On October 20th, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that Russian Aerospace Defense Forces have carried out more than 40,000 flights, including 21,000 nighttime ones over the course of the operation in Syria. These have resulted in approximately 122,000 strikes on terrorist facilities. Furthermore, about 87,500 terrorists were eliminated and over 1,411 settlements were liberated as a result of the operations.
More than 2,500 settlements have joined the reconciliation process as a result of the Russian reconciliation center’s efforts. According to Shoigu special attention is being paid to resolving humanitarian issues.
On the same day, after long negotiations and as a result of the siege on al-Safa, Syrian authorities freed six hostages, all of whom were abducted by ISIS during an attack in July. The governor the Sweida region Amer al-Ashi said that numerous terrorists were killed in the operation that lasted more than 83 days, following the ISIS attack.
Syrian state news agency Sana also on October 20th reported that US-led international coalition killed at least 62 civilians in three new airstrikes on the villages al-Suseh and al-Bubadran in al-Bukmal region in Deir Ezzor. Out of the victims, 15, mostly children and women were killed in al-Suseh. 37 civilians were killed in an airstrike on the Othman bin Affan mosque in the eastern Deir Ezzor province. The final 10 were killed after an airstrike on the Ammar bin Yasser mosque in the village of al-Boubadran. According to local sources there were many wounded, claiming that the death toll might rise due to numerous serious injuries.
In the Euphrates Valley, the remaining ISIS militants launched more attacks on Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Five suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices and dozens of fighters of the terrorist group attacked positions of the SDF north of the town of al-Baghuz al-Fawqani. The US-backed forces destroyed the vehicles and recaptured a position they had previously controlled. The SDF media center claimed that more than 31 ISIS fighters were killed in the clashes.
The Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides reported that the ceasefire was violated by unknown assailants who shelled several government-held areas in the Aleppo and Latakia governorates on October 19th. Militants are constantly violating the ceasefire in apparent attempts to sabotage the Russian-Turkish brokered deal. Earlier, the timeline of the demilitarized zone implementation was extended in an attempt to salvage it. Nonetheless, there are still significant problems with forcing radical militant groups to respect the ceasefire.
Finally, new satellite images released on October 20th showed that Russian forces are constructing 18 hardened aircraft shelters in the Hmeimim airbase in Lattakia. A local Syrian source reported that the construction of the shelters began more than a month ago. The images also show that the air base currently holds nine Su-24, four Su-34, four Su-35 warplanes. It also contains several reconnaissance and patrol aircraft.
Meanwhile, America coddles and arms jihadist terrorists in Syria, Libya, and elsewhere in Eurasia.
By now, it should be obvious who is really fighting terrorism (Russia and its allies) and who is guilty of sponsoring terrorism even as it pimps itself as the leader of the War on Terror since 9-11 (I’m looking at you, America).
It is only obvious that that there is, relatively, low level continuous war all while the global MIC flourishes..
Russia is killing terrorists. America, on the other hand, is succoring, training, and arming them.
This is the dirty secret that most American propagandists simply cannot bring themselves to admit and spindoctor away with weasel words like … the “global” MIC.
One man’s terrorist is another’s freedom fighter https://globalanticorruptionblog.com/2017/02/06/the-role-of-corruption-in-the-syrian-civil-war/
It is, all about money.
As an European living part-time in the USA I can tell you that many Americans are aware that their government is exporting terrorism, and are deeply ashamed of it.
Florida pensioners, Alabama rednecks and Seattle radicals all loathe and distrust their government. Many of them are quite aware that the republic and any vestige of representative democracy has been replaced by corporatism, and they are very unhappy about it
Trump is the great destabilizer, and may be the harbinger – unlikely as it may seem – of better times.
(This first part is way off topic. I apologize.)
It is apparent that Trump is a destabilizer of the corporate stranglehold, but I do not think he is the ‘great destabilizer’ that we could have had. Recall that during the 2016 election and shortly after, although most of the Deep State seemed to be against him, there was a small faction that gave him support.
We are at the end of a third great cycle, the first being from the revolt against King George to War Between the States, and the second ending with the Great Depression. Given the deep distrust of our government by the sector of population that earns based on output, as opposed to salaried corporate and government workers, it would have been possible for a true populist to have won the election against HRC. Thus, Trump served as a safety valve in the role of populist-light and forestalled that result.
Enter world politics. I think other nations capable of independent actions, which precludes Europe, may be gently tipping us in a direction where economic woes make it possible for a true populist to emerge. Who it might be, I have no clue, but Trump only disrupts enough to get by. When the real guy gets here, everything will change. For the better or for the worse – I have no clue. I think we have five or maybe ten more years of business as usual.
(now back to topic)
Given the total control Deep State has over our foreign policy, I do not think an American President can stop the exportation of terrorism and chaos to other nations until we elect a true populist, because as the commenter stated, most of us (Americans) who understand what our country does overseas are ashamed of the hypocrisy and lawlessness.
In summary, yes the US exports terrorism with the aid of KSA et al, but that dynamic may be breaking.
I have a special fondness for all things Syrian and it saddens me to see how much the ancient country has been abused. By the same token, with the help of RF, Iran and Hezbollah, it is interesting to note that Syria may become the anvil upon which the AZE was first broken. At least, that is my hope.
They should be more than ashamed. They are responsible for what their elected government does. Ah yes the system is broken than do a revolution iran Venezuela cuba china bloody did! And with lesser resources and a less ‘educated’ population.
As long as the west population doesnt man up to what they are responsible for nothing is going to change. Than the logical conclusion is that a) the 4centuries of brutal colonialism have changed things fomdamentaly in their psyche and now subconsciously or consciously think that they can get away with everything without losing their toys(ironic when they are unknowingly slaves and canon fodder for zios) or b) they dont care and they are kidding themselves trying so hard to hold on to a moral high ground they never had in the first place
