Dear friends,
I just want to invite you to share your comments about the new blog not here, but at the announcement post on the NEW blog. That way our IT specialist can track what is requested instead of going through all comments everywhere.
Many thanks,
The Saker
When I open thesaker.is on iphone it is not clear to me where I should go for me to get to thesaker.is/blog/ – that is, to the version I got used to using on http://vineyardsaker.blogspot.ru/?m=1
I see to it that the “Blog” link is highlighted for mobile devices so you’ll find it more easily. Thanks for the hint.
Hi, well, I am already confused, and I admit that I am easily confused, but I don’t see here on the new site the “denazification” post that is at the old site.
What am I missing?
I also see “Leave a reply” but not just “Leave a comment.”
Again, what am I missing?
One other point: What is the thinking behind featuring—as part of the blog’s intrinsic personality, so it looks like—the huge “Je Suis Charlie” t hing on the home page? It really hits you between the eyes and is the only really clear thing. The new blog’s name is actually obscured by the bar that says “The new blog is now ready.” which seems a bit counterproductive. It practically looks as though the name, and point, of this blog and site is “Je suis Charlie.” Hardly counts that it has a X t hrough it. It totally dominates the page. I don’t like it, visually, and I qluestion it, philosophically. This is an important issue, but is it the most important element of the this blog’s identity? Also, right above it is “Articles in the Spotlight” but it doesn’t link to anything. so, apparently there are no articles in teh spotlight, but it looks like the Charlie is in fact the article in teh spotlight. But that also doesn’t link to anuything. So, kurz um, I think this homepage could use some tweaking, both aesthetically and communication-wise. Anent the latter, I now see that the line of dots above the Charlie thing are actually links to some basic documents. How are readers supposed to figure thiis out? Totally inaccessible! Why not list these in a reasonable spot, as at the old blog? And why embed these mysterious white dots in the Charlie thing? Color me mystified, or perhaps just dotty.

Look below and find Leave a Reply.. Don’t click reply or it brings that same box up to reply to a particular message.
OK, so I posted the comment, but it didn’t disappear from the comment box, so I figured it hadn’t gone through. But is guess it did go through. But still, well, I am still confused. The older blog just continues to seem more “intuitive,” sans bells and whistles and huge Charlie posters. And I am surprised: only two comments so far?
I would like to suggest:
1. Put a time stamp and link to individual comments so they can be easily identified and saved, shared etc. Just like in the old blog. There are many excellent comments here, so this is a very helpful feature.
2. Make the blog view the default view, like in the old blog. It is practical because when you visit the blog, you know very quickly which was the last item you read and what has come up since then.

Perhaps it’s too late for another format change, since it appears that you’re commited to this style. FWIW, the most interacive format I’ve come accross is that of freerepublic ( freerepublic.com ) the second is zero hedge ( zerohedge.com) .
These promote interactivity between commenters such that real conversations develop between folks. Having one choose a user name is not a hardship and promotes an easy way for threads to develop.

Some colour adjustments please-
light orange and light blue text are hard to read against a pale background.
A ‘print’ button to de-clutter the text for archiving or printing would be nice to have.
Otherwise: well done!
Thanks a million Saker for the Chronological option as I am a daily visitor! Keep up the good work, and I must say, I also agree with Nuland!!!
