You know, when all this carp is over and Europe wants to do business with Russia again, it would be really funny if Russia said, “Sure, we’ll sell you gas, oil, and everything else, but you have to pay 30% extra.” Just to rub it in, like.
I wouldn’t know. Many of Putin’s, Lavrov’s and Zakharova’s speeches imply an awareness in the Kremlin that the European elites responsible for this mess are selected by, and take their orders from, Washington DC (USA) (and maybe London (England) too, I dunno). I do agree with your addendum about the USA, since they were are the ones pulling the strings.
I have an acquaintance, Polish American, who is rabidly anti-Russian.
In fact, although we live in the same small town, she doesn’t even nod to me when we pass in the street, or say hello at the beach, because I made the “mistake” of mentioning something positive about Russia.
So, in my limited experience, Poles REALLY know how to carry a grudge.
Plus, they have a combination superiority-inferiority complex.
Taffy, it’s not only in small towns that some people cut you dead for not following their line. In the big world of Politics and Public Opinion there is now more censorship and “burying” of alternative news sites on the internet. The modern phrase “Cancel Culture” fits this mentality. In my native South Africa we used to call such a mind-set “Verblinkte” (wearing blinkers like a horse so you can only see in one direction).
Well i wish they would carry a grudge against the German and Ukrainian Nazis, the Germans slaughtered six million Poles and reduced Cities like Warsaw to total rubble.
I’m of the generation that was raised by the generation that went through World war II firsthand. And while my parents experienced WWII from the German side and would be considered “enemies” by many engaged with this blog if it were back in that time of war, what I found was that over the years everybody in Europe no matter what side they were on, or what nation they were from, and those in other parts of the world that experienced war, was that all knew war to be a no good thing that is to be avoided at all costs. To strongly say “No” to war is how I was raised, and I find that also true with about everyone from my generation who were raised by parents who have experienced war no matter what nation or nationality they were from. That was the common ground for a greater European community irrespective of being from “east” or “west”, or whereever. I see that common ground, that common sense, evaporating. I wonder how much of this Ukraine thing is being driven, and promoted by younger generations who have no sense for what war actually is?
I agree. My grandmother experienced ww2. As a kid I learned not to mention Germany. That would start a flood from her that didn’t stop. And then it was all the rest from that period in time. The pure Arian race…
The younger generations can not relate. Unfortunately. My own son told me that he could not relate… I tried to tell him… And I think that is the core of how the west has evolved. The younger generations “can not relate”.
In Russia it seems they can relate.
Yes, we had acommon ground in Europe after the war. I liked that very much.
The War Guilt Clause in the treaties of WWI is one of the major reasons for WWII. By 1928 Hitler was a non entity but the economic crisis that hit Germany due to the depression brought on by the stock market crash created by Capitalist free hand economic mess the Germans linked this to the War Guilt Clause and Hitler had the answers blame the Treaty of Versailles. Zelensky minus the comb mustache is following in his steps. Blame Russia for the Ukrainian corruption, crime, and economic decline from one of the top 10 economies in Europe to one of the worst in the world and that is before the war. Zelensky is a great student of Gobbles and EU masters the grandkids of the Nazis are his teachers so what can one expect. https://fair.org/home/facebook-protects-nazis-to-protect-ukraine-proxy-war/
I’m afraid they are trying to run the pre-WW2 script one more time on Europe.
This time : Blame the Russians.
It is a notable difference from previous conflicts where you would have had the line : “It is not the Russian people we have a problem with, it is the evil dictator Putin. We wish you all the best and will bring you freedom and democracy”.
This time around it is the Russian people & Putin that is the problem. Ordinary Russians refused entry into EU.
One must ask what are we defending? Our homeless people, our poor, our unemployed, our drug lords?
We defend our old retired people who search garbage bins for food?
What is wrong with oeople? I don’t know.
I can easily argue that we live in hell. And we are defending our hell?
It is very fitting that we have 27 years old MP:s… ministers… easily manipulated.
Stoltenberg? In the 70s he was a long haired house occupant in Oslo.
2023 he dreams of conquering Russia. Daydreams? I wonder if he can sleep without medication?
Maidan was a result of several unsuccessful colour revolutions that USA sponsored. Nazi elements under CIA control instructing the Maidan terrorists to use terror which Western media glorified even when people were burned alive in Odessa. Once in power several unsuccessful attempts to seize DPR/LPR the Kiev Nazis resorted to terror against Donbas civilians . During eight years of continuing bombardment by heavy artillery almost 14,000 civilians were killed and tens of thousands were maimed. The infrastructure was severely damaged.
Throughout the long eight years the European countries and the USA looked on the genocide of the Russian people in Donbass with extreme equanimity, thus effectively justifying the actions of the Kiev regime.
We see Western hypocrisy in the media every day including today when Google did not allow acess to this site. The western media ignored the fact that the Ukrainian military use of civilians as human shields has become the standard practice of the western media to call them “freedom fighters.”

and +60% for the USers.

The 500k numbers was quoted a few days ago from a ukrainian defence source then repeated enough to now be the number everyone accepts.
I have friends from Poland and no one has a beef with Russia – its the horrible goverment – in every country

They are defending their ideology, their (failed) eugenics experiment, and the land(s) that go with it.

The vast overwhelming majority of Americans do not care about the slaughter of God’s children that they pay to execute.
These people (Americans) have the power to stop the war/death machine but refuse to do so.
Inaction is action.
