Novorossiya Military Briefing, August 15, 2014
Map: Hostilities in Novorossiya, August 6-15, 2014
Translated by Gleb Bazov
Overall, it is becoming increasingly clear that the widely publicized offensive on Donetsk has, as expected, amounted to zilch. The Ukrainian Armed Forces does not have any more strength. It simply does not. And that is all. Moreover, the Junta forces are facing several simultaneous catastrophes on the local scale, which can become operational-tactical in nature and then strategic.
DPR:
The Saur-Mogila Area
The counter-offensive of the DPR forces that began on August 11, 2014 resulted in the DPR army taking control of Stepanovka on August 12, 2014 and then of Marinovka in the morning of August 13, 2014. The Marinovka border crossing checkpoint (“KPP”) was taken over in the afternoon of August 13, 2014. Thereby, the Southern Cauldron 2.0 was formed. As a result, three more armoured-tank groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces ended up being encircled. Although the Junta troops’ desperate attack on Stepanovka on August 13-14, 2014 resulted in heavy fighting on the outskirts of the village and in the settlement itself, it ultimately resulted in the attacking grouping’s complete rout. So far, the trumpeted importance of Saur-Mogila appears to offer the Ukrainian army no particular solace. This suggests that the widely advertised capture of the strategic height was nothing more than a PR move on the part of the Junta (equivalent to the Nazi Germany installing its flag on Mount Elbrus in 1942).
Snezhnoye-Miusinsk-Krasniy Luch (DPR+LPR)
The situation is under the complete control of the Militia. Although the enemy grouping has not lost its combat capability entirely yet, it has been dissected by the Militia into parts and is fighting on the defensive. Considering the importance of the nearby road intersection for communication lines between the Republics and Russia, the elimination of this enemy grouping has been prioritized. Control over Miusinsk has been fully restored. Krasniy Luch also is firmly in the hands of the Militia.
South of Donetsk
In the last few days, fierce battles were fought in the Ilovaisk area. The importance of this region is that it represents a convenient springboard for an attack into the rear of the Amvrosievka grouping of the Ukrainian forces. On the other hand, the Junta’s contemplated offensive aimed at the encirclement of Donetsk also required the taking of this city. And that is why the DPR Army fought to retain it at all costs. And not only succeeded, but defeated the advancing enemy grouping. Throughout the area, the enemy has been driven back and in the last day showed no signs of activity. It appears that the Junta has exhausted its reserves in this direction of the front (that which was available likely will be redeployed in an attempt to de-blockade and relieve the new Southern Cauldron, opening several important opportunities for the DPR Army).
West of Donetsk
Apart from the foolish destruction of the bus carrying Praviy Sector militants, nothing else happened. In general, there is a lull in this section of the front.
North of Donetsk, Gorlovka, Debaltsevo
Fierce battles were fought here in all the previous days. At first, there were the strikes of the Kiev forces on Nizhnyaya Krynka, the DPR Army’s junction area between Gorlovka and Yasinovataya. Simultaneously, a second strike followed from Debaltsevo on Uglegorsk. This part of the operations was aimed at the encirclement and dissection of the Donetsk-Makeevka-Gorlovka grouping of the DPR Army. Due to lack of sufficient troops the operation became bogged down without reaching its goals. Yesterday, the DPR Army commenced its counter-offensive. Yasinovataya is once again controlled by the DPR. The development of the offensive in the direction of Panteleimonovka will cut off the enemy strike group from the rest of the forces. Near Gorlovka the enemy has lost dozens of armoured vehicles, essentially losing its strike capabilities. Moreover, the grouping of Mozgovoi has started an offensive into the rear of Debaltsevo. As of this morning, battles were being fought on the outskirts of the city. The threat to the Junta in losing Debaltsevo is the creation of yet another cauldron. At the same time, the battlefield here has been radically transformed. The Junta is no longer advancing, but rather is doing its best not to end up encircled in new cauldrons.
LPR
South of Lugansk
The Russian humanitarian convoy awoke the hostilities from hibernation also on this front. The goal of derailing the convoy has prompted the Junta’s leadership to organize an attack on Novosvetlovka-Khryashchevatoye. The goal here is to cut off the remaining open road that enabled the supply of the Lugansk garrison. The initial success (caused by the suddenness of the strike) has turned into a complete rout. As of this morning, the units of Battalion Aidar were crushed in the area of Khryashchevatoye (the Junta has admitted 22 dead and 36 wounded). In the area of Novosvetlovka, the units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (totaling up to a company of tanks and a company of motorized infantry) sustained significant losses (losing up to half of the tanks). Right now, the LPR Army is engaged in artillery suppression and elimination of the entrenched grouping. A day or two, and here also everything will be over.
Conclusions
Whatever one’s attitude may be with respect to the latest resignations (Strelkov, Bolotov), but … it was after these resignations that the general staff of the Militia’s Armed Forces was created, such that it can now properly be called an army. This is so because central command was the one thing that the Militia lacked to function as such. The result of this coordination is already apparent. Moreover, by formally giving the leadership of the Republics a purely Ukrainian appearance, this transformation has provided the Army of the Southeast with the capacity to start solving tasks outside the borders of the Republics. Not only military ones, but political objective as well. The centralization of the military command will also oust the remnants of Makhnovism, which have been discrediting the movement. And so, a radical turn in the war no longer is just fast approaching. It is already visible with a naked eye.
Among the Junta forces, increasingly, it is not the names of regular units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces that we see flash in the briefings, but those of militarized battalions. This is a direct consequence of the losses that were suffered by the Junta troops in the last several weeks, resulting in units of the second line coming to the forefront. This forced transformation immediately aggravated the losses of the Ukrainian strike groups (the example of Ilovaisk is quite telling in that regard). In other words, the most battleworthy units of the Junta have either already been exterminated (the 72nd, the 79th, the 51st, and parts of the 24th Brigads), or are currently blockaded in cauldrons (the 80th, the 95th, the 30th, and parts of the 24th Brigade). At the same time, the militarized battalions that were left holding the front cannot compare to the regular army despite all their patriotic zealotry. In other words, at the front we are observing an equalization of forces not only in terms of quantity (particularly in military hardware), but also in terms of quality (in fact, quality-wise, the Army of the Southeast already has an appreciable advantage).
I, for one, am thankful Strelkov and Bolotov have made sure the anti-Kiev forces have held their ground and beat back the Killers from Kiev. They can sit back with their heads held high and know that thanks to their influence we’re now witnessing a proper, military revolt against the forces of darkness and evil.
Thank you for having been outstanding men.
Encouraging news.More news with videos are up at usual sources (in Russian language)- icorpus,vk.com/strelkov_info,el_murid&shrek1 in livejournal etc.In one interview new prime-minister of DNR Захарченко(Zaharchenko?)is talking even for reserves(trained for few months in Russia) finally coming -30 tanks,up to 120 APCs&IFVs and artillery-too good to be true imo.It looks like after recent reshuffles there is finally common operation center for all various Novorussia armed units. But from other side there is even more disturbing info what`s going on behind the scene -talking about Surkov(and people around him and their connections with certain organizations in the West)-Akhmetov and Khodorkovski(check his recent interview in which he is talking about united Ukraine and not obeying higher ups)-Porky and Co in Kiev.Again information is in Russian at el_murid,colonelcassad,vkontakte page of A.Dugin.After reading it despite recent encouraging news I`m still convinced(and thx @ Saker for censoring my 2 comments and calling me names couple of days ago)Russia is betraying people of Novorussia in the name of business and profit.
The transition to local leadership was essential to unify the command structure both militarily and (even more importantly) politically. While removing strelkov may have appeared to some as a move to negotiate, in reality it was a move to enable the expansion of Novorussia without a basis for charges of Russian expansion ism. The charges will still be made of course, but local leadership will blunt their bite
off topic question @Saker:
Hello Saker,
I’ve not forgotten your very clear doubts about the number of 6 million Holocaust victims and that subject was a new one to me. Now I’ve found an article that seems honest to me but I don’t know enough about the subject – so what is your take on this article:http://www.veteransnewsnow.com/2014/01/17/401529-zionist-perversion-of-history-threatens-world-peace/ ?
P.S: I’ve discovered your site only very recently but this is the first site that I ever found where people who search for truth can communicate freely without being silenced by censorship or by trolls – it makes one feel less isolated. My heartfelt thanks for your consequent efforts and my very best wishes to you and your family (and I certainly believe that your family must have a lot of patience with you :-) )

