Pepe Escobar for The Saker Blog
Picture yourself about to meet a girl with kaleidoscope eyes… No. Sorry. Actually picture merry lines of code in the R programming language – wallowing in a happy valley of game theory models which would not preclude Goth or New Romantic Walkyrie dancin’ to the 12-inch version of Bauhaus’s Bela Lugosi is Dead.
Imagine this reverie coming about because of a “pin!” in your inbox. After all you have just been presented with an astonishing piece of intel. You scramble to the exit, actually the entrance of the Magic Theater, where you ask, Keats-style, Was it a dream? Do I wake or sleep?
So what was the dream about? Oh, something so prosaic, so down to the nitty gritty geopolitics: what really happened during the visit of US Secretary of State Tony Blinken to Ukraine.
The great Andrei Martyanov has remarked that Blinken “told Kiev behind the scenes to ‘dial it down’, amidst the fluffy tropes about US concern for Ukraine’s ‘sovereignty’ and ‘security’”.
Well, looks like there was way more than fluffy tropes.
Leaked info on the closed-door meeting between Blinken and Comedian-in-Charge Zelensky is no less than incandescent. Blinken seemed to have read a no holds barred riot act.
Here are the guidelines. All Ukrainian state corporations must be controlled by the proverbial “foreign interests”. So board majorities must be either foreign or 5th columnists. The entire anti-corruption vertical drive must also be foreign-controlled. Same for the judicial system.
Andriy Kobolyev – an American asset – must be reinstated as head of Naftogaz. Zelensky moved mountains to get rid of Kobolyev.
Blinken demanded a massive push against every Ukrainian oligarch, so that huge chunks of Ukrainian economy are transferred to – who else – foreigners. Same for land privatization.
Somewhat hilariously, Blinken warned that Russian troops might invade Ukraine. In this case, Zelensky can count only on huge political assistance, not military. So Zelensky in fact was ordered to stop asking to join NATO and cease provoking Russia, as President Putin, who already drew red lines, could make a “drastic decision”.
Blinken demanded that American assets should be untouchable by Ukrainian law, and named honored figures of civil society. Maidan cookie distributor Victoria “F**k the EU” Nuland, also in the room, drew up a list of The Untouchables, and Blinken met with them separately.
Finally, the giant ghost hanging over the whole trip to Kiev had to make itself known. In practice, Zelensky was invited to turn in everyone in Ukraine who helped bring information about Hunter Biden to the media via Rudolph Giuliani.
According to the source who had access to the leak, Zelensky was left beyond speechless. That’s not exactly what he was expecting. Especially when it comes to transferring valuable assets controlled by Ukrainian oligarchs to “foreign interests”. Someone will inevitably whack him.
No one is touching this leak – as if it was radioactive poison. No one will confirm it. Its plausibility though cannot be denied.
Contradicting these powerful, left unnamed “foreign interests” is simply out of the question. They now seem to be guided by a “take the money and run” logic, as in taking over the looting of Ukraine lock, stock and barrel before the whole thing – actually a failed state – blows up.
Pity those oligarchs who thought they were going to loot the land through privatization. Instead the money is on a one way out journey. Follow the money. Follow the dream.
I guess we see the very first true attempt at the ‘rules-based international order’ at work.
Ghouls-based order. Blood suckers. More than that. They have come for the bone marrow, too.
US rationalization: You get democracy. We take everything of value.
This should be interesting to see if Rinat Akhmetov doesn’t fund some assassins or turns back to the Kremlin to save his empire. He will be the biggest loser.
You forgot the irony quotes on “democracy.” Or has the word become post-ironic when used by the US now? I try to stay current, but it’s increasingly hard to keep track of these things these days.
I think democracy is appropriate. Small case, meaningless in reality, an hallucinogen for the masses.
I think of its meaning at the highest level, Democracy, and use cap to designate it as concept worth talking about.
What has happened is governments in the West, our reference point, all have gone to tyranny. Like wine gone to vinegar. People think voting is power. Voting has become a ritual distraction.
In the oldest democratic republic, the USA, they just stole the Presidential vote from the People. And followed up with legislature after legislature refusing to examine the crimes, backed up with court after court right up to the Supreme Court refusing (unanimously in the Supreme Court) to give standing to the President and to 20 states.
What greater nullification of democracy could history provide? None.
Democracy is the trick. The pea under the shell. Except the pea never is under any of the shells.
But for the foolish, democracy is still a ‘delicious cookie’ for which they’ll surrender all to the bag lady.
As Mark Twain said, If voting did any good they wouldn’t let us do it.
@Larchmonter445 Thank you! I always seek your comments and always find them very interesting and informative! This comment e.g. was truely brilliant!
Democracy alas, a stillborn idea, worthy of remembrance and treasuring, but dead on arrival.
“In the oldest democratic republic” still in existence is not The US of North A, but the small Republic of San Marino, which has been ruled by majority-elected Communists several decennia the last hundred years. Aside from that, several Swiss cantons have been democracies since the Middle Ages.
The USA was never meant to be a true democracy ruled by the demis ore the hoy polloy:The “Founding Fathers” abhorred the idea of majority rule. They wanted a Repulic like in Ancien Rome, Venice and England (both in the City of London and in London Town)
Larchmonter445
“In the oldest democratic republic, the USA, they just stole the Presidential vote from the People”.
I don’t know if you were being sarcastic or not, but the US was never a true democracy. It’s first “president” was George Washington, a Freemason on the payroll of the Rothschild’s. The HQ of the Freemasons for the US is in Washington DC, and it controls the politicians and US Government, the judiciary included. As you mentioned, the Supreme Court even refused to hear the case on the greatest election steal in US history.
“Democracy has never been and never can be so durable as aristocracy or monarchy; but while it lasts, it is more bloody than either.
Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. It is in vain to say that democracy is less vain, less proud, less selfish, less ambitious, or less avaricious than aristocracy or monarchy. It is not true, in fact, and nowhere appears in history. Those passions are the same in all men, under all forms of simple government, and when unchecked, produce the same effects of fraud, violence, and cruelty. When clear prospects are opened before vanity, pride, avarice, or ambition, for their easy gratification, it is hard for the most considerate philosophers and the most conscientious moralists to resist the temptation. Individuals have conquered themselves. Nations and large bodies of men, never.”
– John Adams
You/John Adams are referring to US-Western style ‘democracy which has a very recent history and may not last much longer than Athenian-style ‘democracy’. Both have failed to promote the interest-welfare of their citizens.
‘Democracy’ with Chinese characteristics has existed far longer.
Hello Simon,
Democracy existed even earlier in India.
Its not exactly a new form of governance.
Gavishti
Tacitus called it:
“They have plundered the world, stripping naked the land in their hunger… they are driven by greed, if their enemy be rich; by ambition, if poor… They ravage, they slaughter, they seize by false pretenses, and all of this they hail as the construction of empire. And when in their wake nothing remains but a desert, they call that peace.”
“The more corrupt the state, the more numerous the laws.”
great quote and too appropriate
He that lies down with dogs shall rise up with fleas.
The UN Charter _is_ the ‘rules-based international order’.
The MsM-twisted version is simply a US wet dream.
They called it the ‘rules-based international order’ because “military bases based international order” didn’t sound as good.
Unsourced leak, fairy tale or the truth?
The fact of the matter is Ukraine exists, like a good prostitute, to be used. Extract all the loot her body can produce, keep her alive, fit for service everyday, juiced on drugs enough to generate the energy to do her services.
The pimp, in this case, not just the US, but specifically the Dems, Biden/Obama/Clinton who stand her up, wash her off and deliver her the johns who will extract from her the last corpuscle of flesh her body can surrender.
Hunter, Joe, Nuland (oh, yes, she’s into it too), and the intermittent johns from CIA, State, EUROCOM, NATO, and whatever Tribal sojourners who want a poke or blow who can manage a few hours in Kiev all are into the pimping of Ukraine, literally and figuratively.
The organ harvesters might intervene before she dies. Whatever can be taken will be.
The prostitute called Ukraine is in for a gangbang of epic duration. Kiev will be ‘pulling a train’ until all systems collapse and she’s a cadaver. Then the necrophiles will pile on.
Pimping is looting. It is a historic trade of the Tribe.
All the vultures of Democracy and the Democrat Party are in for the feast.
It’s ironic that the oligarchs in the Ukraine strategically placed themselves into a lose-lose scenario. Either run back into the by now unwelcoming arms of Russia and lose all, or stay where they are with the USA and lose all plus more.
Larchmonter445
“All the vultures of Democracy and the Democrat Party are in for the feast”. We shall see. The vultures have shown remarkable greed when it comes to Ukraine, plundering it’s industry and rich agricultural soil. The population of the country has been drastically reduced, with analysts not sure if currently it is 36 million or 25 million. As things stand, the country is looking into dissipation, with analysts predicting it will disintegrate into three parts. Two of those parts will certainly be looking towards Russia, and I don’t think that after that the vultures will have much of a feast.
I wonder why “R” programming “language” is so crucial on all this…
Same language used to process Russian assets data in the 90s ? Probably…
People know that “R” is essential for west banking system.
I agree with Larchmonter445: Is this an “Unsourced leak, fairy tale or the truth?” — Or a hoax ?
While I wouldn’t put anything past Victoria Nuland, this seems way over the top even for her. Don’t know enough about Blinken one way or the other to know what he’s capable of. But to overtly demand total control of all of another county’s economy seem a bit extreme even for the Neocons. Pepe Escobar usually has good information, but this needs collaboration. Awful Avalanche (Yelenis) is doing a multi-part series on the meeting, and doesn’t even hint at this monstrosity. Can anybody confirm it ? or has anybody done so ?
Seward, that’s a good rule: if you don’t like the information ask for evidence. As for what Nudelman is capable of remember that her husband Cohen is on AIPAC who wanted a New Pearl Harbour to start a new war for the new American Century; they got 911 where U$ neocon regime plus Israeli performance artists blew up 3 buildings and burnt 3,000 people to death. Nudelman and Biden were responsible for a smaller but even more horrible building fire atrocity in Kiev.
This isn’t corroboration per se but this article from a Russian journalist cites some analysts discussing the visit independent of what Pepe has reported here, and it’s definitely making these outrageous claims seem more plausible.

