Dear friends,
I am frankly exhausted by the last few days in which I have used all my (so-called) “free time” to parse through the immense stream of often contradictory information coming out of the Ukraine while trying to make sense of it all. I really would need a few days to take care of personal and family issues which I have neglected. So for the next couple of days, and unless something really big happens, I will take some time off from blogging and answering emails and I hope to be back with a fresher head on Monday morning.
In the meanwhile, please feel free to use the comments section under my latest post as a “free for all” to discuss any ideas you want, to exchange views, to convey information – whatever. Please remember that there is no such thing as “off-topic” on this blog :-)
I thank you all for the information you have been sending me and for your kind words of encouragement.
Kind regards,
The Saker
Thumbs up Saker! That’s exactly the right idea to do for everybody trying to follow the speeding up world these days… Each one of us needs desperately some kind of balance, while the turbulences shake this world around and each time stronger. I personally have a huge desire for knowledge and understanding, which always gives me more complex and richer experience of the life itself and surrounding events. But sometimes I get a feeling, I’m living some kind of weird “global life” instead of enjoying my personal experiences and potential in the given time. So IMHO it’s really a healthy idea to get some distance & “reality landing” outside of this neverending and speeding roller-coaster…
Take care & try to enjoy the simple & beautiful phenomenons of Life! :)
All right, but give a glimpse to your tv and to what is going on! We still don’t know how those developments will evolve..
Meanwhile, you can watch this:http://niqnaq.wordpress.com/2014/02/21/i-am-a-ukrainian-yes-i-am-la-la-la/

Dear Saker,
I feel exactly the same. Actually in some ways I am relieved it’s all over so that we can now talk about other things. Have a really good and richly deserved rest.
This is my first comment here; I discovered your blog a few weeks ago, and read it only occasionally, but during the last few days, I’ve been reading both your commentaries on the Ukraine situation and going back through some of your earlier postings. Frankly, I’m tremendously impressed with the work you do, and the great amount of information and the very fair-minded commentary you provide, as well as the way you engage with those who comment and disagree with you. So thank you very, very much.
I hope you enjoy your respite, and I’ll be looking forward to your return. In the meantime, I plan to go back more systematically through the archives, from which I’m now getting a very useful education on the part of the world you cover. Once again, thank you.

Also very impressed by Saker’s writings.
This is one of the best articles about Russia I have read anywhere;

Bon repos Saker — tu l’as bien mérité!
Lenta.ru is reporting (http://lenta.ru/news/2014/02/22/harkov/) that Prsident Yanukovich flew to Kharkov tonight, based on reports from the ZN news service and the publication Khvilya. You can drill down to the articles in Lenta. One article in particular is worth reading through (http://hvylya.org/news/exclusive/viktor-yanukovich-v-harkove-sdelaet-zayavlenie-o-raskole-ukrainyi.html), reporting that the more military-capable security and Army units were moved to the South-East beginning Feb. 17. The article says 17 busloads from the Right Sector are allegedly heading to Kharkov, but they might be Titushky. As you can see, the article is titled: “Vikto Yankuvich in Karkov will declare the division of the Ukraine.” The plot thickens.
@”the Ukraine in NATO?…it would remove the last remnants of the historical Ukraine and replaced it with something like an ‘eastern-rite Poland’ or a ‘bigger Latvia’: basically a giant US protectorate on the Eurasian landmass, with a few “Camp Bondsteels” thrown in. On a social and cultural level, it would really crown the complete subordination of the Ukraine to Uncle Sam and its nationalist minions in the western Ukraine”.
This is the most credible scenario of what is due to happen. Except that I doubt that the “minions” would be the hapless nationalists. There would be the “Khazars”, the local ones and the “returning” ones, with the conniving of the “oligarchs” who love to be like Rothschild (Wen ikh bin a Rothschild, oye didl, didl, didl, dam!;www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUJcoWT_phQ). I would think that the nationalists served as “useful idiots”, “fellow travelers” who would be discarded first, if not blamed for the troubles and anihilated.
I think the target would still remain Russia and it is not implausible to celebrate the anniversary of 360 years since the Treaty of Pereyaslav by reactivating it!

I wish you a good weekend! Thanks for your brilliant work in this blog.
It Is Zionism Conquering Ukraine and Venezuela? – Morris Herman
Saker, thanks for all your sterling work on covering Ukraine – your blog is essential reading. Like one of the earlier commentators said, I’m also working more systematically through your archives and it’s fantastically impressive stuff. Have a very good, relaxing weekend.
The end goal has to be Russian destabilization and dismemberment for only piece by piece can this vast land be integrated into the control of the NWO. Open colonialism will replace Neo-Colonialism. First was Eastern Europe. Now the Ukraine.
Dude think about it!!!! They knew Putin was busy in Sochi. So they decided to launch this huge offensive.

