Dear friends,
I just wanted to let you know that ‘Auslander’ is doing well. I know – I saw him face to face :-)
Really, he managed to organize a visit to the USA and we met and spent a full day together. I could not write about this before as I wanted him to leave the territory of the USA before posting this. He is doing well and he told me plenty of interesting things about the situation in Crimea. The bottom line is this: he and I agree that Crimea is 100% safe. Alas, we also agree that a Ukie attack is most likely.
Anyway – he sends his regards to everybody and he will be back on this blog as soon as he sleeps of is jet lag.
Kind regards,
The Saker
> Crimea is 100% safe. Alas, we also agree that a Ukie attack is most likely.
You mean a Ukie attack on East Ukraine, not Crimea, right?

Life in Democratic Ukraine or Watch What You Say
“I was arrested in my own flat in the town of Soledar (Donetsk oblast) because I was saying improper things on a phone”- this is how Natalya Alexandrovna, 52 years old begins her story. “September 9 at 18:15 masked men came to my house. They took my grandson’s notebook, a cell telephone…They were searching for weapons but found none. I was taken to Kramatorsk airport where I was made to undress down to underwear, I was doused with icy water, I was beaten with butts of guns and brass knuckles…Next day they lowered me into a dug pit, I was stripped naked. They forced me to eat dirt and to shout “Glory to Ukraine! ” On the third day someone from SBU came and figured out that I have no connections with terrorists. I told the investigator “If you leave me here I am going to kill myself by opening my veins “. I was taken to Kharkiv and shortly after to Poltava. They were rather kind in Poltava but they refused to take me into custody at first – because I was so black-and-blue from beatings. Then the local investigator said “Ok, but we will write that your arrest was made on 14th of September “. I ask him “And where was I then from September 9th?” He replied ” Wow, they must have beaten you real’ well if you wrote a confession to so many crimes!” But what could I do – they threatened me with lives of my children, one of my interrogators was my co-worker, who by the way was the informant….
Dear Saker, when you two judge that a Ukie attack is most likely, do you mean an attack on Novorossia as we all expect, or do you mean an attack on Crimea itself?
Wow. I didn’t know he’s around there. We really don’t know much about anyone here, do we? not even you, Saker. Happy to zse he is safe and left the Empire in one piece.
Another good argument for people not to be “anonymous”. With a name we can gradually build up a picture of a person, to let us judge what he knows and how he knows it, without demanding a “mission statement” from all new members.
re the likely attack… the Novorossiya elections are in 4 days. Trust Poro to mess them up, after NR did nothing to mess up his.
Dear The Saker,
That is good to know :). I am glad you both met.
I think we all know as long as USG is running things it aint gonna stop! Reading between the lines on two articles today. The first article – if that isn’t a declaration – I don’t know what is!

The second has our dear friend Biden who last time he visited Ukraine gave the orders to war on the people of the East. They really should just say “war process” not peace…..
The fact Yarosh got a seat in the parliament is another factor……

Auslander is a good man and always brings an invaluable perspective right from Crimea.
A surprising and refreshing argument that the US should exit NATO, as there is no threat from Russia.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/oct/24/bruce-fein-time-withdraw-nato/
Dear Saker
I never doubted that Crimea was safe. An attack on Crimea is an attack on Russia. The Ukrainian attack forces would be annihilated before they entered one inch into the Crimea.
The anglo zionists are too attached to their lifes and wealth to seriously consider this alternative. Even an indirect intervention could trigger an extreme response from Russia.
As for novorossiya, they will bleed but they will prevail. Eventually, after every hard core nazi is shot, the Ukies will recover from their delusions and make peace.
Dear Saker
The bottom line is this: he and I agree that Crimea is 100% safe. Alas, we also agree that a Ukie attack is most likely.
————————————-
If attack is very likely how can Crimea be safe?
Just asking
Once Nazi, today Natoist
Thanks
Can someone please tell me where “Lvovchina” is? I have tried looking it up and can’t find anything. Thank you in advance!
I always appreciate Auslander’s contributions here.
Today a little truth seems to be emerging about MH17 being shot down from the air, not the ground, courtesy of the Dutch:

@ Anon with “..If attack is very likely how can Crimea be safe?..”
lately we’ve been using “ukie attack” to mean on Novorossiya, as they’ve been reported to be getting into position for one. That’s what Saker and Auslander mean.
Crimea is 110% Russia’s and even looking hard at it WOULD start WW3, and the Empire really doesn’t feel like getting nuked, which Putin warned them he’d do. Have a look on the Podcast thread where I’ve put 3 long posts explaining to someone the strengths and readiness of the 2 sides.
@ the pug
re MH17
that story says the Dutch are asking Russia for the radar evidence they claimed they have for an air to air shooting. Maybe they’ll show the investigators something better than what they showed the public. (They have better for sure).
I wonder if they’ve asked the USA for their evidence about it being a BUK? it would be extra interesting if they DID and got told there isn’t any.
The story doesn’t read like they’ve eliminated BUK, but they’re just covering all bases. They’ve had long enough to identify the fragments found in the bodies.
@ anon 28 October, 2014 14:55
This is a very shocking story indeed! I hope that the lady will recover fully, also from PTSD problems. That she comes out with her story makes her a great hero! My greatest respect to her, and wish her well!
It is very important that these war crimes are properly documented.
Please give a link…
The media from Kiev en their social media trolls do nothing else than telling lies, but also finding ´witnesses´: anecdotal stories.
I do not critisize these witnesses: mostly elderly folks, who obviously observed some events, and are probably explaining them according to their political beliefs (their grandson is probably ´missing in action´)..
The level in Kiev never rises above sentimentality and intrigue; I look down on it, but they do have a point in showing this. However, most of their stories are lied or manipulated.
But it is really important to bring these situations (like the one of mrs Alexandrovna) out in the open! ( but also: statistics! How often does this happen?) with the graphic pictures (they travel far on Youtube!).
One can think of RT 1, 2 and perhaps 3, the first channel analytical, news and analysis like crosstalk, and well translated speeches, like the one of mr Glaziev and mr Putin in Sochi, with intelligent commentators afterwards (I would never leave my couch!), the second one more emotional, with these important background and eyewitness stories and culture.
Unfortunately the shows from Hartman and Abby are getting old. at least for me, in Europe: too US centered.
Sorry … but who is “Auslander”? Never heard of him (her?) before.
nice, this auslander.
I would give a leg to the devil to have a one day talk with this guy. less bad that he managed to leave the territory alive.

Great news Auslander is doing well and that he believes Krim is safe.
Yatz and Porky holds 43% pop. Vote in the pro-war RADA.
Re: Ukie attack. I posted in another thread, Mr. Lavrov has indicated RF will recognize the vote in Luhansk and Donetsk Republics.
“Elections due to be held in the self-proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics on November 2 will be very important from the point of view of the legitimization of power,” he said. “We think this is one of the most important aspects of the Minsk agreements.”
This is mis-reported in the West that
Kiev takes the idea to recognize the vote of DPR LPR as a violation of Minsk:

What joy that you have been able to meet each other, Auslander and Saker. Must have been very exciting. Although dangerous too, I’m glad he´s come out of there safely and is now among his people, in the beautiful (I guess) Crimea.
I appreciate the information is gave to us by Auslanderas well as yours, Saker.
Sometimes I dream ….. with a meeting between all of us, Saker community, … somewhere,… at some time, ….. something like Vineyard of the Saker Club of Discussion,…. why not in… Sochi?
Life goes on… Poroshenko, who came to power through an engineered coup just had massive electoral success (recognized by Russia), U.S. markets continue to soar, the ruble continues to fall, oil continues to fall, Poland moves troops to its eastern borders and Russia does… nothing.
This is becoming seriously pathetic.
I guess I’m kind of tired of reading Orlov’s umpteenth blog post on the collapse of the empire… a dead horse he’s been beating for 15 years…
Why the hell will Russia NOT fully de-dollarize, launch its own credit card network, get out of SWIFT, etc. is beyond me.
Or is Pierre Hillard (whom I’m pretty sure The Saker knows as I know he follows Alain Soral and Dieudonné) right in that Putin is an integral part of the globalists?
I would just like to be enlighted on all this (and not insulted as seems to be the case when we ask serious questions)… I don’t advocate armed conflict as I believe Russia is right in doing everything possible to avoid this (so this is a plus here in the last few months), but why no (serious) economic measures?
Not so much a blog but a virtual family, I now fully realize.
I’m currently offline and out of touch except for what I can pick up from other people’s devices.
Get well soon Auslander. Always appreciate your contributions.