The idea that this is an inspection makes a lot of sense, as the Biden foreign policy brain trust are unhappy with how Zelensky took a neutral position between Biden and Trump, or in their view perhaps pro-Trump if they blame him for the Hunter Biden thing (idk enough about what went down there to speculate)
They mention how the state dept briefing to the press recently on Ukraine didn’t even mention Russia but instead expressed concern over the sovereign government of Ukraine dismissing executives at state owned companies, because the US is ostensibly worried about “good governance”.
And it’s been reported in the west extensively how various G7 countries have been parroting the US line opposing the dismissal of that energy company chief by Zelensky, who the analysts cited in the piece speculate is trying to forge a path forward on domestic issues which involves sequestering sources of revenue so that Ukraine isn’t simply at the mercy of the IMF and their insane demands for a “productive investment climate.”
The idea that their idea of such a climate means effective impunity for foreign investors, the marginalization of domestic players and the castration of Zelensky’s pretensions of autonomy on domestic matters isn’t the most outlandish claim in light of the broader context.
They always dress up their IMF supply side fundamentalism with seemingly neutral, technocratic jargon and concerns over corruption, inflation and “investors”. Investors obviously always means Blackrock and these other looter behemoths – and the outrageously lopsided deals they negotiate are revealed in their full grotesqueness when we are given some insight into the unvarnished brutality of neoliberal empire‘s ugly inner workings.
I’m sure we will get FT and their ilk spinning this as concern for the investment climate, economic surveillance and whatnot, so that the public in the west which enthusiastically accepts the wages of war will go along with these gangsterish, gunboat diplomacy tactics which have no place in the real rules based (UN) system.
This is the best comment ever.
What I think of Ukraine but could never put it in words like that. Standing ovation, brilliant analogy!
This would be hilarious if it were not totally spooky – not just a failed state run by crazy, but not-too-bright neo-nazis, but a failed state run by the merciless US – on Russia’s doorstep. And what is the US going to do with 45 million poor Ukrainians? They do have to have at least one meal a day! If Ze has half a brain, now would be a good time to start collaborating with Russia to chase out gringos. Otherwise, we’re looking at another Afghanistan, or some such monster. Or is a certain tribe trying to get payback for Sviatoslav? As they say, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
GoraKoshka
You mentioned the figure of 45 million Ukrainians. Well, the population in 2014 was 50 million. Analysts are trying to ascertain what the population is now, using various methods. They are not sure if the current population is 36 million or 25 million, with Ukraine seeing a mass exodus towards Western Europe and Russia. By December of 2017, some 4.4 million Ukrainians had fled to Russia.
Ze “to start collaborating with Russia” ? No way. He is a Khazar, controlled and financed by another Khazar who fled to Israel. A third Khazar has made an entrance, demanding complete subjugation of Ukraine to Western financial interests. What is obscene are the overt methods being used. I think that Ukraine will now disintegrate more quickly than I originally thought.
Very insightful. Wonder if poor old Sviatoslav I had any idea of what he started when he destroyed the Khazar city of Sarkel and its capital at Atil back in 965? The Khazars became the Ashkenazim who emigrated to the USA to be the same US neocons who along with Israel brought us 9/11 in 2001.
As “cookie” Nuland’s husband, Robert Kagan (PNAC), told us back in 1998, “The path to [US domination] is likely to be a long one without some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor.” That event, of course, was 9/11 and the rest is history. The irony of what the “tribe’ is now doing in Ukraine is all the more ironic as they have allied themselves with the very same Nazis who gave Israel its foundational myth in 1948. What goes around, comes around, and around, and around…
Do you know how Sviatoslav ended his glorious ‘anti-Khazar’ saga?
No, not specifically. This is a fascinating history that Americans know next to nothing about. Tell me more…
It was Zelensky who first accumulated troops and material against the Donbass. He could not have done this if he did not have a green light from Washington and NATO, both of whom wanted to know how Russia would respond. And both got the answer.
Russia organized temporary military maneuvers close to the Donbass. The Russian military showed professionalism and efficiency. What no doubt impressed both NATO and Washington was the speed with which Russia brought troops and equipment to the border with the Donbass, something NATO could never replicate. Both NATO and Washington got the message that Russia would respond if Ukraine attacked the Donbass. Has the danger of a Ukrainian attacked subsided ? It has, but it has not gone away, as Ukraine is in a heap of trouble, politically, economically and financially, and could do something desperate, like starting a war.
After Blinken left, “Zelensky was left beyond speechless”. What Blinken demanded was complete imperial subjugation by Ukraine, with additional plundering of the country. Now even Ukrainian oligarchs will be asked to hand over their assets to foreign interests, thus completing Ukraine’s colonial status. Since the oligarchs finance the neo-Nazi paramilitary units, an interesting situation will indeed have been created. Zelensky must know that Blinkens demands will be the end of him. What is interesting is that one Khazar made demands to another Khazar, no doubt expecting obedience. We shall now see what happens.
What we have here is additional proof of what happens when the West instigates a coup d’etat in a country, as it did in Ukraine in 2014. The country is reduced to a colonial entity, with plundering becoming the norm.
I am slightly surprised by Blinken’s demands, as he has gone too far. He is now alienating the oligarchs, who backed the coup back in 2014. Such unthoughtful moves by the US will only speed up the disintegration of Ukraine. But then again, greed knows no limitations.
Maybe that’s what they want … I get the feeling the US wants out of Ukraine but not to lose face, easiest way to do it is drive them away by unreasonable demands. The US/NATO will never get troops or nukes in Ukraine, Putin just showed them what will happen if they try. Ukraine is just a massive weeping sore and a drain on the IMF/WB (again just the fascist banking militia wing of US empire) If the oligarchs/Ze go rogue the yanks get to leave (they already stole the gold … what else is left)
Ze could always resign of course, before he gets whacked, force another election …
Something about this just stinks, the oligarchs will not go for being usurped by ‘western interests’ next 6 months could be interesting in Ukraine.
I don’t believe that “Zelensky was left beyond speechless”.
(((Zelensky))) knows the score and is playing his part.
What shocks me is that the right-wing Azov battalion (et al) haven’t gone after him…
They tried something, they saw the response, they backed down. What is the point now of them trying the same thing again? Are they that thoughtless? It seems to me the onus and opportunity now is to broadcast the latest demands made on Ukraine to every radio TV and website in Ukraine. What are the people of Ukraine thinking about when all this is going down?
Let’s hope the names of the “foreign interests” leak so we can see who Blinken and Nuland are really working for.
Let’s hope the names of the Untouchables leak too so all the players can be identified.
Yes, someone get the list of names and publish, please.
well, there’s hope, but doubtful. prior, a man, now a woman, leaked. his/her collaborator also leaked. results: 10 years in virtual solitary.
As a related topic, does anyone know how close is Nord Stream 2 to completion?
A recent article from S&P mentions only 100 km, but I read elsewhere in The Saker that only 45 km are missing
https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/market-insights/latest-news/natural-gas/051021-just-100-km-left-to-lay-of-nord-stream-2-gas-pipeline-ambassador
If NS2 is completed and operational, the whole Ukraine saga may lose a lot of value.
From the articles I searched, there are two segments left to construct, 45 km in Danish waters and 16.5 km in German waters.
This is as of May 4th when the German section was halted by environmental claim against the pipeline.
As I understand it there are two pipelines.
One has 22.389 and the other 82.910 meters remaining see
https://youtu.be/WwoMP_4lO6A?t=20
@Xay jec hoy
You must have meant km not meters.
It depends on how you interpret the dot.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimal_separator
“Past versions of ISO 8601, but not the 2019 revision, also stipulated normative notation based on SI conventions, adding that the comma is preferred over the full stop.
ISO 80000-1 stipulates that “The decimal sign is either a comma or a point on the line.” The standard does not stipulate any preference, observing that usage will depend on customary usage in the language concerned, but adds a note that as per ISO/IEC Directives all ISO standards should use the decimal comma. “
I always love being ahead of someone in the know. It makes the sudden surprise that much more enjoyable.
5-12-21 Update on pipe-laying:
” . . . on May 9, Victory Day, our pipe-laying barge showed a more or less impressive result. Thus, on the first line of the pipeline, Fortuna covered about 39.5 kilometers out of 63. Especially noteworthy here is the fact that Fortune has only 10 kilometers to go in Danish waters. In normal weather, this is 10-12 days.
Yes, in German waters it is necessary to lay about 14 kilometers, but if after each complaint there is a month of downtime, then the work risks being delayed for a long time.

