It is clear the militia has achieved a major success in intercepting Kiev’s military operation, which represents a grave danger to the population of Donbass and which has already led to the loss of many lives among peaceful residents.
As a result of the militia’s actions, a large number of Ukrainian service members who did not participate in the military operation of their own volition but while following orders have been surrounded.
I call on the militia groups to open a humanitarian corridor for Ukrainian service members who have been surrounded, so as to avoid any needless loss of life, giving them the opportunity to leave the combat area unimpeded and reunite with their families, to return them to their mothers, wives and children, and to quickly provide medical assistance to those who were injured in the course of the military operation.
For its part, the Russian side is ready and willing to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Donbass, who have been affected by this humanitarian catastrophe.
I once again call on the Ukrainian authorities to immediately stop military actions, cease fire, sit down at the negotiating table with Donbass representatives and resolve all the accumulated problems exclusively via peaceful means.
When Pol pot Shenko begged Putin in Minsk to rein in the Donbass, he told fatso “it’s none of my business talk to the militia yourself”
Now he has the temerity to weigh in looking like a voice of reason. It is just political posturing trying to score points while innocents are dying
The way I see it the only reason to let them out is if the commanders officially surrender, lay down their arms and turn over all their war materiel intact
The commanders should be walked out in chains doing the walk of shame and any mercenary or Nazi irregular is terminated with extreme prejudice
All those YouTube videos of Uki atrocities, they are undeserving of mercy
It’s not Putin’s call. It will only enrage Obama even more to be shown up yet again by Putin
The end game for the west has always been complete sanctions against Russia
If Uki commanders think they can call time out while being routed Chocolate boy will just keep pouring conscripts into the meat grinder
A horrible death in the cauldron should ignite massive protests against conscription. Kiev must be overthrown by what’s left of Ukraine
Zakharchenko said they are gone for good. Consider the morale implications
I wrestled in high school. When you have your opponent on his back ready to be pinned you don’t let him up off the mat
Revenge of the Moskal
Putin has a good heart.
After I read what he said I thought to myself: ” I will never hear such humanity from any of my presidents”.
Sad. Isn’t it?
Meanwhile, in the face of the unspeakable Evil it has enabled and unleashed, the Emperor of the West could only proffer up a foppish, ghastly “We don’t have a strategy yet”, leaving his sycophants and anti-sycophants scrambling to steer the debate to the color of his suit.
The West is dying by its own hand – but at least the writhing corpse is looking FABULOUS.
Long live Russia. May she preserve whatever soul humanity may have left.
“A humanitarian corridor”
For those that do not have English as their mother tongue, what that means is that the troops leave without their weapons, but they also leave without surrendering – for ‘humanitarian’ reasons. This way they avoid death in Novorussia and prosecution in the Ukraine for surrender and desertion.
This is a a very smart diplomatic way of saying pretty much what the Novorussian military forces are saying – only without the word “surrender”.
Now we see the brilliance of Russia’s move a month ago where they did – in practise – provide a ‘humanitarian corridor’ for the first troops caught in a cauldron. They are leveraging that action a month ago for real diplomatic and PR effect.
Of course, Putin was careful only to specify the Ukrainian army and its’ conscripts – not the Right sector troops or the National Guard.
A clear statement if ever there was one on the limits to his compassion.