I’m wary of this junta attacking an imaginary Russian military convoy in Ukraine yarn, it’s another construction of lies deceit and p*sh that any sane person following events can see through right away. What bothers me though, is that however flimsy and ridiculous their narrative is they’ve got their message across in the media Poroshenko, Cameron etc etc, that Russia has lost, been wiped out, military vehicles and therefore soldiers too. Them Russians must be mad as hell at such a loss wouldn’t you agree ? We should watch out for a false flag attack, that the AZ media can then run with as Russia taking revenge for their pre existing fantasy loss, then Nato has their manufactured reason to get involved.
Ukies seem to be under orders to push forward at any cost, never mind the losses. How many small cauldrons have they got themselves into recently? The group attacking Novosvetlovka was basically sent on a suicide mission. Are they still trying to finish the whole thing by 24 August (Ukrainian Independence Day)? Or are they running out of money at lightning speed? Or are they afraid of the coming autumn? Or all of the above?
Of course the NAF have finally been able to use the reserves (and trophies) freed after liquidation of the southern Cauldron. It seemed to have made a difference, at least in the short term.
Here’s something verifiable and very strange for people looking for more in regards to anomalies related to the shoot down of Malaysia airlines flight MH-17. This is a Daily Mail article that came out on the 18th of July that quotes a Dr Igor Sutyagin. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2696975/Putin-blames-Ukraine-loss-Flight-MH17-298-innocent-souls-DOESNT-deny-Russian-separatists-shot-missile-McCain-warns-Hell-pay.html Here’s the excerpt and quote in question: Dr Igor Sutyagin, Research Fellow in Russian Studies from the Royal United Services Institute, believes that MH17 was shot down by rebels based in the 3rd District of Torez, in eastern Ukraine, after mistaking his plane for a government military transport aircraft.
He told MailOnline that information had been leaked from a source he was unwilling to name that the pilot of MH17 ‘felt bad’ about his course over Ukrainian airspace, so changed direction.
Little did he know, according to Dr Sutyagin, that his plane would then be mistaken by rebels who brought it down using a ground-to-air Buk missile system. Malaysia Airlines today denied that the plane was told to alter its course.
Dr Sutyagin said: ‘There is a Ukrainian mechanised brigade blocked by separatists near the Russian border. ‘It’s blocked on three sides by separatists and behind the brigade is the Russian border, so they can’t get out. The Ukrainians try to resupply them from the air by transport aircraft.
‘Now, the pilot of MH17 said that he “felt bad” and wanted to change course south to get out of the danger zone. But several kilometers to the south is a Ukrainian Army heavy transport plane, an IL76, or Candid, which has the same echo as a 777 on a radar screen.
‘The two planes came close. They tried to shoot down the transport delivering supplies to the brigade. They believed that they had been firing at a military plane, but they mistakenly shoot down a civilian airliner.’
Now the first natural question to ask would be “how does Dr. Igor Sutyagin know that the pilots felt bad?” Did he have any contact with them or with someone who did? The Daily Mail specifically quotes him as knowing how the pilots ‘felt’. The US and EU media are saying there were no last words of contact or anything out of the ordinary with MH-17. Yet Dr. Sutyagin says the pilots felt bad. He also specifically states there was a Ukrainian transport plane in close proximity… yet the Ukrainian Interior Ministry have said they had no other planes airborne at that time. Someone is obviously not telling the truth. I believe this Dr. Sutyagin may have been trying to provide a false alibi for the planes recognized on the Russian radar presentation. Now here’s the clincher. Guess who this Igor Sutyagin works for? Here’s the links:

