Sorry for being off topic however I hope someone would be able to shed some light on what is Erdogan’s goal in the middle east. Is he trying to make best out of a bad situation for Turkey.
Erdogan’s goal seems to be doing everything in his power to prevent a Kurdish “state” on Turkey’s border. He will chop and change allegiances to achieve this. Today he is with Russia, tomorrow he is with USA, the day after with Russia again. Since the coup attempt, it seems his role on the chessboard has changed from being a USA pawn (I would say NATO, but everyone knows NATO is just USA), to becoming an independent bishop for hire by either side that also has its own agenda to counter the Kurdish pawns of both sides. The USA has a history of using the Kurds then discarding them, so this mercenary bishop is an even swap for the subservient pawn it used to be. Russia’s motives are a lot murkier… a part time bishop is better than an extra pawn for the enemy, but only when Russia controls it!
Thank you. I agree with what you say but I wonder what the outcome will be once anything resembling peace (still a long time coming) is established. I say this as I cannot see Erdogan simply withdrawing from Syria and Iraq and with this in mind does that mean that Russia has agreed to this from the beginning.
Russia has made concessions.
Nothing in life is black and white, let alone in the rough and tumble world of politics and war.
There are factions within each power structure (even in an absolute dictatorship like North Korea) and rarely if ever do the true events get revealed.
History is written by the winners not the losers, as the saying goes.
Even the Russians don’t know what the outcome will be – what is happening now is more pressing.
The Americans, on the other hand, have a clear vision of what they expect will happen… but are confused and angry when it doesn’t, and surprised and boastful when it does.
The Syrian government forces and Russian bombing just don’t seem to be ridding Syria of terrorists and rebels. There is still fighting in the same cities as years ago, and the number of ISIS and other terrorists is still numbering around 200,000.
Many of the battles simply have the rebels withdrawing after they start to lose, but them withdrawing still has them in Syria where they will continue to cause trouble.
If Russia and the Syrian government forces can step it up, they should, or else Syria will be permanently saddled with these foreign-backed rebels indefinitely.
Continued humanitarian pause in Aleppo in the event of militants is impossible, said a spokesman for the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov.
“If you remember, we said that the president felt it necessary to extend the humanitarian pause: we noted that, in any case, everything will depend on what position will take the terrorists, because the continuation of the humanitarian pause in the event of renewed militant offensive is impossible.
Now pause continues, Now you can exit the civilian population, the wounded from the eastern Aleppo, the conditions for humanitarian aid. But this is impossible if terrorists continue to fire the respective areas will continue shelling supply routes of humanitarian aid will start offensive operations continue to hide behind civilians as a shield. Of course, this does not allow you to continue the humanitarian pause “, – he added.
Russian naval carrier strike group led by the missile cruiser “Peter the Great” made the transition for the eastern Atlantic to the Mediterranean. From 27 to 29 October, supply vessels are filled up a long voyage ships all kinds of stocks. This was announced by the head of the Defense Ministry of Russia Sergey Shoigu.
In this regard, the Minister of Defence said: “It is particularly surprised us the position of individual countries, which are under pressure from the US and NATO have publicly stated refusal of entry of our warships in their ports. This did not affect the schedule of their movements on a given route, as they are provided with all necessary resources. Just as our group in Hmeymime and Tartus, where the average is delivered 2000 tons of cargo per day. ”
The minister made it clear that it is time for our partners to decide with whom they are fighting in Syria – with the terrorists or with Russia. In this regard, Shoigu cited the poet: “You can not in the same place to sit on different trains.” And then he wondered: could the West have forgotten, from whose hands innocent people were killed in terrorist attacks in Belgium, France, Egypt, Iraq and other countries
Shoigu told about the current situation in Syria. As directed by the Supreme Commander for 16 days in Aleppo do not apply aviation. At the same time, more than 2 thousand so-called moderate opposition, supported by 22 tanks, 15 infantry combat vehicles, 8 “jihad-Mobile” with suicide bombers and multiple launch rocket systems were massive attacks and shelling of residential areas, schools, hospitals. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, most of this equipment is destroyed.
According to Shoigu, every day in Aleppo, rebels shot dozens of civilians for trying to get humanitarian corridors and out of the eastern part of the city. “Is the opposition, with which it is possible to negotiate?” – The minister said. He believes that for the destruction of the terrorists need to work together, rather than put a spoke in the wheel of the partners.
The official representative of the Ministry of Defense of Russia Igor Konashenkov said that the situation in Iraq Mosul is different from Syrian Aleppo lack of humanitarian corridors, as well as journalists, volunteers and activists. He was commenting on the words of the US State Department Speaker John Kirby, who had previously announced the incomparable differences between the situations in Aleppo and Mosul.
“In Mosul, according to a strange coincidence, no journalists or activists or volunteers” white “or other rainbow colors” Helmets “. None. Therefore, all that can afford to broadcast American and European TV channels – a cheerful censored reports about the extraordinary success of the coalition and the coming of the great victory over the terrorists, not confirmed by the actual shooting, “he said.
The number of settlements that have joined the reconciliation process has increased to 877. The number of armed groups that have declared their commitment to the terms of a cessation of hostilities, has not changed – 69.
During the day recorded 41 shelling by the illegal armed groups in the provinces of Aleppo (17) Damascus (19), Latakia (3), Durham (1) and Hama (1). For days earlier -. 58 attacks on
Russian Air Force and videoconferencing Syria opposition armed groups, have declared a cessation of hostilities and to report to the Russian or American centers reconciliation information about their location, strikes are not applied.
Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov and Turkey Hulusi Acar and discussed the operation of the coalition in the region of Mosul and the normalization of the situation around Aleppo. This was reported in the statement of the Russian Defense Ministry. “There was a frank exchange of views on the situation in the north of Syria, as well as near the Syrian-Iraqi border in the context of operations against the LIH in the Mosul area,” – said in a statement.
During the conversation, Gerasimov informed Akara on efforts by the Russian side’s efforts to improve the the humanitarian situation in Aleppo.
The parties agreed on the need to “priority disengagement” formations “Dzhabhat en-Nusra” and the moderate opposition.
The Defense Ministry report stresses that “the meeting was held in a constructive spirit” and “an understanding on the continuation of contacts between the general staffs the two countries, including at expert level. ”
The onset of the Western coalition forces in the occupied Syrian militants IG Raqqa city should begin “in the coming weeks,” said a representative of the Department of Defense Peter Cook. “We believe that now is the time to put pressure on the IG in this direction. The primary task is to isolate the city and then move on to the next stage – the release of Raqqa, “he said. Asked about the timing of the transaction, Mr. Cook said he was not going to “make a statement as to when exactly this will happen.”
Mosul assault forces of the international coalition led by the United States temporarily postponed. The reason for the tactical:. Americans want to isolate Syria’s Raqqa to deprive Iraqi insurgents assistance from Syria
As stated in the headquarters of the operation “Enduring commitment”, is currently in the region of Raqqa are mobile units of US special forces – groups of special forces of the US Army, which together with the Kurds destroy emanating from the Syrian “capital” of the IG militias and supply convoys. “Green Berets” not only suggest the cluster of militants strikes, but also on their own attack them.
In this case, the main task – to cut the main routes linking Raqqa with the outside world, and thus to take the city during the siege.
I must say that this tactic is typical for Pentagon. Hold the line supply, the US military not only to provide a continuous blockade of the city’s small force, but also deprived of the possibility of IG units to conduct reconnaissance and early detection of the troops, which sooner or later will go to storm Raqqa. In this scenario the onset of training developed during “Operation Desert Storm” in 1991 and “Iraqi Freedom” in 2003.
Leaders of the terrorist organization “Islamic State” militants had ordered that more than two years kept Iraqi Mosul, to leave the city and sent to Syria. It is reported by TASS with reference to the television channel Al Sumaria.
The UN Security Council is no unity of views on what is happening in Syria’s Aleppo. This was stated by Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin. Permanent representative said – “are heated discussions, but I can assure you that the understanding of the importance of the task of dissociating opposition groups of terrorists is gradually increasing among the board members do not have unanimity of views on the reasons for the tragedy in Aleppo on this matter.”
He also noted that a formal response to the a resolution on the events around Aleppo Security Council was not able to work out, “because the proposed options fell short of the required level of support.” Churkin added that “antidamasskaya” rhetoric, which gradually turned into an anti-Russian, starts a business to a standstill.
Syrian President Bashar Assad said he plans to be in office until the end of his third term as president in 2021. This writes The New York Times.
According to the publication, Assad, radiating confidence, hoping to convince Western publics that their governments had made a mistake by supporting the Syrian opposition, and his other opponents.
Assad has denied any personal responsibility for the outbreak of civil war in country, accusing the United States and the radical Islamists.
Turkish engineers equip the north Syrian military base to the airfield, said the Lebanese edition of As Safir. According to the journalists, it is located in the south of the settlement Ziyara Al-Rai. It is expected that there will be trained advocates of so-called “moderate” Syrian opposition, which later join the operation “Shield of the Euphrates.”

