Many lands are beautiful but that is a narrow scope – they are simply all earth, of which I am sure of the patch of my own birth..
The Alien would be astounded by the groupthink – all of the groupthink.
My own groupthink problem would have led to Cuba prior to the raising of the flag there recently.
The sulphurous stink of capitalism that pervades Russia would lead me far from it.
Some attachment can be good but the Alien would also find belief in fairytales incomprehensible.
The biggest country must have it’s fair share of beauty – dream of that and then move on.

I remember from my bible studies that the ancient Syrians and Assyrians were formidable fighters and greatly feared. They were called exceedingly cruel but this could have been later Roman propaganda which used the Syrians as role models.
Desert eagles in Arabian, sukur Al-sakhra, has a strange resonance with saker vineyard protectors, sukur and saker.
In the film, the sukur’s were likened to spetsnaz. In Syria the sukurs may be more battle hardened than the spetsnaz. They looked older and more dangerous than the young spetsnaz I recall in the Russian self-portrayals. Some of them were not even wearing helmets and no tanks. Plus they’re on their home ground defending it.
And let’s not forget there was a camera person at risk.
Will to win over the terrorist infrastructure was mentioned in the context of whole countries and the world itself as terrorists. That’s what I call taking the high ground with aerial recon. In the info war we’ve got to target not just the infrastructure but the superstructure that needs to fall like a house of cards.

IS has given up on their 2 pit stop towns on the supply roués from Turkey so they must think the US will somehow resupply them even with out a land route.
DeirEzzor could use some of these soldiers.. Nato seems to very very desperate. 5 tries to break into the military base in the last 2 weeks alone and they killed 300 relatives and kidnapped 400.. The area holds the largest oil deposits in Syria. If there is any chance to split the country, those oil wells needs to be captured from the Syrian government. From how IS is behaving it does look like the US has not given up on splitting Syria and Iraq just yet.
Just from the number of high ranking Syrian officers at the base including their very best shows how important the Syrian government thinks of keeping this base. But maybe they should use some of those experienced soldiers in other areas. A besieged base don’t need that level of competence but maybe it is to keep loyalty of the soldiers stuck in the middle of nowhere and under siege for years.
