Maria Zakharova, I mean, or did I mean Maria Z Kalashnikov?
❗️ Maria #Zakharova: @usairforce actions have posed risks to civil aviation.
Just because an air incident over the Black Sea’s Int waters has been prevented, this does not mean the US and NATO can further put people’s lives at #risk with impunity.

It is important to remember who dropped atomic bombs on the civilians of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, who killed people with napalm in Vietnam, who bombed Belgrade's denizens, etc.

Dear beautiful Maria Zakharovo….
I am very pro-Russian….but WW2 was not going to end on the Japanese Military’s terms…..I think Japan still wants those islands back……the rest of your comments spot on…
War for Blair…
You say > but WW2 was not going to end on the Japanese Military’s terms…
Keep reading outside the prescribed western narrative texts, and you will learn Japan had been seeking peace for months…. All requests ignored by USAUSAUSA!!
The atomic bomb was dropped to play with the new toy, and “send a message” to the Russians.
The USAUSAUSA had plans to bomb 60 odd Russian cities … knowing the window would close should Russia also get the A bomb.
Your pushing historical revisionist sewage….The only moral obligation of Roosevelt was to the Native Born White Mothers whose sons were dying in the Pacific…and that moral obligation was to end the war as quickly as possible by any means necessary….not out of concern for Japanese Mothers….or The Japanese War Council….and the Japanese Officers and their coup…
The reason of Japan surrender wasn’t the atomic bombings or civilians (Japan already had experienced even deadliest fire bombings), but the crushing of their army by Soviet army in Mandchuria and Korea
I saw statistics about military wat loses, Japan had more loses against USSR in a few months than in several years against US and UK.
That fact is completely oculted in the West, but it still haunts the Japanese society subconscious to the day. That can be seen in littérature, when a protagonist is set to have a very difficult background in war time, it is set in Mandchuria.
What ‘few months’ are you talking about? The whole operation was over in a matter of days. The Japanese had only around 40,000 dead. The rest of about 700,000 surrendered and was captured. The Japanese military casualties in WW2 were over 2,000,000.
Top US military leadership were horrified by the decision to use nuclear weapons against civilians in a defeated nation, Eisenhower included. The bombs were to send a message to the Soviet Union. Politicians and the NYT loved it but they always do love wanton murder for fun and profit.
The White American Mothers kneeling in pews in Christian Churches across America wearing prayer veils holding rosary beads praying that their White Sons not come home to them in a closed coffin were not the least bit horrified by the decision to drop two nukes on Japan..
Roosevelt’s only moral obligation was to these White Mothers…not to the Japanese Civilian Population….and to Japanese Mothers….
Do we need to remind that it was not Roosevelt who decided to drop the Bomb(s), but Truman?
It is a open question whether Roosevelt would have actually used the Bomb. He seemed to want only to get ahead of the Germans and Russians in the acquisition of the Bomb. It is doubtful that he would have used it to force the Japanese surrender before the intervention of the Russians, and therefore to exclude them from the peace settlements. It is doubtful that what the ‘Native White’ mothers thought concerned him too much. This is the BS peddled by the ‘Native Whites’ to allay their pangs of conscience for a monstrous crime.
Roosevelt moral obligations?
After every immoral trick to bring America into the war firstly?
Roosevelt had no morals.
I agree…. in Europe; the Tyler Kent mess…and that was confirmed by The Potocki Papers. In the Pacific- the trade embargo of oil sales to Japan- forcing them to back down- which anyone knowing anything about Asian culture understands that a reflection on loss of honour, or “losing face;” is not to be countenanced…..provoking Japan until they had to do something…..discovering the plan to attack Pearl Harbour, than placing General Walter Short- a “continental minded” (meaning no naval focus- or understanding of requirements for different defence/ attack strategies of island possession/defence) Army General…and placing Rear Adm. Husband Kimmel- an Officer VAULTED OVER more qualified and Senior Officers for Command of Naval Forces at Pearl Harbour points to one obvious conclusion; Adm. Kimmel was vaulted over other Officers so he could be the Sacrificial Goat.
