And so the chessmaster has finally made his move.
And of course, he would have preferred not to do it. But “this is the situation” on the chessboard. And when one moves, it’s better to make it count and take advantage.
This is monumental. This is the beginning of the end of the USA empire. Bravo Putin
Oh come on … you have not listened to this speech but yet you comment.
This is a request to all. Before you shoot out Einstein level dumb comments, hear this first.
I’ve listened to his speech, and it’s BRILLIANT! My daughter woke me up with repeated VK messages, telling me to watch Sputnik. She’s 5 hours earlier than me and Moscow is 7 hours earlier.
Absolutely classic Putin in action.
Great too, the fact that he delivers this masterpiece of a blend between a history lesson and an ultimatum with such calm poise, seated and with the confidence of a judge delivering a decision.
This guy can state facts from memory for literally hours on end. Compare him to outrageous lying imbecilic troublemakers like the 3Bs… Biden, Blinken, and Bojo… the contrast could hardly be more stark.
I love the 43-minute mark where Putin calmly rattled off the 13 countries and dates involved in NATO’s expansion eastward as an example of how the West never acts honourably in its dealings with Russia… just another example that its one and only goal is to contain the development of this independent nation using their main tools of trade… constant lies, blackmail, broken promises, and never-ending sanctions.
I await with beers and popcorn in hand in anticipation of Putin’s next lesson to these morons. I just hope that some major European countries will finally come to their senses and realise that Putin is actually on their side.
This may just be a major escalation in the degeneration of the EU and NATO as viable entities in terms of both relevance and ultimately even in regard to their very survival… not to mention a majorly powerful kick in the teeth of the Mr Global collective.
Onwards and upwards

Respectable opinion in the USA (Harvard’s Emeritus Professor Lawrence Tribe) is that an American who supports Putin’s action should be considered guilty of “treason”.
I suppose the Western elites have to attempt to shape public opinion, knowing that no matter how absurd their position may be, it can be reliably sold to a large fraction of the public, particularly a public as naive and poorly educated as most Americans.
Hi William
Yes, I saw that, but famed Harvard Law Prof Tribe has had a wee rethink and deleted his tweet.
Where on earth has Murica come to when journalism questioning US foreign policy is regarded as treason… ummm… oh yes that’s right… dumbarse rhetorical question on my part.

I can’t make sense of the captioning translation to english. Rats… gotta wait for the saker and others’ analysis.
Putin looks miffed, though.
it will all be here eventually

Man oh man, that guy was pissed off!
Well played, Vlad. As CS has said, best move under the circumstances. Russia has urged Ukraine to abide by the Minsk agreements, to talk with the authorities in Donbass, to reach a ceasefire. All to no avail.
True, the Germans might cancel Nordstream 2 under US/NATO pressure; but if Donbass, and perhaps Lugansk. are detached from the Maidan thugs, it will be a net gain.
cant remember when and where but there was information that gazprom will not lose anything if ns2 is destroyed but several gernan and switz companies might.
Yes!!!
The long hand of Russia will reach to those who burned the trade unionists alive in Odessa. Putin just promised to bring them to justice. Putin’s anger can hardly be contained, as he’s speaking for all of us, denouncing the corruption and criminal depravity of the 404 Ukronazis.
This is a historical, cathartic, moment, and I feel privileged to be witnessing it, and sharing it with others, thanks to the Saker.
I have long waited for this recognition.
Enough suffering for the heroic people of LDNR!
The hand of justice will fall on the neo-Nazis, and Russia will be the instrument to punish those beasts.
Lone Wolf
He seems to be making the case that Ukraine already isn’t and never was a sovereign state, it was hijacked by oligarchs and now by NGOs and foreign powers to be weaponized as a nationalistic tool against Russia, and it is proceeding to acquire nuclear weapons for use against Russia.
@ John
Indeed – He laid the case that Ukraine is a construct from Russian / Soviet history which should have been resolved properly in the 1990’s.
As per nukes:
https://www.rt.com/russia/550138-ukraine-nuclear-weapons-capability/
Was reading about this the other day. Lenin saw independent nations as anti imperialist and helped Ukrainisation
BRAVO PUTIN!!!
Russia has tried with great patience, and at great sacrifice from the people of Donbass, to implement the Minsk agreements. It was always a long shot and is now impossible.