Royal United Services Institute
for Defence and Security Studies

And here’s what that RUSI page reads: Igor worked at the Institute of US and Canadian Studies for 12 years at the Political-Military Studies Department where he held the position of the Head of Section, the US military-technical and military-economy policy.
And here’s his Wiki page, it’s a very interesting read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igor_Sutyagin He was a spy who the Russian government imprisoned for espionage. He was then traded to the US in exchange for 10 Russian spies who had been captured. (10 for 1.) He must be a pretty valuable asset if the US gave up 10 spies for him. Since then he has worked for the US and UK governments on issue related to foreign policy and Russia. Obviously his giving info in regards to MH-17 calls for further serious questioning.
Did Ukraine Attack Its Own Tanks? White House “Can’t Confirm Russian Convoy Was Destroyed By Kiev”.

guys! there is no reason to dispute the fact that 6 million jews were killed by my forefathers, what always made me angry was the fact that the 20 million russians were never mentioned. there are sources saying that it was more then 20 millions and stalin downplayed it. that I am not sure of.
I am really worried that we are going for war. Same time: we need ways to figure out how we can avoid this.
for this purpose this blog and most on this side and the other is not helping.
we need a format where left and right / religous and not – with all their major difference – accept a truce. and we talk (in person).
these are the most confusing times.
Anonymous descendant of imaginary monsters, you need to wake up and learn what part of the crimes is real and what is phantasy. But not on this blog.
If this map and his more recent tweeted reports are accurate, Brad Cabana is half-right — the Ukies are blocking the highway for the relief convoy but they’re far from a full much less tight encirclement of Lugansk with such a blocking force, since the NAF can still move freely and supply Luhansk from direct due east to the wide open Russian border and to the west and partially the southwest.
Faramir and others like him have points, there are no doubt 5th columnists in Moscow and people who simply want the problem of Novorossiya to go away for Putin and are striving for a face-saving ‘deal’ to cut between the oligarch Ahkmetov as the local kingmaker/prince, Moscow, and Kiev. The problem with their thesis is whether such plans within plans exist or not (and the evidence is strong they do exist) getting both the Ukie Nazis sponsored by Kholomoisky and the West to accept a half loaf of a TransDniestr shrunken Novorossiya seems impractical. ‘The Maidan’ meaning not the anti-corruption or anti-oligarch activists but the hardcore Nazified ultranationalists simply will reject any such deal as a ‘sellout to Putin’s aggression’ with eager sympathetic Western MSM and governments promoting such views.
On the other side, what should make Surkov think he can get the majority of NAF fighters and even many tens to hundreds of thousands of pro-NAF civilians across the Donbas to accept Ahkmetov’s de facto rule over them?
This is why Saker is partially justified in being angry about all these continued, generally fact-free ‘Putin is selling out Novorossiya’ talking points being spewed here, even if they’re sincere thoughts of despair rather than paid psyops.
It is on these two points: the growing confidence of the NAF in finally exhausting the Ukies this winter, and the Ukie Nazis fanatical determination to drive out and/or punish the Russophone population of the Donbas, that any ‘Putin sells out Novorossiya’ scenario flounders.
Putin simply CAN’T abandon the entire Donbas to the enemy at this point not only because he’d be committing political suicide at home. But even assuming Russia is a pure dictatorship where Putin can get away with anything the NAF would keep fighting and bleeding the Ukies at least through low level guerilla warfare for months or years.
Regardless of how many Bernanke bucks the Fed and IMF can e-print up for Kiev, the fact of the matter is the Fed/ECB cannot print up NATURAL GAS. Which is why Kiev is trumpeting its gas reversal deal with Slovakia but guess what, there is no way in hell Slovakia has enough gas to spare to meet all of Ukraine’s needs this winter when it is receiving essentially zero gas from Russia (except perhaps for liberated citizens of the Donbas who are close enough to the border to buy/drive in Russian-filled propane tanks). This is the looming disaster the saavy EU hands around Merkel are trying to prevent and one Washington and the Pentagon alike seem oblivious toward. Even if the Ukie offensives succeed in taking Donetsk and Lugansk before winter (and they won’t, at least not Lugansk) their troops will still be fighting a war this winter under miserable conditions while heating and draft riots break out back in their hometowns, until the Nazis mow down a whole crowd of old men and babushkas in which case it’s ON and some of these Ukie regular army men turn their BMPs and guns on the hardcore Nazis in the streets of Mariupol, Nykolaev, Dnetropetrovsk or even Kiev!
Dear Saker, I interrupt my work hour to hour in search for news. It is just too clear the dimensions of what is being enacted in Novorosiya, is crucial to all life in this planet. Though a skeptic by life experience, it is apparent that those in charge with taking the decisions and letting others carry them out, cannot and must not be obvious nor predictable for those far from the frontline. Yes, in the Kremlin appears to exist a fifth column, but it is also obvious that what is being fought in the frontlines will have a big leverage in the final negotiation to end this war in which one of the parties is committing suicide at the cost of the lifes of others unsympathetic to their pathologies.
So, whatever may have been the myths to which we may have been born to, very actual in construing reality, we stand together in the pledge NO PASARAN, but not alike Catalunia, this time they are being defeated.
Russia stands as multiethnicity, multiculturalism, and respect for heterogeneity, not to mention the remarkable creativity of her people, and resilience, as well.
From distant Patagonia, I heartedly thank you for your work.
Cordially,
D.

