Voiceover by Harold Hoover
ISIS has reportedly deployed large reinforcements, including experienced infantry and technicals, from the terrorist group’s strong points in the eastern Salamiyah countryside in order to retake the strategic town of Sukhna from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies.
According to reports, a notable ISIS force is still shelling government forces from the high ground north of Sukhna. Meanwhile, a high number of IEDs and a threat of suicide bombing attacks prevent government forces from advancing in the Sukhna countryside.
On Monday, the SAA repelled a few ISIS attacks, but on Tuesday, sporadic clashes continued appearing near the town.
If ISIS is able to deploy enough reinforcements and to re-group before the SAA captures the town and the nearby hills, the terrorists will likely have a chance to take Sukhna back. The situation remains tense. According to pro-government sources, ISIS lost up to 40 members in the clashes for Sukhna.
According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), 64 ISIS members have been killed in the recent clashes between the terrorist group and government forces: 30 in Sukhna, 18 in southern Raqqah, and 16 in eastern Hama. The SOHR also reported that 14 government forces service members were killed.
East of Salamiyah, the SAA and the National Defense Forces liberated the village of Manoukh and the nearby Manoukh hill. The advance followed the liberation of Marina village southeast of the town of Ithryah. Both advances were part of the wider effort aimed at increasing pressure on ISIS units east of Salamiyah and clearing the key area of Uqayrabat from ISIS terrorists. This also helps to pre-occupy ISIS manpower, complicating any ISIS attempt at launching a counter-attack on Sukhna.
In Deir Ezzor, government forces repelled another ISIS attempt to advance on the army base and killed some 12 ISIS members.
In the city of Raqqah, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) seized Karim district and a large part of Ramelah district. Local sources report that a dozen ISIS members were killed or wounded as a result of airstrikes and artillery shelling.
After Tony Blair invaded Iraq, and saddam’s main force was nuked (yes, really- using a ‘modern’ high yield radiation device), the invaders only faced asymetric ‘terror’ hit-n-run forces in the years that followed.
Compare with present day Syria. The wahhabi terror gangs are able to openly operate full blown armoured divisions, despite (in theory) having no resources of their own to create such a thing. Now we know the only answer to this ‘impossibility’ is that ISIS is actually a proxy army of the West- with access to the best ‘toys’ Saudi Arabian money can buy from the West and the East arms markets.
My point is that Putin cannot deny he is at war with the West in Syria. The soldiers may (and are) be mercenaries, but the training, money, and equipment is all courtesy of the West.
Now recently the wahhabi terror gangs shelled the Russian embassy in Syria- which means the West attacked the embassy- in reality an act of war. Putin begged the UN to pass a resolution condemning this attack- and the UK and USA vetoed the resolution.
A little later, the US Congress, in a Soviet style bloc, voted to massively sanction Russia, Iran and N Korea.
How did Putin respond. He got down on his knees, told the Chinese to get down on their knees, and voted for the American UN resolution that imposes new sanctions on N Korea and prohibits one billion dollars of export trade between N Korea and the world. That;s right- Putin allowed America to reduce the earning of one of the poorest nations by 30% to please the US Deep State.
Now we know N Korea’s real income is grants from China which are unaffected by any sanctions, but that’s not the point. The sick, vile racist idea that the jews of Israel can build any weapon of mass destruction without sanction, but Iranians and N Koreans cannot is the exact opposite of the Russian ideal that all people are equal.
Israel is a sick demonic nation built on the genocide of those Humans they claim ‘god’ defines as ‘lesser’. Israel attacks its neighbours to prove its untouchable bully status. Iran and N Korea, on the other hand, engage in purely defensive efforts- both having experience attacks and threats of attack from Israel or the historic allies of Israel. For trying to defend themselves, Russia has punished both with support of racist sanctions in the UN- and clearly continues to do so at the behest of the West.