I expect the two republics will be recognised by Russia, and a revised and expanded Union State to come about. This will probably include all of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.
I also expect a similar recognition of the Galicia region in western Ukraine by the U.S. and the EU. This will leave Kiev, Mariupol and Odessa swinging in the wind. It looks like Europe might get its very own Idlib, and like its namesake in Syria, Turkey will be in the thick of that hotbed of instability.
Russia really needs to find a way to take all the territory from the Donbass to Mariupal and a strip along the north coast of the Black Sea, going through Odessa and continuing to the Moldava border. Likewise this strip should extend eastward across the north of Crimea and continuing across the north coast of the Sea of Azov.
Antoinetta III
Thank you, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, President of the Russian Federation.
May Allah bless this act of justice.
May the suffering of the heroic people of LDNR end here.

i am left with the feeling that i just witnessed a historical moment.
At 2:36pm EST, on February 21, 2022, President Putin made the announcement to formally recognize LPR, DPR as independent sovereign nations.
This historic event will be a full chapter in Saker’s new book that I hope he is in the process of thinking about writing.
I will be one of the first in line to buy a hard copy!
It’s done, he signed. Now we enter a new phase. Does anybody know if the territory of the LDNR is that currently under control or it includes the whole former provinces?
Wow!! That was a blockbuster speech by Putin. And a very dignified signing ceremony. Almost humbling to watch history being made.
Hallelujah… Honor and respect to Mr. Putin.. long awaited, it was…
This just in: Germany sends cargo aircraft to Ukraine full of toilet paper and clean underwear for Ukronaziz who thought they had gotten away with the Odessa massacre.
Ukronazis: “thanks but its not enough”
You made my day.
After 50 minutes of preamble, Putin announced the decision to recognize the independence of the LDNR. Yet, along the way, he made it clear that Ukraine is under an illegitimate regime and that it is as such a threat to Russian security. Then, a rather menacing: “You want decommunization?… We are ready to show you what real decommunization is like for Ukraine.”
Will the Ru military move into the LDNR as a peacekeeping force? An ultimatum for the VSU to leave the republics? Something more seems in the offing here.
We agree with you, Walter. With this signed agreement, will this allow Russia to send troops into those two areas?
Will Donbas and Luhansk be included, financially and economically with Russia and China’s One Belt One Road? Will their currency have to be changed to accomplish One Belt One Road.
As for the US: it will be interesting to see how its power will respond to this deft move by President Putin.
I am unclear as to what decommunization means.
Can anyone explain?
Thanks.
I’m sorry – I’m trying to understand – does the Donbass independent region and Luhansk independent region include the entireity of the regions within the Ukraine, or just the eastern parts?
We don’t yet know that. The LNR and DNR will have to explain as its theirs, sort of.
I may well be wrong, but I would suggest that it includes the Donbass & Luhansk Oblasts.
I would hope this opens the floodgates for the rest of Novorossiya to secede from the Ukro-Nazi Heimat and join with these two oblasts in their entirety. Both Kiev and its Western patrons seemed to ignore all precedent for the legitimacy of the Donbass republics’ secession in the aftermath of the illegal putsch in the Maidan. Neither they nor Crimea were obligated to accept the overthrow of their legitimate government. You can bet that Washington would have argued the same in any possible scenario except this one affecting Russia’s borders and relations with its neighbors. Look what Washington did to Yugoslavia–vivasecting it to pieces and gouging out entirely new Islamic states in Bosnia and Kosovo to suit America’s geopolitical purposes. It tried the same kind of partition of Iraq and Syria, mainly to cut out territory to create new Kurdish republics the permanence of which remains to be seen.
That may have been possible in 2014. But since then the punitive battalions Azov and Adair have purged the native populations of the East so that most have had to flee either to Russia or to the EU. The current government in Kiev is hated by nearly all, but they have arrested or killed all the possible leaders in the opposition.
It will be interesting to see if the puppet government in Kiev falls soon without further intervention.
Listening on Russia 1 right now.
I think it’s basically anti dollar hegemony move. Poor Germany and the life of vassal.
BINGO! Always, down below lies the true currents. It’s a signal that sanctions will have no affect on Russia. It’s a challenge to the US to go ahead and push Russia to turn off the gas valves. With more money going out for energy (to US NG) there will be less money for Europeans to fund NATO; NATO will be stressed to the breaking point and, as should have happened many years ago, tossed into history’s trash bin.