Well, hell, if things are that bad, it almost makes sense to go ahead and to start a war with Donbas and provoke a Russian invasion. Given the alternative, as described by Pepe, it would seem like a rescue.
Woogs
If Zelensky provoked a war in the Donbass, he would be risking a Maidan in reverse, as the impoverished Ukrainian population is in no mood for any war.
Maybe Sinking Ship Zelensky should take a tactic from the Duchy of Grand Fenwick in The Mouse that Roared. Attack Russia and hope to lose. I’m sure the results will be preferable.
Another example of the US as a vicious imperialist monster.
As I’m fond of saying: The brave Ukros deeply yearned for European values and, boy, did they get European values! They welcomed their ”liberators” with open arms and open legs and were rewarded most convincingly — winning the Eurovision ”Song” Contest with a political piece of ”music” is quite an awesome gesture, methinks. Serves neatly to illustrate that Ukraine is Europe, after all.
Moreover, just like Ukraine, Russia too was subjected to horrendous Western imperial rape back in the 1990s, yet Russia didn’t go Nazi. Instead, Russia got out from under the West’s jackboot and now it’s the West which is in for some very ”interesting times”. As regards the Ukraine, Mr. Greenclown is the ”President” of a hideous dead corpse masquerading as a country.
Looking back, I think it was Russia’s-illegal-annexation-of-Crimea that definitely sealed the fate of ”Ukraine”. In case of a successful eviction of the Russian naval base by NATO and then the ensuing carnage against Crimea’s Russian population, it would at least have been theoretically possible to raise the Ukros’ living standards at the expense of a rapidly weakening and overtly blackmailed Russia. Not that Western imperialism necessarily would have propped up ’Ukraine’ by fresh, all-new imperialist loot. Today, the imperialists don’t care too much about their own reputation and popularity; they are 100% committed to wealth and power and have only raw contempt in store for everybody else and are quite happy to show it.
”In practice, Zelensky was invited to turn in everyone in Ukraine who helped bring information about Hunter Biden to the media via Rudolph Giuliani.”
This is something which the patriotic Ukronazis can be expected to carry out with utmost zeal. The ”President” for his part likely draws a huge sigh of relief since he finally has got some valuable work to be assigned to them.

