A few years ago, I watched a doco on TV late one night called Reel Bad Arabs how Hollywood had depicted Arab / Muslim people for decades – made by a Uni lecturer / professor. Its a short doco only about 40 or 50 mins

What stunned me about the doco was that I’d seen every one of the films he uses to demonstrate his point – and it had never occurred to me that I was being propagandized all that time.

Aftershock reports from a UK Government release of adverse effects recorded so far in UK from Pfizer “vaccine”. Since it’s dubious that this report will receive wide covereage – i.e. Russians will be aware of the situation in Britain, but the British people, largely, won’t – I bring part of it here:

The UK government has released a report highlighting the adverse reactions to both Pfizer and AstraZeneca that have been identified since the roll-out began on December 9, and it is thought-provoking.

The UK’s regulatory body, the medicines and healthcare products regulatory Agency (MHRA), uses “YellowCard” – a website for reporting adverse drug reactions in the UK-which is the closest UK equivalent to the us vaccine side effects reporting System (VAERS).

The report collects data entered as of February 14, 2021 through the medicines and healthcare products regulatory Agency (MHRA). As of this date, approximately 8.3 million first doses of Pfizer vaccine and 6.9 million doses of Oxford University AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered, as well as approximately 0.6 million second doses, mainly Pfizer vaccine.

After the introduction of vaccines, adverse reactions were recorded: 77,207 registered reactions to Pfizer vaccine and 114,625 reactions to AstraZeneca vaccine. In fact, this indicator may be higher, since not all cases are reported to the YellowCard system.

Thanks to the Pfizer vaccine, which uses experimental mRNA technology, 9 people are now blind, and another 55 people suffer from visual impairment. A total of 1,096 eye diseases have been registered so far. Imagine being chained to the same four walls for more than a year and not being able to see your family or friends. Then you get excited because you naively think that an experimental “vaccine” will give you your life back and allow you to see them again. After using the AstraZeneca vaccine, 16 people went blind and another 50 people suffer from visual impairment.

In addition, 45 cerebrovascular incidents occurred due to Pfizer’s experimental vaccine. A cerebrovascular disorder is the sudden death of certain brain cells due to lack of oxygen, when blood flow to the brain is disrupted due to a blockage or rupture of an artery leading to the brain. A cerebrovascular disorder is also called a stroke. There were 32 cerebrovascular incidents following the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

A total of 8 spontaneous abortions (miscarriages) were detected due to receiving a dose of Pfizer vaccine. Our own government recommends that anyone who is pregnant or wants to get pregnant avoid Pfizer vaccination for the next two months, so why do pregnant women get this vaccine? You won’t hear about it in the mainstream media. After using the AstraZeneca – 3 vaccine, miscarriages occur.

Even more shocking statistics: YellowCard received 90 reports of deaths and 12 reports of sudden deaths due to the Pfizer vaccine. These are 12 people who immediately dropped dead after being vaccinated. There were 111 reports of death and 8 reports of sudden death following the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

But the total number of reports of “fatalities,” also known as” fatalities ” from the Pfizer vaccine, stands at 197 as of February 14. So, in the” asset ” Pfizer: 9 people who went blind, 45 people who suffered a stroke, 8 women who had a miscarriage even after the government advised, even in small print, pregnant women to avoid vaccination, and 197, unfortunately, died, – all as a result of receiving an experimental vaccine approved for emergency care, the manufacturers of which have absolutely zero responsibility to hold accountable or compensate for any adverse reactions.

Following the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine, 205 deaths were reported as of February 14. A total of 402 post-vaccination deaths were recorded in the YellowCard system between December 9, 2020 (when the first COVID vaccine was introduced in the UK) and February 14, 2021. ……………..(………)

According to the Pentagon, the C-RAM was used today to repel an attack on the ain al-Assad base in Iraq. At the same time, reports there were 10 missiles that hit the facilities at the base.

Based on the photos of the detected launcher, 10 missiles is a full salvo. 100% hit on the target for the Iranian proxies and zero for the American air defense.

The US Department of defense also does not have precise information about who exactly is behind the attack. A Pentagon spokesman declined to directly answer a question about a possible retaliatory strike.

President Biden is facing a dilemma that he would rather not face. Sometime in the next few months, he will have to pour more troops into Afghanistan or pull out altogether. There is almost no other real option.

The United States currently has 2,500 troops in Afghanistan, the lowest number since the war began 20 years ago. An agreement that President Trump signed with the Taliban calls for all U.S. troops to leave the country by May 1. In turn, the Taliban pledged to dissociate themselves from terrorist groups such as al-Qaida and to refrain from attacking civilians. They have not complied with either condition.