Statement on Russian Presidential website directly addressed to the militia of NovoRossiya:
1. For first time Putin addresses rebels directly instead of “third person”.
2. Calls them by the name “militia of NovoRosiya”. 1st big step to recognition of independence? NovoRossiya shall be
3. Comes on heels of Lavrov yesterday for first time mentioning possibility of independence for Donbass, rather than Kremlin’s goal up till now which was “federalism”
4. Lauds success of militia in saving civilians being attacked by Kiev –
Their cause is just and moral
5. Urges NAF to open humanitarian corridor to let trapped Ukrainian troops surrender to Russia and from there to send them home (to stir unrest there) – shows mercy, shows his war is not with Ukrainians just with Kiev regime
6. Recognizes that much of Ukrainian army has been forcibly conscripted against their will by Kiev regime
Further Analysis – no more fears Putin will throw NAF completely under the bus for deal with West, expect more and more support, expect change in Russian domestic media tone more supportive of NAF cause
Post Script – At almost same time Obama makes speech confirming once again that the US (and thus NATO) will NOT confront Russia militarily in Ukraine http://bigstory.ap.org/article/obama-rules-out-us-military-action-ukraine
This is a great way to win “hearts and minds”. Their family’s will appreciate it.
When they get home they might agitate against Porky.
If the MSM reports it, they will be reporting that there are pockets of trapped soldiers, something that’s unknown in the west.
The goal is to win the war not stack the dead.
I think the militia has always had a policy that if the Ukr troops surrendered and gave up their arms and equipment, they could cross to Russia. So I’m not sure what this is about. Instead of making nice-sounding statements Putin should send counter-battery teams to silence Ukr artillery that’s terrorizing civilians.
“I call on the militia groups to open a humanitarian corridor for Ukrainian service members who have been surrounded, so as to avoid any needless loss of life, giving them the opportunity to leave the combat area unimpeded and reunite with their families, to return them to their mothers, wives and children, and to quickly provide medical assistance to those who were injured in the course of the military operation.” Russian PM Putin

Russia’s Putin urges release of Ukrainian soldiers
“I’m calling on insurgents to open a humanitarian corridor for Ukrainian troops who were surrounded in order to avoid senseless deaths,” Putin said in the statement published on the Kremlin’s web-site in the early hours on Friday.”
Note the change from “militias” to “insurgents”. The ziofascist propagandists at AP are not reporting news at all. They are converting news into propaganda. In fact most of the story was about the BS claims of Russian invasion of the Ukraine that make Goebbels look credible. The above quote was the only part actually quoted from Putin, and even that little bit they falsified.
вот так
Well, this is how Novorossia and Russia have always proceeded, exfiltrating Ukrainian surrenders towards Russia, sorting to keep the criminals among them, and letting all those who were not personnally involved in war crimes, go back to Ukraine (with, in the past, the further possibility of seeking refuge in Russia).
All this was certainly approved by RF presidency.
Why does, today, the Russian President himself speak it aloud? I mean, President Putin, as far as I know, never does anything useless. So, what can be the use of this declaration? I suppose it is a question of public relations but I don’t see what exactly. Maybe has he secured some mainstream media who have seen the wind “change direction”, and wants to give them a way of changing the masses’ opinion of himself? I suppose there are other possible meanings?