“Moreover, just like Ukraine, Russia too was subjected to horrendous Western imperial rape back in the 1990s”
The whole world is a stage.
In fantasy land conflating attempt with achievement facilitates opportunities for others.
In fantasy land believing that the stage is limited, the audience is the folks back home, and the actors, directors and scripts are chosen by “us” facilitates opportunities for others.
In fantasy land when dramas don’t achieve the expected responses from the audiences, “us” often resort to belief to bridge doubt to retain fantasy as illustrated above and below:
“”Moreover, just like Ukraine, Russia too was subjected to horrendous Western imperial rape back in the 1990s”
Goodnight, sweet prince
and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

“The whole world is a stage.”
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune or the disadvantages of taking bulkas to a party instead of tortik ?
The procession of a princess and her minions.
Where to begin?
Did we concentrate too much on crossing the road in front of the embassy, and so missed the cake shop opposite?
The road was slippy; it was February. .
Did we concentrate too much going down the winding hill to Maidan and so missed the supermarkets on the right side ?
The “security” were regularly looking behind them so that would be understandable.
Did we buy plain bulkas and standard carrier bags since princesses rarely carry cash?
Did we try to minimise the budget by buying plain bulkas and standard carrier bags ?
Did we forget the salt because the princess was a expert in local customs due to previous experience?
Is that why we ended up with an albatross ?
And how do we remove it from our neck?
RE: MagdaTam on May 12, 2021 · at 3:29 am EST/EDT
“Another procession of a princess and her minions.”
There any many princess in fantasy land, so perhaps to avoid confusion/overcrowding, some princesses have processions with their minions in different places.
One princess posing as a merchant banker, whose ancestor had been name changed on Ellis Island, decided to return to her ancestral homeland but found that it was no longer called “The Russian Empire”.
This princess erred on the side of caution – when nature called she made sure she returned to her hotel.
This princess acted for and on behalf of EBRD tasked with capitalising and monitoring nascent “commercial banking” in Russia.
To be fair perhaps someone forgot to tell her if “blat” permitted, in 1992/3 locals could create a bank with a capital requirement of about 250 dollars.
The princess and her minions perceived opportunities of massive returns on investments as did their counterparties, but with different ideas on how such returns could be facilitated.
By 1998 the exposure of EBRD which they chose to view as investments, were circa 34 billion dollars.
Some suffer the slings of outrageous fortune since the best laid plans of mice and men gang aft agley : confusing plans with wishes and wishes with plans increasing the probability of such outcomes.
EBRD’s banks defaulted in 1998 and were found to be Potemkin villages facilitated by previous training by GOSPLAN in such endeavours of some “officers” in various banks.
Useful fools are often reluctant to admit that they have been useful fools, and instead comforted themselves by understanding losing 34 billion dollars was less than losing China, and anyway they had used the funds to invest in Russia, only the return on investment was disappointing.
So retaining their clothes, the princess and her minions continued their procession.

Well the just in case string bag may have been in the washing and not in the handbag.
Well there was the hit squad and other resources to finance.
Perhaps next time it will bez platna?

Perhaps time to consider sharing tea and sernik with cinnamon in the kitchen ?
When the Nazis invaded in 1941, their intention, depopulate Ukraine and steal its resources should have been obvious to the UON Banderists.
Had Hitler won, he would have shown the “subhuman Slavs” no mercy. If the neo Nazis who hate Russia had any sense, they’d see Russian speakers allies.
76 years later and they made the same mistake, trusting the West. In his grave, Hitler knows he will never loot Russia, but he will get Ukraine as a consolation prize.
In their stupidity, they permitted their ad hoc made up country to be destroyed.
”In his grave, Hitler knows he will never loot Russia, but he will get Ukraine as a consolation prize.”
And a most useful consolation prize it is! Here, he would have a bunch of Slavs proving him right about at least some of them. Russians and Belarusians, by contrast, will have none of Hitler’s or NATO’s ”protection”.
Can we have a list of the Ukrainian oligarchs, please? Then we can bet on the probability of which of them will pull the trigger on the Comedian-in-Target Zelensky.
Any one of them. Even his puppet master Kolomoiski would not be too shy about finishing him off in order to extend his lousy life for even one second.
Ukrainian dream is becoming Ukrainian nightmare.
Expecting Freedom having slavery instead.
Loosing roots is devastating.
Thank you Pepe. Your writings are uplifting.
The Biden regime is taking the”liberal” attitude to new extremes. Virtue signal in public while secretly following the most selfish ruthless policy. I wondered before whether Blinken was a loon. actually believing his rhetoric, or just a skilled liar. Now we know.
The descendants of the Khazarian’s coming home for one last dance? I know Pepe loves Rock n’ Roll Geopolitics and could come up with delicious songs that symbolize this.

