for the common good, which save them.

Listen to Pantsyr describe working with the tanks with those dreamy eyes, is like listening make war poetry.
I once read somewhere that the Russians are very fond of poetry, but after having met all these people I would say that in the soul of every Russian, every good Russian, you can find a poet.

When here in the west, in the old Europe, there are increasingly fewer place to express any feeling, any sensation, when everyone flees to the suffering of others as if it were an obscenity, having met all these Russians makes me keep the faith in humans.

Thank you, friends. Never forget you.

These are truly brave men who are willing to face up to evil and lut their lives on the line to defend their country and values from the evil axis of the west.
I was reading through the readers comments section in the Guardian yesterday under the story they carried of Camoron sending 75 “advisors” to train the Ukie junta forces and I couldnt help but be struck by the number of comments I read suggesting the politicians were unwittingly blundering into yet another disaster such as “oh when will our politicians ever learn”, etc.
Aarrghh!!!! Wake up citizens and smell the coffee for f*cks sake. There are many people out there who for some reason or other simply cannot or dont want to acknowledge what murderous pyschopaths are now in charge of western governments in particular the governments of America and the UK. Does it give them some sort of satisfaction to imagine their politicians as benign and woolly individuals whose intentions are ultimately good but these intentions somehow get lost in translating to actual deeds ?
These scumbags know exactly what they are doing and what effect their actions have on the ground that is their exact goal. Lets say just for the sake of argument the invasion of Iraq and its subsequent disintegratiln was a “mistake”. We have seen from the handwringing of the culprits and their various procrastinations and attempts to distance themselves from the mess they created that it was a blunder of enormous magnitude, but they still went and did the same thing to Libya , are doing it to Syria at the moment and have now moved onto Ukraine. Who wants to bet that if it had been any other country but Russia the Donbass would have been bombed to dust by NATO planes by now?
Our so called “elected representatives” know exactly what it is they are doing and nothing about their actions is either accidental or backed by “good intentions” because they are evil and pyschopathic murderers who no longer represent us but rather represent US multinationals and global banking a d are more than willing to send us to go and die for the hegemony of the US dollar.
Wake up citizens of Europe before its too late to do anything about it. You still think whats happening in the Donbass cant come to the streets of Berlin or London ? Dont wait for your neighbourhood to become the next Debaltsevo before taking action because then it will be too late, because that is what these bastards are ultimately aiming for.

PS. Sorry for the typos but I posted this using my mobile and its a bit difficult to write on it.

“Does it give them some sort of satisfaction to imagine their politicians as benign and woolly individuals whose intentions are ultimately good but these intentions somehow get lost in translating to actual deeds?”

Of course it does! By believing this nonsense, they can go on waiting for ‘hope and change’, assuming that the next prez or PM will come to his/her senses and put a stop to all of this. And when that next prez/PM fails to do this, they will consider it another ‘blunder’. So many people in the west have basically succumbed to a kind of Stockholm Syndrom, constantly making excuses for rulers/captors.

The detailed discussion of how these brave young men are recovering from wounds made me wonder if anyone at The Saker might know about the condition of another victim of Kiev’s senseless civil war in east Ukraine?

She was highlighted in an RT article last August (I’ll provide a link below) in which it was explained that she and her teenage friends had been targeted in a Ukrainian rocket barrage while swimming at a popular beach not far from Donetsk. Several were killed, and this young woman was seriously injured in her legs, arm and side. A video allowed her to tell in her own words what happened to her. It was deeply moving to hear one so young speak about such a tragedy so calmly, clearly and uncomplainingly.

I have often thought about her since then. It would be wonderful to learn her recovery is progressing well. If you do know anything in this regard, please give me a reply.

