This is basically an extortion scheme. However, Lira assumes that all this price capped oil will be only be sold at higher prices to the Europeans. If that’s the case, the poorer countries who need oil too will suffer.
As with Grain, the poorer countries may find that Russia is a more ‘compassionate’ seller. Possibly in return for long term supply contracts, non support of the Western sanctions and future business cooperation they could realise a good price. Time will tell.
Also, it was my understanding that the USA is still buying Oil from Russia, which it is marking up and selling to Europe – how do you spell f*cked ?
Isn’t getting grain and oil out of Russia to smaller countries already difficult due to sanctions? I’m not sure what the applicable sanctions are but this would imply that Russia must own sufficient cargo carriers and self insure them.
That’s way messed up that we shipped LNG out only to buy oil in? I read somewhere also that 90,000 barrels of diesel got diverted from a European destination to the US due to our shortage.
I don’t think Gonzalo Lira is assuming that only Europe will be sold to Europeans at a higher price. He is, rather, pointing out that how the price caps will backfire, as did the sanctions. Sadly, as with the central bank increases in the lending rate strengthened the dollar, the third world hurts the most as they have so much debt priced in dollars. They are paying more for grain and energy, and it’s costing them much more to repay their loans. If there is a bad guy here, it is the West as they sanction Russia in their hatred and desire to destroy them. The sanctions are foolish, but the intentional destruction of Nordstream pipelines was pure wickedness, as is the willingness to destroy their own industrial base to appease the climate change gods.
Good point. I agree that the West is beyond corrupt. Destroying a lifeline to innocent people and exacerbating an already disrupted global supply chain even further is a total disregard for human life. That is just evil.
It is said in Occult literature, Stevie, of the Devil, too. “He cannot enter your dwelling unless you invite him in, but once in, you cannot bid him depart”. How appropriate, methinks :-)
Gonzalo what you are explaining here is correct, but the larger problem is the leadership of the western nations have made the defining decision to fight against the Almighty God which is truly insanity. It’s got to be God first not “woke”.
What if the primary goal of all this shenanigans was to get a higher oil price?
The world has strong deflationary currents (insufficient money creation).
This is a threat to TPTB. They need to create inflation or their system breaks.
This explains the outcomes of EU policies. They want inflation……The banks need inflation.
They know the system is doomed.
The war on Russia gets deficit spending from govts around the world (creating new money) and price increases for producers, especially through energy prices.
They are in fact achieving their goals.
Delaying the inevitable.

I’m enjoying watching how long the European masses would remain passive to their standard of living being destroyed by their leaders. It is amusing to realize that the average European is not really more enlightened than their counterparts in the developing world. Well, I suppose the GM foods everyone has been consuming for a long time is having their desired effects.

Re. US Bases in Saudi. I found this site with an interactive map:

Once you invite the US MIC in, you cannot get rid of them. Worse than a cancer !

And the higher price they will pay for oil will drive up European/Natostan inflation even higher … like cutting off the last branch you’re sitting on.
