I would like to hear what the Saker thinks of Russia voting for sanctions on North Korea.
I don’t know what the Saker thinks about it, but that was just plain dumb, in my opinion.
Whether or not they wanted to try and get the US to stand down or to put pressure on North Korea (which I very much doubt), this was stupid and I am very disappointed in China and especially Russia on this.
The US will not attack North Korea, they can’t. Their military capacity is already spent fighting 7 wars simultaneously, even if they are merely pretending to fight ISIS and Al Qaeda. Furthermore, if hot conflict broke out, the first thing that happens is Seoul getting utterly obliterated with North Korean artillery and over a million North Korean soldiers, who were training for 10 years of their life get marching orders. The Prussians of olden days used to dominate everybody. Why? Because their mandatory military duty was 2 years, not 9 months as most of the rest of Europe. Imagine what an Army with 10 years of military drill can do.
Even if Trump somehow became so stupid as to attack North Korea, China would immediately flood North Korea with soldiers, which means the US can’t strike it any more in fear of killing Chinese soldiers and declaring war on China. Meanwhile North Korea is gaining territory against a technologically superior force in the south, but one that is unmatched in skill, determination and number. South Korea also has a higher population than the North, meaning the population density is much higher thus the US can’t just drop bombs willy nilly and their ground troops numbering ~50000 are no match for North Korea. A lot of death, a lot of destruction, US loses “bigly” while North Korea, and thus China, takes over the South.
The China/India border dispute is also heating up, which means if a conflict broke out on the Korean peninsula, Modi, who has been recklessly and needlessly playing with fire on China’s borders could potentially be so crazy as to attack China while they are distracted over there and spark a potentially larger conflict, which would then drag Pakistan into the mix, Russia, Japan… a complete mess. Even the tiny brains in the US government can calculate this outcome to be too high to risk.
Long story short, there was 0 reason to vote for ridiculous sanctions. Especially from Russias side, who stated not 2 weeks earlier that sanctions will never change their stance, now they vote in favour of sanctioning another country, very hypocritical. This was thoroughly unnecessary and well, stupid.
Would Russia and China go to the UN and ask for international sanctions against the US if it attacks Venezuela?
The answer is a very short one : NO
Sanctions are a wasted activity. They have greatly helped Russia become self-sufficient in so many areas where in the past they were dependent on imports from the west. Sanctions only raise rancor in the targeted nation and can be a kick in the pants inspiration to further develop your own products.
One of my great fears is that as the West (US et al) continues to openly attack, invade and subvert others; they will finally unite and decide to put this mad-dog down. Think massive (nuclear) attack in the late night of a national holiday for example. There is absolute no justification for our activities around the globe. Our foreign policies are based on unmitigated evil greed!
We should be working hand-in-hand with our Russian brothers and sisters to help make this world a better place for us all to live. I’ve visited Russia and the Crimea and very much enjoyed the great people I met there. They are not our enemy; it is Wall Street, the banks and unregulated capitalism that causes so much of the woes of the world.
Do you really mean Central European Summer Time (CEST)?
What is the start in US time (at least one – eastern central, or pacific).
Thanks
I am not familiar with a CEST time zone but if I click on the Youtube window here it first shows the start time as Saturday 8:00 PM (20:00) GMT +2.
After several seconds it adjusts to my time zone – 2 PM (14:00) EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) such as New York City, Montreal, Boston, Miami etc.)
8:00 PM (20:00) GMT+2 = 2:00 PM (14:00) EDT
