Ukraine: War, For Now, Over And NATO Still In Decline
There is only little news of new developments out of east-Ukraine. The insurgents kicked the Ukrainian troops out of the airport in Lughansk and the Ukrainian troops at the Donetsk airport are said to be confined in a basement and will have to negotiate their surrender.
According to Spiegel NATO generals assess (in German) that Ukraine has lost the war. It is out of material in decent shape and out of enough soldiers with the moral to successfully fight for the oligarchs.
[.] Apparently all those T-90 tanks only fly in by night and their cloaking devices prevent any picture of them appearing anywhere.[.]
[.]The “western” financed Kyiv Post is lamenting that the Ukrainian president Porochenko did not keep the promises he made before he got elected. That snub may well be a sign that his time is already over.[.]

Major highway to Mariupol taken
Itar-Tass reports: Militia fighters of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic on Tuesday seized control of a major highway connecting the cities of Donetsk and Mariupol, republic’s headquarters reported.
“Control of that road is very important, as situated along it are the towns of Dokuchayevsk and Novotroitskoye from where Ukrainian law enforcers were shelling Donetsk,” the headquarters said.

God speed NAF, all the way to Odessa
“It is grammatically incorrect…”
No it’s not. I took my first Russian history course in 1972. The professor was from the Soviet Union, and he called the region “the Ukraine.” My English-language textbooks called it “the Ukraine.” It has been called “the Ukraine” a heck of a lot longer than there has been a country called Ukraine.
Personally, I (usually) say Ukraine when I’m referring to the modern country and the Ukraine when I’m referring to the region. For example, the Crimea has never been in the Ukraine. But Crimea was a part of Ukraine until it seceded earlier this year.