PD: In the case of Afghanistan, there is no mention of uranium and rare earths that the empire extracts from that long-suffering country. Hopefully you could comment something about it.
Ola. Hasta la Revolucion Siempre! From what I know there is no Empire looting of Afghanistan’s mineral resources to any significant degree. The last I heard was years ago there were some Japanese operations. But definitely not uranium. And there won’t be in the future as the Taliban will put the kibosh on that.
i believe the security situation in Afghanistan has long forbidden the exploration and exploitation of her potential riches.
Ukraine will be in permanent state of turmoil to keep Russia on the boil, like Syria is for Iran. Guess who’s the joker in the pack who will do all the playing/fighting? US hardly volunteers its own to do the bidding. My guess is you’ll somehow see insertion by Mr Erdogan under some pretext to keep this simmering too… (like say protecting the black sea lanes) No else is crazy enough to sign up. He will of course be sponsored by the usual suspects.
This will not go over well with the Nazis. They will pop a gasket and go for Z’s head because he is allowing Ukraine to be looted in broad daylight. I saw this coming a month ago. Z has to flee and find a hideout and bring good body guards.
Over the past weekend Wee-Zee increased his body-guards to 20, plus 2 snipers..

Capitalist to Zelensky : “ You reign, we rule. “
ze has/had? the authority, but he doesn’t have the power. This also proves that blinken is a liar, talking about ukrainian sovereignity, when he knows that it has none since its a colony of the usa.
Talk about being offered a deal he can’t refuse! Zelensky and even the Ukronazi militias must be wondering if perhaps they shouldn’t offer an invitation to Putin to take over their doomed little sh!thole and boot out the American vultures.
Blinken shows not the slightest bit of respect for those fools, if those are the things he actually said. The gangbangers on the South Side of Chiraq will be a lot more polite to a white tourist who wandered into the hood before they lay him out and pick him clean.
This is what you get when you invite Satan himself to act as your muscle in a shakedown of the local competition. It is you who ends up eaten alive. Basically, Blinken told Zelensky, “Give me all of it. I want it all, all your country is worth, you get squat, and, by the way, STFU.”
Should be no more questions from the Ukrainians, or the whole watching world, about whom those rubes are dealing with and what they really want. I am truly appalled to the limit. Wow!
I wonder if the Fed threatened to “buy back” some stock (assets) from those o’s or throw them in jail.
Alexander Mercouris recently published a vid reporting that Blinken, when in Ukraine, and asked about NS2, consistently dodged the topic. Mercouris, reasonably infers that this means the Germans have dug in their heels and told Blinken to back off. Mercouris speculates on why the Americans seem to be loosing interest in Ukraine’s starry eyed aspirations to Westerness. With the naval base in Sevastopol gone and their pipeline transit asset obsolete, Ukraine has lost it’s geopolitical use value. From an asset it becomes a liability. This resonates with Pepe’s insider info. The time has come to loot the place of whatever’s left and get out. The point where I would question Mercouris is how he jumps from Blinken’s clear lack of real military support for an ‘anti terrorist’ campaign in the Donbass to the positive engagement with the Minsk process. I doubt that Blinken supports Minsk. The Ukraine can bleed on. That’s fine. It seems that what the Americans want is simulated war and chaos. Only chaos serves their purposes, not peace and prosperity.
Otherwise Alistair Crooke calls attention to the relationship between American political wokeness and the rise of the Greens in Germany, and the resonance of this development and the recent declaration of the Euro Parliament condemning ‘Russian aggression’ in Ukraine as rationale for cancelling NS2 and cutting Russia out of SWIFT. The vote in Strasbourg was 569-67.
More and more I’m thinking that Russia should cut its losses with the pipeline and sell the energy to the Chinese. If German industry lands on it’s ass and Europe goes into long term ‘recession’ then is that really Russia’s problem? It could even work the other way. German industry needs the pipeline far more than Russia. If they cut off the pipeline German manufacturing industry will take a major hit. High energy expenses will tend to price them out of the international market. On the other hand, Russia has other buyers to sell to, specifically the buyers who will be moving into markets vacated by German industries. Solution, if they can’t get the power to Germany then move industry to where the power is. Russia. A nice country. Affordable energy. An educated work force. An environment of sophisticated engineering. Original research. Lots of space. Liberal (yes, Putin is a liberal) but not too liberal. Favourable tax laws. A place that has access to the up and coming international market that matters the most. A place where you can plan ahead. That’s because the legal environment is predicable. Predictability is the policy of the policy makers. That’s good for business. A nice country.

“should cut its losses”
Perhaps you should consider different factors in exploring return on investment ?
You’re the first person whom I saw claiming Putin was liberal. His policies are definitely nationalist but rational.

