Very well said. Just try getting a tenureship anywhere in the West as a college professor in Russian Studies nowadays if you are not some kind of russophobic jerk. Or try working in the mass media…presstitution is the name of the game, but it’s all the same in the medical and science fields too. I did not know that you were searching me, I only wondered why nobody appeared to be interested in these autotranslated asylum-seekers-critical articles from Germany and other EU countries. But it now became clear that you were monitoring threads that I wasn’t monitoring and vice versa. Because admittedly The Saker, Scott, SouthFront and a bunch of other excellent contributors have published so many articles at once that it was difficult to decide where to comment or at least to keep in touch with comments.
Beyond that I have tried to get some problems in “Metaspace” solved, after having been almost paralyzed last week reading the latest newest news concerning what will happen this month (or hopefully not). That’s why I this week didn’t have time to read all comments in every thread and so it seems we missed each other.
Ok, I’m glad to hear all this from you and will simply continue with such small links collections (mostly autotranslated from the Austrian and German MSM plus alternative media). They don’t constitute real Scott-level SitReps, but I can quickly simply post them whenever I see something interesting in the German media landscape. Until now I hesitated because I wasn’t sure if the autotranslation quality is good enough for Saker’s blog. Will they be sent back at vast expense when it would be more effective to rebuild Syria so they would wish to return? Hailing from Slovakia, I can assure you that it was Robert Fico, who several months ago declared: “Never shall we go against the unity of the EU” (“Nikdy nepôjdeme proti jednote EÚ”—you can look it up). It was then about the anti-Russia sanctions. PM Fico had been condemning the sanctions for 2 weeks, describing them as stupid, harmful, etc., yet the government signed them among the first.
It simply stuck on my mind, as it also caused a great uproar in the population, with many people realizing that he was a spineless opportunist, indeed. [Alluding to a famous caricature with a medical doctor looking at an X-ray photograph and wondering about how the patient (depicted as Robert Fico) could have pains in the backbone, concluding that it was “phanom pain”… (suggesting that he does not have backbone).]
So, this does come as a surprise, as PM Fico was known to say one thing and do another…
On the other hand, it was the Robert Fico’s first government which pushed the Lisbon treaty which enabled this) through the parliament.
His coalition did not have a constitutional majority in the parliament, the opposition was blackmailing him, but he managed to bribe the Hungarians with some concessions regarding the school textbooks for minorities—the point of contention was about geographical names in textbooks, I will not go into greater detail here, but if I remember it correctly, the opposition Party of the Hungarian Coalition rejected it, while the coalition Slovak National Party’s minister of education wanted it in the new history and geography textbooks, which were part of the education reform, and this position was also in line with the language law and the law on geographical names … thus, this part of the reform was postponed.