Some fools will say “Russia voted with the Deep State to try to prevent US military action in N Korea”. Sorry, the USA will never attack N Korea if N Korea does not attack someone else first- and N Korea has zero incentive to attack anyone (unprovoked). America split the former slave state of Japan to prevent Korea rivalling Japan as a regional power. Without American interference, Korea would reunify faster than Germany did when the USSR withdrew from East Germany.
So Putin’s horrific servile vote at the UNSC was preventing nothing, but once again makes Russia look less than the USA in the eyes of the world. To the world, Russia is but a whipped dog that still licks the boots of its master.
And I will say it again- only a few weeks back the UK and USA vetoed the UNSC Russian resolution condemning the ISIS attack on the Russian embassy in Syria. A resolution that mild and harmless, and the UK and USA still stuck their boot in.
Putin’s “America do what you will, but at the end of the day Russia still has tons of nukes” philosophy is going to kill us all. Because if Putin continues to allow America free reign, then the day approaches when American arrogance will inevitably bring the USA into direct conflict with Russia. And the people of the USA will think this right and proper up until the very moment Russia nukes vaporise them all.
How do you think the members of the US Congress will take the news of Putin voting with America to bash N Korea at the UNSC, after Congress voted overwhelmingly to lump Russia in with Iran and N Korea? A smart warrior finishes off his opponent when he is down- so Congress now feels free to go beserk on Russia. Russia has interests across the planet that America can take out one by one.
This ‘faintheart’ strategy that certain people have been insisting Putin follows since the NATO takeover of Ukraine has never given us even one tiny strategic success. NATO grows stronger day by day as once neutral ex-Soviet states see Russia as a midget compared to the West. Perception is everything. Russia taking back full control of Crimea was good, but even Putin couldn’t find a fainthearted option in that one situation.
Ukraine was paramount. The lesson to nations under NATO pressure was “either accept NATO forces in your lands or suffer an American backed neo-nazi coup”. So Russia’s failure to act properly in Ukraine has led to a load of previous ditherers to throw their lot in with NATO.
And this Russian UNSC vote for America makes it seem like the USA is the planet’s only legitimate judge in issues of what a nation may or may not do. And in the aftermath of this disasterous vote I’ve seen a resurgance of propaganda in the mainstream press demonising Assad and Russia in Syria.
I tend to agree with you in regards to sanctions against NK. Quite surprising that Russia would vote for sanctions just weeks after being sanctioned once again by US. NK has a right as a sovereign nation to protect itself from US hegemon, by producing nuclear weapon. They cannot forget destruction caused by US in Korean war, it is a consant reminder what might happen again. Only way to figth a hegemon is to show him teeth. Showing any sort of weakness will give them a reason to step up. That is a mistake Russia is making in its relationship with US. And voting for sanctions against NK is seen in US congress as a weakness that those lunatics will use to attack Russia even harder.
Agree. Also by voting for Nkorean sactions, Putin has given US the high moral ground. …for it to continue to pursue and plunging the world with terror for its own hegemonic agrnda.
My point is that Putin cannot deny he is at war with the West in Syria.
No, he cannot, but we need to clarify who is the enemy.
Putin’s enemy is the Zionist West. Given their penchant to make war and commit genocide, killing hundreds of millions for century upon century, it is indeed the Zionist Oligarchs who are the enemy of all mankind.
For Russia and ourselves to be victorious, we must hold fast to the truth, our greatest strength, and in the case of Russia it must not fall for the latest round of Zionist provocations, a policy they have steadfastly pursued for the entirety of Putin’s tenure, and which has continuously frustrated the demonic ambitions of his opponents.
As with the consolidation of the National Guard under Zolotov, Putin is aware of his position, and of the relative strength of his enemies, both external and domestic. He will do nothing to sacrifice Russia for North Korea, which is irrelevant and under Chinese influence in any case.
And most importantly, China is allied to the Zionist West, notwithstanding mountains of propaganda suggesting the oppposite should be — must be — has to be — true.
It isn’t. This is the biggest fallacy promoted in Zionist controlled alternative media, and has disrupted the calculations of many smart people.