DAMASCUS: The Syrian Army is on the verge of taking back Doumaa, the last stronghold of the cretinous Saudi-funded Jaysh Al-Islam, once led by the supercilious knucklehead named Zahraan ‘Alloosh whose remains are yet to be found. The Syrian Army has confirmed entering Tal Kurdi which is the entryway into Doumaa. Intercepted chatter from JI “commanders” indicates a serious attrition problem which cannot be remedies given the present geo-strategic military configurations here. It is only a matter of a short time before nobody is left to fight for the Wahhaabist cause.
Harastaa: The Syrian Army disclosed today that it found a 160 meter-long tunnel used by rodents to hide weapons from Saudi Arabia and the Zionist Ghetto State. The tunnel was 14 meters deep and was dug by Jaysh Al-Islam whose luck has been somewhat shaky lately. All weapons and ammunition were seized and turned over to the PDC for use in killing Wahhabist monkeys.
Khaan Al-Shaykh-Dayr Al-Khabiyya: The terrorist presence is showing signs of lassitude. Terrorists are sneaking away to hide in their hometowns leaving mostly foreign trash to do the fighting. Major news should be coming out of here soon. Palestinians are playing a major role in providing our army with valuable Intel concerning rodents logistics and whereabouts.
Maghaarat Al-Meer and Bayt Jinn Intersection: SAA has destroyed a Nusra/Alqaeda command-control center along with a large cache of weapons and ammo.