Colonel Cassad wrote something very interesting yesterday. Apparently, Igor Bezler, when he was in Moscow, visited the Russian General Staff and said the NAF were desperately in need of a proper Staff of there own – up until then the attempts to organise staff work had not got very far. The Russians came through and such a Staff was set up in Krasnodon (LPR). The recent results concerning unification of all Militia forces under single command likely have a lot to do with this. The goal is also to have all supplies go through Kransodon and be centrally distributed from there. This will further aid unification, because if someone refuses to accept the central authority, they will not get any supplies. Krasnodon Staff has also been mentioned in other sources, so it seems like it really exists.
It’s great to see pictures of the NAF online, they always look happy, they are a rare case of an army with God on their side. All support and respect to them.
With respect to the USEUNATO running dogs and pigs (paper tiger), jugglers and the clowns running the media . . . truly a comedy show, more pathetic by the day, twisting themselves into knots to justify genocide . . . but they will pay the price. I am personally committed to doing my share.
Death to Nazis, peace to the world.
Rivero at WRH is covering this,
with link at his site to here.
Thank You Mr. Rivero, you are a giant.
I have been following events as closely as anyone can, we have some
pretty good original Russian sources of information being translated to English by people like Gleb Bazov and reposted on
The Sakers site.
All of you deserve great credit,
great thanks to the translators.
This is how information travels on the net, reposting, reblogging, giving credit, even PCR reads here
and has linked many times, another
giant I have read throughout years.
I have seen Mr. Rivero’s site promote and help great sources of info throughout the years, like
ZeroHedge, Rivero was linking to it
regularly and popularized it, we were on a money forum and we knew about it but rest of net did not.
The Saker, Gleb Bazov, you have greater responsibilities now, you
have a far greater readership, wide
coverage. Please make use of it and please everyone support them any way you can.
Thank You to all the bloggers.
Be assured, the Rebels are winning militarily. Kiev is only good at shelling cities and civilians, their propaganda is hysterical,
especially recently.
Best To All , God Bless
These are tense times and everyone has a theory, every channel a spin and every commander a view. Then there are the countless analysts and pundits that tell their own detailed version of events and analysis.
What I think is missing is the the gut factor. We all can feel it and have known it for a while. This conflict could have ended before it started. Russia had numerous chances for doing everything short of going in right after Maidan. In fact it could even have gone in, but it did not. It would have been a just cause to overthrow a Nazi US/EU installed regime.
The problem is not that Putin or others more militant did not want to nip the problem in the bud. The problem is that there are forces (the 5th column) who have economic interests and they have been derailing initiatives. It is clear to see with the mixed signals and now a complete overhaul of command.
This conflict needs to enter a decisive phase of full blown support to the rebels. And that decision can only come top down once dissent is eliminated.
Its time to eliminate the 5th column in Russia.
NotSoFast,

If you are new to this you will need to lie down.
Wow! I read Butz and fellows a couple years ago, so I already knew … But even so, that Six Million Video is one hell of a jaw-dropper! Thanks for sharing.
as was once said in germany in the 70s: “build the red army” . . . that is the only solution for novorussia, novoeurope and novoamerica. you have to kill nazis to create peace. let he who hath ears, listen . . .
This link contains good summaries of the “Chosenites” dominance in politics, television, print media, business, and finance in the Ukraine.
They compose only 0.2% of the population but pretty much run the whole show.
Interesting factoid:
“The 540,000 square foot Dnepropetrovsk Jewish Community Center is the world’s largest JCC. Dnepropetrovsk is 250 miles SE of Kiev.”

About the operations militarily.
Been watching as closely as anyone can, thanks to the reporters, translators and bloggers.
This is a rerun of the border operations that the Junta got
caught in July, the hammer came
down hard on them about July 11.
You had major provocations after that for a reason. Rebel strength
showing itself in many forms.
This outcome of overextension and
entrapment was expected by the Rebels, they know what they are doing, they have done it before,
expect massive Kiev losses and a
massive amount of armament to pass to Rebels as before.
And expect more blatant provocations. I think they started already with the false claims of killing Russian armor, Poroshenko
can’t even find Rebel armor, they only know how to shell civilians from a distance.
God Bless
PS
Saker, Gleb Bazov and colonelcassad , all three of you are my go to, the translators of the original Russian are the MVP’s.
The criminal media reads here too,
SHAME !
Les, we don’t know that Strelkov was ‘removed.’ For all we know, the various figures who stepped aside were in complete accord with the new direction. I certainly hope that Strelkov was not booted over some petty power struggle or turf wrangling.
There probably are many Russian blogs and sites that discuss this in depth. Saker and his team are doing a good job of bringing info to the West but they can’t cover it all.
If we really want a better idea of what is going on, it is up to us to embrace the daunting task of learning at least to read Russian.
Do you know who is in charge in Kiev? I don’t. I see Poroshenko, Yats and Avakov sometimes contradict each other. Senior military officers seem to have to compete with Avakov and the SBU in the war effort. No wonder the Ukrainian military forces are in trouble.
The situation is probably complicated by Western advisors, especially Americans. NATO commander Clarke destroyed infrastructure and companies in Serbia in 1999 and the Ukrainian army does the same in Novorossiya. Likewise, as NATO encouraged Serbs to flee Kosovo so they could be replaced by Albanians, Kiev wants to replace Russianspeakers with loyal Ukrainian citizens. I studied NATO:s first war ever and I am very disturbed by what I see in Eastern Ukraine.
We also have the revolutionaries on Maidan and whoever is behind them. Extreme nationalists want to influence all decisions and so contribute to the confusion.
Don’t forget the oligarchs. Kolomoisky can definately influence events. Other oligarchs are more hidden, but I doubt they are inactive. We see more and more of Akhmetov. Is there a conflict between him and Kolomoisky?
The EU also wants a say in Kiev. I am certain the hidden, always hidden, hand of Brusselles is active in Ukraine.
In a situation like this and considering the economy, another revolution may be just around the corner. Another Maidan or a military coup and a power struggle between some of those mentioned above. I wouldn’t be surprised if Washington simply installs a general or if some general installs himself. Or Kolomoisky?
No, I didn’t forget Russia. A man like Putin coming to power in Kiev can save his country. In a time of anarchy, a strong man usually emerges and I hope for the right man. Someone with some sense.
The drama is far from over. We look at Novorossiya and its plight. We must also look at the country of which it is still a part.
The present rulers will fall and one of the reasons is the lies coming out of Kiev. Many of us on this blog, who live far from Ukraine, can see the rulers are insane. A mirror of their Western masters. We can see it and some Ukrainians also can.
The bamboo grows invisibly for years and suddenly there is a whole forest, where there was none before. Doubts and misgivings grow among many in Ukraine and one day it will all come to the surface. A similar process takes place on the net worldwide. We don’t trust our leaders as we did in the past. There will be change, but it will not come without sorrows.