Ukraine crisis: Putin urges safe passage for surrounded government troops
Statement comes after U.S. says Russia lying about role in escalating conflict
The Associated Press Posted: Aug 29, 2014 3:25 AM ET Last Updated: Aug 29, 2014 3:27 AM ET
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin on Friday called on pro-Russian separatists to release Ukrainian soldiers who have been surrounded by the rebels in eastern Ukraine.
Putin’s statement came several hours after Ukraine accused Russia of entering its territory with tanks, artillery and troops, and Western powers accused Moscow of lying about its role and dangerously escalating the conflict.
NATO said at least 1,000 Russian troops are in Ukraine and later released what it said were satellite photos of Russian self-propelled artillery units moving last week
“I’m calling on insurgents to open a humanitarian corridor for Ukrainian troops who were surrounded in order to avoid senseless deaths,” Putin said in the statement published on the Kremlin’s web-site in the early hours on Friday.
Putin did not address the claims about Russia’s military presence in Ukraine. Instead, he lauded the pro-Russian separatists whom he described as “insurgents” for “undermining Kyiv’s military operation which threatened lives of the residents of Donbass and has already led to a colossal death toll among civilians.”
Rebels demand surrender
Putin’s statement could be referring to Ukrainian troops who have been trapped outside the strategic town of Ilovaysk, east of Donetsk, for nearly a week now. Protesters rallied outside the Ukrainian General Staff on Thursday, demanding reinforcements and heavy weaponry for the troops outside Ilovaysk, most of whom are volunteers.
A top rebel leader in the rebel stronghold of Donetsk promptly reacted to Putin’s appeal but said the Ukrainian troops would have to lay down the arms before they were allowed to go.
“With all our respect to Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the president of a country which gives us moral support, we are ready to open humanitarian corridors to the Ukrainian troops who were surrounded with the condition that they surrender heavy weaponry and ammunition so that this weaponry and ammunition will not be used against us in future,” Alexander Zakharchenko said on Russia’s state Rossiya 24 television.
Two columns of tanks and other equipment entered southeastern Ukraine at midday on Thursday, following heavy shelling of the area from Russia that forced overmatched Ukrainian border guards to flee, according to Col. Andriy Lysenko, a spokesman for Ukraine’s national security council.
Obama rules out military action
U.S. President Barack Obama spoke with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who has been a key power broker between the West and Russia, and both leaders agreed Russia must face consequences for its actions.
Obama ruled out a military confrontation between the U.S. and Russia. He said Russia’s activity in Ukraine would incur “more costs and consequences,” though these seemed to be limited to economic pressure that will be discussed when Obama meets with European leaders at a NATO summit in Wales next week.
In a phone conversation with Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko late on Friday, Merkel assured the Ukrainian leader of her support for “decisive actions” that could be taken at a European Council meeting on Aug. 30, Poroshenko’s press office said.

‘militia’? The Novo Army Commanders are going to be upset! j/k
It seems like Putin is trying to do all he can to squash the violence…. but letting enemy troops just walk away, to rejoin the army later? I don’t know… at the very least you think they would be detained in Russia until the end of hostilities. Do you think they could be doing this for intelligence reasons? Maybe flip a few key people, and get them re-inserted into the Ukrainian army?
To the CIA officer reading these comments:
No matter whose side you’re on, it is becoming increasingly clear that Russia has foreseen events in a way that the United States appears not to have. In the situation that has been created, only a bombing campaign within Russia, a la Laos and Cambodia, not to mention North Vietnam, could prolong the conflict.
Is the CIA really just an arm of war profiteers and narcotics dealers (cf. Afghanistan)? That would be a pity.
It is the novoRusdian militia that has won the battles and not putin who has no moral ground to say snything to winning militia because putin has betrayed them to please the anglos who will never stop hating Russia anyway.
Putin the polotician is without principles and backbone.
China is taking notes on ‘The Way of Putin”.
His rock-solid confidence and well-planned operations are exemplary for the Chinese to emulate. They also will be emboldened to stand up to Japan and the U.S. in the East China Sea and South China Sea.
The Hegemon has made Putin the number one leader in the world. He has a relatively small country, one-third the U.S, one tenth China, far behind in development on many fronts, yet he has a clear vision.
What we are watching is monumental world history. It is the beginning of the long decline of an Empire. That Empire will take decades more to dissolve.
But Putin has already fractured the claw-like grip of the Hegemon on major parts of the world.
He has only just begun to make his strategic moves that will liberate Russia, Eurasia and the people of the United States itself from the idée fixe that might makes right and only the U.S. can possess that might.
Putin projects a philosophy and a vision that is quite 21st Century. We are in the 15th year of our new Century but are mired in the same 20th Century nightmares that ruined 100 years of life on the planet.
Putin is waking the world to a fresh day, a new goal, a better life for all. It is quite Russian and quite human. It is legalistic, cooperative, flexible and collegial.
This is how and why China has joined with Russia in a quite extraordinary relationship to co-develop Eurasia and to defeat the Hegemon, particularly NATO.
Prosperity and peaceful relationships are at the heart of the notion of Eurasia.
We are watching a Master at work.

What you missed IMO is the huge psychological effect this should have on the Western Ukraine population.Could easily crash Kiev.