A comment note on the UK Telegraph site:
“Bloody murderous guilt of both Nato-EU and Russia here, that is the truth few are facing. Of 15,000 or so perhaps dead in Ukraine’s civil war this year, there are over 5000 civilians dead there, bombed, shelled & butchered to death by Kiev, starting with burning dozens alive & even strangling a pregnant woman to death in Odessa on 2 May. And among soldiers / militia dead are hundreds of Nato country ‘contractors’ dead, from US-CIA companies, and Poland and other EU nations.
“Putin’s crime is different than what media and Nato allege – Putin’s crime is that he has gone along with bloodshed and carnage set up by the US-Nato-EU putsch in Kiev, and its new regime including neo-Nazis, which tried to outlaw speaking Russian (half of Ukraine!), menacing to murder its Russian citizens, giving them no option. Putin encouraged referenda, promised to protect the Russian-speakers, but then let thousands die at hands of US-Nato backed Kiev killers, Putin giving back-door support but not what he promised. As the ‘fix was in’ from Nato, with sanctions etc. to go against Putin anyway, why didn’t he just partition Ukraine with Russian troops in May, and prevent Ukraine’s civil war before it started?
“Nato’s Rasmussen with his whiny dishonest-sounding voice, was lead Danish liar pumping the Iraq ‘weapons of mass destruction’ hoax 10 years ago. While Vladimir Putin has been full of praise for his good friend Henry Kissinger (!) … as if Putin is US-Nato’s secret ‘fake opposition’ partner making and expanding war & chaos and bloody death … sadly, Ukraine looks more and more like part of the long-predicted pre-stage horror ‘edge of WW3’ to set up some ugly ‘New World Order’ resolution … May God help the people of Ukraine, and indeed all of us, as blood tragically flows, while so few see both the lies of EU-Nato, and Putin’s sad betrayals.”
There is a verrrrry interesting interview of Alexey Mozgovoy over at:
http://slavyangrad.org/2014/09/02/an-interview-with-alexey-mozgovoy-commander-of-the-lugansk-ghost-brigade-290814/#more-3393
He does not sound very willing to take orders from Vladimir Vladimirovich, but sounds quite serious about marching to Kiev. He might be posturing perhaps. Or not. He sure doesn’t like oligarchs or what he calls “the West” though. ;~)
re: Gay parades
Gays are a normal age-old part (~4-5%) of humanity and they were always tolerated. But today gays are used as a weapon against the family and against our basic values, the official propaganda is: “Gays are good, the family is slavery and is bad”. In other words, gays are better than the family. Pure destructive manipulation. Kudos to Russia for stopping the western degeneracy.
Does this mean anything? Even Human Rights Watch (!) has condemned the “indiscriminate and unlawful” shelling of Novorossiya (well of course they didn’t call it that, but still…)
http://rt.com/news/184400-hrw-ukraine-indiscriminate-shelling/
Who else here believes that Russia has thoroughly analyzed the situation, developed a number of alternate game plans and keeps updating everything based on validated incoming data — while the AZ Empire hasn’t even figured out who’s on the field, has a bunch of quarterbacks trying to get put in the game, each with their own plays and offensive line, and will more than likely fumble.
Let’s just hope they don’t blow up the stadium.
offhand .. the Urals, the Philippines, ..
Actually, “the Ukraine” is perfectly grammatically correct. That way it refers to a geographical expanse, not a political entity (which did not exist prior to the 20th century anyway).
In the last day, the Kiev junta has done something unprecedented and has withdrawn its forces from the axis between the cities of Donetsk and Mariupol and partially from the west of Donetsk.
https://vk.com/strelkov_info?w=wall-57424472_15697
There are several possibilities:
1. The junta tries to save the remnants of its forces from further encirclement and destruction
2. The junta no longer had sufficient combat-ready forces in the area (variant of 1)
3. The junta decided to build a new defense line west of Donetsk (also compatible with 1. and 2.)
4. The Kiev junta has struck a deal with Novorossiya of letting the Donetsk and Lugansk Republics be (at least for now).
5. The Ukrainian Army and the Nazi battalions are now too dangerous to keep in the field and in the combat zone–too dangerous for the Kiev regime itself. In this, the Ukrainian Army, especially younger officers and conscripted soldiers, and the fascist, oligarchs-controlled battalions might have both different reasons to disobey or revolt. Of course, to follow blindly “authorities” like Poroshenko, Yatsenyuk, Turchinov, or Tymoshenko, one has to be both intellectually and morally handicapped and challenged.
It is grammatically incorrect to use the word “the” in front of Ukraine, just like it is incorrect to say “the Russia, the France, the Spain.” This is one grammar error that is easy to correct.
Not if you’re Slavic.
Kraj/Kray means ‘end’ in Slavic languages. Ukraine means the end of the [Russian] land (the borderland). So, I guess ‘The Ukraine’ basically means ‘The End’
(God, I hope not!)
Gleb’s blog again has a wonderful interview with “Brain”, the commander of the Ghost brigade in Lugansk.
Very good political backgrounder on how things unfolded and some early machinations that were costly.
His total rejection of all oligarchs and all members of the Party of Regions indicates how things may develop later as Novorossiya takes shape.
By the way, they are going to march to Kiev.
Good info in this interview, excellent translation as usual on Gleb’s blog.

It is more an error of usage than of grammar. Before 1991 the country was known as “the Ukraine” as a shortened form of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. That is why maybe more older people still refer to it in this way.
In 1991 Ukrainian authorities rid themselves of the definite article in the English rendering, so you are correct, but only just.

Obama Buggers Europe: Sanctions Deepen the Recession

This analysis is only the tip of the EU recession iceberg as several distribution and service jobs will be lost for each farmer that goes bankrupt. The lost farms will be hard to replace as farming is hard work and most chic Europeans want cozy office jobs.
FLASH BREAKING NEWS
NATO would accept Ukraine in the Alliance this coming friday.
The upcoming NATO summit on 4 September is expected to further institutionalize the bloc’s relationship with Ukraine, and it cannot be precluded that some surprises may also be in store. One such example could be Poroshenko pulling a temporary ploy and disowning Crimea in order to get around NATO’s formal territorial dispute prohibition. Regardless of how it turns out, the fact is that the Kiev coup-plotters have finally played their NATO hand and have shown the world that they are dead-set on joining the military bloc. And immediatly activate ch 5.