Yahoo! News is probably going to suspend comments soon, as this is typical of a rather confused thread no doubt filled with Drudge Report readers since it was Drudge’s top headline before the indictment of the Governor of Texas. A lot of Americans, particularly anti-Establishment Americans left and right, think Kiev is ‘all hat and no cattle’:
Compass 2 hours ago
Ok what British journalists? Where was this? What time? Where are the pictures? Are the Brits that inept now? Poroshenko called Cameron and said that Ukraine had destroyed an armored column. Great which artillery, which city? What part of the border? Come on! Could it have been a Ukrainian column returning from a recon in force over the border? and Stonewall Jackson incident occurred. This Confederate general was shot by his own troops while returning from a recon patrol of the Union lines. The fog of war. Well if this happened you can be sure we will never here about it. We can’t even hear about MH-17. It has turned into a black hole
If the humanitarian convoy is so dangerous, take it apart bag by bag and spread it out. Again if nothing is found, Ukraine looks foolish, so they really do not want to inspect. It is much easier to work with innuendo and suspicion with imagined spectres and “lions and tigers and bears, oh no!”
One thing is for sure, that this humanitarian convoy could play the role of Arch-Duke Ferdinand who was assassinated in Sarajevo, and was the start of WW I.
A lot of Americans are clearly more worried too about Ferguson, MO being a spark for rioting/unrest nationwide or being exploited as a pretext for martial law, or about the stock market tanking to come back to planet Earth’s real economy than they are about Ukraine.
1 of 2 @ olive green “Are they still trying to finish the whole thing by 24 August (Ukrainian Independence Day)? Or are they running out of money at lightning speed? Or are they afraid of the coming autumn? Or all of the above?” I’d say all of the above.
As Saker knows being a former staff guy several governments have developed long-term forecasting which can moderately predict the weather with some success 2 to 3 months out. The technology and techniques have already been commercialized for farmers to plan planting and commodity hedgers to plan their bets since computing power made better models possible in the late 1970s/early 1980s.
The science of ‘short term climatology/long term forecasting’ has been developing in the USA, USSR, and Europe since World War II when lengthier forecasting became critical for timing things like the D-Day landings and Operation Bagration, huge logistical enterprises that could be impacted by weather. Hell those nitwits at Stratfor are still talking about the muddy season which bogged down Hitler’s Wehrmacht and their advance on Moscow in October 1941, so the coming cold weather is a factor. But not necessarily in the sense that people think.
The coming winter (and I’m sure the long term forecasters that advise the Pentagon who in turn advise the Ukrainian military) has 4 easily foreseeable effects. Please note that the whole Northern Hemisphere has observed a cooling effect though it isn’t clear yet whether brutal winters will become the norm more in Europe or North America, last winter was long but mostly mild across Europe while the USA got pummeled with snow and the most extreme cold the Continental United States had seen since the early 1970s.
1) The destroyed housing stock and central gas heating infrastructure of Eastern Ukraine’s towns and cities, on top of Ukraine having no gas anyway from Russia, could make the current outflow of refugees seem like a trickle in comparison. I mean we could see a million Ukrainians flee the Donbas for Russia. On paper this sounds like the junta is achieving its ethnic cleansing objectives without the messiness of going house to house screaming ‘raus’ to make way for the Galician master race as in Slovyiansk.
2) But wait, there’s something the Donbas might have that large swathes of Banderastan won’t — propane. Especially the closer Donbas people are to the Russian border and clear lines of supply hopefully secured by the NAF, the better their propane heating situation will be, ditto for coal-fired stoves if the mines don’t all get bombed or destroyed with junta arty strikes before winter.
@ olive green 2/3
3) I would say the natural tendency of tankers and armored vehicle operators on both sides to idle engines to stay warm will lead to both sides consuming more fuel. This again should be to the advantage of the NAF because their supply lines for diesel to Russia will be considerably shorter than the junta’s troops will be to their ‘safe’ rear areas. The NAF may not be able to organize a large winter offensive without obvious cross border help and fuel trucks from Russia. But the Ukies having already experienced chronic fuel shortages will find themselves losing their advantage of mobility, making fighting retreats even more difficult and the prospect of encirclement in ‘mini-Cauldrons’ greater.
The Wehrmacht in particular struggled with running out fuel or burning too much fuel just to keep their tank cannons and machine guns from freezing up during the brutal winter of 41-42. It was a major reason their attack on Moscow failed. Since again the Ukies rely more on their armor while the NAF rely on mobile light-footed infantry and quick arty strikes to attack, I would say slight advantage to NAF while the Ukies as with the Wehrmacht in 1941-42 will be begging the home front for warm coats and socks!
The more brutal the winter the worse for the civilians and soldiers on both sides, but on balance I would say winter is the NAF and Russia’s ally because:
4) As one Ukrainian MP said this week, Ukrainians better get used to chopping wood and prepare their woodpiles, because Kiev’s claims to have stored up enough gas to keep the people warm are fraudulent. In a normal less corrupt country not under a regime of psychopaths and pathological liars the ‘there’s enough gas’ claims could be believed, but you’d better believe with the rationing already underway across Ukraine that some towns if not regional capitals such as Zaporozhe or Nykolaev will be out of natural gas by the end of November! The impact of natural gas outages on a massive scale across the country cannot be entirely predicted with certainty, but it’s certain the regime will try to funnel the trickle of gas it gets from reverse flow via Slovakia and emergency funding from the EU to the loyalist capitals of Lviv and Kiev, leaving much of the rest of the country in the cold. I expect rioting to break out in the far west TransCarpathia with Rusyns and ethnic Hungarians holding up signs begging Hungary’s President to send them emergency propane or coal shipments.
Meanwhile in the Far East and south outside of the mild Black Sea and Sea of Azov towns the situation will be less explosive but still dangerous for the junta due to anger over the draft in those places. Mariupol in particular is only kept from exploding due to sheer terror — if the Nazis occupying that town suffer heavy losses in battle or the NAF steps up their partisan activities behind Ukie lines and Russia supplies the arms and fighters via sea we could see a Warsaw Ghetto-type uprising in Mariupol this winter with a whole lot of Nazis dying in bloody urban combat or getting ambushed outside of the town with the roadways becoming IED/ambush infested no go zones for terrified Ukie conscripts and Nazi fighters.
@ olive green 3/3
As the fighting continues through October and as the fateful ‘first snow’ falls on Novorossiya around October 15, I’m sure Saker being aware of these facts and the military history regarding Russia’s successful winter offensives and counteroffensives will do a post on these themes.
But the $64,000 question remains: will the Ukie soldiers keep fighting when their supply situation becomes truly grim this winter as fuel is in desperately short supply, their winter quarters (apartments confiscated or seized from absent refugees) inadequate or unheated due to the nationwide gas shortage, and facing rumors or even confirmed reports of heating and anti-draft riots back in their hometowns?
I believe this ‘mid-winter collapse’ scenario is PRECISELY what Putin and his general staff are counting on to defeat the junta by the one year anniversary of the ‘Heavenly Hundred’ false flag coup removal of Yanukovich on February 21-22. The NAF’s task then is to gain ground and decisively beat back the assaults on Donetsk and Luhansk now, forcing a general Ukie retreat to more secure lines to protect Slovyiansk, Kramatorsk, Mariupol and Izyum on the road to Kharkov. This way the NAF can dig in, establish mobile and well-fueled armored reserves, re-equip all front line units with winter gear and greater stocks of anti-tank missiles plus MANPADs, and sow minefields that will limit or hinder future Ukie assaults until an exhausted and demoralized Ukrainian military forces Kiev to sue for peace or get overthrown in February. Also by mid-winter to early spring the EU and USA’s economic problems will reach a boiling point with anti-austerity rioting possible in the EU’s southern tier from Portugal to Greece and EU member states like Hungary or France turning openly hostile to the Atlanticist bloc.
It is not important if Kiev or Putin wants peace or war.The City of London banksters(broken)has DECIDED to go ahead with one HOT war in Europe and this at any price.Washington neocons are just puppets and bring the logistic in human and tech)and the MSM show.
They pretty don’t care one second about Ukraine or the ukrainians being from Kiev or the Donbass, nazis or not.
Even the fracking business for J Biden ‘son is not important.Sanctions, civilian deaths don’t matter.
The problem for UK banksters is the BRIC,to keep the petrodollar going forever and their debt slavery.
Imf of Fed printing is zero problem, they will print any amount necessary to keep Ukraine alive.
The only target is Russia(Putin or another one even an atlantist fith column guy is irrelevant).
They just want Russia, then to seize the oil and gas, devide the country in smaller ones as they are doing now in the ME for Israel.
Then after Russia down, the will have an agreement with China, and all remaining former BRICS will do it more like ‘low profile’and forget about their plans.
They want World domination,all ressources.
These people are crazy satanists.
They are not human beings.
Why do you you think we have all these events coming from the UK?Guardian,Telegraph MI6 papers,BBC MI6 tv station…
The Us will be paid by the UK for their ‘military services’,when all NATO countries will announce 4 and 5th of sept in Wales that they MUST increase their military budget at 2 pct of their GDP.All profits will go to the US military complex.
The City and his subsidiary (WS)need a big event to let the people from the west accept the next financial crisis 2.0(10 times worst than in 2008)which will start very soon as all UE/NATO countries are broken in quadrillions of debts they will never repay.Putin konws that of course,he is preparing for war to save mother Russia.
The IMF will seize money on bank accounts to pay the banksters back(as in Cyprus).
Stocks will fall more than 60 pct.
Massive unemployment,poverty,social riots will follow.
They need someone(Putin)and a fake ‘ennemy’ (Russia)to divert attention.
It is all about the City of London AZ.
War will happen when and where they decide it.
If necessary they will proceed with as many false flags as necessary to achieve their goal.
It ‘has been’ decided.