The Anglo-Zionist and Chinese Deep States are intimately intertwined, and have been for almost 2 centuries. It is wishful thinking to believe otherwise, stoked in our imaginations by a relentless propaganda campaign promoting the idea that China and Russia have a partnership based solely on their need for stability, but Russia can never deliver stability to the World Island even with China as a partner so long as the Zionist Empire refuses to concede.
Only the Zionsts can offer an end to belligerence, thus easing the way for Chinese access to the Middle East and it’s oil.
Russia can truthfully offer nothing to China compared to the Zionist Oligarchy, still today centred on the City of London, and if anyone bothers to check a map they will notice the Silk Roads bypass sparsely populated Russia almost entirely. The Russians can only make themselves relelvant by holding fast in Syria, and waiting for the storm to blow over. If indeed the Zionists intend to set fire to the Near East and West Asia, this hurts the Chinese more than anyone.
This Russia knows. Putin understands the game of Perfidious Albion more than anyone.
We are transitioning from the old US dollar fiat to the new Anglo-Zionist Chinese fiat. The British Zionist Oligarchy have offered the Chinese everything they want and need: including political stability, financial expertise and cultural power. Against this Russia can only offer an opportunity for China to become dependent on Russian oil.
Putin will do nothing to provoke the United States at this late juncture, with September-October the most likely time frame for the unfolding of a well planned crisis. Understanding Trump is under Zionist control, Putin awaits the intentional collapsing of the United States government and provocation of mass unrest, if not outright civil war. Like Russia, the United States is a dangerous entity should the Zionists falter in the aftermath of their shakedown. It is then that Russia can send it’s strength to the United States and it’s people. In a matter of months the world will begin to unravel the causes of the disaster that awaits them, and it is then Russia will be come to be seen not as the cause of the disaster but as the only nation wise enough to not to fall for the Zionist ruse.
Very thoughtful analysis. The situation is exactly as you say. If anything, it is ten times worse.
At this stage in the game Zion doesn’t need a war. What for? The last enemies were knocked out in WW2. Zion soft powers – academics, science, pharma, law, IT, media & entertainment – are so overwhelmingly powerful, that the only shots fired are for trauma-based mind-control, crowd control and general excitement. Putin has very little space to maneuver in and he uses it very astutely.
twilight,
I think you are a bit too harsh on Russia regarding NK.
I would expect Putin to do what is in the best interests of Russia and I believe he did that.
What does Russia gain from NK regime in its current form?
Very, very little. Kim is a pariah and NK is most isolated/sanctioned country in the world
What does Russia lose if NK is attacked and destroyed?
Very, very little. They share only 11 miles of border in an isolated area of Russia. Why should they put their standing in the world and resources towards defending NK? What reward do they get compared to the risks?
What does Russia gain if NK is attacked and destroyed?
Very, very little. Profiteering will be mostly by those involved in the action. If NK is brought into China’s fold there is some potential there for increased trade. One could make an argument that should a large scale action happen and inevitably goes much worse than planned that the Western Allies will be weakened and that would be good for Russia.
For Russia it is about picking and choosing battles. Why put your nose into someone else’s fight when you have no interest in the outcome? Once I stepped in when a girl was getting beat up by her boyfriend only to have her hit me with a brick me when she thought I was beating him up too much for beating her up. Taught me not to get involved in other people’s drama. No upside to it.

One of Syrian Tribes Joins Governmental Troops in Anti-Daesh Fight – Source
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201708091056302754-syrain-tribe-joins-daesh-fight/
“The Syrian tribe of Altaj-Malian signed a loyalty agreement with the Syrian government vowing to fight against Daesh terror group, outlawed in Russia, a source in the Russian Center for Syrian reconciliation told Sputnik.
The agreement was signed on Monday by representatives of the reconciliation center and a tribal elder.
“According to the representative of the tribe, thanks to the efforts of the Russian party, the sheikh [of the tribe] is now fighting with his unit of 750 people against [Daesh] in the eastern front,” the source said.