Empire2/resistance 0
Empire stroke 2 points for its success for gathering enough mobs to block normal state functioning and for managing to prevent any reasonable standard reaction by authorities in a civil unrest situation.
What’s next? F*ck EU has a problem at hand (it has to choose between supporting banks or Ukraine) and neocons in Washington should be wandering how far they will go before things get out of hand (and by that I just mean a big, big problem with Russia). Let’s wait for the line of action from Russian side (I wouldn’t be surprised if Russia would make a move similar to the one in Georgia in 2008 – this move would be the best outcome in decades of The End of History…)
In the meantime, having velvet revolutions machinery very well lubrificated, the Empire attacks Venezuela and must be preparing new victims from its ire (and there are a few unsavory ones for its taste out there).
We may ask why Empire does all that shit around the world but I don’t think that their goal is clear enough – if we look, say, into Iraq or Afghanistan, we will see that they have shoot in their own feet , hey, but no problem, they just changed sides and now they fight whole heartily alongside sunni extremists…
Let’s wait for Putin’s gamble…

God bless you Saker. Enjoy your free time.
Thanks Saker for glimpses (well, sometimes full frontals) of the other side of the coin.
Their heartfelt passion is not always welcome, but they’re always appreciated for what they are – fair, and penetrating.
Cheers on a well earned respite. I fear it will be short, so I hope it’s a merry one.

I’m not supporting maidanists, but one can understand why he hasn’t got anymore support in Eastern Ukraine
It’s not just the offensives in Ukr & Vzla, it was a total smearing of Sochi.
In Dominican Republic an openly gay, married ambassador is causing a stir there in conflict with the catholic establishment.
In Central America hand picked mandarins to run Costa Rica and El Salvador.
The wresting away of the pacific rim southeren American nations from mercosur with the pacific alliance. The enabling of Japan to engage in open warfare. The empire is running offensives and plots everywhere. Obama is the face, the entourage of nasties is running shotgun with a vengeance.

The New Cold War | American Dissident Voices
“For about a decade now, a new Cold War has been brewing between the regime in Washington and Russia. But unlike the old Cold War, Russia no longer stands for Communism or world conquest, and America no longer stands for freedom. In many ways, the old roles have been reversed.”
Rest up Saker, this whole Ukraine situation shows that Assad took the right position. You can’t negotiate with these coup fanatics.
I have little faith that Yanukovich is as smart as Assad and Putin.
@Pour la Syrie
That’s not his private mansion, it’s the residence of the president of the Ukraine where the previous presidents resided as well.
Another thing is the ziomedia spin & the semi-imbecil population it is intended for.
A Serbian curse, uttered to the worst of enemies, says: “May your house be shown on ZNN & BBZ!”
Needless to say, I am not defending the lame duck, Yanukovich, by any means.
Had two Russian customers today. A young couple.
The man was tall and strong and very good looking and his companion pretty and polite. She wore a scarf and when I asked if they were from Russia they wanted to know what gave them away. They were not the regular tourist type.
She bought anklets, earrings and a ring. Then they came and bought some handicrafts too. Gave them a bigger discount than I give the locals cause of your blog.
Have a nice rest and be back soon.

What do you think of this? Is any of it accurate?

All the “revolutions” since the fall of Ceausescu displayed some common features, like the gilded taps of the bathrooms of the “dictators”, symbol of their corruption, and a mandatory reference to Marie-Antoinette (“let them eat cake”). I was waiting since the beginning of the Maidan the moment when the golden taps would show up. It took a long time, but eventually it happened. There were not gilded taps, but something gilded did show up nevertheless. The quotation from Marie-Antoinette was used creatively, adapted to the local conditions (to show that it was spontaneous). Here you are.
“Ukrainian president Yanukovich lived in lavish estate — with private zoo, exotic gardens and tall ships — while country suffered”
Ukrainian president Viktor F. Yanukovich surrounded himself like a king with menagerie of peacocks, elaborate baths, manicured gardens, a vast greenhouse packed with exotic flowers — and a garage packed with Rolls Royces and other exotic cars.
Let them eat borscht.
With a private menagerie full of preening peacocks and opulent ostriches, a car collection full-to-brimming with Rolls Royces, the private residence of embattled Ukrainian president Viktor F. Yanukovich mirrors that of French imperialist Marie Antoinette.
Opposition leaders have stormed Yanukovich’s residence, opening the lavish Swiss Chalet-style property to the public. Photos from the Mezhyhirya village estate reveal an existence out of touch from the rest of Kiev, from a lavish stone soaking tub to sprawling manicured gardens.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
But amid reports of opulance, at least one, a photo of a golden-tiled commode with lions adorned on each arm rest — claiming to be from the estate — does appear to be a hoax.