Anonymous 28 October, 2014 19:38 has got a point…
The elections in Ukraine though seriously flawed were not good news for ‘us’ – the nationalist right wing won on a fairly big turn out.
We can say it was an illegitimate election – rightly – but even so accepting that the results were not fraudulent – the fascists won and on top of that, Russia’s position looks hemmed in.
Nobody west of the river looks like they’re going to tolerate anti-nationalist rule.
The western economy – shit though it is from my and millions like me’s postion – sails on serenely confident as ever.
But we must keep chipping away at the facade, we have to continue to disbelieve all the hype and lies.
We are many

haha indeed, Orban has been thumbing his nose at EU for a while. Someone here earlier worried about a colour revolution being prepared for Hungary, but I said they know the signs.
“..“If Brussels believes that the countries can be dictated the rules of conduct, this reminds us of the USSR actions in 1956,” Hungary’s MTI news agency quoted the parliament speaker as saying…” from the story you linked.
It is easier for Hungary to quit than for some others, because they never adopted the euro. You always leave a door open. You never burn bridges.
Of course to tax internet will get him protests without any encouragement, as the people are highly computer savvy and love their internet.
Now public discussion of should they leave or not, and why, will be heard by all those OTHER unhappy countries. The empire has gone and shot itself in the foot again. Muaahaha.

The Institute of Modern Russia is a registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit in the United States, dedicated to the advancement of democratic values and institutions in the Russian Federation…”
quelle surprise!
then they have the cheek to ask for donations. Which they will because (a) they cater to a monied prejudice and (b) donations to 501(c)(3) entities are tax deductible because they count as charities.
Good to know! But anybody knows what happened to JUAN?

“Why the hell will Russia NOT fully de-dollarize, launch its own credit card network, get out of SWIFT, etc. is beyond me.”
It is impossible to abandon the dollar from one day to another. Think of the many longterm contracts and the need for dollar reserves in an age of international trade. Russia will partially abandon the dollar over time, but no country can do it completely and they shouldn’t, it would make no sense. The dollar will not dominate in the future, but it will always be an important currency.
It takes time to develop a credit card network. Moscow has been working on this problem for months. The Chinese system is up and running.
You can’t easily dump SWIFT when your partners and foreign banks use it, but an alternative system, albeit smaller, is possible and will emerge over time if all goes well.
The Empire is already collapsing. It is on lifesupport. When it dies, it will be reborn as France and Britain were. Smaller and weaker, but always important. Before it dies, an Empire makes a last attempt to expand, causing problems for everybody else. Napoleon was not the beginning of a new age for France, he was the instrument of its end and it took a long time for France to accept the new reality, but in the end it did. It is not over yet, but the death process has started and it is already ugly. Senseless war after senseless war and a dying economy.

I was thinking the same. The Ukie’s and West are having a fit over Lavrov saying Russia would recognize those elections.I think they will try to prevent them,or actually pick that day for the attack. They know many of the NAF will be busy with the election security. And an attack on that day might catch them by surprise.I heard a Russian official said today he hoped no one would interfere in the elections.I’m hoping that was a way of warning the Ukie’s not to attack then. But as insane as the junta is I’m not sure they understand that.

It makes a useful article to share with others who might not be so well informed economically.

Truly I begin to feel sorry for those who swallow the western spin – and I think, surely it must affect policy? For all the debate over whether the US is incompetent or just very clever to appear that way, I can’t believe anyone can operate every day in a world view of lies without taking at least some of it on board.

This is interesting and maybe gels with what Zakharchenko said about retrieving these lands by the end of November.
I would hope these sort of statements don’t pressage a Novorussian offensive. They will get these lands back in time, maybe not in November, but in the next few months.
Better to let Kiev keep making mistakes though rather than stir up trouble and then be blamed.