Unfortunatly, STUPID is hard to fix.
Obama and the beheadings . . .
He doesn’t much care about Americans, so they are not going to affect him.
But if some Freedom-seeking people of uncommon valor stand up to Nazis and satanists then he’ll order the might of NATO and the US Intel contractors against those people. Spare no expense, destroy the Donbass.
That’s a challenge Obama is into. Mostly because he hates Putin. Putin stopped Obama’s Syrian war plans.
Many Americans think Obama is not doing his job.
He’s doing it. He’s the most powerful tool in the world. He’s doing what the tool was designed to do.
Understand the process of power that is expressed through the device of the Presidency.
Obama, Bush 2, Clinton, Bush 1, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy.
That chain of useful tools have dealt death and destruction since 1961. They sometimes get to call their “policies” a Doctrine.
Obama doesn’t even bother with that. No Obama Doctrine. No strategy. Just acquiescence to the evil exploits of the Elites.
If you come out the other side of the presidency alive, you get a Library, a fortune in publishing deals, lifetime bodyguard protection, and the whitewashing of history. It’s like political sainthood the Popes just got.
What a deal!
Let the heads roll. Bombs away!
Bombing ISIS is now just a means to get to bomb Syria sooner or later. Only Putin can stop that again.
Notice the trouble in Hong Kong? Democracy, they call it. For all the years under British rule there were no elections, no democracy. Once the Mainland took over their territory, democracy is the only thing that matters to the West.
It’s all in the tool kit.
Obama, ISIS, NATO, democracy, nazis, chaos—just tools in the tool kit.

Bob kay said – The new world of finance will probably have sovereign fiat currencies (agreed), but gold will be the world reserve asset…
I say, not gold but productive work.
Eighty years ago, Germany had no gold, no nothing but Hitler said, “I am no economist but I would have thought a day’s work has value.” And this was his mortal sin, accumulating a national currency backed by real value. This is why he was demonised by the US/UK Evil Empire.
From the side all of this suggests that besides the release of Russian paratroopers the two sides negotiated the elimination of the punitive battalions that were sponsored by Kolomoisky in return for the exit of the army units of the junta from the encirclement. —Col. cassad

Are the punitive irregulars being sold to slaughter by Kiev? Not sure I understand what the Col. Is referring to here
To classify his crimes Geletey officially announced that he is introducing anti-retreat units that are “somewhat similar to the SMERSH”.. That is, during the retreat the soldiers will be executed by new special detachments (fighting with their own), and SMERSH will seek out those who “spread rumors” (i.e., tells the truth about the crimes of the minister and his associates). Right now the outraged Ukrainians demand from Poroshenko to remove Geletey. Saying that if the president won’t do this, then the soldiers will do it by themselves. And then they will get to Poroshenko himself.

How can Ukrainian parents abide by this travesty. Their kids are literally rotting in the field like garbage
12000 dead in 4 months. Casualty rate of 10 to 1 is unheard of by an official army against rebels. Usually that ratio is reversed
How can Obama abide by such incompetence. It is embarassing for him
(Good for NAF thankfully)
Does anybody have any info on the truckload of “Javelin” anti-tank missles that were captured recently (read about it in a one of the NAF reports) These are US-made weapons that supposedly came on the recent Canadian “humanitarian” flight. I would think it would get more converage if true.

@It is grammatically incorrect to use the word “the” in front of Ukraine, just like it is incorrect to say “the Russia, the France, the Spain.”
It may seem grammatically incorrect, but it is historically correct. Russia, France, Spain have been real states. Ukraine means “the country at the margins” of… So it is even grammatically correct to say “the” Ukraine (of Russia, Poland, Austria…)
@”Russia strives for European acceptance … .”
This is rather the egomaniac delusion of Europe. It is Europe which strives to “open Russia to European ‘values’ (and exploitation).
This is already a month old news about old T-72 tanks being sold to Ukraine:
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=959_1408012301
The reason for buying these tanks at scrap metal price (8.500) could be that Ukraine no longer uses such tanks, but Russia still does. It would be easy to paint Russian emblems on the junk and scream about invasion.
Anyway, they were crossing Ukraine border a month ago. I guess ukies didn’t have time to work on this false flag, yet…
I’m fed up with people pedantically telling others how to post here; Ukraine, the Ukraine, what you call it is the least of its problems. Rump Banderastan may be a better choice.

“US boots on the ground to Ukraine for annual exercises. Where will they fit in the ongoing battles?…”
Good question. If those troops are introduced in the Ukraine, I doubt they will stick to playing “war games” in the west, but will actively be involved in trying to save the ZPC/NWO nazi junta. This may be one of the reasons the western quislings and the Jewish run western msm has been so steadfastly anal about lying about a “Russian invasion”. There is a NATO invasion planned and they want an invented “Russian invasion” to use as their pretext since their own public opinion is against a NATO invasion of the Ukraine and they cant just waltz in like in days of yore now.

