https://southfront.org/syrian-war-report-january-30-2018-sdf-sends-reinforcements-to-afrin/
On January 29, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Tiger Forces fully secured the town of Abu al-Duhur in eastern Idlib after a series of clashes with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda).
Meanwhile, pro-militant sources reported that the Syrian Air Force and the Russian Aerospace Forces started conducting airstrikes in the area of Saraqib in a move described as a preparation for the upcoming SAA offensive there.
Overnight on January 30, a Turkish military convoy reportedly reached the area of Al-Eis in southern Aleppo in order to establish an observation point there. According to the media wing of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), several vehicles of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) are now stationed there.
The Turkish Armed Forces and Turkish-backed militant groups have so far failed to achieve any notable progress against the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the Afrin area since they re-entered Bursaya Mount. An intense fighting is ongoing.
The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are going to send reinforcements to help the YPG fighting the Turkish Army. On January 29, the SDF’s Syriac Military Council officially announced that it will send its fighters to Afrin.
On January 29, a top HTS commander in southern Syria, Abo Hamza al-Urduni, was killed in a car bomb attack at a check point near the town of Musifarah in the countryside of Daraa, according to opposition sources. In total, some 10 militants were reportedly killed. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but according to local sources the incident was most likely sparked by the intra-militant tensions in southern Syria.
The Syrian National Dialogue Congress in the Russian city of Sochi started on January 30. The event is set to bring together the government, the opposition and representatives of all Syrian ethnic and religious groups. The goal is to advance the political settlement of the conflict, with special attention on elections and the constitution. In total, 1,600 invitations were sent to the event, which is backed by Russia, Iran and Turkey. However, the Kurdish Democratic Union Party – the political wing of the YPG as well as some other militant groups deeply influenced by the US-led block are not participating in the congress for various reasons.
“Overnight on January 30, a Turkish military convoy reportedly reached the area of Al-Eis in southern Aleppo in order to establish an observation point there. According to the media wing of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), several vehicles of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) are now stationed there.”
This is denied by the Syrians, along with other elements of the “incident”, such as the artillery and air strikes.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:15 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) did not attack the Turkish military in southern Aleppo last night, an official told Al-Masdar News this afternoon.
According to the official, the Turkish troops did not reach the southern Aleppo countryside, despite earlier reports of their forces reaching Point 4 near the town of Tal Al-‘Eis.
Had the Turkish troops reached the Tal Al-‘Eis axis, they would have effectively obstructed the Syrian Arab Army’s advance to the besieged Shiite towns of Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya in the Idlib Governorate.
The official continued that the Turkish military convoy is still parked near the border-town of Atareb, adding that they are likely awaiting an agreement from the government to go to southern Aleppo.”

Damascus to Sochi: “Syria is The Beating Heart of Arabism”. Opening session Syrian National Dialogue Congress > “Syria is the beating heart of Arabism and hub of civilizations; therefore, the seven years of war that our country passed through haven’t been able to weaken, but further strengthened it. Victories created suitable conditions for this meeting to announce to the world that we, as Syrians, are able to meet and listen to each other, and to affirm what unites us and to see how our homeland will be stronger and better because no one is more keen on Syria than the Syrians. And to tell whoever may have other interests, hands off Syria and stop interfering in its affairs and igniting the fire of sedition and division. Our people have suffered from outrageous foreign interventions, but our victory over those interventions prove that today we are the same Syrian people who used to be an example to follow in coexistence and stability and security in the Arab world.
Syria has been and will be only for the loyal national Syrians, and they alone have the right to decide their future. On behalf of millions of the Syrian people, I call upon you to be merciful with our homeland and to unite our ranks in defending it against whoever wants evil for it, and to defend its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and to protect the national independent decision”.

