Turkey concerned over Kurdish expansion in Syria’s north
Much of a recent meeting between top Turkish and US commanders was consumed by one subject that divides the two allies: the extension of the Syrian-Kurdish militia’s reach in northern Syria, a subject that fuels Ankara’s fears over a potential autonomous zone in the region.
The emergence of a Kurdish statelet near the Turkish border with Syria is the last thing Ankara wants to see, and Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar made the point crystal clear in the meeting with his American counterpart, Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
We think people interested in USA’s pivot Asia policy would find the following useful..
This video is of the Sinhala progressive Viraj Mendis interviewed by the Tamilnet website – about the real architects of the massacre of the Tamils in 2009. Mendis argues that the USA/UK ‘war paradigm’, specifically in the context of its ‘Pivot Asia’ policy, necessitated the elimination of the Tamil resistance in the island of Sri Lanka.

“A redesigned cover of The Economist in English-language was published on the Twitter account of the Ukrainian leader .”

In another article we learn the manipulated picture was a gift from his employees.
Humour:
The office of the President
– President Poroshenko, Putin has done it again.
– What? Done what? What have you found out?
– Isn’t it obvious? He conspired with Brussels and stopped visa free travel for Ukrainians.
– He did?
– Yes, and there is more. He had the IMF define the Russian loan as official. You really must do something.
– Do what?
– Well, for starters, you should call Biden again. He loves to hear your voice.
– He does?
– I am sure he does. Yes, and you should call Merkel and Hollande, too. Every day. Show the world you are a man to be reckoned with.
– Good idea. I remember you said that once before.
– Show the world you will be one of the worlds most important politicians by the year 2017.
– How do I do that?
– Here is the Economist. Perhaps it points you in the right direction?
– Eh, no, it doesn’t.
– Do you see Putin?
– Yes.
– He shouldn’t be there, right?
– He shouldn’t.
– We might be able to change that. As a gift to the president of Ukraine.
– Do it.
– As you wish. Oh, by the way, you need to keep the Ukrainian people happy.
– How do I do that?
– Show them you love them and tell them you lead them into new Europe, as opposed to old Europe.
– Is that a good idea? I mean, what will they say in Brussels?
– They will love it. The continent has been waiting for a leader of your caliber for a long time.
– It has?
– Absolutely. They will understand you are one of a kind.
– Ok. Anything else?
– Yes, there is one more thing. You need an exit strategy, if it comes to the worst. There is unrest in the country. Do you have one?
– Sort of, yes. I will seek shelter in the West, of course.
– Excellent. May I inquire where?
– The US or the UK.
– Does anyone else know?
– My family. The other oligarchs have similar exit strategies.
– The common man knows nothing about it and that is a mistake on your part.
– Why?
– Show people you are the only hope they have. Show them what will happen, if they ever rise against you.
– I don’t know. I will think about it.
– Good. Do you happen to have some Russian vodka?
– Of course. Would you like some?
– Yes, please.
– Ok, I will open another bottle. You are a valuable advisor.
– I do my best, mr President, I do my best.
—
The Presidential administration
– Did you do it?
– Yes, and he is drinking again. Second bottle today. Expect him to do something unexpected.
– Ok, I will call his wife when he does.
– Again?
– Yes, again. Poroshenko must go. We are saving the country.
– Indeed we are. Too bad nobody will ever know about it.