Why was the bus ambush of the Right Sektor considered foolish?
Anonymous 23:48,
Yes!!! Oh, yes. Right now there’s just so much at stake for so many people all over the world, not just in Ukraine. And all the other divisions between us, however strongly we feel about them, are still so very, very small in comparison to the unbreachable gulf between us and TPTB. That, really, is the only thing that truly matters. People either care about other people, or they don’t, period. Thank you.
Anunnaki,
I think it wasn’t the ambush itself that was considered foolish, it was the Pravy Sektor bus running right into it. Not just bullies, not just cowards, but seriously stupid as well.

Funny and educating with original paper clips:

And it helps to know there were TWO holocausts of 6 mln; In both World wars; But No 6 is important!!! Otherwise the ‘prophecy’ about return to Palestine would not work as well, as it did…

“Why was the bus ambush of the Right Sektor considered foolish?”
It’s just a translation glitch. What was foolish is that they were lost and travelling in a bus in enemy territory. It was a mistake and not a military operation.
I think the next few days will bring a dramatic turn of events but i don’t know in which direction.
1) Personally i originally took the humanitarian convoy as a sign that things were going very badly with the rebels, that Donetsk could fall and Putin was trying to buy time.
but on the other hand
2) It seemed strange to me that the oligarchs in Kiev were relying so much on indiscriminate shelling – particularly the use of ballistic missiles and phosphorus.
If they were confident they were winning it didn’t make sense. It was more the act of a force that was getting desperate.
It might be wishful thinking but now with the collapse of most of southern cauldron and the militia having much shorter lines I really wonder if we might be about to see a dramatic turn around in the next few days – and pretty much the exact opposite of what i was expecting a few days ago.
1)If you don’t understand the concept of “order out of chaos,” then you’ll never understand a thing.
Engineered chaos serves several purposes. It provides distraction and cover for the elites to implement other plans that they would rather not have noticed.
It also provides a scapegoat for the masses, who are now divided against each other. When violent changes are implemented that produce destructive consequences, the people must be placated with an easily identifiable villain. Certain changes globalists wish to make in the way the world functions require the careful exploitation of scapegoats.
For example, the globalists at the IMF have been discussing the establishment of a global basket currency for years to replace the U.S. dollar.
Russia and the East have also, conveniently, been calling for the IMF to replace the dollar with their Special Drawing Rights basket.
And finally, as well as conveniently, the elites in the U.S. government have launched a controlled coup in Ukraine and initiated direct economic confrontation with Russia, thereby giving the East the perfect excuse to dump the U.S. dollar as world reserve and replace it with a basket currency system under the IMF. Despite claims that Vladimir Putin is “anti-globalist,” the Russian is in fact an avid supporter of the IMF, and has stated his goal is to continue Russia’s IMF membership in a larger capacity:
“In the BRICS case we see a whole set of coinciding strategic interests. First of all, this is the common intention to reform the international monetary and financial system. In the present form it is unjust to the BRICS countries and to new economies in general. We should take a more active part in the IMF and the World Bank’s decision-making system. The international monetary system itself depends a lot on the US dollar, or, to be precise, on the monetary and financial policy of the US authorities. The BRICS countries want to change this.”
Yes, Vladimir, and so do the manipulative social engineers at the IMF…
2)Yes, Vladimir, and so do the manipulative social engineers at the IMF…
Hopefully, you have the sense to see how this works: problem, reaction, solution. Economic or physical war is launched between East and West, while the dollar is killed in the process. The masses react by demanding a fair and balanced replacement for the dollar as world reserve so that economic stability can return. The Americans blame Russia and the East for their fiscal misfortune. The East blames the hubris of the West for its own downfall. Neither side blames the banksters, who started the whole calamity to begin with. And the elites swoop in as saviors with a new Bretton Woods-style agreement to appease all sides and cement their global currency system, the system they had always wanted. And with a global economic currency and authority in place, global governance is not far behind — order out of chaos.
This process is more psychological than political in its goals. One could argue that if the elites already have control of all central banks and governments, then why do they need a global government? The answer is that these men do not want secret global governance, they want open global governance. They want us to ACCEPT the idea as a fact of existence, for only when we agree to participate in the lie will they then have truly won.
The end result of World War I was the creation of the League of Nations and the argument that sovereignty leads to disunion and catastrophe. World War II led to the creation of the United Nations and the International Monetary Fund. I believe that a third world war is nearly upon us, one that may involve weapons of monetary destruction more so than weapons of mass destruction. Each supposed disintegration of global unity has eventually led to greater centralization, and this is something the skeptics seem to forget. The progression of crises suggests that the next war will lead to total globalization under the dominance of a minority of elitists posing as “wise men” who only wish to bring peace and harmony to the masses. In the meantime, the skeptics will continue to mindlessly debate in the face of all reason that the whole thing was a fluke, an act of random mathematical chance, leading coincidentally to the one thing the establishment rulers crave: total global totalitarian micromanagement.

When the seizure of Ukraine by the west did not go as planned you can only say that the reaction of the western elites was to go batshit crazy. I mean seriously, dropping in weaponry (I’m looking at you Poland and Canada), military mercs, US soldiers/advisers and who else Christ only knows.
I have a theory as to why this is so and it goes like this. If you were involved in the Ukraine coup, wouldn’t you want to make some money along the way? For all your hard work? In fact, wouldn’t you and your friends put down some serious money to profit from all these events which you were making happen?
It could be some elites stand to seriously get financially shat on if the whole enterprise goes belly up and I am talking some serious money here. Losing the Crimea meant losing not only the contracts for turning the place into a NATO base but all those off-shore hydrocarbons. Losing the east means all those hydrocarbons as well. It cannot be allowed! Hence that might explain all this hyper-reaction. Sounds possible?
Espina i share your concern in this matter. However even the main warmonger – the ussa, is reticent to proclaim that it was a RU military group. IMO this is somewhat telling in that Porky may be losing more and more credibility with his keepers; Kiew is more nazi-minded than imagined and not predictable ie not handleable and the EU members of NATO may not be willing to participate in a war against RU (anyone hear from the Poles, lately?) and the vaunted Guardian news service along with the BBC et al has been shown to be presstitutes for the western junta. RU food sanctions are biting deep and there are more sanctions on the table. UK may scream but it is only a fart in the wind. Merkel may menace but the next round of sanctions (industrial) will stop DE dead in its tracks. I sense that the RU – EU honeymoon is over. China is weighing in, gently, but emphatically. False flags, IMO are dead in the water. They have been used too often and are not effective. Even the ussa is seeing that.

