No doubt President Putin is a scholar and a gentleman. Together he and President Xi of China personify true statesmen and men of substance and intelligence. However, I must say that I am very saddened and disappointed with President Putin’s response to the LGBT issue.
Fair enough he stressed that Russia wants to prevent homosexual propaganda being exposed to children as well as the absurdity of gender fluidity but, and this is a big but, he obviously did not want to totally discredit the gay lobby and offend anyone by stating that Russia practices no biases against gays and that it’s up to the individual to choose their homosexual lifestyle. To me this says “yep we have no problem with gays and they are welcome in Russia”. This message can be interpreted in a way that says homosexuality (in adults) is a normal situation and can stay alongside traditional lifestyles. This is an opening to people especially the young who have been corrupted by Western ideals and are just waiting for some level of acceptance no matter how small. This is a very dangerous situation for Russian society – its traditions, family and morals. I’m sure Mr Putins lack of condemnation of the homosexual lifestyle has provided that little gateway that some in Russia and outside of Russia are waiting to take advantage of.
Of course, I am not saying that gays are to be violently dealt with but I think Mr Putins reaction would have been more appropriate if he had responded by saying that as an Orthodox Christian he knows that homosexuality is a sin and that there’s really nothing more to discuss. He could have also included a non-religious perspective on why homosexuality is wrong noting medical, psychological and ethical reasons of which there are hundreds. Additionally he could have said that there are far more important issues affecting the world like how to stop the slaughter of countless people everyday in the planet’s hotspots. My point is that the more airtime given to this choice of abomination the more it will lays its foundation in societies that are still trying to stop its spread.
Please Mr Putin this spread of “LGBTism” is a dangerous threat to the remaining part of the world that has tried to keep it at bay. By tryiing to be diplomatic and politically correct with its supporters you are only giving them more strength. Either it should be dismissed outrightly when it is mentioned or condemned with factual religious and non-religious reasons. The world I doubt will be destroyed by nuclear missiles but it will be destroyed by a filthy immoral force that is getting stronger and stronger.
I cried for Macedonia on the 29th of June when it held its first gay parade. Not only have we lost our identity but also our way. Be careful Russia, China and others because it may happen to you too.
Clearly President Putin has faith in the strength of Russian society and is quite correct in his tolerant attitude.
Wasn’t it Christ who preached tolerance? He wasn’t afraid of associating with immoral (in your terms) people.
But your strident intolerance betrays how little faith you have in your own belief system, which must be weak to be threatened by such a small minority of people peacefully expressing themselves.
History is full of reactionaries like you who have taken the side of oppression against minorities, led quite often by Christian (or Muslim, or Orthodox) “believers”. History is dripping with the blood of believers.
Stacked up against such a real record of the sin of aggressive war and oppression, the “sins” of homosexuality or gender non-conformance are hardly worth mentioning.
The bad news (for you and your kind) is that oppressed minorities fight back and though it may take centuries, they win recognition and tolerance, because truth eventually overcomes whatever religious nonsense you might be peddling.
I certainly wouldn’t say Mr Putin is tolerant of the LGBT lifestyle. He isn’t. In fact he has made a number of comments in the past that are obviously anti-gay. But in this instance he’s trying to be politically correct to appease his foreign audience and others in my opinion. We all know how this political correctness can threaten the fundamentals of society. As for your response to my comment I respect what you have to say but no one on this earth will convince me that the LGBT lifestyle is a normal one.
….and yet no doubt unconvinceable makedonia is zealous on convincing others that his perspective is the only truth…. due to the programming received from early childhood.
besides what does being normal mean ..? usual , typical, common traditional is Normal a barometer of what is Intelligent ? lets all be NORMAL zzzzzzzz
Not trying to convince anyone. Just expressing my opinion. I’m sure visitors to this site are intelligent enough to make up their own minds on this and other topics. Yes you bring up a good point – one mans view of normalcy is another man’s madness but in the end there is always a right way and a wrong way.
If you also are Orthodox Christian (like your hero VVP) then you are one of a small small group of a relatively small group – less than one third of humanity count themselves “Christian”.
No one on this earth will convince me that the Orthodox Christian lifestyle is a normal one.
All things being equal you too, therefore, should be hounded as abnormal.
Frankly, I prefer the use of non-religious arguments on the issue of LGBT. I think arguments against LGBT based on medical reasoning, science, psychology, morals and ethics have an equal standing with the relgious perspective. However in response to your sarcastic comment regarding the Orthodox faith, I will say I am a Christian first snd foremost regardless of denomination. I believe as according to the scriptures homosexuality is a sin. And take note, all the major world religions including Islam, Buddhism etc do not support homosexuality. Even the Dalai Lama has been quoted thus. Therefore when I look at religion as a whole it seems that I am actually part of the majority rather than the minority you mentioned.