“His policies are definitely nationalist but rational.”
Perhaps resort to labelling is best avoided?
Of course resort to labelling is popular on the misguided notion that labels explain contents to ensure what you see is what you get.
https://www.rt.com/shows/crosstalk/523517-socialism-concept-american-policy/
I think he is a pragmatist. And a long term strategist. Putin has on many occasions avoided a rash response to some affront, such as the Turkish downing of a Russian bomber over Syria, his response in the Donbass, etc. People at the time were insisting that he should overwhelm Georgia (because of S. Ossetia,) take Kiev, punish Erdogan, etc. But his measured response, harsh when necessary, but only then, has resulted in a tenfold return for Russia in the long run instead of a short term jingoist rush. Sure, he could decimate Ukraine, but you know what they say about the puppy you save. American presidents have always had to ‘show them that we are tough’ in every crisis and ended up shooting ourselves in whichever foot was not in our mouths at the moment.
I know what “liberal” means in Western countries, but I don’t know what it means in Russia.
Naval’ny is called a “liberal” though he’s a white nationalist.
Liberal: Putin is a liberal. Meaning in context. Context being prospect of German industrial investment in Russia. Russia is economically liberal in the sense that the government respects private property, the economics of profit making, is committed to tax lightly, is positively supportive of personal privacy, the rule of law, crucial to economic predictability, and more. Its also fair to call Putin and most of his government nationalistic. There is no contradiction here. Like socialism, liberalism comes in both national and international forms. Neoliberalism is internationalist and is well known to be backed by exTrots. On the other hand there have been forms of national liberalism which is generally characterised by protectionist legislation to foster growing industries. A century ago Max Weber was a member of the National Liberal party. The definitions I go by are of this vintage.
Navalny is, first and foremost, a drug addict who has long since lost his moral compass, if he ever had one. Like Yeltsin before him, he is happy as long as he gets his ”stuff”, especially while being handsomely paid. Less fortunate drug addicts live in stench, filth, disease, homelessness, and abject poverty. I think Navalny merits the label ”Liberal” very well indeed.
“Solution, if they can’t get the power to Germany then move industry to where the power is. Russia.”
Couldn’t agree more. But why not wait till it begins to fail then buy up the plant and invite the essential workforce too? Plunder Germany for it’s best auto and automation engineers.
They need to improve their market to do that. Don’t forget that a lot of russian talent are not working in Russia.
No mention of Ihor Kolomoiski? It is common knowledge that Zelensky is just his puppet.
Or is this just another shakedown attempt by the big guy using Zelensky as the messenger boy.
The end-game of the US: 1) the neocon-led US, already looking at economic disaster itself, gets to loot an already failed/failing state. 2) Ukraine turns to Mother Russia and Russia gets the burden of resuscitating another failed/failing state besides Belarus.
Now, how many failed/failing states could Russia resuscitate?
Ukraine is more than a swamp or bottomless pit on the border of Russia.
It holds Chernobyl, a persistent danger.
4 NPPs with 15 reactors which are all potential disasters.
Eight biolabs the Americans operate inside Ukraine.
And a few hundred thousand nazis and banderistas with heavy weapons and a fanaticism fed with money from within Ukraine and from outside among the Europeans.
All these festering boils and cancers are there as a minefield when the US finally releases Kiev.
Then there will be a surge of refugees trying to get into Donbass, Russia, Crimea and Belarus.
Starvation and epidemics will have to be addressed by Russia when they hit Ukraine.
The only sensible route to handle most of these issues is for the UN to come take charge of Ukrainians. De-militarize the country and secure civil order with Berkut police and UN peacekeepers.
The US intends, quite clearly, to leave nothing of value. They are impoverishing 35 million people for a lifetime.
A year or two from now the crisis will explode. This steady state of corruption, malevolence, incompetence and hybrid war against Russia cannot continue. Cancer devours the host body. Gangrene destroys the host body. Viruses kill the vital organs. And nazism, Russophobia, and ethnic cleansing will kill the sponsor and hosts.
The US is preparing Ukraine as a quagmire for Russia to drain it like during cold-war 1.0. I don’t see Russia has any choice given the commonalities of ethnicity and religion with Ukraine.
But how many failed states could Russia carry economically? The weakness of Russia is economic – an existential weakness, given that modern geopolitical contests will be decided by economic strength – same as Cold-War 1.0.
Cold War 2.0 will be decided by which superpower will collapse economically first, the US or Russia?
Place your bets punters.
@Larchmonter445. Blinken’s gambit in Ukraine is a Sun Tzu move. The US likely has some Chinese American experts on Sun Tu advising it.
But will Putin fall into the trap set by the Americans?

The only possible rationality in this empire policy, to my sadness, is that they know that: (i) they are decadent (as was the position of the French empire in Vietnam), (ii) as in the French past, they are occupying / attacking ( less and less with own troops) different areas around the globe (Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, militarily; Brazil (attack on the pre-salt), South Korea (attack on Samsung), India (attack on the agricultural sector of local owners) , and, most recently, Ukraine (for everything exposed in the Pepe story), in a hybrid way) in order to gain geopolitical leverage, in the same way that France occupied Dien Bien Phu, during the negotiations in Geneva, (iii) by knowing that they are decadent, they are promoting an absolutely brutal drainage of resources from these areas, not intending to defend them: if they cannot keep them under their techno-feud, “they will set fire and salt the land” (see Yemen).
The action of the empire shows that they will not commit the mistake of the French, to my sadness: they will retreat and leave a desert of suffering, disgrace, smuggling and drug trafficking in place …
May all peoples, including the United States, declare war on Atlanticism.
LIke most heads of state, Zelensky was put in place, and is controlled by Ukrainian elites. In his case, komolsky of Privat Bank fame.
If Pepe has this one correct, Blinken, etal…. meaning the Biden administration just declared war on the Ukrainian elites…. where it hurts most….. their treasuries….
The $64,000 question… do the Ukrainian elites have alternatives???
I believe they do….
Not publicized…. possibly in secret…. Komolsky, Akhmetov, Poroshenko, and the others will seek a modus vivendi with Russia.
Should one be negotiated… events could proceed with astonishing speed….