The in flight of b-17’s to Pearl Harbour from California- seeded confusion; the Army’s “new radar” expected a large formation of planes on Dec.8 (Hawaii time and date- Dec. 7 in the U.S. mainland) and ignored the in flight of the Japanese incoming attack because they thought they were the EXPECTED incoming B-17 flight……
If you think this is something; you should read Col. Philip J. Corso’s 1960’s activities he had to engage in due to the mess Roosevelt created.
(The Day After Roswell; 1997)
FDR was dead, Truman dropped the bombs.
@War for Blair Mountain.
Please spare me any overblown hyperbole outrage about historical “revisionism”.
As with just about any and every narrative, it is a fabrication that the atomic bombs were responsible for the Japanese surrender.
As my father was a Japanese Prisoner of War, captured with the Fall of Singapore on Feb 15 1942, and dispatched from Changi prison with F Force to Burma to work on the Burma/Thai railway, I have a strong personal motivation to know the truth about WW2 Pacific theatre.
Firstly, the myth that the British in Singapore did not expect the Japanese to attack overland down the Malay peninsula. This has been sold as a fact, by the war records, sealed for 75 years, have since been released. Proving Churchill and the War Office had reports from 1938 warning of the Japanese attack plans.
Now to the two atomic bombs.
Here’s a few sources for you to school yourself on the real history, rather than the US sanitised, self righteously noble version taught to school children.

Japan Tried To Surrender After Midway Defeat
By J Bruce Campbell
Citing: Journey to the Missouri by Toshikasu Kase, an official of the Foreign Office. Foreign Minister Togo had him deliver a message to Sir Robert Craigi, the British ambassador who was interned in Tokyo, which stated:
> George Marshall, Roosevelt’s army chief of staff would not consider anything but Unconditional Surrender, knowing the Japanese would not give up Hirohito to the hangman, which didn’t happen anyway.
But this was always threatened, deliberately driving the Japanese to desperate acts to protect their god-leader.
All well understood by the psychiatrists in FDR’s gang. Even after Okinawa, Marshall said the desperate attempts at surrender were “premature.”
Going through the list of terrible battles in the Pacific while the Japanese were frantically attempting to end the war is mind-numbing.
> Marshall still wouldn’t accept surrender until the second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. The anticipated effects of atom bombing were too interesting to forego.
>Shortly after WWII, military analyst Hanson Baldwin wrote: “The Japanese, in a military sense, were in a hopeless strategic situation by the time the Potsdam demand for unconditional surrender was made on July 26, 1945.”
The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender because of the effective sea blockade and the successful bombing with conventional weapons.
“My own feeling is that in being the first to use it, we had adopted an ethical standard common to the barbarians of the Dark Ages.”
And General Dwight Eisenhower agreed.
Real reasons for using the bomb:
>> 1 The US had made a huge investment in time, mind and money ($2,000,000,000 in 1940 dollars) to produce the bombs, and there was no inclination and no guts to stop the momentum.
2 The US military as did its citizens had a bloodthirsty appetite for revenge because of Pearl Harbor. Mercy wasn’t the mind-set of these professed Christians, and the missions were accomplished with glee.
3 The Nagasaki bomb was a plutonium bomb and Hiroshima’s was uranium. Scientific curiosity certainly was a major factor for the mass slaughter of the Nagasaki community. The decision to use both bombs had obviously been made well in advance. The three day interval was unconscionably inadequate Japan being in shambles in its communications and transportation capabilities and besides, no one, not even the Japanese high command, fully understood what had happened at Hiroshima.
4 The Russians had proclaimed their intent to enter the war with Japan 90 days after V- Day, which would have been Aug. 8, two days after Hiroshima. Indeed, Russia did declare war on August 8 and was marching across Manchuria when Nagasaki was incinerated.
