If you want to know how the Western propaganda machine works I recommend the following video with insiders. For example the allegation of “Russian soldiers on the ground” is an old propaganda lie of the CIA.

There is a supposed ex-captain of the Canadian Armed Forces tweeting some fresh information about the evolving situation in Ukraine that seems to be valid from what I can see

It seems like Kolomoisky is going ahead with plans for a separate state within Ukraine. This article gives a short summary of an interview with Kudan, a close partner of Kolomoisky. Hmmm, Poroshenko must be looking over his shoulder. I wonder how this ties in with conditions for the IMF loans. Apparently Privat Bank (Kolomoisky) has received the biggest part of the money so far.

It appears the Galicians have suffered some heavy losses, if these pictures are anything to go by. Maybe 10 to 20 vehicles including several T-72 and BMP/BTRs have been shredded. I wonder what happened here and where.

  5. Yonatan on July 11, 2014  ·  at 2:54 pm EST/EDT

Some time ago I predicted Poroshenko would start sh*tting himself fairly soon. Well, if this report is true and there are large losses on the army (which ties in with my earlier post above), it may be time to start a fundraiser to get him some immodium.

I am beginning to wonder if Kolomoisky’s army has started taking on Poroshenko’s lot.

What better defense for Russia than a hard right nationalist New Russia starting in the Donbass? Exactly what is needed to begin the long process of de-Nazification of the west, the liberation of Odessa, Kharkiv, DP, Kiev. And at the same time liberate Germany and France from US Nazi occupation.

    Will American patriots liberate America?

Here is an interesting take on Putin’s strategic path.

Why Don’t We Have Eyes To See?

I agree with the author. Many of the steps taken by Russia so far have been simple to show others there is a better way.

Though, there is more to the story.

I have found identification of the destroyed military unit. It is the Ukrainian 24th Motorized Brigade. Here is a high resolution image showing the extent of the destruction. It is not a complete representation as the tanks and APCs are not shown. I get the impression that whatever happened, happened very quickly so the unit had no time to respond. What could do this? Airstrike? MLRS attack? Sabotage? Someone smoking in the ammo dump?

The people in Lvov will now feel what it was for the people in Slavyansk, the small diversion armoured group that was in burnt to the ground, half a torso of a man lay by the road.

Few more cases like that one today and there will be negotiations and mutual agreement for piece.

  11. the pessimist on July 11, 2014  ·  at 3:44 pm EST/EDT

That video on the twitter account must be the battle at the border where the armor was destroyed – it was said to take place just at dawn.

Yonatan – you must have seen by now that is was the MLRS used there. The news that Kolomoisky is going for his own kingdom I see as the death knell for united Ukraine – unless the oligarchs are all run out of town and completely fresh faces emerge. Poor Odessa.

  12. Larchmonter445 on July 11, 2014  ·  at 3:52 pm EST/EDT

It’s a signal to the Ukies that Crimea’s border will have even more devastation waiting for their army.

Very modern gear going into Crimea. And tactical nukes. I’m sure there are cruise missiles in the navy ships in the Black Sea programming the Ukie “threat” into those missiles. Satellite launches this past week have been in low orbit. I’d bet they can read the writing on those American MREs the Ukies are eating.

Bring it on. The Hegemon wants a war, but this one will be over in a flash!

  13. Anonymous on July 11, 2014  ·  at 3:56 pm EST/EDT

Neutral observer here. Can someone like Saker finally write a post that discusses whether Russian manpads no longer have the ability to shoot down Ukraine planes that have modern devices put on them given by the USA? This would mean that a No Fly Zone cannot be placed on the zone by the Russians or rebels. It would also mean that the US is showing the Russians that it can arm the Ukrainians to beat them. For instance, if the Russians cannot shoot down Ukrainian planes over Donetsk and Lugansk, they also cannot shoot them down when they fly over Crimea or elsewhere.