Strelkov voiced the same opinion, that Maidantards were being encouraged to sign up for the punitie batallions to become fertilizer in Donbass. Its certainly one way to clear the Maidan, which was used to install Killer Oligarchs in place of Hardscrabble Theives..
The other thing Colonel Cassad is referring to is the independent powerbase of Kolomoisky (and thus also Timoshenko) in Dnipropetrovsk. Kolomoisky has taken a great deal of power to himself, projecting out from Dnipropetrovsk into Mariupol, Odessa, and Zaporozhzia and funding independent punitive battalions. He in fact has so much power he is now himself a threat to the Kiev State headed by Poroshneko.
It would seem that there is a distinct schism between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Presidential Administration and SBU on the one hand and the Ministry of the Interior and its National Guard troops and punitive volunteer battalions – the power of Avakov, Turchinov and behind them Kolomoisky.

“I say, not gold but productive work.”
The first line on the quarterly balance sheet of the ECB shows gold as the reserve asset. The Euro is ready for the end of the USD. China, Russia, India, etc. are buying gold as their reserve asset. They know all dollar denominated promises to pay will burn in the reset.
I agree with your emphasis on productive work. During our working lives we produce surplus which must be stored for old age when we are not productive. These savings are forced into USD promises to pay. The USD unit of account is deliberately inflated to steal the savings of productive people and nations.
The world will not tolerate a hegemon who exacts tribute from the entire population of the earth via the USD reserve system and threatens them with violence if they do not submit. The new financial system soon to be born will require an asset for savings which is not someone’s promise to pay. Gold is probably the answer for savings, while fiat will continue to be the unit of transaction.
The new world financial structure will still have rich families and individual’s, but they will not be able steal the savings of billions of people with the tools of predatory finance and taxation by manipulating the unit of account. In my opinion the coming world will reward work and creativity, as it will be more difficult for governments and banks to fleece productive people of their earned place in the world. This is too big a topic to explore here, but monetary affairs provide an interesting view of the world.
I am sure Russia will be blamed for the financial reset…this is a valuable chip in the negotiations with Europe. I wonder if the price to save USA and City of London oligarch’s from the noose is to keep their hands off the Eurasian Project to develop Europe and Asia instead of having the fruits of their labors stolen by usury and fraud of the USD One World Currency.
The end of USD, changing battlefield dynamics, internet, and a few principled men in high places have a opportunity to end neo-liberal domination of politics, academia, media, and finance. The predators who are at the top today are desperate to preserve their privilege, but they will be eliminated if they do not acknowledge responsibility comes with privilege, as we are witnessing in Russia and Novorossiya.
I wonder what Rinat Akmentov thinks about Novorossiya? Do you think he will have a place in the new order? There is a very interesting documentary called The Rise of Putin and the Fall of the Russian-Jewish Oligarchs which offers insight into the relationship of Putin to the oligarch’s and may indicate the source of hysterical hatred we see in the Western media. The Anglo-Zionists do not like Vladimir Putin

Last point on Ukraine vs “the Ukraine” (I hope)…
“The Ukraine” is analogous to the phrase “the Netherlands”. The former has the same relationship to “Ukraine” as the latter has to “Netherlands”. No Dutchman takes umbrage at either, though they may if one uses “Holland” (properly, the name of a region in Netherlands)
BTW, though “the Netherlands” (Lowlands) is etymologically connected to “the nether world” (Hades, Land of the Dead, etc) they are not connected in use. OTOH, “the Ukraine” could soon become synonymous with it.

In his instant classic, Origins of Major Wars, Copeland developed a theory he called “dynamic differentials theory” to explain the causes of great power conflicts. To slightly oversimplify, dynamic differentials theory argues that declining states initiate wars when they are still clearly militarily superior but they believe they are in deep and irreversible decline relative to the rising state.
In such a situation, the leaders of the declining state come to see war as the only way to prevent the rising state from overtaking it as the most powerful nation in the system, thereby becoming a major security threat. Dynamic differentials theory posits that these leaders are most likely to initiate war when they believe they have maximized their relative power– that is, when they believe their relative military power is peaking and delaying war will only allow the rising nation to grow relatively stronger.