The US didn’t want Japan surrendering to anybody else, especially a future enemy, so the first nuclear “messages” of the infantile Cold War were sent.
Don’t like Rense and Bruce Campbell as sauce.
Have this instead:

Did Nuclear Weapons Cause Japan to Surrender?
Extract: Hiroshima was not a decisive military event. The Soviet entry into the war was.
And they said this. Japan’s leaders identified the Soviet Union as the strategically decisive factor. In a meeting of the Supreme Council in June to discuss the war in general, policy, they said Soviet entry would determine the fate of the empire. Kawabe Toroshiro said, “The absolute maintenance of peace in our relations with the Soviet Union is one of the fundamental conditions for continuing the war.”
Japan’s leaders said Hiroshima forced them to surrender because it made a terrific explanation for losing the war. But the facts show that Hiroshima did not force Japan to surrender.
More sauce:

The notion that the atomic bombs caused the Japanese surrender on Aug. 15, 1945, has been, for many Americans and virtually all U.S. history textbooks, the default understanding of how and why the war ended.
But minutes of the meetings of the Japanese government reveal a more complex story.
The latest and best scholarship on the surrender, based on Japanese records, concludes that the Soviet Union’s unexpected entry into the war against Japan on Aug. 8 was probably an even greater shock to Tokyo than the atomic bombing of Hiroshima two days earlier.
Until then, the Japanese had been hoping that the Russians — who had previously signed a nonaggression pact with Japan — might be intermediaries in negotiating an end to the war.
As historian Tsuyoshi Hasegawa writes in his book “Racing the Enemy,” “Indeed, Soviet attack, not the Hiroshima bomb, convinced political leaders to end the war.” The two events together — plus the dropping of the second atomic bomb on Aug. 9 — were decisive in making the case for surrender.
And this:
https://warfarehistorynetwork.com/2020/10/27/why-the-u-s-dropped-the-atomic-bomb-on-japan-in-wwii/
Why the U.S. Dropped the Atomic Bomb on Japan in WWII.
Questions remain more than 75 years later whether dropping the atomic bomb played a significant role in ending World War II in the Pacific.
>…For three days, members of the Supreme War Council debated the response. Finally, on August 14, the Emperor intervened and announced his decision to accept the Potsdam conditions.
He scheduled a session that evening to record a surrender speech that would be broadcast to the Japanese people the following day.
At the same time, Japan’s acceptance of unconditional surrender was sent to Washington.
> Hirohito explained that the reason for Japan’s surrender was because of the enemy’s use of a new and cruel bomb that could take many innocent lives. Although the action of the Japanese War Council made it clear that the surrender was triggered by Russia’s declaration of war, it was not mentioned in Hirohito’s speech.
And:
https://brutalproof.net/2020/08/japan-was-on-the-verge-of-collapse-surrender-when-u-s-bombed-hiroshima-nagasaki/
Japan Was on the Verge of Collapse & Surrender When U.S. Bombed Hiroshima & Nagasaki
>> Japan had actually been trying hard, via “neutral” Soviet back channels, to negotiate a surrender with the United States, just not unconditionally as Truman demanded.
Little did the Japanese know that the Soviet Union had committed to join the war in East Asia, as part of a negotiations reached between FDR, Churchill/Attlee and Stalin during the Potsdam Conference of 1945.
Thank you so much, White Whale. I despair. If the US citizens don’t get to grips with their history, we are in a nexus where they might want to repeat it. Thanks!
Well done and said.
Right; thanks for that.
Whats’ missing in this narrative is the name Bernard Baruch, the man who claimed to be “the most powerful man in the USA”. He triggered the abomb as a response to Japan expelling his people and confiscating their wealth a few years ago.
The atomic bombings are still being debated by historians, so we need to keep an open mind on the subject. To denigrate any and every piece of ‘revisionist’ history — I detest the term — as ‘sewage’ is not too clever; simply because it keeps us from discovering something useful.