Exactly how does one take money out of a ‘failed’ state? I mean one that has really failed. Title however derived for these state properties will be worthless without some minimum social order and enforcement mechanism to make them functional. One could, perhaps, ship out equipment, rolling stock, etc., anything not tied down, but that is something different from the idea stated above.
Furthermore, would the Oligarchs to be dispossessed really stand still for this? I see this, if true, as an invitation for Zelensky and the Oligarchs to approach Putin. Of course, this may not work, but an about face even at great cost would seem to be in order. The alternative would appear to be collapse with or without submission to US demands. Correct me if I am wrong.
A fundamental principle of the modern casino capitalism (i maintain it started with Reagan + Thatcher around 1980 but others have quoted an earlier date) is not to produce and then make a reasonable profit so that the whole supply chain has an equal share and can thus survive…but to extract all the profit, regardless of the consequences to the supply chain.
You can do this by invading a country and destroying it but use the impoverished labour as slaves…you can do it by destroying a country, which reduces its assets to zero market value and the government hands you the titled deeds to this now worthless property but as soon as you possess it, it gains value from the need to rebuild and create a new productive asset. The perceived value is what counts in today’s casino capitalist world, not the actual value (best example is the highly overvalued Tesla asset). So a malevolent enabler, such as an Albright or Nuland can assist in the takeover and destruction but the asset value is then an auction to the highest bidder. This is how Soros and all the other predatory capitalists operate. These parties pay for and enable the destruction and takeover, so that the title to the land/object is in their hands at the lowest cost to themselves and they can resell it at a gain to themselves and their cronies. So the asset is in a signed legal document showing the transfer of ownership. Methods such as Nationalisation of these assets ..or invasion…could enable or even neutralise this process.
One example> The Ukrainian pipelines were built and paid for, by Russia. The revenues through Ukie territory were gained by the Ukraine. These assets were then nationalised by the Ukraine post-2014 (ie Russia lost these assets but continues to pay transit fees) then….the Americans purchased the pipelines from the Ukrainians, so now the Russians have to pay transit fees to the Americans. which is one of the basic reasons why the Russians no longer really care if they need to ship gas through these pipelines but are quite happy to pump it elsewhere…
@Analyst
What if Russia did what the US did in reverse, they build the N2 pipeline then sell the physical pipe to Germany, Germany pre buys Russian gas, stored in Russia of course (storage fees) and when required has the Russians pump the German gas from Russia through the German pipe to Germany……just thinking, would that even be a possibility????
Russia will finish the pipe, regardless of what flows through it……..the long game is always in play.
Cheers, M
Those ukrainian pipelines are what? 50 yrs old? How much maintenance has been done on them – I bet next to nil or at least not worth talking about. They don’t last forever, need replacing. Poss likewise with the pumping stns. Therefore, from Germany’s et al pov, they want a reliable supply, that’s why NS2 is imperative to be completed and used for Germany’s economic benefit.
IIRC, not so long ago they were transporting about 200 bn m3 gas thru ukraine, now it’s down to 40? bn m3. Who pays up for the loss of revenue? the imf with yet another loan or 2?
Don’t forget also, wrt ukraine, the West crashed the grivna, so that assets could be bought at a quarter of the (normal) price.

The delegation included Defense Attaché at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden in Ukraine Captain 1st Rank Björn Wilburn, Defense Attaché at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Ukraine Captain 1st Rank Felix Ebestad and Defense Attaché at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Ukraine in Norway Lieutenant Colonel Boye Lillerud. What is the source of this leak? I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. And this Martyanov quote I can’t find either (or who that person is)…
The basic thrust of Pepe’s reported leak was reflected in an earlier German report (https://www.anti-spiegel.ru/2021/warum-us-aussenminister-blinken-nach-kiew-gereist-ist/), Why Blinken travelled to Kiev. The basic idea is that it was a blitz-visit occasioned specifically by Zelensky’s firing of Kobolev as head of Naftogas. Pepe says “Zelensky moved mountains to get rid of Kobolyev”, which is picturesque but doesn’t say much about the mountains. Biden, according to the German author, Thomas Röper, who lives in Moscow, installed Kobolev after the Maidan, and Naftogas functioned, still functions, as the post-box routing channel for “reverse-gas” shipments of Russian gas and payments for such, ostensibly to Europe, although it never enters Europe, back to the Ukrainian market, where Biden or The Biden Crime Family siphons off fees, to the tune of $1.5 billion between 2014-2016 alone, uninterrupted down to this day. The IMF helped jack up the fees by forcing Ukraine to cease subsiding gas prices on the local market, which lead to 1000% price hikes. Biden and Soros, according to Röper, and based on his local sources, installed their own people in Naftogas and several other state-owned companies, combatting Ukraine “corruption” with their own corruption via the forced privatization.
Rather interesting, Röper designates the Kobolev-firing as a “personal attack on Biden”, which means, according to Röper and his local sources, that Zelensky is toast. I would say that that is a premature prediction, but Röper can enter it in his calendar and correct his assumptions if/when the prediction does not happen.
Pepe lays out Blinken’s gambit, which boils down to “you give us rape and marauding control over everything”, but there is neither a standard quid-pro-quo nor an “or else” in another form. As Pepe writes,
“Somewhat hilariously, Blinken warned that Russian troops might invade Ukraine. In this case, Zelensky can count only on huge political assistance, not military. So Zelensky in fact was ordered to stop asking to join NATO and cease provoking Russia, as President Putin, who already drew red lines, could make a “drastic decision”.”
So is Blinken already in bed with Putin? – Chuckle. – No, but he did get the message, gone is the “unwavering support” narrative, gone is “Russia will pay a price” narrative. So what is there for Zelensky to fear? The Galician ideologues/Russophobes get the message that they will not be backed up, neither militarily, nor in fact politically… what is political support worth, either from Washington or from Brussels? For that reason I would take the “leaked” assessment that “Zelensky was left beyond speechless. That’s not exactly what he was expecting” with a grain of salt.
At this point I have only one argument to suggest that it is at least questionable whether Zalensky is as dumb as he seems or as he is painted: Go ahead, get yourself elected as president in that Ukrainian swamp and then let’s see how long you survive. Up to now, Zelensky has survived, no mean feat.
When Biden himself, plus Nuland plus John Brennan, were running things back in 2014, they didn’t make demands, they simply acted and the clowns jumped to fulfill their orders. Biden at least had a quid pro quo in his hip pocket, Blinken has nothing. Blinken is desperate and desperate Americans only know how to bellow. Zelensky made his move, fired Kobolev, so the domestic chessboard is opened for an internal brawl: the domestic oligarchs are now at odds, openly, with the Biden Crime Family from across the ocean, “you clean up your corruption,” says the Family, “there ain’t enough space in Ukraine for both of us”. Well, them’s fightin’ words. And at a certain point, if the point has not already been reached, Russophobia becomes a dispensable luxury. The foreigners are now the enemy, they do not make deals, they do not even make the usual “offer you can’t refuse”.
Does the Biden Crime Family win if they assassinate Zelensky now? – Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. If they assassinate Zelensky now, there is no guarantee that they will get control over Ukraine, and they will blow out the “democracy” narrative the Biden Crime Family is still trying to ride in Europe.
Rumor has it that it was Pamela Harris who ordered the FBI raid on Rudy Giuliani. – Please don’t ask how she gets the authority to do that. – A big mistake: If the Biden Crime Family cannot neutralize Giuliani in the US, the fight is not over. So what may have been calculated as a power play to impress Zelensky rather demonstrates the contrary.
As far as the issue of assassination is concerned, the attempted assassination of Lukashenko can only help sort out and clarify the irregular warfare chessboard within Ukraine itself. When the adversary, the Biden Crime Family, runs out of political and mafia leverage, it resorts to assassination. Whether you are for or against Zelensky, you cannot be for the Biden Crime Family. It is precarious to underestimate the power of clarity.