“They recovered a smartphone from a dead Ukie. It had a video showing someone being tortured – “Basically ears cut off, his throat like a pig cut. Well, cheeks cut, eyes put out.” They left the camera but kept the memory stick.
To a certain extent, this seems unbelievable. However, there is historical precedent for the Ukrainian Nazis doing this sort of thing after WWII.”
Well this is what chetniks did in WW2 and Serbs in Borovo Selo massacre in 1991. They cut out the eyes of policemen an slice their throats:

@ bob kay comment way up…
Thank you for those two links. I read the Kissinger essay last week but didn’t know about the Mearsheimer article. I read it this afternoon. Very interesting. If you haven’t seen it already, you might also be interested in an article on CounterPunch with a transcript of an interview with Putin advisor Sergei Glaziev:
http://www.counterpunch.org/2014/08/22/understanding-ukraine-in-15-minutes/
Ironically, I found the Kissinger article while searching for information on the “New World Order” conspiracy theory and George Soros. But actually, that wasn’t the main reason for my search. I was looking for information about his involvement in Ukraine, specifically in forming public opinion, otherwise known as “propaganda.” Although Soros, USAID, and NED have been working closely together for years to build pro-West opinion through various NGO grants for “democracy” and “freedom of the press,” the latest Soros-funded project appears to be the source of a lot of the made-up shit that’s been reported in the mainstream media. It’s called the Ukraine Media Crisis Center, which purports to be an “objective” source of information for journalists covering Ukraine. I haven’t seen it mentioned on this blog, so I thought I’d take advantage of the open thread to bring it up (apologies for entering the thread late. I’ve been trying to write this between other work all day).
The Media Crisis Center operates out of a hotel in Kyiv and arranges briefings for reporters, including the daily military briefings by Lysenko. They’ve even made him his own NSDC backdrop (used to be their own logo). As to their “objectivity,” one of the first slides you see on the homepage is a blaring headline: “Malaysian Airlines Crash: Pro-Russian Terrorists Caught Red-Handed.” You’ll also find their FAQ page to be commendably balanced. As far as I can tell, there’s nothing on the site indicating that they get funding from Soros, although they have said so when asked by reporters. According to the articles I’ve read, that’s the only funding they get … BUT, given that the International Renaissance Foundation works so closely with USAID and NED, and that some of the PR agencies running the center are high-profile international firms, one has to wonder where else they’re getting their funding. If someone wants to do some digging …
For an idea of how much influence they’ve had, here are a couple of samples:
http://www.prweek.com/article/1285096/inside-fledgling-ukraine-crisis-media-center
http://www.sacbee.com/2014/06/05/6461554/ukraines-information-war-looks.html
Or just check out their press releases. Chances are, they’ll sound very familiar, especially this one:
http://uacrisis.org/victoria-nuland/
Another “objective” source of information being offered to the media is the Institute of World Policy, which is funded through USAID’s “UNITER” program. Its main objective appears to be to promote press favorable to Ukraine’s joining the EU. I don’t know if they get any funding from the International Renaissance Foundation, but IRF speakers have been featured at their media events … one of which, incidentally, was promoting Poroshenko for president.
http://iwp.org.ua/eng/about/mission/
If you really want to have some fun, here’s a list of UNITER funded projects, which I presume are part of Nuland’s $5 billion:
http://uniter.org.ua/en/grantees.html
Anyway, it appears that a lot of the mainstream media BS is emanating from the third floor of the Hotel Ukrayina. Just thought I’d pass it along.

re: Gay parades
Gays are a normal age-old part (~4-5%) of humanity and they were always tolerated. But today gays are used as a weapon against the family and against our basic values, the official propaganda is: “Gays are good, the family is slavery and is bad”. In other words, gays are better than the family. Pure destructive manipulation. Kudos to Russia for stopping the western degeneracy.”
Total nonsense. Being transgendered myself and part of the GLBTI spectrum I go on parades regularly to fight for the basic right to treated normally.Same as everyone else.
Every GLBTI person has straight family and friends who they love and care about. None are ‘anti-family’…anything but given how hard we all try to get gay marriage accepted.
We just want to have families like everyone else and to have the same legal rights. Just to be treated as ordinary people with ordinary lives.
I do object it being used for propaganda, like against Russia because it is irrelevant to the geo-political issues.
Plus it makes it far harder for GLBTI people as they get tarred as ‘western stooges’. Which is rediculous. Russian GLBTI people are just as patriotic as e everyone else.
Just like Australian (my home) GLBTI people are to our country.
This is a too sensitive a topic (because people do get killed) for silly propaganda.
Sadly there is always some cowardly yahoo around who thinks it is cool to bash someone up because they are GLBTI or a female, unless they are faced with decent opposition of course…cowards all of them.
So to give them more excuses to behave like that because of total lies or silly propaganda is criminal.