I grew up with the conventional view that the atomic bombs triggered Japan’s surrender until I read this book by Hasegawa Tsuyoshi. Hasegawa’s thesis is that there was an interplay between three factors near the end of the Pacific War: Japan’s concern about the position of the Emperor; US’s concerns about Soviet gains in the Pacific theatre ie USSR’s entry into the war before Japan’s surrender; USSR’s concerns that it would be shut out of the East at war’s end. Of course there were other sub-plots but they were mainly to do with domestic issues and mutual suspicions. The interaction shaped the events leading to Japan’s surrender ie there was no single triggering event. Needless to say, now my view has changed somewhat.
https://archive.org/details/racingenemy00tsuy
The Soviet plan was to attack on the 11 August. It was after Hiroshima that the invasion was brought forward by two days. The Soviets guessed that the Americans were seeking Japan’s surrender on all fronts (including certainly Manchuria and Korea) before they would intervene. They probably felt that the Americans were ready to renege on Roosevelt accords.
yes.
In parallel to that the japanese (and local population) want 20% of their Okinawa island back fm the pretexting hands of american military base there. The yanks say this is and was in exchange for ‘protection’. Yeah, the Sicilian mafia gansters would said the very same thing.
Further, the Cubans want the Guantanamo piece of land back. Instead they got dire sanctions. It simply does get into my head how there s a nation of 320 mi people, – and not ten percent of them was able to feel a sentiment of SHAME of such a prolonged robbery, pilferage, assault and theft on a tiny poor and defenseless one as not to simply return it back with a gesturing word of excuse.
In an ideal world Okinawa would be freed of the American military presence — and made an independent country. Because the Okinawans aren’t ethnically Japanese, the Japanese have been only too happy to abandon them to their fate as victims of American polluters, rapists, and other thugs.

Maria Zakharova is an admirable woman. Intelligent, well-briefed, possessed of a rapier-sharp wit, snarky and combative.
God knows RF needs more of her kind of person, and not just from the MFA.
Let’s consider the words the lady spoke. I understand that the lady herself is distracting, but what did she say – she does not babble…the text is important.
“Just because an air incident over the Black Sea’s Int waters has been prevented, this does not mean the US and NATO can further put people’s lives at #risk with impunity.”
Ok, what does the semantic analysis say?
I’ll propose some blunt implications: “Next time mutherxker this chit is going to cost you!” or perhaps “Next time you’ll get shot at”
https://youtu.be/eJ_Nhu0sK6c (“Ah nicked the census man…”)
Of course the kinetic department is not run by the MFA…so she speaks politely.
Withal, I take the lady’s words as a serious warning of a Policy that’s not very flexible.
Yes…Maria is a Slavic Goddess…..WE WORSHIP YOU MARIA!!!!!
Hillary Clinton on the other hand….is Satan’s filthy dingle-berry posing as a Human Female….
@ Blair – Removed. Mod. If I am mistaken and you are a serious truth seeker, you need to begin by examining yourself first. Or not drink before you post.
Do you know that the ‘Slavic Goddess’ is Jewish?
This is highly unlikely. A web search on various articles “Is Maria Zakharova Jewish” show nothing. A wikipedia page about her makes no mention of her religion, and it would be highly unusual for Jewish parents to name a female child Maria…
Rachel, Leah, Esther are Jewish girls’ names. Maria does not appear in the Old Testament, like those mentioned. It’s not a Jewish girl’s name.
It is rumored that an elder relative in her childhoood once brought her to a Moscow church during a vacation to be christianed. Anyhow, both her parents were Jewish when she was conceived and brought up in at the Soviet (now Russian) embassy in Bĕijing. I seem to remember her parents dining at a Muslim restaurant in Bĕijing during those early years, and have a suspicion this was because they could there get unleavened bread and Halal (almost Kosher) dishes to eat (and fantastic Xīnjiāng Uighur wine from Turfan!).
This is clearly nonsense and every other troll is following this anonymous troll.