So should Biden stay after May 1 or leave anyway? The issue goes beyond numbers. The president and his aides are conducting a policy review, and the review should ask a basic question: What do we want to accomplish in Afghanistan after all this time, and is that goal feasible? If not, should we cut our losses and go home?

Currently, U.S. troops are mainly involved in counterterrorism against al-Qaida and, to some degree, ISIS. In all of last year, just 10 Americans died in Afghanistan—only four of them while fighting. But if U.S. troops are still in the country after May 1, the Taliban will force them into a fight—and, for that, the U.S. will need more than 2,500 troops. And if they come under attack from the Taliban, they couldn’t do much against al-Qaida either. Reinforcements would be necessary, and more Americans would die, or else the mission would be doomed.

Complicating matters further is that the U.S. is not the only country whose commitment is at stake. Other NATO countries have about 8,000 troops in Afghanistan. They are unlikely to stick around if the Americans pull out. And if Biden does stay in, they’ll still want to know the plan.

In his long career, Biden has witnessed calamitous troop-withdrawals and fruitless escalations. He was a freshman senator during the haunting spectacle of U.S. helicopters abandoning the embassy in Saigon, leaving many loyal Vietnamese behind. And he was vice president when Barack Obama, in his first year as president, decided to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, raising the total to almost 100,000, and to adopt a new strategy of counterinsurgency, a.k.a. “nation-building.”

Biden was the only official in the National Security Council to oppose that troop-surge, arguing instead to deploy a mere 10,000 extra troops and to use them strictly to fight al-Qaida terrorists and to train the Afghan army. He made the case that nation-building wouldn’t work, given the corruption of the Afghan government—and he was right. Obama reached the same conclusion after 18 months of giving it a try, withdrew most of the troops, and adopted Biden’s more limited goals. As he left office, Obama kept 8,000 troops in Afghanistan—not so much to help reform the country as to use the country as a base for pressuring al-Qaida on both sides of the Afghan-Pakistani border.

Trump was inclined to pull all the troops out, but his advisers, especially Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis and National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster, convinced him otherwise, selling him on a “new strategy” that would inspire “victory.” Actually, it was just a slightly enhanced version of the old strategy, and it brought us no closer to defining “victory,” much less achieving it. So, after bringing on a more pliant set of advisers, Trump reverted to his original plan. He hired a skilled former ambassador and native Afghan, Zalmay Khalilzad, to head up peace talks with the Taliban (against the resistance of the Afghan government). They struck a deal. May 1 was the pullout date for U.S. troops. But, as noted earlier, the Taliban didn’t keep their side of the bargain, and now Biden is on the verge of not keeping our side of it either.

Biden’s middle-ground approach from a decade ago won’t work now if the Afghan government is tumbling and the Taliban are fighting U.S. forces. So, again, should Biden dip further in or get out? His prior positions, as senator and vice president, make him less than keen to do either.

There are some questions that no interagency group has ever seriously asked but that are worth asking now. First, does it matter if U.S. troops are in Afghanistan? The standard answer is that, if we leave, al-Qaida will come roaring back in and, once again, use it as a staging ground for attacking the United States, as they did on 9/11. But one thing we’ve learned from the various terrorist plots of the last decade is that, if bad guys want to plot attacks on America and its allies, they don’t need a training base in Afghanistan to do it.

Another answer—the one that Obama invoked to justify keeping 8,000 troops in the country—is that it’s worth having a military base in the area, if just to keep an eye on Pakistan, a turbulent country that has nuclear weapons, and to assure India, which has some presence in Afghanistan as a way of enveloping Pakistan, of our support. This is the most persuasive argument for staying in, even just a little bit, (the humanitarian argument for preventing the Taliban’s oppressive rule, especially against women, is another) and if it’s impossible to stay in a little bit, we might have to enlarge our presence a bit. A few years ago, there might have been a way to form an alliance with other powers with converging interests in the region—China, Russia, possibly Iran—but tensions with all three make this a fantasy now.

One other way out—the only way to avoid the otherwise inescapable dilemma—is to strike a deal with the Taliban and the Afghan government to extend the May 1 deadline and to keep talking. The Taliban might not agree to this; they think they’ve got us on the run, and, in a way, they do, so why give us a break? Khalilzad, who’s still the U.S. emissary, might have to come up with a clever solution to extend this impasse. I don’t know what this would be; I hope he has some ideas. Biden may have no choice but to urge him on and give him enormous leeway, whatever he comes up with.

Is it kicking the can down the road, as the old saw has it? Yes, but that’s better than the alternatives.

