Dear friends,
I just have to let you know that I am sick with a rather nasty flu so I will not post for a couple of days, nor will I reply to emails or comments. There might also be some delay in my clearing comments but I will try to keep that as short as I can. So – please! – keep the conversations going on any topic you want, under any posts here, including this one, and just consider this blog as yours and keep sharing your thoughts with each other. I will be back as soon as my head stops spinning :-)
Sorry about that and kind regards to you all,
The Saker
Saker:
Sometimes a megadose of Vitamin D helps to ward off an oncoming bout of flu. (6-8000 IUs per day.)
Get well!
Saker,
get better soon. :)
Feel better soon, Saker — we sympathize! Also consider vitamin C — it’s water-soluble and as long as you’re drinking plenty of fluids you can tolerate up to 1000 mg/hr, though even 1000 mg/day we have found really helpful with infections.
Get well soon, Saker. Try Orange Juice.
Get well soon saker. We miss you.
Get well soon saker. We miss you.
Get well soon saker. We miss you.
Try lemon tea with honey, it really helps (to me at least). Most important: Rest!
Get Well, Saker! Your absence is an immediate loss.
I have an excellent remedy for any flue apart from the stomach variety.
As soon as the first symptoms appear, and usually this happens in the evening, you have to take two doses of vitamin C. One just prior to going to bed and the other one two hours before that.
The size of one dose is 4000- 6000mg, depending on your body weight. Usually you are fit as a fiddle by next morning.
Holland & Barret are my favourite retailers.
Cold/flu virus activates when core body temperature drops 1 or 2 degrees, then multiplies in the nasal mucus. I never had flu for at least 10 years: the moment I sneeze or my nose start running, I don a beanie and jacket. I never sniff mucus but rather evacuate my nostrils. Every morning I sniff a mild luke-warm saline solution up my nostrils and evacuate. I am 60 and have not taken any medicine for decades!
Hope you’re feeling better soon. Here’s something you might enjoy reading while you’re recovering, though.

Dear Saker,
Very sorry to hear this. I have also been down for much of the last month with flu. It’s truly horrendous. Get well soon!

Saker!
Improvements!
Not much to recommend because, every body reacts differently to the many strains of the flu virus.
Get well soon, come back soon.
Alexandre.

@Saker: I hope you feel better soon.

Documentário fenomenal!
Grato!

Saker:
I’ll take you’re lying down and say a few things about the page:
1 – It’s too bad to have to log into Google, write in Portuguese, translated into English, and then posting (and hope that you release the review – not knowing if the fucking Google will translate right);
2 – Sometimes against censoring comments or endorsing something that said post away, I feel that if I had encountered before would have answered promptly resolving doubts;
3 – This system of “capcha” to insert comments is ridiculous, not everyone has the Norwegian keyboard.
I apologize increase your headache.
Sincerely.
Alexandre.
(Slaps the side of head)
I should have posted this yesterday as soon as you said you had the flu (or cold).
Cold-eeze.
Buy it at most any drugstore. It really, really, honest to goodness works.
It contains a low level of zinc bound in a form that makes it readily available to bind to viruses and nullify them.
Zinc is good for your immune system anyways. More than 100mg of zinc per day (for the average sized guy) will have the opposite affect and suppress the immune system. So I limit myself to 4 cold-eeze in any 24 hour period.
I take it immediately after I have been immersed in a crowd, such as attending a theatre.
Rarely get a cold or flu. (I do not get flu shots). This season I had one cold. It was so minor that it was barely there and was not sure if it was actually the first hint of allergy season.
Hope this helps. And this advise is good for anyone, not just The Saker.
Best wishes for a swift recovery! Take it easy in the meantime.
WISH YOU A QUICK RECOVERY
Dear Saker.
Hope you’re feeling better!
Take all good advice as above, lots of Vit C but NO flu shots!

Once you get well this might be something to bite in:

I hope you get well soon, drink lemon tea with a few drops of whisky!
That article at the DailyBeast referred to in comment 23, why would anyone want to comment on it? The article is empty nothing, a few photographs without reference points. No way to tell the time or physical location of the photos. One might as well post a picture of the WTC circa 1976 and say the photo proves the WTC were still standing on September 12th.