Trump’s Announced Strategy for Occupying Syria
https://www.globalresearch.ca/trumps-announced-strategy-for-occupying-syria/5627863
Southfront 2 reports today….chlorine bombs have been used by Assad so claimed plus an underling says Trump could eadily or will consequently send missiles to SAA to prevent such a possible thing or message no more…..all timing re Sochi perhaps as usa did not send observvers and are clearly being shut out as new notes for constitution agreed will go to Geneva and be marked for inclusion into UN resolutions.
Note timing re success by SAA in Idlib….. but personally I see if Turkey does take Afrin to Manbij….Nato countries have a clear swathe of territory from Meditteranean coast right east of the Euphrates to eastern border of Syria and I feel worried about this cos maybe usa will screw Iraqi s too in some way?
Canthama reported 3hr ago on SyrPer: Keep in mind that the fight of Abu Duhur city took close to 2 weeks, and a huge area behind Abu Duhur frontline was liberated in few hours. This is key to understand, that is what a collapse is all about, the bombing of the rearguard of al Qaeda plus the shush of the turkish regime convoy are connected. Idlib city liberation will happen much sooner than expected, no Idlib city for rats, no Jihadistan.
Not so quickly !!!
US Is Ready To Take Military Actions Against Syrian Army In Case Of New Chemical Attack.
https://southfront.org/us-is-ready-to-take-military-actions-against-syrian-army-in-case-of-new-chemical-attack/
On February 1, an unnamed US official said that US President Donald Trump is prepared to order another military action against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) to deter possible chemical attacks in the future, according to Reuters.
The US warning looks similar to previous warnings, which had been repeatedly made by US officials regarding the supposed “Iraqi chemical weapons” before the 2003 US invasion of Iraq.
The US statements are aimed at pressuring the SAA and its allies as they are approaching the heartland of the Syrian rebels in Idlib governorate. Some experts believe that the US could even use a direct military force against the Syrian government once again claiming that this is just a response to some “barbaric chemical weapons attack” against “civilians”.
“We reserve the right to use military force to prevent or deter the use of chemical weapons,” the US official told reporters during a press briefing according to Reuters.
US is SDF and SDF is US in Syria. Game over.
Who has the Guts to Deal with US in Syria?
Latest round of Sochi talks over, SAA & allies are back in action in Idlib. 15 plus villages taken in a single day.
“ Few more villages were liberated in Idlib, as expected, the advance has been fast with the surrender of the villages plus the complete collapse of the low morale al Qaeda and boyfriends. The day will end most likely with the Syrian Army and allies in a single front facing the M5 and very close to Saraqib.
[…] Idlib city liberation will happen much sooner than expected, no Idlib city for rats, no Jihadistan. The implication will be a huge pocket form Idlib to Lataminah, either to reconcile or to be dealt with fire.” (Canthama)
“The Syrian and Russian air forces are going all in, as they hammer the Idlib and Hama governorates […] the Syrian and Russian air forces have conducted over 200 airstrikes above the Idlib Governorate in the last 48 hours, breaking their previous records by a large number. “

That lying scurrilous harpy on NEWS 4 (last link) is unwatchable; earning her paycheck over the lives of Syrian soldiers.
Postman here. Canthama 8hr ago on SyrPer with map: there are vast plain areas without villages, very large indeed, in other words, it is an open door once the M5 is reached. The SAA and allies will advance very fast, we will, most likely, see all the above liberated in February. The consequence of controlling most of Idlib plains is huge, basically the SAA will create the opportunity to jump into another plain, al Rouj, and get from the back door of Jisr al Shughour, thus sealing a lot of terrorists inside a very large pocket and fire controlling, maybe, the border with Turkey in Lattakia and Idlib. Should all go right, the terrorists will have only a narrow corridor west of Aleppo and south of Afrin, and if Afrin comes to an agreement with the Syrian Government (soon to happen), then this corridor could be squeezed and the Turkish and terrorists expelled from it., thus Syrian gets control of Bab al Hawa once more. This would basically mark the end of the terrorists in Syria, only pockets to mop up after that — and the USDF to deal with.
Headline in Al-Masdar News AMN. Breaking: Turkey-led rebel factions begin withdrawing from Afrin towards east Idlib to fight Syrian Army – reports
No surprises here. The SAA & allies have been rolling up mercenaries-of-Zion-infested Idlib much faster than most Jewish think tank strategists have foreseen in their high-gloss presentations.
Al Qaeda’s moral is rock bottom. They are tired of sitting in the dirt, waiting for MI6 instructors to phone in, when the constant thunder of MIGs and Sukhois make it anyway impossible to decipher what the coordinates of the next suicide mission were supposed to be.
Hiking up to Afrin to bully the Kurds seemed like a holiday in comparison. But now it’s back to Idlib. At the behest of the Banking Cartel. Or the CIA? Or the Muslim Brotherhood? Who f***ing cares, when you are going to die either way!
The Pro-government sources speculate that the YPG somehow seeks to get protection from Russia and Iran remaining loyal to the US on the same time. This is a complicated task.
Events unfold as expected in Idlib. Zion’s cannon fodder gets relentlessly pounded left, right and center. The big question of the day is: will the Turkish-backed mercs even make it to the killing fields in Idlib or will they be taken out on their way from Afrin?
” 1) Tiger Forces have met with the SAA form South Aleppo after the liberation of Umm al Karamil, this may indicate the green light for al Hader forces to advance, finally and hopefully.
2) Heavy CAS in the al Qaeda new defensive line after the collapse of the mini cauldron east of the railroad, the new defensive line runs from Tell Touqan to Ziyarat al-Matakh.
http://wikimapia.org/#lang=pt&lat=35.888772&lon=37.044525&z=12&m=b&gz=0;369480514;358224065;0;0;1012802;929238
The Tiger Forces are trying to storm Jazraya right now, heavy shelling and CAS there, which may indicate Tell al Allush is either liberated or empty of rats, if that is true then holding Ziyarat al-Matakh will be very hard and this is very important since Ziyarat al-Matakh has a complicated defensive line built since 2015, flanking it from south was never expected by al Qaeda meaning this “mini al qaeda maginot line” will turn into a trap for them.
Important to mention that if the Tell Touqan to Ziyarat al-Matakh is broken, the Tiger Forces will reach the M5 on double, zero defensive lines and flat terrain.
3) Abu Duhur airbase is now considered safe, its use will be expedited with jets, fuel, weapons and sophisticated air defense.
Rats are doomed in Idlib, not even the transfer of turkish backed terrorists from Afrin to Idlib will help, they will be bombed in their way to Idlib and be killed, RuAF seems completely committed to this offensive, something that was doubted, rats are doomed.”