Auslander, if you read this, I have some questions I can’t find answers to and perhaps I am not alone. These are questions some EU and US citizens may have.
1. How do I get there? Can I go by train or car through Ukraine? Is the border open and safe? How will the Ukrainians treat me when they see I am on my way to Krim? Is it better to go by airplane?
2. The plane from St. Petersburg arrives late in the evening, doesn’t it? Is there another route? What do you recommend?
3. Do people speak some English or another EU language?
4. I understand wages and pensions have gone up. What about prices?
5. Are there tourist information centers? If I go, I will be looking for bed and breakfast.
6. Can I buy a cashcard to my cell phone? What about a temporary internet connection?
7. What are the rules for smoking? I will not go without my tobacco pipe.
Thanks in advance. I hope I am not asking too much.

A BUK vapor trail can be 15km long fired off at an angle which has to climb up to 10km The vapor trail would last 10+ mins in the sky before disappearing and seen for miles around!
Yet not one person saw a vapor trail in that vicinity…..no one person was able to take a photo or film a video of the skies with this vapor trail……not even from over the Ukrainian front lines.
What kind of investigation is this? I find it truly amazing that after 3 months, the Dutch and Australian investigators have not gathered all the Aircraft debris and re-constructed the aircraft for their forensic scientists to analyse.
This normally happens after Aircraft crashes, as much of the aircraft is placed together like a jigsaw puzzle. Instead all the Aircraft debris still lying in these open fields. Maybe the Dutch & Australian investigators already know the Ukrainian Air Force shot down MH17….and it would be waste of time collecting all those pieces.
BBC Russia ditched or edited out sections of their TV coverage (the original is still on YouTube though), when interviewing local residents near the crash site….each person categorically mentioned seeing or hearing another Jet close by….and when the Airliner started falling out of the sky, that Jet turned around and left that area.
Steve at 21:01,
The URL article you ask for comment about is by the Interpreter.
I thinks this from Wiki, as partly already exposed by others, says it all:

There are all kinds of troop and vehicle rearrangements going on everywhere including Russia and Crimea. May or may not mean anything.
NAF has taken over the village where the Greek funeral procession got shelled last week….the Ukies started to build a tank fortification, the locals came out to object, some mystery guys beat up some of them. NAF took over the blockpost, to protect the people, apparently they got it easily. Little moves like that, getting them into better positions.
If NAF have been given drones, they will not be boasting on video about it, so Ukies don’t find out. If Ukies want to be really nasty, they will try to hit a few polling posts when there’s a lot of people there. NAF would want some way to take out that gun after one shot…even if its an aircraft. In fact NAF would do well to set up polling places that are well hidden, while televising decoy ones being set up.
@Rootman
I used to admire T. Hartmann, but now I never watch his show. He is shilling for the globalists, in my view. pcz
I’m gonna take a different view then Saker and Auslander and predict that there will be no attack from the government in Kiev against rebel-held territory. Why? Because Ukraine is flat broke, bankrupt, collapsing. They lost 65% of their military hardware when they got destroyed in early September. I just can’t see how they could do this. I also think that when people voted it wasn’t necessarily a vote to restart war on Russia, but rather a vote that Kiev get its act together and actually make sure people don’t freeze to death in the winter.
Look, I may well be wrong about my prediction, and the Ukies will -against all rational logic! – still attack. However, my personal opinion is that if nothing changes on the economy and corruption and people are freezing their arses off all over Ukraine, that the real risk is that the radical ring wing Ukrainian groups, including some of these battalions, could March on Kiev, or at least turn against the government in some way. And many people might be angry enough to support this more radical approach to things – cold and hungry and unemployed people tend to behave this way! If Poroshenko is smart, he’d best be thinking of the risk of “Maidan Part 3, Revenge of the Extreme Right”!
Just my two cents guys, but I think it’ll be ugly in Kiev this winter…..
So, here we go.
According to OSCE observers
“..meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian members of the JCCC, scheduled for 28 October to discuss measures to strengthen the ceasefire in the area of Donetsk airport, would be postponed until the week beginning 3 November due to unexpected technical reasons which were not specified..” they were told by the Ukranian.
Interesting they don’t want to talk peace at the airport until Nov 3.
JCCC is Joint Centre for Control and Co-ordination, Ukrainian and Russian observers who are meant to be making sure the ceasefire holds. So far they’re waiting around for OSCE to provide them with vehicles but it’s not OSCE’s job. So the plan is sabotaged.
Clearly there is an implosion in progress across the Ukraine. Catholic mercenary Poles will likely meet Orthodox ‘Russians’ holiday-makers on the bankrupt plains somewhere and fight out ancient grudges. Meanwhile, does that activate NATO agreements, and if, so then is Berlin ready for Russian Occupation 2.0? If not, then they had better reign in their idiot compatriots.