The source added that the reconciliation center was working to create the national reconciliation committee that would include representatives of the Syrian government and civil administrations of the settlements located in the de-escalation zones and controlled by illegal armed formations.
“While signing the agreement, the tribe’s elder and sheikhs of different tribes of the southern de-escalation zone expressed gratitude to Russia for the re-establishment of peace in the country,” the source said, adding that another tribe showed interest in signing the loyalty agreement with the Syrian government.”
I do not understand why Russia voted for sanctions on North Korea when Russia is suffering from sanctions itself. I would like to know or understand why Russia did this.

As far as this vid – where’s Russia ? Syria needs Russia in this video
This thread starts out with a well-reasoned, rather discouraging perspective on the only modern nation state that has in any way resisted the depravities of the Exception a lists, Inc. Surprised no one has tried to refute the dreary conclusion. Auslandrer? Larchmont?
Ed,
First, if you read Twilight’s comments they are always filled with wrong facts, suppositions built on misinterpretation of events, delusion and elliptical lapses in logic.
Second, cleaning up his lengthy ‘rants’ is a waste of time.
Third, why the hell should Auslander or I correct the guy?
His hyperbole is his entitlement as long as Saker grants him space. I’ve got little time for cleaning up his droppings. He always blames Putin for everything. Everything. He also expects that Russia is all-powerful and can simply control the Hegemon and roll back the efforts of 75 years of hegemony.
To what end would be such a “lesson” if I spent an hour to teach him the facts?
We used to have a poster, Paul, who was like this. In fact, I suspect Twilight is Paul.
In short, to sum up, it’s drivel to read and nonsense to comment upon.
But he’s been given equal opportunity, and I support freedom of speech. He has a right from Saker to be utterly wrong and overly emotional. He isn’t the first nor will he be the last.

It may be the case that twilight is some kind of raving lunatic, but it sure looks like people are having difficulty seeing it, or seeing all those “wrong facts, suppositions built on misinterpretation of events, delusion and elliptical lapses in logic”
If it is so obvious and easy, it should be child’s play to put him in his place by pointing out where the infantile error of his ways exactly resides.
Saying that one just does not feel up to the task because it is a “waste of time” sounds extremely unconvincing. I for one fail to see all those big “elliptical lapses”, especially in regard to his pointing out the perplexing fact of Russia going happily along with these outrageous and totally unjustifiable sanctions after being itself hit with a round of similar sanctions. Does this make sense? Why exactly is it that NK cannot build the weapons it might need to defend itself but Israel can? Has NK attacked anyone yet?
The massively hypocritical double standard is so obvious it does not need any explaining. Jeane Kirkpatrick might say we are engaging in outrageous “moral equivalence” when we make these comparisons, but the phrase itself is meaningless. The question is: Has NK attacked anyone? If not, what are the sanctions for? And why does Russia go along with them after justifiably protesting similar outrageous sanctions against herself?
Refusing to tackle these questions on the grounds that it would be a “waste of time” is not convincing at all. The questions are very relevant, pertinent, and in no way do they suggest the thinking of a person aflicted by “delusions”. That sounds just like a cop out.
Dear Larchmonter445,
I’m concerned with the implications for the Crimean Federal District should the U.S. complete the build out of a naval base located in Ochakiv, Ukraine which is less than two hundred nautical miles away from the peninsula
(see: http://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=101829 ). According to the website, the ops center is one of three projects planned for this port.
The plan for a “boat maintenance facility” may mean a submarine dock since U.S. Navy subs are referred to as boats not ships, as in surface warfare. I’m sure the Russian Defense Ministry will closely observe any deep harbor dredging the U.S. undertakes as a gauge to what kind of NATO vessels will be accommodated since the Ukraine doesn’t have much of a surface fleet.
Installations on land that have surface to surface missile platforms can readily be located and neutralized. However a missile submarine legally in a Ukrainian port would be more difficult to stop should it get underway prior to an attack on Crimea.
