The process whereby Russia keeps a dignified silence and a resolutely legal and procedurally correct approach may be the more mature and reasoned method of interstate relations but, it is NOT respected by the Psychopathic western leaders. The current process – whereby the Duma is “mulling” over countermeasures and the Russian Military is “mulling” over giving the S300 to those friends who are seen to be at high risk of being attacked by a malevolent West – seems far too timid…and the Western media is picking up this Vibe and saying “Haha Russia keeps making threats but in the end they are easy to manipulate, we will trip them up eventually.”
If Russia closed down e.g. its rocket engine sales to the USA FULLY and not half-heartedly this would send a far more resolute message. Putin implies: “well…we may be able to have warmer relations with the west again in future, so lets not close the door completely, we are still debating whether we should do this” – simply does not work in todays climate. Zhirinovskis absolutist approach would be far more in keeping with – and appropriate – to counter US behaviour.
Same with removing Russia from the SWIFT system. JUST DO IT FINALLY…dont just talk about “slowly moving towards a gradual decoupling.”
Same with free-floating the Rouble. This should have been done ages ago and Russia would not have lost all the reserves to prop up the rouble. The rapid rise in exports due to a more favourable exchange rate, would have compensated for this.
Another report by Engelhardt stated that Russia had a clause added by the USA in its Constitution which fixed the relationship between the State and the Central Bank. Why this timidity by the Russian leadership? Why not right now, EXERCISE sovereignty and change the Constitution back to suit Russian National Interests as a priority? Re-Nationalise all privatised assets in Gas, oil, electric power, water, and all other Public services. There was nothing wrong with the Communist Era methodology. Infrastructure services existed for the people not for the 1% of speculators. The Western privatisation process also destabilised Western European societies from 1980 and created a return to Feudal Principles. Russia does not need to think that this needs to be emulated. I hope that Grudinin can influence this process with some energy…