Any news from ‘Juan’?
I just want to submit for peoples’ attention a long article in the LRB (no editorial or political link to the NYRB) by Keith Gessen about Ukraine but maybe especially the letter and response under it, which I may as well include here for those not bothered about the article:
Letters
Vol. 36 No. 20 · 23 October 2014
Keith Gessen offers his observations after a trip he took to Ukraine last August (LRB, 11 September). Regrettably, they come out as biased – strongly pro-Russian. He quotes gossip and supplies misrepresentations. Among them is his ‘story’ that a Kharkiv professor showed him ‘an order from the Ministry of Education demanding that all senior university officials take part in mobilising staff for the ATO [Anti-Terrorist Operation]. Those who “sabotaged” the process, would be found guilty of “separatist tendencies”.’ This is very difficult to believe. The Ukrainian minister of education is the highly respected former rector of the National University Kyiv Mohyla Academy, Professor Serhiy Kvit. I sent him Gessen’s text, and he responded saying that the claim was ‘complete and utter nonsense’.
Larissa Onyshkevych
Columbia, Maryland
Keith Gessen replies: My apologies. The order in question, warning against ‘sabotage’ of the partial military mobilisation, came from the Ministry of Defence. It was accompanied by orders for speedy compliance from the university administration, under a Ministry of Education letterhead. The University of Kharkiv, more formally the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, is one of the oldest and largest universities in Ukraine. Would that this were all complete and utter nonsense.

It’s not an American vassal. Like the rest of the world, it’s just another AZ franchise. Never forget! Banksters rule, not governments.
Is Poroshenko on his way out and is he going to be the fall guy?
i) No coalition between Poroshenko and Yatsenyuk. Yatsenyuk goes with Lyashko and Tymoshenko. Remember Rats was Nuland’s chosen place man.
ii) The Dutch authorities have asked the Russians for more information about the Ukrainian jet involved in MH17.
The US-Ukraine Antares relationship.
A spectacularly symbolic video.
Saker,
What is with all of these articles about Dutch investigators asking Russia to hand over evidence on MH-17?
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-29801798
Where is the US evidence?
Or are the Dutch (US) fishing, if Russia does not produce anything then it was missiles, and if it was missiles it was the rebels, etc.

Ladies and gentlemen, I thank you for your concerns in regards to my long absence from posts and articles. Unfortunately when it comes to doing what absolutely must be done in regards to the situation as opposed to writing articles for blog, duty won out, as it should. I will now have some time to write more for blog. As for my current situation, I went to US because I had to, not because I wanted to. I returned home three hours ago.
My meeting with Saker was quite interesting. He and I exchanged a number of views and informations and I must say the meetings were quite fruitful. I also must compliment Saker and his charming family for extending open and deep hospitality to a stranger who goes by the single name of ‘Auslander’. I am sure I will see Saker and his family again in the not distant future.
There is a depressing article posted at Information Clearing House that claims the neoliberal oligarchs in Russia are becoming dominant:
Who will remove the head of Russian President Putin and offer it on a platter to the U.S.?
By Vasily Koltashov and Boris Kagarlitsky
Ooops. Please ignore previous post.
Been away all day.
Occupied territories vote for CP or Opposition Bloc
The preliminary results of Ukrainian elections display one thing: Novorossiya is alive in most territories occupied by Kiev junta. People there voted in favour of the fragments of the Party of Regions and for the Communist Party.
In the occupied part of the LPR more than 60% (in favour of Petro Poroshenko’s Bloc – less than 14%);
— in the occupied part of the DPR — about 55% (for PPB — 16%);
— in the Kharkov region — about 50% (PPB — 16%);
— in the Zaporozhye region — about 40% (PPB — 17%);
— in the Odessa region — about 40% (PPB — 19%);
— in the Dnepropetrovsk region (!) — about 35% (PPB — 20%);
— in the Nikolayev region — about 33% (PPB — 20%);
— and only in the Kherson region of Novorossiya are Ukrainian Nationalists officially winning.
From Pavel Gubarev’s website. Ignoring Yatseniuk makes it look better than it is, of course.

Welcome home Auslander.