Do you have an opinion about this latest development?
Have you seen any concern from Moscow or Sevastopol?
It’s a marina in the making. Sounds big. Isn’t. Controllable with 2 grenade launchers.
Odessa is the big port. This for fishing boats and water skiing. (I joke, but, it’s agitation, nothing much more.) Poking the Bear. When your dick is limp you’re not a player. The US is a joke, waving its wand at Donbass and Moscow.
Auslander would be the best to answer this authoritatively in relation to Crimea’s concern.
What is going on is the defacto Natoization of the Ukraine. Americans have run the place since Maidan. The junta is a front. CIA runs SBU. NATO and US run the Military. The only free force in Ukraine are nazi battalions. Ironic, eh?
Trucks With US Supplies Cross Into Kurdish-Controlled Syrian Territory – Reports
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201708081056286560-us-trucks-syria-kurds-turkey/
“The United States delivered 112 trucks with supplies, including military equipment, to the Kurdish-controlled areas of northeastern Syria, Turkish media reported Tuesday.
The Anadolu news agency reported that the media outlet’s correspondent had seen the convoy crossing into the territory of the Syrian Hasakah province on Monday night.
The news outlet added that the convoy included trucks, fuel tankers and low-loaders transporting Humvee vehicles and aimed to support the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), which Ankara considers to be a branch of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), outlawed in Turkey.
This is not the first batch of US aid to the Kurdish groups, as over 900 trucks were already sent to the Kurdish-held areas of Syria on Monday, the news agency added.”
Saker quoted in the next article:
Specter of Syrian Kurdistan: How US’ Covert Plan is Taking Shape
https://sputniknews.com/politics/201708081056294766-syria-kurds-turkey/
“Washington is implementing its step-by-step plan to create a Kurdish independent state in northern Syria, Turkish journalist and political observer Mehmet Ali Guller believes.
“The basis of the fight against Daesh [ISIS/ISIL], which was dubbed as the ‘Obama strategy’ in the US, was to place the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the territories liberated from terrorists,” Guller explained in his interview with Sputnik Turkey.
“Thus, the United States planned to unify the three cantons claimed by the PYD and expand the territory further downwards, and also to ensure the legitimacy of the Kurdish state in the course of the fight against Daesh,” he assumed.
“The statement made by the CIA last week about the completion of the program to train and equip the Syrian opposition inspired some hopes for positive changes in the Syrian conflict. However, one should not be mistaken, the US hasn’t actually halted this program, it has just stopped supporting some jihadist groups,” Guller pointed out.
“In fact, this major process of training [of US proxies] is being conducted right now. How? By training and providing military assistance to Kurdish self-defense units whom the United States continues to deliver wagons of weapons, most notably, heavy weapons,” the Turkish journalist highlighted.
According to Guller, the Pentagon is trying to transform the YPG into a regular army.
The Turkish leadership needs to realize that Ankara and Damascus’ interests in the region overlap, Guller insists.
“The situation could be stabilized only through a gradual, step-by-step process which will take place if Ankara and Damascus reach an agreement on it. Otherwise, the US will create Kurdistan in Syria as they have done in Iraq over 25 years,” Guller warned.
On the other hand, it’s not in the interest of the Kurds to be turned into US ground forces in the region, he added.
“The only way to exist in peace and stability for neighboring nations is to bring an end to the American imperialism in the region,” the Turkish political observer told Sputnik.
The Saker, a US-based military analyst who runs his own blog of the same name, shares Guller’s concerns about the alleged US plans to create an independent entity in northern Syria.
“The Kurds are the only possible candidates for the role of ‘boots on the ground’ for the US,” The Saker pointed out in his interview with Sputnik, “It is, therefore, no wonder that the Americans would try to use them in some way. That, in turn, implies that the Americans must give the Kurds something, such as a promise of some kind of more or less independent Kurdistan, to entice them to play this role.”
