Your comment reminds me of the situation that France faced in 1944 – a Frenchman defending his very own territory against the invasion by Germans…was called a terrorist by the Germans…and the Germans executed any Frenchman who dared to defend his own country …
So tell me what right does the USA have, to be in Iraq?
Iraq is part of the Shia world…Shia are a majority of the population there…General Soleimani, a Shia, was working with the Iraqi government to see how the USA could be ejected from a part of the world that the USA has no right whatsoever to be in…
For the fact that General Soleimani was defending HIS world against a predatory intruder (The USA)…the USA assassinated him…
Get it?
Hello!
What right does the US have to be thousands of miles from it’s shores and kill and maim men, women and children ?
Does any form of sanity remain in the US government?
I fear a very dismal end to the US empire when it takes on Russia who has nuclear weapons decades ahead of NATO!
Any US citizen with an once of sense should seriously consider emigration. I think you are on your 9th life!
Gail,
First of all, he wasn’t “close to your embassy” he had just arrived at the airport, when you attacked him.
Secondly, he was in Iraq in an official capacity to attend the funeral of the Iraqi citizens that your military had just murdered. He was met at the airport by an Iraqi political figure who had invited him. Both the Iraqi and his Iranian guest Soleimani were killed by the attack that was ordered by your leadership.
Gail, Listen to the wise words of Ron Paul at 1.39
“It does not give us the right to take the law into our own hands, to shoot at diplomats who are just coming into the country, who have the right to, who haven’t caused any offence…”
Ron Paul always says it like it is. He is the one who should have been the US president.
I wonder if anyone noticed that this assassination happened just around the time, when Benjamin Netanyahu bogged down israeli courts with procedures for immunity. And if these procedure have failed, he would’ve landed in a prison for a very long time. Now with Iranians and every one else in the region on war path, he may get free and even back in charge.
Good observation. I’ve no doubt this murder was instigated by Tel Aviv. Several possible aims told to Team Trump: create an excuse for US to reoccupy Iraq in the aftermath of widespread protests post-murder and to reinforce US forces in Syria; demoralise and disrupt Iranian & Shia militia forces; score points with Trump’s supporters in US; help Trump win his impeachment trial. And of course, the main aim, — not stated or downplayed in their directions to their vassals — to help Bibi, who obviously doesn’t want to follow Ehud Olmert’s example, get his immunity.
I don’t think anything will happen to Netanyahu. His “problems” in Israel is all a charade. It fools sheep like people in the US empire that Israel is a “democracy”. The impeachment in the US is same thing. A charade for sheep in the US empire to “think” that the US is a “democracy”. It is all kabuki theatre.
The real theatre is what happens in the games overseas like this assassination.
It is proven that a war far, far away is a good distraction from an impeachment process – if I remember correctly two decades ago Bill Clinton and Co. engineered the entire Serbian bombing show just to distract the americans from the impeachment he was going through after receiving a blowjob in the Oval Orifice (or it was the Oval Office).
This is Netanyahu playing his never-fail Trump-on-his-knees card – things getting a bit dodgy for the shabby little grifter? Right on time Trump’s proud and happy to start Bibi’s long-pimped president–for-life-stay-out-of-jail-war. This is the U.S. serving Israel another middle east war, just in time to keep Netanyahu in power. Next up, Israeli false flags, whether or not the Iranian response is sufficiently savage – since nothing is insufficiently savage for Israel. Who will have to die next to protect our most cherished, fawned-upon, and obsequiously-serviced “ally”?
Suleimani wanted to die a martyr, he did. If the US did this, they did so with the blessing of Khamenei. Iran is on the outside looking in regarding Syria and Suleimani stood in the way of any Iranian departure. Iran can now leave and that will be followed by the US. Sunni’s in Iraq are sure happy about this and I can only assume the Silent Majority in Iran though not celebrating in the Streets are doing so in their homes. Trump finally got rid of Bolton and Iran had to get rid of Suleimani, apparently he didn’t want to resign.
Rod Coffman,”If the US did this”? Obviously this is pure speculation of fantasy on your part. Your assumption/s can obviously be filed in the trash bin of not keeping up with facts on the ground.

Dr Paul, a pretty lonely voice, lays it straight. Well said.

One thing I am sure of: it won’t be Israelis.
Suleimani was an envoy to Iraq, supposedly an US ally.
Killing an envoy is an absolute nadir of ethical behaviour.
The US has lost it. The Empire will not recover from this.