Syria is my biggest interest. I want to see Russia boot the US (and Turkey) out of Syria (and watch ISIS get turned to dust).
Okay come on we need anlysis. Where the Saker and the interesting guy Andrei make videos???
Watched on RT and some of the west media. Those people (west media) are disgusting liars. Love to see they’re in like shock President Putin is defying them. Imagine the blinkenstein and other filthy ones how they’re feeling like the demons Christ drove out of the possessed man when gave permission to enter the swine. I imagine tney feel the same. If only tbey could drown themselves.
.
My opinion looks good to see what appears to be Russia doing what is good for Russia, taking lead, and will prevail against the evil American government.
Mabruk!
Brilliant speech by the RF president, to his russian audience.
Congratulations to fellow humans and comrades in Novorussia. And congratulations to the Russian people for its leadership finally moving to stop these euroatlantic predators, drunken by the blood of the Arabs, africans and Muslims and enraged by the progress of China and Russia.
We will see how the empire of creative chaos and its regional neonazis will react (or not). Our Canadian regime media is already in meltdown.
May lives be saved and slavs avoid killing each other.
What was the straw that broke the camel’s back? I thought that Putin and Lord Biden had agreed to yet another face-to-face meeting brokered by Macron? I assumed it would merely represent just one more facile delaying tactic or propaganda stunt by Washington, but something more must have irked Putin enough to do what many had been suggesting for a long time–position Russia for the kinetic war to come.
So, now the die is cast and war would seem inevitable, unless Kiev chooses to be smart rather than suicidal. Any predictions on Zelensky’s immediate moves? Quick personal change of address to somewhere in North America as some have been hinting (recommending)? Nice fat pension from Washington for a job well done as a Judas Goat to lead his nation of imbeciles to their demise in the service of Exceptionalist Hegemony?
May be that Zelensky’s rants on Friday and Saturday was enough to pull the trigger. It’s one thing to play the long game when the situation involves more accusations and relatively harmless threats (sanctions from hell); it’s another matter entirely when the President of the Ukraine yells about tearing up the Budapest agreement and starts asking for nuclear weapons.
The straw?
Perhaps Ukraine’s threat to get nuclear weapons in combination with intelligence reports that suddenly made sense.
Does Europe really want a nuclear Ukraine, infested with Nazis, on its doorstep?
Russia will be doing Europe a huge favour if that infestation is removed.
I think “the straw” was when Lavrov, Shoigu and his own security council recommended that this action be taken. Putin finally had to accept that Minsk was indeed a dead letter. The Ukro-Orcs have plainly refused to consider Minsk, and the other “guarantors” of it have failed to apply sufficient arm-twisting to force the Ukraine to the table. And this has been the situation with Minsk for the past eight years.
And even if you did force the Ukraine to the table, why would you expect that the would negotiate in good faith. It would be just years of more talks, semi-optimistic statements and follow up talks, and more talks and yet more talks and after a few years you find that absolutely nothing has changed on the ground, the Donbass is still being shelled, and other such Ukie Orc-work continuing.
Eight years is enough. Time to get on with the next level of the game.
Antoinetta III
Commentary around Macron and Putin’s call indicate that there was a change in the West’s view to Ukraine joining NATO. No one has come out and said what the change was, although some pundits indicated Biden was prepared to offer a ‘moratorium’ on Ukraine’s entry.
As I understand it Ukraine cannot join NATO if its territory is in dispute. So for Ukraine to join NATO with LDNR recognised by Russia and Russia assisting them in maintaining their independence utilizing peacekeepers, operating under R2P (Being from Australia I am well aware of the Doctrine as put forward by one of our Ministers). So NATO countries either publiclly recognize the independence of the LDNR, allowing the remainder of Ukraine to join NATO or NATO never gets to see NATO push up close to Russia’s borders.
None of this stop here though. Russia still has ongoing security concerns that it laid out and is waiting for responses to. I assume that there will be no response to that now. Gas will cease to flow via Ukraine once sanctions are in place and the EU/West are going to have to foot the bill to keep Ukraine afloat. If it wasn’t really 404 previous to this it is going to be well and truly 404 once the gas is turned off.
EU options, go to the US and other Western suppliers of LNG and pay absolute top dollar or go against sanctions and buy thier gas from Russia. Most likely with a caveat N2 must be used to supply it and it is paid for with currency other than the USD. German businesses are going to go crazy until this is resolved one way or another.