“It’s Sun Tzu time: the adversary will himself give us the means to defeat him.”
Tsun Tsu lived a long time ago and his time, his experiences of social relations within which Tsun Tsu lived informed his work and concepts including but not limited to giving and receiving.
People have lived after Tsun Tsu’s time in different social relations and had different experiences to inform their works and concepts including but not limited to giving and receiving.
Consequenly like all phenomena Tsun Tsu has been transcended whilst being remembered.
However some opponents continue to overly rely on precedents.
Dear Magda,
Since you do not specify who in your opinion has transcended Sun Tzu at what particular time, what he was transcended, and under which circumstances that differ from Sun Tzu’s, and since you therefore do not indicate in what way Sun Tzu has been or even could be superseded, I am left with what seems to be your general statement: different historical periods, with their different social relations (however these may have come about, whether natural or man-made), require and call forth conceptions of the state, strategy, tactics and warfare in general which differ from Sun Tzu’s at his particular time in history.
If this is not your general statement, please clarify.
Perhaps you have not thought through the consequences of this general statement, and perhaps that is the reason why you do not anticipate that there is something to clarify. Since, according to this general statement, warfare, strategy and tactics are constrained to particular historical conditions, there can be no general statement of the nature of man, the state, and warfare. History is relative, according to you, and so there is no constant, recognizable and reliable nature beyond history which may be reflected in history as it moves, but without changing fundamental nature. If that is so, then your own general statement is likewise impossible because you, too, are constrained by your particular historical circumstances and you must be deluding yourself if you believe your general statement is supra- or meta-historical, because there can be no such standpoint, according to you. In other words, on the basis of simple logic, if your general statement were true, you could not articulate the statement, and if you do articulate the statement, it is absurd.

Thank you for your encouraged “response” which as expected appears to be a function of your expectations/framing/interpretation (omniscience never being an option), a process sometimes described as hoist by your own petardness.
“If this is not your general statement, please clarify. “
The lateral process designated time, and the phenomena within moments within the lateral process designated time, are laterally interactive.
Therefore neither return nor stasis is an option, and hence no “general statement” can exist, except in fantasy lands and self-delusions of believers.

if he/she holds it remains Tsun Tsu time, giving that the purposes of the opponents are predicated on attempts at reversing time (not restricted to Cher) and/or stopping time, whilst mythologising previous outcomes/times to return to a state/time that never was – “hegemony” – will become complicit in the process of her/his own transcendence.
Another vector in facilitating her/his transcendence is her/his immersion in the linear defeat/victory iteration – failing to plan what is for afters (many exmples refer) – whilst her/his opponent is not – the may be this time I’ll be lucky mantra refers.
Consequently when the opponents declared the aim of full spectrum dominance and the existence of the end of history, they increased their complicity in their own transcendence, whilst increasing their cooperation with, and opportunities afforded to, their colleagues/partners in such endeavours informed by different purposes, whom they perceived/perceive as their opponents/, not restricted to having tea and blinis with honey.
Attempts at denial by the opponents of their useful foolery can be found in /insider-view-the-tragedy-of-the-us-deep-state/ and other periodic comments broadcast through this portal since 2014
.
The register, contents and timing of attempts at denial by opponents of their useful foolery, are functions of their perception of their “target audience’s” required levels of pre-mastication, attention spans, notions of plausible belief, and memory spans – not constants but moderated/perceived within notions that time is linear.

Evaluation is a function of facility and purpose which are conditioned by perceptions encouraged by levels of experience/immersion in differing social relations.
Hence some choose to communicate through implementing strategies, whilst some others communicate by attempting to bridge doubt by belief/interpretation in cooperation – which they seek to deny – with their interpretations of broadcasts by others, thereby facilitating communication, cooperation and complicity.

Being thought absurd and/or a producer of absurdity by an opponent is always advantageous.

Amateurs tend not to be afforded opportunities to test their beliefs/hypotheses by implementation, and hence their analyses/evaluations tend to be restricted to “thought experiments”, reliance on “great men” and their thoughts who have preceded them, and derived devotional texts whose contents are believed to be constantly valid.
This resort is widespread in the social relations self-designated as “The United States of America” whilst the resort to bridge doubt by belief when expected wishes and actual outcomes diverge.

“…In order to do so, he has to stretch facts, distort the laws of time and space, and sometimes resort to outright falsehoods. “
The social relations presently self-designated as “The United States of America” are so saturated in
notions of “great men” and reliance on “derived devotional texts” they simultaneous assign such significance to good guys in white hats and evil doers in black hats – Mr. Biden and Mr. Putin being two examples of many.
Tsun Tsu was a product of, and operated within, different social relations, which in Tsun Tsu’s case were informed by Dao – Orientalist interpretation being Taoism – thereby accepting/understanding that all things including his thoughts would be transcended by interaction through time – his thoughts would not be oracles with constant validity.
Amateurs, particularly in social relations self-designated as “The United States of America” tend to be averse to complexity, and tend to be more comfortable in the myth that We the people hold these truths to be self evident informs perception.
Consequently amateurs often resort to platitudes such as – The proof of the pudding is in the eating –
in the hope that interlocutors would find that a valid avoidance/closing “strategy”.
Fantasy lands are often sustained by construction of halls of mirrors – wherever the fantastist looks he/she sees her/himself – we the people hold these truths to be self-evident being one of many mirror panes.

Please do not challenge that might be deemed impolite and give rise to unfortunate consequences.
Encourage instead whilst smiling after thoroughly brushing teeth if possible.
Please encourage the continuation of all opponents’ reliance on “great men of history” and “derived devotional texts” since this may prove an additional component and accelerant of the opponents’ complicity in their own transcendence.