No, somebody that has eaten at a Muslim restaurant as a child with parents (which I have frequently done as adult and child) does not make you secretly Jewish. I’ve also eaten at Italian, Greek, Chinese and a bunch of other restaurants. It did not make me anything else than what I am. I’ve also eaten all the Jewish foods that are commonly known. It did not make me Muslim, and it did not make me Jewish.
The comments here are meaningless and in my view are propagandistic, racist, and devoid of all sense. This is despite the fact that nobody apparently is able to do the rudiments of research on this matter or you would know what she actually said about the Jewish community in New York where she was working or somethinng like parents last names. She even mocked them, by using their accents.
And if by some stretch she had Jewish parents, what of it?
Enough of this. No more.
I demand that Maria Zakharova be granted supernatural powers from Dear Jesus to counter the Satan granted powers giving to the filthy dingle berrie from Hell Hilary Clinton….
Well does the dear woman arouse male passion.
God Bless Roza Shannina……..Slavic Angel may you rest in Eternal Peace……
Maria can dance too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-EgzOdJ5S8
Cross talk rt is covering and Ukraine today.
We’re looking at a very serious summit between two countries both with nuclear capability.
I saw early morning yesterday that Maria Zakharova’s office was busy debunking the most serious allegations and fake news from the western sources. The Saker agreed that I could put up a quick sitrep of the most important ones. There is also an issue here that few even know. Seldom do they work out of the Russian MFA on a Sunday at least in what we can see. This was the hint to me that the issues are incredibly serious, like war in our world. In addition, we are continually griping that the Russians are not doing enough or effective ‘propaganda’.
Then we find some idiotic adolescents commenting. If you think you are doing this world and this site a favor, let me disabuse you of that notion. Just grow up!
Allow me to say I find this ‘boys will be boys’ and ‘she is a jew’ and ‘cup size’ ‘she dies her hair’ and ‘Hilary Clinton’ type comment quite beneath contempt (besides that one of these is a troll) and you remind me of Donald Trump, which is a nightmare reminder. You are unable to see or comment reasonably on why these few tweets were posted and you are unable to comment on the content. As such I believe you probably should not have even the freedom to comment here. Evidently, you are unable to give a competent and smart and beautiful woman a compliment without sinking into adolescent language and descriptions and losing the overall plot completely.
Maria Zakharova has a PhD, is known to be one of the most quoted Russian diplomats and handles her department as the Director. She has been the head of the Permanent Mission of Russia to the United Nations in New York and speaks Mandarin fluently as well as English. She is a highly competent and educated diplomat and the Russians say as beautiful in the soul as physically.
And this is the women that you reduce to ‘cup size’ and more. Your disrespect of a very special person reflects on your disrespect for yourselves and this is besides the fact that you did not even see the content, that I, early on Sunday, posted to keep your sorry asses up to date.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thanks for a breath of truth to clear away the odor of degeneracy.
Suffice to say that, when Maria Zakharova has something to say, it’s advisable to pay attention.
A very important comment, which should be widely read – but which seems not to have been, alas. We need more Maria Zakharovas!
The she-goat is talking too much again. How would she know that quislings and traitors always end unceremoniously. It’s your term now scum bags.
This comment contributes exactly zero. Either try again with something that makes sense or please hold your peace.
Biden pushes Ukraine into war in Europe.
True to themselves, the Americans are trying to start a war … far from home! This time it’s not in the Middle East, but it’s on our soil, on your soil: In Europe. A campaign carefully orchestrated by Washington spreads in Europe that Russia, it is certain, will invade Ukraine! The media, in their position of principle “anti-Russian” rush, the German press even published today the plan of the Russian attacks against Ukraine!
Regarding the mass hysteria about Russian troop movements “on the borders of Ukraine”, this movement is not unusual and occurs every few months as a rotation of the army in all the districts. But for 7 years now, it has been used every 4-6 months by governments and the Western media to announce an ‘impending Russian invasion’. Nothing happens of course except that NATO takes the opportunity to supply large quantities of weapons to the Ukrainian army and install and reinforce numerous bases on the borders of Russia.