Writer,
Using your own words to point out your circular thinking, miscomprehension of even commonly-used words and phrases and ongoing conflation of fact, feeling and opinion is hardly a personal attack. Nor is it, actually, to point out that you reveal a lot more of yourself in some of your comments on that post than you probably intended.
It has been remarked the Cameron has no contingency plans for the increasingly like chance of a majority for independence in Scotland in the referendum later in the month. I now know Cameron’s contingency plan. It is the same as that used to try and put of Irish home rule in 1914. The plan is to start another world war in early september so that constitutional change in the UK can be cancelled. They plan to admit Ukraine into NATO during the Cardiff meeting on the 5th. Since Ukraine claims falsely that it has been invaded, we will then under article 5 be obliged to declare war on Russia. US intelligence people just sent this letter to Merkel to warn her to veto the proposal since the Ukrainian claims are as dodgy as those about Sadams weapons of mass destruction.
Telegrah today reports “Understanding the stakes, though, has never been the PM’s problem. La Repubblica, an Italian daily, has obtained details of the closed-door talks in Brussels on Saturday, when the PM warned his European counterparts that in appeasing Vladimir Putin, they run the risk of repeating the mistakes of the 1930s, and the remarks are picked up by the Sun, the Guardian and the Mail. But for all the PM recognises that Something Must Be Done, he doesn’t appear to have got very far at actually doing anything.
The PM heads to Newport tomorrow having, as Patrick Wintour writes in the Guardian today, lost any illusions about Vladimir Putin. The priority for the summit is to make it clear that Nato is serious about its obligations on the world stage, in Ukraine and in the Middle East (where regional unrest is a very real threat to alliance member Turkey). Downing Street is frustrated at what they see as a lack of leadership from the White House, but Britain still faces major challenges of its own in trying to provide that leadership itself.”
But it does not occur to press comentators with limited knowledge of history ( does not go back further than 1938 ) that in giving a blank cheque to the Poroshenko govt he will be doing exactly what the Kaiser did in giving a blank cheque to to the Austro Hungarian govt to attack Serbia. Historians judge that the Kaiser’s ‘blank cheque’ only made sense as a way of fomenting a war with Russia.

Similar to Roshan chocolate boxes, contents of low cocoa butter.
Adresses in Kiev, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil etc variable with different signage.
Funding usual suspects with variable titles – don’t ask for links since output/input ratio suggests would be inefficient use of time.
Dear Saker
Please answer me the following
I have tried to log in at RT and post some articles from “Saker” RT does not allow me, why?
I remember well the videos of the Ukrainian tanks crashing through the barricades on the streets of Mariupol, and the defenders gamely throwing them back up. But Reuters claims that it was Mariupol residents who decided in favor of Kiev. What actually happened there?
Reuters reports steel magnate bragging about steelworkers mobilizing to defend Mariupol. Is this in any way conceivable?
Col. Cassad wrote in “Situation in Donbass as of September 2nd”: “the alignment of the preferences of the population is about 60 to 40 to our advantage among the politically active residents.”
Why only 60-40?
Is Mariupol within range of Russian television signals, or have the Kiev propagandists had free rein there? Have Mariupol men been subject to the draft?
Is there a Ukraine naval presence in Mariupol’s port? What is the officers’ relationship to the Ukraine so-called government in Kiev? They were mostly captured during the session of Crimea, then “returned to Ukraine.” What did they take away from that experience? Who are the enlisted men, and what are their loyalties?
I am hungry for news and a deeper analysis of what’s going on inside Mariupol.
Psychic death in USA-EU. Putin calls for humanitarian corridor for surrendering Kiev troops who disarm. Washington sees that as “Putin takes off the gloves in Eastern Ukraine” (paywalled)