Anunnaki,
Putin has always been the voice of reason regarding Ukraine — but given those Russian tankers shipping oil to Europe *to be paid for in rubles*, any talk of sanctions at this point is whistling into the wind. And Obama ruled out war, bc there’s no way we’d win it, Foggy Rasmussen and Gen. Breedlove’s fantasies notwithstanding.
Putin doesn’t have to lift a finger; we’ve, erm, emasculated ourselves.
More deaths, more destruction, of course — that’s what we do best. But the game, the big game, is over. And. We. Lost. It’s just a matter of what-all we’ll do on the way down.
Carmel by the Sea,
Welcome back! And yes. I can’t think of a single leader we’ve ever had who showed such genuine interest in the welfare of his people. Ever.
Gayle,
Yes. It’s quite likely to get quite bad here but we’ve got the government we deserve, and won’t get a better one until we do something appropriate and effective about it.

Why is Vladimir Putin Referring to Eastern Ukraine as ‘New Russia’? (with map)
[map] The area of ‘New Russia’ which Putin now refers to in Ukraine.(WikiCommons)
[.]
Putin’s use of the nostalgic term rings of similar calls of historical ties to the Crimea region before Russia annexed the peninsula, again heightening fears that the Imperial Russian Bear has its sights set on territory that they still believe to be Russian at heart.
The Ukrainian regions that “Novorossiya” refers to are Donetsk, Odessa, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk. Putin has repeatedly stated his intention to protect ethnic Russians living in these regions due to the strong cultural connection between them and “Mother Russia”.
“We must do everything to help these people to protect their rights and independently determine their own destiny,” he said in April.
Ukraine is in both Russia’s perceived “sphere of influence” and the “shared neighbourhood” with the European Union and the Nato military alliance. It is a nation torn between the attraction of a modern West and its own eastern Soviet history.
Approximately 21% of Ukraine’s population is Russian and it has deep cultural and historical links with Russia. The Russian ambassador to Ukraine has even stated that “Ukrainians and Russians are a single nation”.
For now, it seems that Putin, like his ambassador, is intent on framing the Ukrainian rebels as an extension of Russia itself and as part of a “New Russia”.
Whether his future actions reflect the controversial rhetoric remains to be seen, but to label the rebels as a “Novorossiya” militia itself is a politically-charged move which is sure to agitate Kiev’s elite.”

Mr. Putin has had enough. This morning, clearly in defense of the peoples of rhe Republic Donetsk and Lugansk Mr. Putin had some direct words for Kiev:
Putin: Kiev’s shelling in E. Ukraine reminiscent of Nazi actions during WWII

The president also commented on Kiev’s military units that are currently surrounded and blocked by anti-government militia. According to the latest data, Kiev has refused to try and negotiate safe passage for them to retreat.
“I think this is a colossal mistake that will lead to a lot of human casualties,” Putin said.
The Ukrainian leadership has demonstrated its inability to bring the situation under control, the Russian president said, urging talks between Kiev and the country’s east.
“Our partners’ position is clear to me,” he said. “Yes, there should be talks, but in the mean time we need to let Ukrainian troops to do a bit of shooting – maybe they will get the situation under control.”

Searching for WW3: Poland and Ukraine Closes Airspace for Russian Defense Minister’s Plane
Does Poland Ukraine have alt modes for supply of gas?
I believe that a major factor in Putin’s approach is that released army prisoners (not not neonazis or criminals) will most likely go home and report the true situation (bad equipement, bad training, bad strategy, bad tactics, bad morale) and that each one will
1. spread the real news instead of the Kiev hero-propaganda
2. become one more agitator against this criminal civil war

BS. Putin has not been “dithering” and inactive. Your speculation that his strategy and tactics have “cost thousands of lives” is just that — unfounded speculation. American Kulak’s analysis (in a previous thread) is much more rational and likely — overt military intervention by Russia would have been Z-Big’s “wet dream”… Net harm to the Russian people and Federation from early, overt military intervention likely greater in the long run. Southeastern Ukrainians have stood up to the Nazi challenge, and with some plausibly deniable assistance from Russia (and overt, private assistance from Russians) are winning. Let’s review just that much: winning. This is the important and necessary first step to an independent Novorossiya. The second step is a truly popular uprising — the magnitude of that remains to be seen.