Homosexuality is a psychological condition – a misunderstanding of signs – and is indicative of an immature mind, often (not always) paired with narcissm which is a result of trauma in childhood left untreated, unrecognized.
Why are they not the norm ?
Because otherwise there would be no mankind, simple as that.
Indicative of homosexuality being a psychological condition is the fact that there are periods in history where it was prevalent in certain strata of society both in roman- and greek- culture, or in modern times during Nazism (though covered) – it is called the ‘german disease’ for a reason.
One sick reason being in rich families to allow ‘cold’ untied marriages in order to keep the inheritance intact, because the heart is a dangerous thing.
It is very, very obvious that sex is not a thing of choosing being a social being, a DNA test easily confirms that.
There is no need to propagate socially deviant behaviour, unless one likes to shoot oneself in the foot.
But there is as well no need to criminalize it as long public order and law is not jeopardized.
I have met many gays, some of them very intelligent and sensitive people and some being openly and brazenly anti-hetero. It’s true a heterosexual relationship is manyfold more complicated than a same sex relationship – for a reaon – to grow and complement oneself with the other !
Many, many women have multiple same sex relationships in their teens years with no adverse effect on their maturing and being hetero sexual – they recognize and appreciate the difference and the wish to become MOTHER – a concept forever alien to a homo and his condemnation at the same time – being a superfluos parasite basically being excluded from wholeness.
There is a reason for the affinity of gays to fascism – the cult of men – ludicrous, poisonous and insane !
And then there is the evil corner of gay paederasts who project their trauma unto others being the same they were – and to fall.
As you can see there is a straight line to hell, and hell it is indeed !
Gays have always existed, and it is not going to be made compulsory. I thought Putin hit precisely the right note-‘live and let live’, but keep the LGBTQI etc Lobby out of our society with their arrogant prescriptive social subversion, all part and parcel of the West’s loathsome and entirely fraudulent moral superiority posturing.
It’s all part and parcel of the nee-trotzkyte project of the Masters of Universe to homogenize society to the lowest possible friction factor (you need to be able to operate an apple pad and understand the adds), to increase wealth generation from the atomized molasse at maximum theoretical rate.
Most likely we will have to shoot people in order to stop it, unless a miracle happens beforehand – The Chinese can tell you the whole story…..
Im sorry everyone. I have posted my comment under the wrong article. This comment is referring to Mr Putin’s interview with the Financial Times. I have re-posted it there. Once again my sincere apologies.
As always from VP, intelligent, well informed and sober responses to the media´s questions.
I found very interesting his linkage of European agricultural subsidies vs mass immigration vs agricultural subsidies to the home countries of emigres.
Made me wonder if Merkel´s “cardinal error” of allowing the immigration of a million uneducated Asians and Africans is motivated by reducing the labour costs of her clients in the land-owning elite in anticipation of break up of the EU and the consequential loss of their public funded subsidies.
I believe Thierry Meyssan of Voltaire.net has from the beginning of the migrant “crisis” opined that a driver of Merkel’s policy was the need for cheap labor in Germany.
But in earlier days, the cheap labor was obtained via Gastarbeiter, not “migrants.” That is, via letting actual workers come and work in Germany. A lot people didn’t like this system, and certainly many Gastarbeiter stayed in Germany. But it was conceived as a temporary arrangement because the labor was needed. Also, I think most of the Gastarbeiter had more skills than the majority of current migrants. Also, most of them came without families. Also, most of them came from countries with a closer cutltural relationship to Germany than the current migrants (most of the Gastarbeiter came from Italy, Yugoslavia, Turkey, Greece, and a few other Balkan countries. Virtually none came from the MENA).
So, although the need for cheap labor is probably one factor driving Merkel’s policy, IMO it is not enough to explain the wholesale opening of borders to hunderds of thousands of migrants. In particular because there are many descendants of Germans who are refused citizenship in Germany. So, the whole picture is weird, IMHO.
I heard a member of the House of Lords in the UK put forward that statement, that Germany opened her borders because of the need for cheap labour in an interview a couple years ago on another subject, (can’t remember what now.) Maybe that indicates the possible source of this idea.
VVP answered questions on a variety of topics, yet the LGTBW issue dominated the initial comments in this thread, and the problem with the LGTBW (W stands for “whatever”) is that compared to certain other issues such as not having a war with Iran, actually fighting terrorism by not funding proxy fighters, not forcing North Korea to have nukes so that it can avoid the Lybian fate, and oh yes, following international rules and laws, LGTBW is just not that important.
I believe this understanding of the relevant importance of these issues explains his attitude.

The gay parade in makedonia took place from 18June until 22 June, in Thessaloniki, what are you talking about?
I was talking about the one in the city of Skopje not the one in Greek occupied Macedonia.