I was struck by Saker’s observation some time back that the Soviet press, however much controlled, was not reduced to such lies. Why? Because the Soviets were better educated and wouldn’t take the filthy swill we’re served each day.
Deep State mouthpieces such as: John J. Mearsheimer have come out with a bullhorn at CFR’s Foreign Affairs placing the blame for the Ukrainian fiasco squarely on the West. While dr. K on the other hand has floated the idea that perhaps the unipolar world is not working out in practice but Exceptionalism must be kept (salvaged) at all cost. Dianne Feinstein senses danger ahead and thus has advised Obama to go and talk to Putin ASAP. Now VIPS (Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity) have gone on record by sending a public letter to Merkel questioning the the foreign policy of the golfer in chief and the zombified Propaganda Machine called the MSM. Deep State mouthpieces can be accused of everything and anything but of being putinistas and appeasers so something is definitely rotten in Denmark.
If you take any of these in isolation, it can be dismissed as personal views. What these series of soundbits tells me is that there is a paradigm shift happening at Deep State. The PTB are getting worried for the apparent unintended consequences of the rudderless and clueless incumbent’s strategy. Mr. Z. Brzezinski’ protege’s tenure is not doing well in the eyes of Deep State. Thus, a major correction of tactics and even possibly change in strategy is urgently required. Deep State mouthpieces do not usually give public advice or embarrassing rebuke to sitting presidents unless privately given suggestions are falling on deaf ears.
@Anonymous: Dear Saker, Please answer me the following, I have tried to log in at RT and post some articles from “Saker” RT does not allow me, why?
Yes, RT seems to avoid me like the plague. I don’t know why, but some big shots there are clearly deeply suspicious of me and they will never post or print anything I wrote. Could be that I am still blacklisted in some stupid state security office as an “enemy” due to my anti-Soviet past, maybe they don’t like my “thin anonymity”, maybe they suffer from a “not invented here” complex. Most likely, they see me as an unpredictable extremist whose views they don’t really understand. The funny thing is that they asked me for an interview on-air no less than FIVE TIMES TOTAL, but the folks at the RT English website have categorically decided never to post something be me. Which is fine, I don’t care, if they want to ignore me, let them. I just get the giggles every time I hear that I am some “Russian agent paid by Moscow”, if only those who write that new how “Moscow” clearly totally does not give a damn about me and my blog :-)
Cheers,
The Saker
Anonymous 15:48,
I think you’re really onto something there. Of course, various Old Hands tried to prevent Dubya’s Iraq War fiasco too, so who knows whether they’ll be listened to this time, with at least a slightly different Nutcake Jumble vying for God only knows what else.
sasy,
Even poorly-educated Russians, I’m betting, still have the ability to think for themselves.
Most. Unlike. Us.

Thank you Saker.
May God bless Russia and you.
Croat and Russophile
Nora, you are correct. Old Hands tried to prevent Dubya’s Iraq War fiasco too. But the post 911 agenda for the Pentagon, as revealed by Gen Wesley Clark (RET), in interview with Democracy Now March 2, 2007) was to “take out” governments in 7 countries in 5 years. These were Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Lybia, Somalia, Sudan and Iran. The plan has experienced delays. 10 years ago the US military was not war weary. But the plan is still in effect 13 years later with the use of military proxies. But there is risk of blow back in training and using proxies. Moreover, 10 years ago the US debt was half of what it is today. The Europeans were more than willing (coalition of the willing) to embark in such adventures. Russia was unable or unwilling to defy the NWO as it is now and China was not the top or second economy in the world. Things have changed and you can see dr. K acknowledging this but insisting on salvaging exceptionalism.
Anonymous 17:31,
Yup. I think we really do need to start praying, more often, fervently and deeply, frankly, than ever before.
And I. Am. Dreading. what may be in store for us on 9/11 but have a pretty good idea who’ll get the blame.

“Moreover, 10 years ago the US debt was half of what it is today. “
Ten years ago, the US federal budget was in big trouble. One of the men responsible, I forgot his name, resigned. Small Bush [Malinki Bush?] had him silenced.
After March 2000, the US budget was only a matter of clever book keeping. Strange bookkeeping. You could hear senators complain about it.