NATO aid to Ukraine began with “non-lethal” aid, then continued with military training, then the development of satellite systems, then lethal aid, then military training. training of openly pro-Nazi militias, then by giving combat drones and then in the near future long-range missiles and destroyers to threaten Russian cities. All under the pretext that “Russia will attack this time I swear”.
NATO understands very well Russia’s “red lines” and how to trigger them. They will continue to do these kinds of actions. All of this help has never been for the good of Ukraine, which is quite simply a good pawn that can be used to put pressure on Russia. Once Russia is fed up with years of harassment and a “response” is forthcoming, then Western media and governments will claim to have predicted this before. Obviously, the peoples of Europe will have blind sympathy for Ukraine due to the mass Russophobia in these countries and the media coverage.
Once the Russian “response” has finally been delivered, Ukraine will wait for all its “guarantors” to come to its aid… and will be surprised that this help does not arrive. We remember the events of 2008 in Georgia: The Americans pushed Georgia to attack Ossetia by promising them aid if Russia intervened, we know the rest: Russia intervened and fired the Georgians, while the Americans were absent subscribers. It will be the same this time with the Ukraine: The Russian forces will put a memorable beating to the Ukrainian army made up for the most part of irregular militias unable even to face the independentists of the popular militias of Donetsk and Lugansk. Once our forces besiege Kiev, Ukraine will sign a surrender treaty and Russia will be sanctioned and isolated at European level. And the Americans will rub their hands: Russia will be a little more isolated. The fate of Ukraine, they don’t care.
A few years later, they will try elsewhere and keep Russia occupied with its border security to divert their attention from the global conflict area to a local / regional area, hoping that Russia will end up being totally paralyzed economically, politically and military. This will not affect us much, we will no longer have macdo (!) Or French wines (we have already been without cheese for 5 years, and my faith we eat ours!) But the Europeans will no longer have our gas and oil. Who will suffer the most?
Those who imagine that Western countries will face Russia openly militarily in Ukraine live in a complete delusion and should remember how many other puppet governments were used as condoms and thrown away when they served their purpose. Ukraine has little to lose in resuming dialogue with Russia, but everything to lose if it sticks its mouth in the barrel.
And Ukraine seems to be on the wrong path since (and that, the European media do not say it!), It has been bombing for 2 weeks, every day and every night, the villages and towns of Donbass. Russia’s response was in an unexpected form: Today the Kremlin announced that all residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk Republics can receive Russian citizenship on simple request! Warning to Ukraine therefore, because Russia has a habit of defending its citizens wherever they are …
In the Kremlin, leaders are extremely concerned about the possibility of the outbreak of large-scale hostilities in Donbass and Crimea. This Crimea that Ukraine claims to “take back” even though the inhabitants overwhelmingly voted to join Russia, thus reestablishing a “historical reality”.
According to a source in the “inner circle” speaking on condition of anonymity (let’s call him Igor), “There has not been such a level of military threat in all of the modern history of the Russian Federation.”
The main threat is the uncontrollable nature of the actions, when the situation can explode at any time. NATO rejected Russia’s proposal to agree on areas of influence in order to somehow stabilize the situation. Blinkin, in a meeting with Lavrov last week, did not accept the possibility of diplomatic dialogue, giving Ukraine carte blanche to withdraw from the Minsk accords.
The situation is closer than ever to a military conflict, or, more simply, to a war. The United States has lifted all diplomatic and political restrictions. Everything is heading towards a scenario of complete international isolation of Russia, a large-scale technological and trade blockade and an embargo on the purchase of oil and gas. Are Europeans ready to pay 10 euros for a liter of gasoline and to heat themselves with wood? Biden doesn’t ask their opinion!
The Kremlin clearly understands that now passivity will only exacerbate the situation and that the responsibility for the conflict will always be attributed to Russia anyway, no one will be interested in reality.