Wonderful news and so good to see this act to stand up against NATO.
CONGRATULATIONS and thanks for the live broadcasting of this great event!
Next step – demilitarization of “Kievan Ukraine”. Starting with “suicide” of UkroNazi battalions.
Putin, “I will say for the first time in public, back in 2000 when President Bill Clinton was visiting Moscow at the end of his term, I asked him, ‘How would America see Russia joining Nato?” (no answer).
Putin goes on to mention “our demands for security while the West funds terrorists against us, and others, ignoring international laws, treaties, etc. Why do they do this? You don’t want to see us as friends or allies, but why do you want to make an enemy out of us?”
“The answer we got out of them (the USA) was ‘Its not about our political regime or anything else, it’s just they don’t need a big, independent such as Russia.’ So that’s the answer to all our questions. That’s the source of traditional US policy they pursue and why they react to our proposals with indifference.”
“Kiev only sees a military solution to both republics. So, we will recognize the Donbass Peoples Republic and Lugansk Peoples Republic. ”
Or as Andrei Martyanov said earlier today, “Recognition of LDNR means the start of the process of integration with Russia, and it means the start of the Russian troops rolling to the line of contact with VSU, and they are $hit#ing their pants in Kiev and at the front line.”
There was an amazingly good simultaneous interpreter on rt.com. I really have no idea how that guy could keep up with Putin’s tirade.
It was obvious that Putin was sick to death with trying to reason with the West. He did not lose his cool but I am sure his blood-pressure went up a few notches.
The beautiful room in which the ceremony was held and the refined ladies who carried about the agreements were most instructive. Compare with the British ignoramus of a foreign secretary who had been there a few days earlier.
Yes I noticed same. Putin good confidence and command in his mannerism. Very highly respectable. And is very good to see modest acting and dressed women in those roles.
God bless President Vladimir Putin and beautiful Russia.
A real geo-political watershed moment! and a truly historic, blockbuster presentation by President Putin.
Apart from the recognition announcement and the masterful historical analysis, the part that resonated most powerfully with me, and which the western Power that (presently) be should take very careful note of:
“And we will never concede our sovereignty or national interests and our values. And I want to be frank, in the current situation when our proposals about equitable dialogue, about priciple matters get no response from the US and NATO; when the level of threat to outr country is becoming greater and greater, Russia has every right to to take counter measure to enhance our won security; And that’s how we plan to act.”
Talk about setting a cat among the pigeons! – Bravo President Putin!
A Historic Day February 21 2022 , ( Moscow time) The gloves are off ,Putin Russia has made the move on the chess board and
The World stage, next move To the World Globalists, ?
Thank you
Tom 123
I hope those leaving in Ukraine will finally see lasting peace, as will Europeans.
No western politician I can think of would have laid out the process to the people of his country in such an adult and comprehensive manner. The cause, effect and consequences have been clearly spelt out, the instruments have been signed, requests will be made. Syria Mk.2 with embellishments is in play. This was a historic broadcast. The western politicos now have to make their moves and dispositions.
What is next?
– Lavrov is meeting Blinken on Thursday (if Blinken still wants to keep the meeting), and he will be presented with facts on the ground. The “ATO” is now a Russian protectorate, the question for Blinken would be, “do your puppets want a war they are bound to lose?”
– LDNR will submit their requests to Russia for all kinds of support, which is already being processed from accross the border.
– Russia will transfer some Spetsnaz to LDNR to stop the low intensity terror campaign 404 will launch on the territories, they will be put away in three days. They got all the experience in Kazakhstan.
– Tochka, flamethrowers, EW and other hardware will start moving to the LOC, at the request of the now legitimately recognized LDNR republics.
– 404 is now in consultation with puppet master Biden, requesting instructions on their next step.
It might be a step into the abyss.

Next, they’ll go through the motions. With mandatory hysterical screech from MSM. Soon to be replaced with some royal paedophile scandal or something on that lines.
It was pre-negotiated. It was humiliating for UK/US. It must stay hidden. Hopefully, never mentioned again. Never, ever.
Rinse and repeat.
After hearing this speech, I see clearly that The Saker has been absolutely spot on, not a micron away from accuracy, in assessing the beating heart of Russia.
An invaluable resource indeed, in understanding world affairs. Thank-you.