Ukraine is collapsing. But it make take the EUA project for company. They are acknowledging that being washington’s whore comes with a price. UK is about to collapse if the scots secede to live with their own resources instead of being curtailed by England. France is also collapsing politically and economically. Britain wants to secede. Spain is about to loose Catalonya, and if that happens the Vasc country and perhaps northwestern Galicia will follow suit. The Venetians want to secede as well as the north of Italy which is the industrial part with good relations with Russia. EU is an
untenable project.
On the military aspects, NATO cannot confront Russia, as admitted by a former general of NATO in an interview to The Guardian, only yesterday.
In short, the Euians are no longer in a position for further threats and even frau Merkel has brushed aside yesterday USAian pretention for hegemony.
Novorossya will include Odessa, Dnipro and Kharkiv. What will remain of Ukraine cut from access to the sea, will survive due to the Chinese buying their prairies for extensive agriculture, and selling whatever Russia, its only real friend, will concede to purchase.
And Novorossya will thrive.

Some seem to be questioning Putin’s logic of requesting that the NAF setup a humanitarian corridor to allow the UAF forces to leave the battle zone.
Putin is referring to exit via the Russian Shramko border post (see Google maps). Unfortunately, Porky has given the order that no one will surrender. Porky had previously initiated formal charges against some 1073 UAF soldiers that crossed the Russian border under a white flag.
Given this background, If UAF soldiers frag their officers and leave the battlespace they know that return to Ukraine is not possible leaving internment in Russia or joining the NAF forces as the only options. Thus Putin’s offer to allow them to return to their families is a non-started dictated by Porky.
UAF troops that go to Russia will be segregated to identify war criminals (well documented by Russia) and the rest provided humanitarian treatment. The press will be allowed to document the event and the stories of the UAF troops. This serves as good PR for Russia and undercut the authority of Porky.
Finally, the UAF trooops will be able to call home and the news will cause protests and revolts against the Junta in many parts of the areas controlled by the Junta.
We are seeing the partition of Ukraine. As Porky is a puppet, All of the Novorussia deaths are ultimately caused by US, NATO, IMF, NGO war machine. Otherwise, Ukraine could have been peacefully partitioned as was Czechoslovakia.
For those who follow the economic situation in Ukraine, the economy is totally collapsing and there is no coal (must be imported from US or Australian) or gas for winter and no money to buy them. The only solution will for Western Ukraine to steal gas from the EU storage in Ukraine, which means the EU will freeze this winter.
If the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast joins the rest of Novorussia Novorussia will gain a RUclear power station complex that should be able to provide a lot of energy to the rest of Novorussia:

Great speech by Putin. If he hadn’t mentioned the Ukies were encircled Western MSM would’ve maintained the Ukies were winning everywhere but near Mariupol for another week or two until the Ukie POWs from the pocket were marched live on Russian TV across the border into ‘refugee camps’ with barbed wire around them. Or until the looming terror (false flag) attacks by ISIS drive Ukraine to the back pages, which seems to be the Western banksters game plan while they try to figure out how to salvage this train wreck in Kiev. Obviously — and I think Larchmonter and Nora would agree — there is a high risk for a wave of ISIS terror on or about the 9/11 anniversary.

This day has been the afterfeast of what in Orthodoxy is sometimes called ‘Little Easter’ – the final great feast of the church year, the feast of the Dormition of the Holy Theotokos, birthgiver of God.
I mention it only because I think of it as a time of reconciliation, of the love between mother and son, a bond so important in Orthodoxy as the icons give full expression, and this feast commemorates.
May that holy benevolence extend to all the mothers and all the sons, and may peace finally come to this wartorn world.
My thanks to President Putin for doing his utmost to accomplish this.