“It has always been US policy to support minorities against majorities,” the military analyst added.
However, according to the blogger, the US plan is likely to fail.
“I am convinced that the USA will eventually try to break up Syria. That is typical US strategy: what they cannot control they will try to break… The good news is that Russia is opposed to that plan and that Iran and Turkey are also opposed to it as a direct consequence of their opposition to the creation of any type of Kurdistan,” the military analyst elaborated.
“This reality on the ground means that any US plan to create some type of Kurdistan to weaken Syria and put pressure on Turkey and Iran will end up being a pipe dream,” he said.”
Turkey ‘Could Get Green Light for Afrin Offensive’ in Return for Syria Sweetener
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201708081056296511-turkey-syria-ypg-military-operation/
“In particular, there is constant military activity in the region of the Turkish town of Kilis and the Syrian town of Azaz. At certain times of the evening, there is the sound of artillery fire coming from Afrin. Local sources told us that Turkey is preparing for a limited ground operation. The same can be said by analyzing the formation of forces at the Syrian border,” Bayraktar explained.
Bayraktar thinks that Ankara could get the “green light” to go ahead with its operation in Afrin if it puts pressure on anti-government forces elsewhere in Syria, in return.
This could help the Syrian army to regroup its forces from areas such as Idlib and make further gains against Daesh in the area around Deir ez-Zor, where the army recently drove out Daesh from Al-Sukhnah.
“I believe that contacts between the leadership of Turkey and Syria are being mediated by Russia, which maintains close cooperation with both Turkey and Damascus. Consequently, here Russia is the main player coordinating this issue. In particular, we see that the Syrian army and forces supported by Russia have now taken a very serious step towards moving towards Deir ez-Zor.”
“It is possible that Russia and the Syrian government forces, in exchange for the possibility to strengthen their positions in the strategically important region of Idlib, which is located very close to the Khmeimim air base, will agree to give the green light to Turkey to carry out the operation in Afrin, which Ankara regards as the stronghold of the Kurdish threat,” Bayraktar said.”
‘This is No Liberation’: US Coalition ‘Lays Waste’ to Raqqa
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201708091056314573-us-coalition-strikes-civilian-casualties/
“Omar al-Asad, deputy head of Syrian parliament committee on foreign affairs, told Sputnik Arabic that the US-led coalition forces had leveled entire districts in the city of Raqqa, while portraying these “criminal acts” that claim the lives of innocent civilians and children as the war against Daesh.
“The US kills ordinary Syrians while shying away from Daesh forces. The Raqqa operation should be described as sabotage and laying waste, not as liberation,” al-Asad said.
The Syrian MP urged the global community to help stop the coalition strikes that are wreaking havoc upon the city infrastructure in Raqqa.
“The Americans would’ve liberated Raqqa a long time ago if they wanted; they know every patch of terrain in the city thanks to their satellites. The Syrian army however not only wants to fight against terrorists, it does actually fight them. For example, a few days ago the town of al-Sukhnah was liberated,” he said.
Omar al-Asad also accused the US of perpetrating crimes against civilians in the provinces of Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa on a daily basis. He pointed out that the coalition does not offer any confirmation of its alleged successes, such as the exact number of enemy troops killed and military hardware destroyed.”
Syria Faces New Threat: Al Qaeda Affiliate Hayat Tahir al-Sham Seeks to Unite Radical Terrorist Formations
http://www.globalresearch.ca/syria-faces-new-threat-al-qaeda-affiliate-hayat-tahir-al-sham-seeks-to-unite-radical-terrorist-formations/5603165
“While the Syrian Arab Army backed by allied forces is conducting a successful counter-terrorism operation along the Euphrates River, Al Qaeda Hayat Tahrir al-Sham continues to strengthen in the south of the province of Idlib. And furthermore, the militants intend to become ‘moderate opposition’.
This is confirmed by the fact that nowadays Hayat Tahrir al-Sham fighters are campaigning to unite all radical formations of the province under its authority.