Thank you, Saker.
The next move for Putin
!) Incorporate the two republics into the CSTO
2) Presently ,Russia has the floor at the UN right now ,Russia should present a case at the UN that Ukraine
Is guild of Genocides ,Ukraine was taken over illegal by Gansters ,and has Weapons of mass destruction
3) Russia ,China and all the other member’s of the CSTO would go in Military in to Ukraine and remove the criminal’s
and all the Weapons and have new elections. ( same ploy that the USA did with Iraq ) the CSTO could stay
There for the next 10 years just like the USA is staying in Iraq To protect the Iraq ‘s..
Tom 123
It is interesting that he chose to give this speech sitting down. That is the body language of a judge. He is rendering a verdict. His body language says that he did not want to do this, but has finally decided to render the discipline that is required.
What will happen with Sloviansk region? It is Donbas teritory. If Minsk 2.0 is void, Ukies should retreat from there too.
If the recognition of sovereignty applies to the whole of both oblasts, there is immediately a slight problem. Namely, tens of thousands of UAF troops are standing on part of that territory.
It is one thing to keep them out; a harder thing to push them out of where they have been.
One of the speakers at the Security Council meeting mentioned that he was in favour of recognising the whole of the two oblasts.
On that basis I assume that for now it is only the area within the LOC that is recognised as independent.
Brass balls! Putin just layed down the gauntlet. You shall not pass! Time for all to answer for their crimes. Putin warned Zelensky to knock it off immediately or face the full military technical response of Russia. I expect Zelensky to flee to the USA soon. With a suitcase full of money. Probably a suitcase with no handle but he’ll carry it in his arm’s. Like the comedian he is.
Just as Biden said there would be no Saigon in Afghanistan due to 300k heavily armed military, and a few weeks later the president of Afghanistan fled with suitcases of cash.
Another American disaster in the making.
If no Russian gas flows west, Ukraine gets no transit fees.
If Germany and the European Union sanction Russia, then from where will Ukraine get its money?
Putin said that the decision to recognise the independance of Donbass should have been made a long time ago. (english translation)
Knowing what he knows today about the intentions of the Ukraine regime in place, he would have done it before.
My question to Putin is this : is this the result of a slow evolution over time, or does it happened suddenly ? Would you have done things differently ?
God saves Putin this is an amazing roua mat!!!
Viva Russia!!!
Grettings from Greece!
“stone age Nationalism and Nazism” , President Putin didn’t pull his punches. Bravo.
Let’s see the squealing from the ‘diplomats’ in the West. If only there were one.
At least Biden, Boris & co. have a real distraction now. What might they do with it?
Someone please archive this historic monologue. This is historic: not just for Russians and Ukrainians, but for all of us.
Many thanks for providing this video.
I concur: Classic Putin as “national leader as history teacher in chief.”
Still, I would love to see/hear the original, with English captions.
Putin’s speeches and responses to questions (e.g., from journalists) are a great opportunity for hearing the Russian language clearly deployed.
Is there an english transcript of this statement? Even a machine text transcript of the translator would be fine.
By the way… I think no one has still linked two interesting passages together:
-Russia will avenge the Odessa massacre;
-statues of Suvorov were taken down in Kiev and Odessa by the current regime; however, It was Suvorov that conquered the access to the Black Sea and the southern border of Ukraine;
I think when you see those statements in perspective, the current unlawful regime in Ukraine is negating not only its soviet history but its history tout court. Someone has to secure the great achievements by Catherine II and General Suvorov, and this burden is on Russia.
Vladimir Vladimirovich used the term ‘anti-communization’. This is a synonym for the term that was actually used by the nationalists and fascists: ‘lustration’, Uk. ‘Люстрація’. The term goes back to the Roman Catholic inquisition (1240-1840). Wikipedia has an article on lustration in Ukraine, without making the connection with the Inquisition. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lustration_in_Ukraine
The best part of his speech: you want decommunization? That is fine by us! But don’t stop half-way. We will show you what is REAL decommunization!
Would someone be so kind as to repeat the name of the Black Sea town that was liberated in the 18th century and the last name of Alexander. I’ve listened twice to the video and still can’t spell it. I’m a history buff and would love to read up on it.
Found it in Kremlin web. Alexander Suvorov in Ochakov. If anyone is interested.
Has someone been able to download this video before It was taken down?