So despite the idea that there will be a rebel victory over regular non-Right Sector UA army units out in the open in the “Donetsk Pocket” it looks like Russia’s inability to shoot down Ukr planes is a serious issue that nobody seems to be talking about anywhere for some reason. It would mean of course that Russia cannot shoot down NATO planes.

This is big. Yet you bloggers don’t think it’s worthy of discussion. You’d think the continued air superiority of Ukraine would be a ground for concern for Russia. A simple device (not flares) can make old SU-25’s immune to manpads?

Also, why is there no discussion, yet, of the right sector guerrillas now fighting inside Lugansk and Donetsk and apparently making some kills? There is street fighting happening now but no discussion about how this infiltration might be countered. Are they wearing LNR uniforms in some cases?

  14. Yonatan on July 11, 2014  ·  at 4:23 pm EST/EDT

The Novorossiya news agency says their troops have taken the highest point at the south east end of the the long corridor along the Russian border from Amvroiiska at the east to Sverdlorsk at the west. From this point, all Ukie troop movements are visible so the Ukies have to move at night. The then encounter minefields. At long last the sore thumb along the Russian border has been given some attention.

    Neutral anonymous 15:56

Novorossia forces have taken down another Ukie bomber near Perevalsk, west of Lugansk.

    Pessimist 15:54

I thought MLRS was most likely, but at the time I had no confirmation. I still like the idea of someone smoking in the ammo dump – it would be so appropriate for the heroic Ukies.

  15. the pessimist on July 11, 2014  ·  at 4:35 pm EST/EDT

Neutral observer – several more aircraft downed today. Skies are NOT safe for junta air power. Ya – maybe they got some extra anti-targeting gear to help with low-tech MANPADs but it clearly ain’t enough. No threat to real air defense systems for sure.

Lughansk and especially Donetsk are large urban areas and not sealed. DPR has new security chief to help with this threat. There has been a problem with junta spies on bicycles posing as ‘tourists’ providing targeting info. Such problems are well known and to be expected and will be dealt with as best the militia is able – thus the talk of martial law in conflict zones.

Quit with the invented problems already.

It seems that one of Strelkov’s assitants, Arsen Pavlov aka ‘Motorola’, has married a young woman he met at Slavyansk. His bride, Elena, looked stunning in an off-the-shoulder long white satin gown, with matching white satin waist band and bow. Her hair was set off by a braiding of St George ribbons and she carried a small posy of red and white roses, with decorative ferns, all enhanced by long St George streamers matching those in her hair. Her whole ensemble was set off by a contrasting black under-arm pistol holster with matching Glock* pistol.

I would like to wish the couple a long and happy life together.

    * Glock is artistic license. it’s the only pistol name I know.

Dear Anonymous/Neutral Observer: Your “neutrality” is hilarious. Why would Russian experts show their hand to you on this blog? Really? And to respond to your “neutral” question — you may recall the recent fly-over by that Russian fighter…the one that shut down the USS Cook’s defense system — which caused some consternation to the sailors on board that ship. Oh dear. Seemed like the Russians knew exactly what they were doing and jamming that day. One might conclude they’re prepared for whatever hardware the US supplies to Ukies. You can obviously troll otherwise in your “oh so neutral” way. But your schtick doesn’t impress.

It’s annoying that you believe disingeniousness is fooling anyone. It really just pisses off anyone who reads and thinks and tries to sort through the garbage spewed by people like YOU all over the MSM. OK — I get it — you think the American public are dolts and can’t see through your psyops. Give me a fuking break. I don’t care which side you’re on. But your attempts to manipulate and obfuscate have the opposite effect you desire. People are developing IMMUNITY to the lies, deceits, mendacity that people like YOU use as their stock in trade.

Russians on this blog are generally too polite to tell you to get-fuked. Fortunately, I don’t have that restraint. Go peddle your BS on Brietbart or HufPo. Your tribe.

LOL – on your write-up. That was funny.

I read earlier they met after she had been injured and he helped her out. A “knight in shining armour helps the damsel in distress” sort of story. ;)

Congrats to them both, and I hope they have a long happy life together.