Then 2/3 Greek Defense MinisterKammenos announced he’d been invited to Moscow to meet w Shoigu. Now this comment transcribed from a Joaquin Flores video:

“The determining factor is to what extent the Greek military security, intelligence networks, are able to have several complex programs running simultaneously which allows Greeks to make sovereign decisions.
The econ platform is not the answer; that was to attract moderates, not frighten them off.
Real issue is: Is Greece acting as a transmission belt that doesn’t play a polarizing role that will separate itself from Europe, but rather what we’ll see– if there’s going to be a solution for Greece– is to what extent it can maintain itself w/in Europe but repesent as well the multipolar or Eurasianist thread which seeks to unhinge Europe to prevent it from being a primarily NATO – dominated econ union.”

Another masterpiece from John Pilger, covering Ukraine and much else: The rise of fascism is again the issue:

Fascism is preserved as history, as flickering footage of goose-stepping blackshirts, their criminality terrible and clear. Yet in the same liberal societies whose war-making elites urge us never to forget, the accelerating danger of a modern kind of fascism is suppressed; for it is their fascism.

As I have said before, I’m with Russia and Novorussia on this one.
The Russian Federation is not the agressive russian empire or Soviet empire of yesterday. Russia is being encircled and also attacked by fifth columnists from within(‘NGO”s, etc).
Any country which tries to remain sovereign, be it Russia, China, Iran or Venezuela, is attacked and destabilized.
As a matter of fact, a sort of wet dream i have, would be to see the zamerican fools get involved in a conventional war with Russia – I know it won’t happen, and if it does, nukes will be next step – and get their asses kicked. Zamericans are so bloody overrated when it comes to military matters.
Anyway, I feel sorry for the people on both sides of this conflict, the ukranians are also victims, their nationalism and old grudges beign used by the Neocons to attack and weaken Russia indirectly.
From studying the conflict, it seems most fighters on both sides are locals but both sides are using foreigners too. I’ve seen chechens fighting for both Novorussia as well as Ukraine. Motorola is not from the area as it seems to be the case with some other novorussian commanders, such as Strelkov. Both are former Russian professional soldiers and veterans.
I even found a Brazilian from my home state of São Paulo! Rafael Lusvarghi is certainly in the Ukraine as there are plenty of photos of him with separatist forces. See here(portuguese but there are photos): Matei quatro soldados e precisei comer cachorro
He claims he served in the French foreign Legion before joining the police in Sao Paulo. Says he fought in the battle of Debaltseve and even killed 4 ukrainian soldiers. He says the Ukranian soldiers he fought against were brave and determined and that in an attack he and his men carried out against a position the ukranian soldiers fought to last man. Rafael also claims in the above article that there are 2 other Brazilians fighting with Novorussia and that one was wounded and is recovering at a hospital at Donetsk. He mentions in his unit people from Serbia, France, Spain, Italy, Macedonia and even a french-colombian.
Lusvarghi was featured in combat by some Russian TV channel:

The rulers of the world want Ukraine not only as a missile base; they want its economy. Kiev’s new Finance Minister, Nataliwe Jaresko, is a former senior US State Department official in charge of US overseas “investment”. She was hurriedly given Ukrainian citizenship.
They want Ukraine for its abundant gas; Vice President Joe Biden’s son is on the board of Ukraine’s biggest oil, gas and fracking company. The manufacturers of GM seeds, companies such as the infamous Monsanto, want Ukraine’s rich farming soil.
Above all, they want Ukraine’s mighty neighbour, Russia. They want to Balkanise or dismember Russia and exploit the greatest source of natural gas on earth. As the Arctic ice melts, they want control of the Arctic Ocean and its energy riches, and Russia’s long Arctic land border. Their man in Moscow used to be Boris Yeltsin, a drunk, who handed his country’s economy to the West. His successor, Putin, has re-established Russia as a sovereign nation; that is his crime.
The responsibility of the rest of us is clear. It is to identify and expose the reckless lies of warmongers and never to collude with them. It is to re-awaken the great popular movements that brought a fragile civilisation to modern imperial states. Most important, it is to prevent the conquest of ourselves: our minds, our humanity, our self respect. If we remain silent, victory over us is assured, and a holocaust beckons.