“for this purpose this blog and most on this side and the other is not helping.
we need a format where left and right / religous and not – with all their major difference – accept a truce. and we talk (in person).
“
so what do you propose? what kind of a format? who is not accepting a truce? what do you think this blog should do? who should talk in person?
why not start by reviewing the multitude of press releases on itar.tass for example of the various meetings held and canceled and stonewalled and postponed etc etc. even the trolls on this blog are talking. lol

It could be that your theory were true, or not, who knows …..
Honestly, I follow V.V.Putin since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, and since he began to be demonized by the media and the USA, but really I can not read or hear everything he says, it’s impossible for me.
In principle, because of the fact that he was demonized by USA, I automatically did his part, but an unreasonable way, I guess. Then in the Ukrainian crisis, I’m blindly on his side, because I’m always in front of fascism, and what is happening there seems to me a shame to humanity.
While there are things he does I do not understand, the fact that, unlike those in power in the West, has redistributed some wealth accumulated by the oligarchs for decades, increasing the standard of living of the Russians and sensibly reduced poverty levels in his country, makes me, as I imagine, many, trust he is another type of person, and he is with his people.
Know about his humble origins also made me hope for he standing for his people.
Just recently I started to tell me about his life, his rise to power and how he dealt with the oligarchs.
The other day I saw a documentary on Luzkhov, and even considering that it was a documentary for the BBC, I can not understand why he was before against him and then supported him.
Nor will I understand that what I expected it to be a process of empowerment of ordinary people in Novorrusia in their fight against a fascist government, can not lead to the birth of the People’s Republic, or what the people decides, because of whatever deals with some oligarch like Akhmetov.
The people of the world want change, change towards a better life and peace for all, not just for a few, more freedom and respect for our rights as human beings.
If Putin is with us, is welcome, so glad, and it seems a very capable person. If not, he will have us in front, like the others, be quiet.
Fortunately, we have a critical mind, we do not buy any hoax, perhaps at first we can be deceived, inexplicably still maintain some innocence, but not in the long run.
For now, V.V.Putin has a vote of confidence. We have years, God willing, to observe their movements.
Anonymous 23:43 (15.8),
“Dr Igor Sutyagin, Research Fellow in Russian Studies from the Royal United Services Institute, believes that MH17 was shot down by rebels based in the 3rd District of Torez, in eastern Ukraine, after mistaking his plane for a government military transport aircraft.”
That theory is so flawed in sooo many ways.
Personnaly im getting fed up with mh17.
So many civilians are murdered by kiev, and the west ignores it.
When a civilian plane gets shot down with westerners who stupidly fly over a hot warzone, then full drama from west is on.
And they point fingers with 0 evidences.
And the “Dr.idiot” you were refering to… Is just an easy pawn for the west.
And why has western media suddenly stopped caring about the plane after alot of evidences and info started to point towards kiev?
Why havent usa released any evidences yet? (They said they had absolute proofs 3 weeks ago. How long time do they need to fabricate evidences??). And usa with NSA and advanced satelites cant give any satelite images with other then old images with a colorpen on it?
Obviously the rebels could not have shot the plane from Torez, then the plane would have landed at russian border. (A plane doesnt fall directly down, it has speed).
And a buk missile has a clear smokefume-tail from when launched and untill it explodes, why are there not any witnesses telling about seeing that smoke-trail?
The large (almost round) bulletholes in the cockpitarea, doesnt resemble buk shrapnels. More proberly some kind of AA weapon.
And why did ukr gov not release the AirController data? Why confiscate it and hide it.
And etc etc etc.

Thanks for your links – this subject is indeed new for me. But like everything associated with AZ it is just lies, lies and always more lies and subversion. We can only inform ourselves and sometimes spread the message – but as Machiavel already knew, touching the hoi polloi is not easy. A site like Saker’s is a godsend here.

Brandon Martinez’s article (http://www.veteransnewsnow.com/2014/01/17/401529-zionist-perversion-of-history-threatens-world-peace/ ) is accurate save that he doesn’t actually emphasise that there was NO Holocaust. The Holocaust is a total fabrication and a Blood Libel of the German nation and until humanity understands that there will be no peace on this planet.
Even the revised Jewish death figures are a gross exaggeration. The official records from the INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS (ICRC) state that a total of 271,304 Jews died in the German Concentration camps. The German records show that 117 Jews were executed at Auschwitz & that Most Jews died of disease, with about 2000 dying of natural causes, No doubt inadequate food and medical supplies due to Allied bombing towards the end of WWII contributed to those results.
Arguably the Jews made it through WWII in good shape compared to Germans and others. Some 20 million Germans were genocided during and after WWII and some 26 million Russians are said to have died also. In effect Jews received preferential treatment during WWII. A total of 271,304 Jews dying is a much smaller percentage death rate than experienced by Germans and Russians. The official records from the INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS (ICRC) prove that the “HOLOCAUST” was a fraud. See: http://abundanthope.net/pages/Political_Information_43/OFFICIAL-RECORDS-FROM-INTERNATIONAL-RED-CROSS-PROVE-HOLOCAUST-WAS-A-FRAUD—Repost
See also: http://abundanthope.net/pages/Political_Information_43/Jews-Given-Preferential-Treatment-During-WW-II-Holocaust-Not-Possible.shtml.
It should be noted that in the German camps & the Warsaw Ghetto Jews were generally supervised by other Jews NOT Germans. The ICRC said Jews were detained in concentration camps as enemy aliens whose presence was considered a danger to the State or the occupation forces. (Vol. 111, p. 73). Germany gave the ICRC access to civilian internees held in Central and Western Europe. Similar access was not given to civilian and military internees held in the USSR where conditions were known to be far worse.
The ICRC praised the liberal conditions that prevailed at Theresienstadt “where there were about 40,000 Jews deported from various countries was a relatively privileged ghetto” (Vol. III, p. 75). “‘The Committee’s delegates were able to visit the camp at Theresienstadt (Terezin) which was used exclusively for Jews and was governed by special conditions. The Germans wished to give the Jews the means of setting up a communal life in a town under their own administration and possessing almost complete autonomy. . . two delegates visited Theresienstadt on April 6th, 1945 and confirmed the favourable impression gained on the first visit” (Vol. I, p . 642).
Charles Biedermann (a delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross and Director of the Red Cross’ International Tracing Service) agreed under oath at the Zündel Trial (February 9, 10, 11 and 12, 1988) that the information in the ICRC report was accurate.
Germany has been enslaved by Jews utilising the US military ever since May 1945. See eg: The Federal Republic of Germany, A Rothschildian Financial Agency See: http://abundanthope.net/pages/Political_Information_43/The-Federal-Republic-of-Germany-A-Rothschildian-Financial-Agency.shtml
