So far, Team Putin has done exceedingly well on the diplomacy front.
Expect something similar with the renewed talk of ‘safe zones’. Because there are Clinton Foundation/Google/CIA safe zones and, yes, real safe zones. Russia wouldn’t mind latter, but will it ever come to this? Probably not.
might be a political move just to offer the USA some kind of joint participation..hopefully more than that

According to a Russian expert, pooled efforts of all political players, regardless of their political views, are needed to uproot terrorism in Syria…”
“Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem warned Monday that the ‘safe zones’ plan favored by US President Donald Trump is in violation of sovereignty, unless it is organized in coordination with the Syrian government.
According to the Syrian state news agency, SANA, foreign ministry and UNHCR officials agreed that any attempt to establish safe zones without authorization from Damascus is an “unsafe act.”
Who does Trump consider Syrians? The majority that have stayed the course with their legitimate government or the headchoppers than the MSM calls The Syrian people? This part is not clear yet but Trump seems to consider MSM fake news. Be interesting if the Saudi’s end up paying for safe zones that are set up in conjunction with the Syrian government.
Two things always amaze me about much of this fighting: first, that so frequently the fighters are standing out in plain sight in the middle of a street blazing away at nothing in particular with their assault rifles; and second, that the terrorist gangs which are often fighting in open desert, again in plain sight with maybe an earthen barricade if front of them, aren’t taken out by air strikes.
If they were fighting against the US or Israel, they would be getting decimated by cluster bombs and napalm like Saddam’s troops in the US invasions of Iraq. I would be seriously surprised if Russia doesn’t manufacture both types of bomb. Are they holding back for political reasons? Bad PR?
I’ve been thinking about that myself, first it’s hard to tell if you’re not on the ground, the terrain is pretty difficult (stretched, though open), then I think it’s difference in civilian lives (if you care), those rats always mix with population, guerrilla warfare is difficult to fight against, and in the end it seems that Russians have very limited exposure in all this, we’ll probably be surprised with how much they managed to achieve with that amount of people, power. More striking to me is how they allowed so much troops to get from Iraq to Palmyra over open desert, that’s not clear but could by any of the above reasons, and more
Tartous is too valuable for the Russians to jeopardize. I think Tartous was why they became involved in the first place. The Russians are too smart, conservative, and shrewd to put their facility at risk, regardless of who the US pres. might be.
There’s been heavy fighting in Donbass. Why isn’t this blog reporting on it?
I suggest you look on the ‘News RSS feed’. There are quite a handful of articles there on the situation. The RSS Feed is designed for ‘breaking news’.
I am sure that the Saker blog will also tackle this as soon as someone begins to grasp the urgency of the situation. The failed, criminal state formerly known as The Ukraine does not promise to go away anytime soon, but events in the USA are seminal to resolving the situation there as well. Hence the Saker focus on the USA – fk mod.

WTF?
Russia is now willing to consider “safe zones” in Syria in negotiation with America?
IF this is true, it means the colonial carve-up of Syria is beginning–led by Trump’s America and Russia.

I am concerned about this also
I can’t understand Russia
This would be a betrayal of Syria and the allies