The central problem is the one that Vice President saw back in 2009—the Afghan government’s corruption. Top U.S. military officers saw that back then, too. In Senate hearings in September of that year, a few months before Obama decided to send more troops, Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, had an interesting exchange with Sen. Lindsey Graham. The Taliban were gaining ground, and Graham wanted to know why. The problem, Mullen said, “is clearly the lack of legitimacy of the [Afghan] government.”

Graham pushed the point. “We could send a million troops, and that wouldn’t restore legitimacy in the government?” he asked.

Mullen replied, “That is correct.” A few minutes later, under questioning from Sen. Susan Collins, Mullen reemphasized the point. In order to defeat the Taliban, he said, the “Afghan government needs to have some legitimacy in the eyes of the people. The core issue is the corruption… That threat is every bit as significant as the Taliban.”

Nonetheless, Mullen, Graham, Collins all urged Obama—and Obama decided—to send more troops. Mullen, Gen. David Petraeus, and other U.S. officers also said around this time that there was no way to win the war militarily; it would end only through a political settlement. And yet they all urged waiting until the U.S. and NATO won a few big battles, so we could go to the negotiating table with leverage—to get the best deal possible. But we never won a few big battles, and the Afghan government remained corrupt, without legitimacy.

And so, President Biden, who saw the situation most clearly in 2009 and endorsed a policy consistent with that vision, is probably stuck in the same dilemma as his predecessors—though my guess is, he won’t fall into the trap of escalation, he won’t send any more troops. He will just order his team to find the best way, or the least bad way, to muddle through.

Just to note a region to watch this week: following the Commander, Standing NATO Group 1 Twitter account (@COM_SNMG1), the warships have arrived in the Baltic Sea and are now at a port visit at Gdynia, Poland.

For whatever reason, the Canadian military Twitter accounts seem to suggest heightened military activity (like lots of small arms practice) — a bit more aggressive than the usual exercises to ”enhance joint readiness and interoperability”. And it includes the Bundeswehr, so. Could be of regional significance.

Putin supports Belousov in fight against coal oligarchs

To start with – this headline is wrong. There are no “oligarchs” in Russia. An Oligarch is a very wealthy person who wields undemocratic political power via that wealth
America has Oligarchs.
Russia does not.

However ………the meat is in the pudding, as we say:,

Now the coal “oligarchs” will not have the same freedom that was observed over the past decades. Moreover, if not nationalisation, then nationalisation of the industry will start.

In just one year of work, first Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov managed to achieve what previous officials could not solve for decades. Or maybe he just didn’t want to decide.

But first things first;

Putin supported two key proposals of Andrey Belousov for the industry. In order not to repeat their essence for a long time, we have prepared the corresponding video material, which was released on the Dvinsky Club channel. Before reading further, we advise anyone who is not aware to watch and subscribe to the channel:
ow let’s go directly to yesterday’s meeting. Vladimir Putin pointedly instructed the government and Russian Railways to sign contracts with coal oligarchs under the”take or pay” scheme for a long time: for 3 years until 2024, respectively.
This means that even if the coal miners do not want to provide the necessary volumes of loading on the Russian Railways network, they will still pay money. Prepayment will be made in advance.
In 2020, 122 million tons of coal were exported to the Asia-Pacific countries. By 2024, this figure should grow by at least 30%. Accordingly, all these volumes will be registered and recorded. Thus, the state-owned Russian Railways company will eliminate risks in planning its financial indicators.

Now for the second most important decision. Putin instructed to work out a model for financing infrastructure for the export of coal from Yakutia. As we wrote earlier, in Yakutia, the state company rostec is engaged in the development of coal mining. In other words, Yakut coal is becoming an alternative to Kuzbass coal, which is produced by private companies registered in offshore companies.

However, the whole question was to create infrastructure, which, according to Russian Railways ‘ calculations, requires 700 billion rubles. Putin suggested using funds from the national welfare Fund for this purpose.

Specifically about the national welfare Fund, we will make a material in the near future. Very interesting events are taking place there. However, if we talk specifically about the coal sector, we see how the government consistently nationalises the industry:

Finally starts its own mining
Sets tough conditions for the oligarchs on transport infrastructure
Starts construction of infrastructure for exporting “state-owned” coal
Takes control of port coal transshipment terminals in the far East

This became possible only after the change of government.

This turnaround in the coal industry is a credit to first Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov, who was not afraid to take on the responsibility of joining the fight against coal oligarchs. Formally, Belousov is not responsible for overseeing the coal industry. However, the first Deputy Prime Minister is well aware that if changes are not made now, then in 10 years it will be too late: the state will suffer huge losses. Accordingly, it is necessary to act now. Namely, to achieve maximum returns from the coal industry in order to invest this money in the development of other sectors of the economy of coal-producing regions.