Some then advocate preventive action, we remember that Vladimir Poutine had declared that “when a fight is inevitable, it is worth striking first”. And in the event of an attack, a strategic operation will be implemented to liberate the pro-Russian regions of south-eastern Ukraine, thus taking the main areas of the country’s industrial development and the main trade routes of the Black Sea, in order to create an alternative political entity in Kiev.
Igor represents the situation with a metaphor: Look, you are alone in a room, surrounded by a pack of thugs who want to rob you. They are ten against you and turn around you like jackals. What do you do? There are some who will kneel down and beg, giving all they have. But you are Russian, you have trained and you already know that among the 10, 7 or 8 will leave very quickly and then it is playable !. What do you do? You run into the crowd before they run into you!
It seems unfortunately that Ukraine is determined to sink, its government undoubtedly sees it as a way of diverting the attention of the Ukrainians against the enormous inflation and unemployment which push the country into poverty, and provoke the flight of Ukrainians… to Russia! Because if the Western propaganda claims that the Ukrainians dream of Europe, it is in Russia that they come! The reality is that those who dream of Europe are not in the east, but on the other side of the Mediterranean!
The most astonishing is all the same that the Americans have not yet realized that they will never have Russia. All their attempts since Yeltsin’s departure have had only one result: We have moved closer to our neighbors… to the east! Their attempt in Ukraine may be the last for a long time because it will come at a high price. For Ukrainians. It is true that with the American record, a few hundred thousand Ukrainian dead do not weigh very heavily … But the Pentagon strategists have perhaps forgotten that the military doctrine of Russia plans to strike the enemy … at home ! And from Vladivostok to San Francisco, the road is very short.

Between the tweets of the inestimable Maria Zakharova, and the hysteria of the US/Ukraine we may actually be witnessing the sudden collapse of the US ‘rules based’ order. If Russia is cut off from SWIFT, I’m sure they will take China and a large portion of the world with them. Even halving the the volume SWIFT transactions will damage the US intelligence network and the value of European banking and Russia and China have been preparing for this for many years.
The comments about Maria Zakharova above were disappointing, she is a very talented, competent lady and worthy of respect. That she is physically attractive does not diminish her intellectual attractiveness, only enhances it.

“Biden administration officials are considering a wide array of options for possible sanctions against Russia to deter it from an alleged plan to invade Ukraine, CNN has reported, citing anonymous sources. The potential options reportedly include sanctions against undefined “members of Putin’s inner circle”, Russian energy companies, and banks. Russia’s sovereign debt might also be targeted, the sources claimed.
According to CNN, the White House also considered a potential “nuclear option” – cutting Russia off SWIFT – a worldwide system of inter-bank communications that are used in international money wires and transactions. The US applied a similar measure against Iran under the presidency of Donald Trump, making it difficult for the country to trade with other members of the international community.
“We have put together a pretty damn aggressive package”, one official told CNN.
No final decision has been made on the sanctions package that could be implemented in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine, CNN said. The White House is reportedly discussing punitive measures with its European partners, who are more tightly connected to the Russian economy, to coordinate action. The European Parliament passed a motion earlier this year containing a “nuclear option” similar to the one being mulled in the White House.”
Reminds me of Dukakis riding in a tank during the ’88 campaign in the U.S.
the only thing I can find after the meeting so far is
Russian President Vladimir Putin is not currently contemplating inviting the US to discussions designed to negotiate peace in the war-torn Donbass region, the Kremlin has insisted.
Speaking to Russia’s Channel One on Tuesday, spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin’s American counterpart, Joe Biden, “won’t be getting such an offer from President Putin, because the format is sufficient,” referring to the current “Normandy” group of nations already engaged in talks.
“The fact that Kiev isn’t following the Minsk protocol has made the format’s effectiveness very slight,” Peskov went on. “But still, both Paris and Berlin thought the format was sufficient, and that there is no need to enlarge it.”