According to the Syrian Arab Army’s High Command, most likely, this will be followed by a renaming of the extended terrorist group. According to it, this is necessary for militants to turn their terrorist group in a ‘moderate opposition group’. Such a rebranding will allow Hayat Tahrir al-Sham fighters to participate in the political process in Syria.
It is also likely that if a state decides to support such a group openly, it may not fear accusations of links with terrorists, since assistance will be provided to a new “moderate” organization.
Simultaneously, according to Brigadier General of the Syrian Army Fouvaz Mustafa, militants of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham are preparing for a large-scale offensive in the direction of the city of Hama. In its turn, it is possible that this will make the SAA to redeploy forces, transfer some of the troops from the direction of Deir ez-Zor, and reduce the pressure on surrounded ISIS terrorists.
According to Syrian experts, such altruism of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham seems quite strange, because previously these groups have never cooperated with each other. In this regard, it becomes obvious that both organizations are not independent players, but only puppets in the hands of influential sponsors, whose intervention is nothing more than hopelessness.”
Looks like a repetition of a common strategy employed by the zionazis in their war by terrorist proxy against Syria.
vot tak,
For me this always begs the question as to why not pursue the simplest solution?
Al Qaeda, ISIS, Al Nursra – All the same thing – Mercenary armies.
Mercenary Armies are actually the most easily defeated forces there are. Cut the money and the army literally disintegrates. If I were charged with countering their threat, I would only put enough forces in play to keep them in check while I killed all their sponsors.
If Russia chose to end the situation in Syria, they could do it in 6 months by killing every sponsor to every group fighting the Syrian government. The “Diplomatic” thing to do is have the little people fight it out and die for the Elites instead of directly killing the Elites that oppose you. Russia does get some good training, testing of equipment and doctrines in the meantime.
Whoever controls the money supply controls the world. They stay over a pile of $500 trillion and cannot be defeated by a head on collision, unless with a total nuclear war. I totally agree with your opinion “Cut the money and the army literally disintegrates” and here is the trick. The ISIS appeared as a very well equipped army with hundred of thousands soldiers and unlimited capitals. Most of us was wondered what might happens if these rag tags would bite the hand of their master, who is feeding and supporting them. Your idea provides the answer, but this works one way only. The master is in charge to disband them, if necessary, by cutting the money flow. It is more practical to destroy them in battleground, than cutting they money “fighting an invisible enemy”.
One more thing to ad. Over the skies of Moscow, while a Messerschmitt was in head on collision with a Soviet Yakovlev Yak, at the last moment, in most of the cases, the German Plane Yielded and gave the chance for the Russian Pilot to give a burst with its 12.7mm heavy machine un. But tables turned over in the Germany sky because, in most cases, the Russian Pilot Yielded. The Point is Patriotism. With a mercenary army, heavy loses, make non sense for them to fight for a pay. I’m excluding the suicide bombers that in my opinion are a minority. The only way to get rid of them, it is a very heavy concentrated Artillery fire, combined with heavy air bombing. Otherwise the master, in possession of unlimited capitals can hire unlimited mercenaries, willing to fight for a couple of hundreds of dollars per month.
Yes, right off the bat i knew something was wrong with ISIS when they magically gained U.S. made equipment that Iraqi forces left when they retreated and we did not immediately do airstrikes to destroy it all. They acquired that equipment because we wanted them to have it. You cannot convince a former military guy who knows SOP for how to destroy equipment you are forced to leave behind of any other explanation.
Not entirely which you are leaning to as better option, fight a mercenary army by conventional means or go after their sponsors directly?
What i would say to your point is that it is a fruitless endeavor to spend resources destroying forces that will continually be replenished as long as the money is flowing. Only reason to do that is to combat test your forces and equipment. There comes a point of diminishing return of investment on that. When that point is reached, then it is time to send some of your battle hardened operators to cut the money off at the source. I’d say make 20 ghosts. If funding continues in 2018, double it to 40.