LEBANON FINALLY GETS ITS PRESIDENT. WHY SAAD HARIRI BROKE DOWN. WHY HE’S ALMOST BROKE!
Syrian Perspective takes pleasure in congratulating the people of Lebanon on their newly-elected president, General Michel ‘Awn. That he was finally able to take his deserved place at Ba’abdaa Palace was due to the collapse of Saudi influence in the Lebanon. It is well known that Sa’ad Hariri is shunned today by the Saudis for his failure to properly assist the Syrian “opposition” in Lebanon, especially in Tripoli, the northern capital. Without Saudi funding, Hariri knows he cannot survive much longer as a political heavy-weight. He is unable to pay many of his own apparatchiks in Beirut and has begun to slowly divest himself of all the burdensome accoutrements of being the “spoiler”. He has managed to negotiate for himself the position of Prime Minister which he will use to assuage any hurt feelings in Damascus.
Following suit, even Sameer Ja’ja’, has lifted his objections to General ‘Awn. The Lebanese warlord has come to the realization that the Syrian army and political system has defeated Saudi Arabia’s plan to replace Dr. Assad. It is being reported by our sources, that Sameer Ja’ja’ is planning a long vacation in France where he expects to live out a normal lifespan with all the ill-gotten goodies he has siphoned away. Ja’ja’ also lives in fear of the vendetta still festering in Zghartaa over his brutal assassinations of Tony Faranjiyya and his family and Rasheed Karaama. Once the Syrian Army has vanquished the Saudi and American supported terrorists, it is expected that the Faranjiyya family will make good on its promise to avenge one of its most prominent sons.

MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. Russia’s General Staff is calling on armed groups to stop fighting in Syria’s Aleppo and withdraw from the city with their arms via two corridors, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov said on Wednesday.
“Taking into account that our American colleagues are incapable of separating the opposition from terrorists, we appeal to all the leaders of armed groups directly to stop combat actions and leave Aleppo with their arms,” Gerasimov said.

To this aim, two corridors will be opened and all government forces and equipment will be withdrawn from there. One corridor is opened for heading towards the Syrian-Turkish border, and the second one to Idlib, he said. “The other six corridors will be aimed for the exit of civilians, evacuation of sick and wounded people,” the general added.
Russia’s center for reconciliation of opposing sides and the Syrian government forces will ensure the safe exit of armed units and civilians from Aleppo, he said.
The terrorists failed to escape from the Syrian city of Aleppo despite all their efforts, he added.
“The militants’ efforts to break loose from the city have failed. The terrorists have suffered huge losses in manpower, weapons and equipment. They are unable to pull out of the city,” he stated.
New humanitarian pause
According to Gerasimov, Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered enacting a humanitarian pause in Syria’s Aleppo on November 4.

Gerasimov told reporters the humanitarian pause will last from 9 a.m. till 7 p.m. “to avoid senseless victims.”
“This decision has been coordinated with the Syrian leadership,” he added.
Gerasimov said civilians and militants will be able to leave Aleppo via eight humanitarian corridors.
According to the Russian military, the armed groups continue firing at these corridors to prevent civilians from leaving Aleppo.
Russian and Syrian warplanes halted their airstrikes on Aleppo on October 18.
MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. Turkey and Russia have different views of the process of separating Syria’s moderate opposition from terrorist organizations, Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, told Rossiya 24 TV channel on Wednesday.

“We also demand separating supporters of the Jabhat al-Nusra (group, outlawed in Russia – TASS) from the opposition, because we cannot consider terrorists together with the moderate opposition,” he said. “We have dissenting views on how, on what basis they should be separated. First of all, it is necessary to stop the bombing raids, ensure the ceasefire and end the hostilities. After that, it is necessary to provide a reasonable period of time. As long as the war is going on, as long as the regime continues its bombing raids, it will be very difficult to separate them.”
According to Cavusoglu, Ankara and Moscow agree that “the political, non-military solution is the most appropriate for Syria.
“On the other hand, Ankara “does not believe that a political settlement involving the Assad regime is possible.”
“If we have disagreements on Assad and other issues, we have set up special groups made up of diplomats, military experts and representatives of special services. All Syrian, regional and military issues are considered by these groups with the participation of both Turkey and Russia,” the foreign minister said, adding that “dialogue between Russia and Turkey is very important for stability in the region.”

MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. Turkey is asking Russia to provide documents to investigate the case with a Russian Su-24 bomber downed by a Turkish fighter jet, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV Channel on Wednesday.
“If Russia has some documents, then our prosecutors would ask to provide them. If Russia gives them to us, we’ll hand these data over to prosecutors so that investigative measures are based on specific documents and data,” he said.
Turkey is ready to render financial assistance to the family of the Su-24 bomber’s killed pilot Oleg Peshkov, Cavusoglu said.
“I informed Mr. [Russian Foreign Minister Sergey] Lavrov that I’m ready to pay a visit to the widow of the killed Russian pilot, if she gives her consent,” the minister added.
Sorry for being off topic however I hope someone would be able to shed some light on what is Erdogan’s goal in the middle east. Is he trying to make best out of a bad situation for Turkey.
I’d dearly like to hear about the current situation in Libya, I find the total absence of MSM news rather ominous,
Erdogan’s goal seems to be doing everything in his power to prevent a Kurdish “state” on Turkey’s border.
